3.5 stars - This started out absolutely awesome. It was hilarious as Donna was schooled in some ways of the bedroom by an eclectic and eccentric group of women. 🍌💋

I love that Liam was aware of her intoxicated state and put the kibosh on any intimate activities. What threw me for a loop is what happened when he got her 9-1-1 text. They had waited more than a year so what would a few more hours be to give her the time she needed and deserved? It felt cheap the way it happened.

Even though I liked the ending and the sweetness that emanated, that "plumbing" scene really didn't work for me.

I listened to this on the Read Me Romance podcast. At the time of this review, these older episodes are still available (Episodes 41.1 & 41.2).

The narrators are Beth Roeg and Lance Greenfield. I liked both narrators. I do wish this was in duet as the narrators are more suited for male or female characters but not both.

Audiobook: Narrators – Beth Roeg and Lance Greenfield

Excellent voices for these characters. The heroine in this story is sweet and innocent and Ms. Roeg performed her perfectly with all her insecurities, embarrassments and general personality of such a character. Mr. Greenfield does an amazing job as well with Liam and I loved his deep voice and the perfect rhythm and cadence of his performance. I will definitely be looking for more from these narrators.

This was a fun, sweet, little bit dirty audio that I loved.

Liam knew the minute he saw Donna that he wanted her. Now, a year later, their wedding is only weeks away. But Donna was raised to be a good girl and Liam has respected that. However, there’s more to her innocence than what he initially suspected. When a bit of spiked punch at her bachelorette party has her making a late night visit to his house not only does their intimacy increase, but the lines of communication is opened into an avenue they’ve never had before.

There was so much more to this short story than what I initially thought. I loved that Donna’s character was deeper than the blurb and my expectations led me to believe. The same for Liam as he is all-in and wants only the best for her, including a healthy outlook on the intimate side of relationships.

The secondary characters were hilarious and the steam level was off the charts. There are lots of laugh out loud moments as well as some that will have your heart hurting. This is the perfect quick listen that will leave you smiling.

I loved the premise behind this story, Donna the homeschooled, sheltered, virgin is getting married to the new to town Liam the plumber. Liam has a disturbing family history that he refuses to repeat so he treats Donna with the upmost respect of her wishes to wait until marriage to have sex. This is where I have the biggest issue with this story; Donna has an ultra-religious mother that has convinced her that if she 'sins' bad things will happen to the ones she loves. For being such a short story that religious theme came off a bit pushy and overboard. Had it been lessened I would have enjoyed this story more because the humor, sweetness, and sexiness was all there.

This specific video review will be included in the August 2019 wrap-up.

3 stars.

It was okay. I didn't love it but I didn't hate it either.
It was way over the top, which I don't always have a problem with, but holy shit the girl was stupid, so it kind of bothered me this time. I'm sure it would've gotten a 4 star rating from me if it weren't for the girl being so dense.

I listened to it for free on the Read Me Romance podcast.

2.5 stars.

I listened to this book on the Read Me Romance podcast. I liked the overall plot of this; a woman who is about to be married (and waiting to have sex) decides to surprise her fiance with some new things she's learnt at her bachelorette party.

The only thing I didn't really like about this book was the characterisation of the heroine. She was just bland and the kind of way too innocent that just got annoying. Also, the way she was described by the hero was weird... boney, skinny, skeletal. It was just sort of strange and I didn't really feel the connection between them.

I liked the idea of this book, and the sex scenes were good, but I think it had the potential to be so much better.

Another great addition in to the Read Me Romance podcast!

Hot, steamy, and blush-inducing, Plumbing The Virgin had me all kinds of swooning with the romance between overly sheltered Donna, and the hot gentleman Liam Walsh. I was super entertained and laughing as Donna worked up the courage to show Liam how much she appreciates him, as well as with the events and crazy backstories that are interwoven in this short and sweet romance. I think it is safe to say that I wouldn't mind adding this gem into my "wouldn't mind re-reading" pile!

How this authour packed so much emotion, so much sweetness, and so much sexiness in this little novella, a mystery. But she did and I loved it! The narrator's were perfect and captured the characters exactly ❤

This was a quick, hot rom com with a good message. Letting go of fear and shame is hard to do. It holds you back and prevents true living. I like that Donna was able to learned to release that in this short story.

Both narrators did a good job: 🎧🎧🎧/3

I found this book through Read Me Romance. I listened to the professional narration and was expecting it to be a cute, sweet HEA. And as you can see from my 2/5 star rating, it was a disappointment.

The premise of this story is that Donna grew up with an "amish" mother, who shielded her from everything–especially if it was sex-related. Here comes Liam who "fell in love" with Donna after seeing her eating an ice cream cone one day. A year later they are getting married. It's not a unique story, but it had the potential of being a really cute read.

My issue was the writing and the interactions between Liam and Donna. It seemed way too overly unrealistic that I found myself in every chapter saying "Seriously?" I get that Donna was sheltered, which is the reason she was so awkward and hesitant. I can relate. But then a few pages in (and after getting drunk) she wants to overcome her fear of sex and give Liam a blowjob after her bachelorette party. No forethought besides a few women pressuring her into "pleasing" her man and proving that she's not a "scared virgin"–even though she is scared and she is a virgin. It irritated me on how nonchalant her "friends" were with her concerns about sex and how no one actually asked her why she was so terrified. They just blamed it on her "amish" mother, and instead of giving her that talk on how natural it is and how it's okay to be scared, they just hopped right into teaching her about blowjobs. They then proceeded to get her drunk and dump her at her fiance's house that so she can show him that she could "polish a trailer-hitch" (which is code for blowjob.)

I also hated the language that the writer used in describing her characters, specifically Donna. When you're reading a romance, who thinks being referred to as "skinny", "boney", "narrow", or "stringy" is sexy? I don't! We get it, Donna's a very thin woman, but there's better a way to describe her without making the reader want to feed her a sandwich (or two). And if you think that I'm being too harsh or picky, here are some excerpts:

"...her stringy blonde hair swished around her skinny shoulders."

"She's like one of those old portraits of waifs begging for bread."

"...I'd imagine the words I'd write after sinking between her skinny thighs."

"She points her boney finger at me..."

What makes it worse is that Liam is describing her that way, which made me question what he thinks is attractive. He described her the same way you would describe a skeleton: skinny, boney, sharp, frail, narrow, pale/white. There are plenty of better ways you could describe her–especially if you want the readers to view her as desirable. For example, "slim", "petite", "dainty", "delicate", even "tiny". And instead of constantly referring to her hair as "thin" or "stringy" (it makes me think of hair loss), you could refer to it as "fine", "silky", or even "feather-light".

Also what drove me crazy was their first meeting. You know that part that as a romantic you can't wait to read? The part when the character first discovered they were in love? When they found the "one", and it just melted your heart? There was no melting of the heart in this story. That magical moment happened when Donna said that "chocolate-dipped ice cream is her favorite thing in the world", and all of a sudden Liam knew that she was his.

Come on, seriously. Seriously?

There has to be more to convince me that he wanted her enough to not only want to marry her but also to not have sex for a year. Where is the magic, the connection that most romances have during that first meeting? Or even after? And I thought that there would be redemption for this book during the sex scene or even after, but there wasn't. Honestly, I struggled through that scene and it left me with a very bitter taste in my mouth (no pun intended).

I could go on and on, but I don't want to spoil anything. And if I do, I might have to subtract another star from my rating.

I've never read a Tia Louise book before this one, and if all of her books are like this, then I'm not missing out on much.

Plumbing the Virgin is standalone that's part of Read Me Romance -podcast. I've been a little behind this podcast and decided to catch up last weekend. I don't know why I enjoy books about virgins so much, maybe because I'm a virgin myself and they're relate-able.

"You think I don't know how but I practiced on banana."

Donna White grew up with what the town calls crazy mother. Donna wasn't even allowed to watch TV growing up and not many books either, besides the bible. Donna lived a sheltered life but then she meets Liam Walsh. She wasn't used to talking to guys, so she didn't even know if she did it right.

I’ve read two other books that Tia has written about other characters that live in the town where this book takes place, When We Touch and When We Kiss. So I couldn’t wait to catch up with the town of Oceanside this short novella. This is a hilarious, sweet and sexy virgin romance and you can listen for free right now on the Read Me Romance.

The couple in this was very sweet. At the start, the story didn't really suck me in. But, once Donna and Liam started having scenes together, the story picked up. So, this was a cute and steamy little story.

This is the first audiobook I’ve listened to, courtesy of the Read Me Romance podcast. I don’t normally have the patience for them because narrators speak slowly and it’s easier/faster to read myself, along with the potential for an annoying narrator. I thought it wasn’t that bad this time around (and it was free) so I have no complaints there.

The actual book was okay. The heroine has not had any sexual interaction with her boyfriend, the hero, because she was raised extremely religious. I found it unrealistic that she just randomly changes her mind and decides to be sexually active with him out of nowhere. The sex was fine but there was only like 2-3 scenes.

I wouldn’t keep this on my shelf to reread (or re-hear?) but I’d recommend it for a fun couple of hours.

I would give this book 4.5 stars. Enjoyed the chemistry between the two characters. I just felt like everything happened so fast. The one scene I didn’t like was when he got a concussion and then just woke up and was walking around. That pulled me out of the story because everything else was realistic. I like the fact that the main girl was in a toss up between fear of faith and living very relatable!

With the blurb for this one I was really thinking this was going to be on the tad ridiculous side, just a laugh out loud craziness, but that is not what this was.

She was so sheltered and I find that I am getting tired of religion being used in such a negative way in these types of stories. If religion is in a story at all it always seams to be the villain and that is getting frustrating to me.

I did like the hero in this one, just a sweet, patient guy.

A read me romance podcast. Donna is engaged to be married, and even though Liam would like to have a more physical relationship he has gone with her no sex rule, only he doesn't realize why she is afraid to be intimate. Her mother has her terrified that bad things will happen to men if they don't wait until marriage

Plumbing the Virgin is a cute quick read with familiar faces. I love we get a little bit of Daisy in this one. This is the time leading up to Donna's wedding and it so much fun. I love Donna and Liam. You feel for Donna and her super religious mother. Liam is sweet and so patient. This is just a fun read that will put a smile on your face.

First of all, great bj scene!
I liked the book, but the thing that struck me most is, though I understand it was undoubtedly accentuated for the novel's purposes, the bigotry of the main charachter's mother is unfortunately not an isolated instance and it shows how it can be crippling for some people

What an awful book. The writing is cringeworthy. The MMC is supposed to be a “poet” in his free time and it was the absolute worst poetry I’ve ever heard. Just horrific. More importantly, the underlying misogyny in this book was terrifying to see. Just awful. I cannot believe this was actually published.

Beautiful Novella ...... loved every minute of Donna's forced innocence about sex by her mindless mum, and her bravery and courage to pursue the facts for herself, and to actually execute her game plan on Liam ...... all 's well that ends well with a beautiful happy ever after !!
