Let's Brunch: 100 Recipes for the Best Meal of the Week

Rate this book
Lend a little Southern hospitality to your brunch menu with approximately 85 flavor-packed recipes for breakfast and brunch, including front porch-worthy libations, from Chef Belinda Smith-Sullivan in her newest cookbook Let's Brunch.

Brunch, a meal designed for leisure and good times spent with family and friends, is the perfect target for Belinda Smith-Sullivan’s Southern flavors and hospitality. Smith-Sullivan grew up at her grandmother’s elbow, learning how to cook from scratch long before she had any professional training. This down-home connection to food is the base for her more sophisticated ingredient and spice combinations. Chef Belinda offers up some of her tastiest dishes yet with brunch menu ideas like Collard Green and Rice Casserole served with Sugared Peppered Bacon, a side of Rosemary Biscuits smeared with Meyer Lemon Marmalade, and a Pomegranate Mimosa to toast a great start to the day.

With more than 85 satisfying recipes, the cookbook is divided up into chapters that focus on starters, soups, and salads; eggs dishes; casseroles; breakfast meats; pastas; grits; sandwiches; breads; jams and syrups; desserts; and beverages that include hot drinks, juices, and alcohol libations.

There are not nearly enough photographs - perhaps thirty percent of the recipes get one?

I felt there were a lot of basic and well-known recipes with only a few more unique ones:

Lemon Curd and Gingersnap Trifle
Quince Crisp
Baba Au Rhum
Black Walnut - Cardamom Pound Cake
Easy Meyer Lemon Marmalade

It's an okay cookbook. Not too complex, but that's it's downside.

I think it's a poor choice in your cookbook to recommend store bought items as signature ingredients. For example, we made blini (crepes) to be paired with smoked salmon or jam. The book recommend any store bought jam...but the point of cookbook is to not just buy the ingredients. Why not offer a jam recipe to pair?

I made Pomegranate Orange Mimosas. It recommended store bought orange juice & store bought pomegranate juice. Excuse me? Where is the recipe? Where is the effort when the recipe is saying to just go to the store and buy it?

Some cookbooks go the extra mile, this one took a stroll through lazy street...

Very Good! Some good brunch recipes to create a festive meal. Recipes such as Sweet Potato Buttermilk Biscuits, Crab Stuffed Mushrooms, and Chocolate Chip Rum Pecan Pie. The book has easy to follow cooking instructions and photos. Yummy! The author is a chef and pilot!

🌷Book Quotes:

"The best of both worlds—cornbread and slow-roasted brisket."

"This is a beautiful presentation when using heirloom tomatoes in varying colors."

"Don’t forget the mimosa!"
