I am an avid reader by passion and love to create a world of quasi-reality for my readers. I am a researcher in the occult too. I loathe to write about myself but, if you are reading this piece of the text, you know I often land up doing so.
I believe I am a simple person born and brought up in a close-knit family with interesting lineage. My grandfather was a Gandhian freedom fighter who fought the British but fell in love with their language. My grandmother was from a Bengali family of advocates that lived in Andhra Pradesh. On my maternal side there were stalwart politicians, and my father was one of the founding members of a party that pioneered socialism. My great grandfather started his own press and poetry magazine in British India when he was in his teens and the poems were not very kind to the colonizers. He eloped with the daughter from a lower caste family as he did not believe in the caste system.
My parents instilled in me the love for literature and, despite being a student of engineering and business management, my passion for historical fiction inspired me to eventually take up the pen myself. History is all about swords, so, in a sense, I took up something mightier. My first Bengali novel got published in 2015 by one of the most reputed publication houses in India, the Ananda Publishers which has published more than a dozen Sahitya Akademi Award winning books and the book was launched at the prestigious Kolkata International Book Fair 2016.
My books try to bring together history, politics, thrill, pun and supernatural – a genre that is unique to the Bengali literature.

এ এক ভারি আশ্চর্য উপন্যাস।
শুরু হয় কৌতুকরস দিয়ে। ক্রমে চরিত্ররা নিজেদের শক্তি আর দুর্বলতা নিয়ে জাঁকিয়ে বসেন। সমকালের নানা ঘটনা আর ইতিহাসের প্যাঁচপয়জার দানা বাঁধে তাঁদের চারপাশে।
এক রহস্যময় নারী আর তার তথাকথিত জাদু বা ডাকিনীবিদ্যা এরপর কাহিনির কেন্দ্রে আসে।
তারপরেই আসে এক ভয়ংকর ষড়যন্ত্র! তার শেষে আপাতভাবে শান্তিকল্যাণ হয় বটে, কিন্তু থেকে যায় অনেক প্রশ্ন, অনেক রহস্য।
পাঠক বিশ্বাস-অবিশ্বাস, লৌকিক-অলৌকিক, এমনকি ঐতিহাসিক আর কাল্পনিক নানা তত্ত্ব ও তথ্যের দোলাচলে ত্রিশঙ্কু হয়েই থেকে যান।
উপন্যাস শেষ হয়ে যায়!
ঐতিহাসিক থ্রিলার ব্যাপারটা কীভাবে লেখা উচিত, তার একটি মডেল হিসেবে এটিকে নেওয়া যায়। ন্যারেটিভের গতিতে এটি পাক্কা থ্রিলার। সংলাপে ঊনবিংশ শতকের মাঝামাঝি সময়কার ভাব ও ভাষার নিখুঁত নির্মাণে এটি রীতিমতো সিদ্ধিলাভ করেছে। সর্বোপরি, সমকালীন অর্থনীতির আসল মোচড়গুলো ধরায় এই উপন্যাস সফল হয়েছে।
সব মিলিয়ে আমার এই বইটিকে আনপুটডাউনেবলই লেগেছে। শুধু শেষটাকে আরেকটু স্পষ্ট করলে হয়তো ব্যাপারটা আরও ভালো হত।
অথবা নাও হতে পারত। লালনের গানের মতোই রূপাঞ্জলি'র গোটা অস্তিত্বই তো সান্ধ্যভাষায় গড়া। তার অর্থটা না হয় অরসিকের দুরধিগম্য হয়েই থাক।
পড়ে ফেলুন!

একটি কথাই বলার - লেখক তৎকালীন প্রাকৃতিক তথা সামাজিক পরিবেশ এবং আদপকায়দার আরেকটু বিশদ বিবরণ উপন্যাসে যোগ করলে কাহিনীটি একটা আলাদা মাত্রা পেতো ।😇😇
একটি উপভোগ্য লেখা। কৌতুকে ভরপুর ফোর্থ ডাইমেনশনের এক অপূর্ব খেলা।🌠
