WITCH WAY TO MURDER & MAYHEM - Book 1
To call Gran eccentric is somewhat of an understatement. She has questionable fashion sense, cough, can anyone say bedazzled Ugg boots and a tutu? But my Gran? She is awesome. So when she suggested I buy The Dusty Attic Bookstore I was all in, after all, what could go wrong? Try finding my high school nemesis dead on the floor of my newly acquired store for starters. Now I’m on the suspect list!
WITCH WAY TO ROMANCE & RUIN - Book 2
To win the Decadent Dessert’s competition, you have to crack a few eggs. Gran is gearing up to finally take down the reigning winner of Whitefall Cove’s annual Decadent Dessert’s competition, only the former victor turns up dead, and Gran is the number one suspect. Now all eyes are on us. How on earth do I keep two feuding covens from outright war, prove Gran’s innocence, and keep my new bookstore afloat?
WITCH WAY DOWN UNDER - Book 3
Tick Tock. Time is running out. My parents are missing in outback Australia. Only they’ve left me clues. Clues that tell me they were close to a significant discovery – the location of a copper scroll that leads to untold treasures. A scroll that treasure hunters would kill for.
★ WHY READERS LOVE THE WITCH WAY SERIES ★
“I fell in love with the characters from the first page of WITCH WAY TO MURDER & MAYHEM. Gran! I wish I had a gran like her. I didn't figure out who the culprit was until the author wanted me to. I couldn't put this book down, it has all the elements you'd expect with extras that fit seamlessly into the genre. Cannot wait for more in the series!” ~ Angie
“I loved the characters in WITCH WAY TO MURDER & MAYHEM so much! Harper Jones comes home to Whitefall Cove after losing her magic, fiancee and job. While home living with Gran, who by the way is a hoot! Harper decides to buy The Dusty Attic Book store. This is when the Mystery begins! A murder and a whole bunch of suspects and one very hot detective! I highly recommend this book!” ~ Donna
“WITCH WAY TO MURDER & MAYHEM is a great book! I had so much fun reading this! Gran is a hoot, I want to be like her!! Harper is amazing, even after going through such a horrible break up with a cheating McDouche, as Gran calls him, and losing her magic, she still pulls herself up and comes out ahead of it all. Such a great inspiration. I can’t wait until the next book comes out to see what happens!” ~ Jodi
“WITCH WAY TO MURDER & MAYHEM - Gran had me rolling on the floor with belly laughs; I love that clotheshorse hussy. This is not your typical cozy murder mystery; there's actually interesting storylines, funny dialog, an interesting variety of characters, almost all likable. This clean story moves at a fast pace and there's plenty of intrigue.” ~ Texas
I voluntarily read and reviewed each of these as they were released. It is honestly lol hysterical. Each book follow Harper and her 'gang' as she solves a different mystery. While each book wraps up the individual story, I suggest starting from the beginning. You will not be disappointed. All of the characters bring something to the series. But I have to say, Gran is my fav. Full of humor and suspense along with mystery and a couple twists. There is even a touch of romance thrown in there. Fast paced reads written so smoothly you will not be able to put them down.
Jane Hinchley has writtn this Volume 1 about Harper Jones and from the first few pages it pulls you in. Stories of magic and witchcraft that are not just fun but exciting and pull the story in to all sorts of Good and bad happenings - not always going right. The characters are great each one in their own way adding to the stories.... and then there is Grandma she is probable THE best one in the book....kinky, crazy yet one super wise, clever and magical. Great ....recommend highly and am going on to Volume 2 for sure..
Harper and the gang are getting the murder board up. There are murders and mayhem in this great collection. Gran dresses anyway she wants, ugg boots and all. Jenna is a reporter for the local paper and hoping for a big story. Monica is a vampire and another good friend of Harper's. Great read.
Totally enjoyable, very imaginative, Characters have substance to them. Crazy Granny is something to experience! It may be paranormal but the plots you can live with. The other just makes them more interesting. Harper Jones , Monica and Jenna three friends since school days would be main characters and I really like them all. Well worth getting!!
This was a great introduction to a new to me author. I really enjoy the characters and especially because they are a little older... And Gram is an absolute hoot!
A wonderfully witchy cozy mystery series. Harper, a witch, her Gran, her familiar Archie, her fae friend Jenna, and her vampire friend Monica are trying to solve murders that are happening in their quaint little town. Lots of magic, laughs, and unfortunately murder.
Funny, intriguing, gripping. How much bad luck can the heroine have at times? But then with the help of a Gran and a great group of friends everything sorts itself out. With plenty of laughs and twists along the way! 😀👍
I enjoyed this couple of slow spots but a great light read , Grandma sounds wild , the way the parents were dropped into the storyline baffled me but it eventually worked out ,
This is a fun, fast-paced series for anyone who enjoys their paranormal cosy mysteries with some romance, quirky family members, and loyal friends. Thoroughly enjoyed these books and can't wait to read more!
This box set includes three well-written, madcap mysteries that follow witch Harper Jones, her grandmother, and her friends as they solve murders and kidnappings using intelligence mixed with a touch of magic. These books are worth the time to read and will leave you with a smile on your face.
Book 1: Witch Way to Murder & Mayhem
5 stars
This was a fun book to read, if you don’t factor in that it involves murder. Harper Jones has returned home to Whitefall Cove in disgrace, sort of. Her magic license has been suspended due to her losing her cool and turning her professor boyfriend into various creatures. Why? Because she caught in flagrante delicto with a student at a university event. Back home, she moves in with her grandmother, who everyone calls Gran, a witch with a style all her own. She exceenric, man crazy, and a gem of a character. She reminds me of Stephanie Plum’s grandmother, only better. Gran convinces Harper to buy the local bookstore in Whitefall Cove. She does, but before she can take possession of the property, a dead body shows up, and it’s Harper’s high school enemy and realtor. From there on, with the help of her friends, Jenna and Monica the vampire, and the dishy police detective, Jackson Ward, it’s a free fall of an investigation to find the murderer.
The writing is great, and the plot is filled with twists and turns that will keep you guessing to the end. The humor is scattered in perfect doses throughout the book and will have you giggling along with the action. And to top it all off, there’s a touch of romantic tension brewing.
The ending was great, and it tied up all the loose ends with a pretty bow, reading and waiting for book 2 in the series. If you enjoy cozy paranormal mysteries, you should enjoy this book.
Book 2: Witch Way to Romance & Ruin
5 stars
In this second book of the series, Harper and Gran are back. This time, Gran is preparing to enter a baking contest. Harper needs to rein in some of Gran’s antics, but did Gran do something before Harper had the chance to keep Gran in check?
When Gran’s biggest competitor in the annual baking contest turns up dead, Gran is the main suspect, and she’s arrested and put in jail. Can Harper clear Gran’s good name? When a handsome, high power attorney, a friend of Harper’s father, comes to their aid, anything is possible, even a bit of romance. Unfortunately, Harper’s parents, on their way home from Australia to lend support to their family, disappear. With Gran in jail, her parents missing, a dead body, and apparitions popping up, what’s Harper to do? Why solve the mystery, of course.
This book brings another madcap murder investigation, and it will send you on a maze of twists and turns. The characters are even better and more entertaining than in the first book of the series. I truly enjoyed reading this and watching the quirky characters figure out “who done it”. It’s funny and sweet, and it won’t leave you wanting.
Book 3: Witch Way Down Under
4 1/2 stars
In the previous book in this series, Harper’s parents disappeared on their way home to lend support to their family. They just vanished with no trace. Now, in this volume, book three in this series, Harper, Gran, Jenna, and Blake, the handsome attorney, head off to Australia in the hope of finding the Joneses. Meeting and joining them is Remy, a field agent of the Bureau of Occult Research and Defense. Remy has the skills to deal with the rough terrain of the Outback. Of course, murder victims appear to obstruct the search for Harper’s parents. And if that’s not enough, there’s black magic afoot. What can Harper do? Why, solve the mystery, of course.
Gran is slightly subdued in this episode in the series. That’s not surprising as her daughter and son-in-law are missing. Don’t be fooled though, she’s still her outrageous, lovable self, still dressing eccentrically and hitting on the much younger guys.
As for the other characters, Remy is just what Harper needs to navigate the caves her parents have been exploring. She’s well equipped to ferret out magic and deal with whatever surprise pops up along the way. She seemed a great friend to all. Jeanna’s always there to assist Harper. It’s the same in this book. Blake is the one who takes a funny turn, not in a ha ha way, but there is some humor there, too. It’s up to Harper to figure out a way to help him return to his bad boy self.
I did feel that the ending was just a little rushed; although, all the threads in the book did get tied up well in order to allow the Whitefall Cove group to return home.
This was a fun book with a taste of Down Under, and it will keep you guessing. Now, what will happen to Harper next?
I received this box set for free from the author. I thank her for her generosity, but it had no effect on the reviews of these books. All opinions in this review express my true and honest reactions to reading these books.
I was given advanced copies of some of these books as they were released.
Witch Way to Murder and Mayhem - 5 stars
Harper Jones is having a bad time of it when she loses her fiance, her job, an her magic all in one fell swoop. She returns to her hometown to lick her wounds and wait to see what she is going to have to do to regain her wand and her magic. Her grandmother, a totally ungrandmother like witch if I've never seen one, convinces her to buy the local bookstore which has been closed since the previous owner retired. Unfortunately, Harper's bad luck continues when she walks into the store to find the real estate agent dead on her floor.
Harper and her two best friends decide they are going to help solve the murder since Harper is initially suspect number 1. A good looking police detective provides some eye candy, and grandma makes everyone wish for selective blindness. Join in the fun, murder, and mayhem as clues lead to naught and close calls are the order of the day.
Witch Way to Romance and Ruin - 5 stars
Second book in a cute series about a witch, her hilarious grandmother, her friends, and her current love interest (who has his own love interest, and it isn't her). This time her detective love interest stuns her when he shows up and arrests her grandmother for murder. Her grandmother...murder. Come on, be real Jackson.
Harper is freaking out and calls her father, in Australia, to get his help hiring an attorney to represent her grandmother. When Blake shows up at her door, sorta, she is struck stupid. For some reason she is drawn to him immediately. Is it his bad boy vibe? Could she really forget Jackson that easily? Oh yeah, she can, at least until she sees him again. If she forgives him for the grandma arrest thing.
Meanwhile, there is the Whitefall Cove Annual Fundraiser Ball to get through, complete with surprise guest, unwelcome surprise guest. A move to a new place. Then there is her growing witchy powers. At least those are useful, if she can figure them out. And where the heck are her parents? They were supposed to be on their way. Uh oh.
Witch Way Down Under – 5 stars
In this book we have Harper, Jenna, Gran, and Blake off to Australia (too much sun for Monica, being a vampire and all) to find out what happened to Harper's parents. Apparently they were ticketed on a flight back to America and never got to the airport. They are met in Adelaide by Remy, a friend of Blake's who is an investigator for the Bureau of Occult Research and Defense and a former student of Harper's father. The group finds it difficult to get a line on what happened to the couple until they find evidence that black magic is being used to shield them. When bodies start turning up with their hearts cut out, the friends realize that time is running out. Will they be able to find Harper's parents before they too are sacrificed?
Great cozy mystery. All the clues don't come together until the end. Harper is still having man trouble. Blake is acting all weird and Jackson is back home in Whitetail Cove with his girlfriend Liliana, but he keeps texting her that he needs to talk to her. Men, sheesh.
A fun series of quirky mysteries, featuring a book loving witch, and her friends in small town America (except for the books where they travel elsewhere!). These cosy mysteries, paranormal style, are enjoyable, quick reads, with a magical witch heroine. If you enjoy a slice of magic with your mysteries then you’ll probably enjoy this series.
Witch Way Books 1 -3 Box set Witch Way Series: Witch Way to Mistletoe & Murder #1 - Gran had me rolling on the floor with belly laughs; I love that clotheshorse hussy. This is not your typical cozy murder mystery; there's actually interesting storylines, funny dialog, an interesting variety of characters, almost all likable. This clean story moves at a fast pace and there's plenty of intrigue. Gran plays a large part in this story, but she's family, she makes things happen and she's a good, loving support for Harper; plus her confidence and personality are over the top. There's substance in this story, not the typical drivel cozy, and the characters act mature and can think. I contacted the author to review her books. 5*
Witch Way to Romance & Ruin #2 - Gran is absolutely my favorite character; I love her spunk. This is a better read than the first book and it was good, too! The pace was fast and the storylines meshed from the first book into this one and grew with a couple of twists and new characters. There's more growth to all the characters and even the new ones are interesting. The dialog is filled with plenty of banter between the characters making for an entertaining read. Their humor and quickness of mind kept a perpetual smile or grin on my face. The mystery was better than the usual cozy, but Ms. Hinchey does have substance in her writing. I did enjoy the sexual tension, which I found well written and not full of the consistent, overdone references to hotness, bodyparts, sexthoughts that so many writers force on the reader with their lack of talent and need to place sex in every sentence. Flirting at its best. This is one series my great-grandkids can happily read and still see human nature. Next stop AU; not quite a cliffhanger, but the next book is setup and it's a trip down under. I contacted the author to review her books. 5*
Witch Way Down Under #3 – I laughed too much reading this book. I found it funny that the Americans spoke Aussie English, including their slang. Good storylines, well written and interesting, which kept me reading, and laughing. The characters are always realistic and have good dialog. Pretty good mystery with a twist; I only suspected one and it was not the obvious one. It is hard to write about this series, one of my few favorites, without it turning into a book report. I contacted the author to review her books. 4* Witch Way Series End.
I love this series. It's a fun and entertaining with interesting characters. Here are my reviews for each individual book.
(#1 Witch Way To Murder And Mayhem, formerly Witch Way To Mistletoe And Murder) Fun way to start the series. I love this book. The characters were interesting (Gran was awesome, oh my goodness!). The story had a good pace. I normally overthink things and even I couldn't figure out who the murderer was until the author out and said it because there were enough characters with believable motives to keep me guessing. I can't wait to read the next installment. This was another great Jane Hinchey read that I would certainly recommend to others.
(#2 Witch Way To Romance And Ruin) Great continuation of Harper's Adventures. This was definitely a great continuation for the series. Harper's adventures are interesting and amusing, just like the first book. There was never a dull moment. We get to see the same characters as well as a bunch of new ones. I'm not as big of a fan of the new love interest, but I'm sure he'll grow on me. I liked that I wasn't able to solve the mystery right away. This book leaves you wondering about some things, but in a pleasant way. It absolutely makes you want to read the next one.
(#3 Witch Way Down Under) Another great continuation of the series. This book was another great addition to the series. The pacing was constant, just like the other Witch Way books. The characters are amusing as ever. The new characters are interesting as well. The culprit for the murder had some interesting and unusual motives. There was never one person that was obviously guilty. I questioned the whole time who could have done the crime, which was nice. There was even some interesting development in Harper's romance department. I'm definitely curious to see what happens with the next book.
I am voluntarily reviewing these books, gifted to me by the author, with no obligation.
ook 1 Witch Way to Murder and Mayhem This was a wonderful story with Harper who is a witch who had her powers suspended. When she returns to her home town the fun really begins. With great friends she works to solve a murder and has lots of interesting surprises along the way. Jackson who is the detective and also a necromancer was also a fun character and I look forward to more of these two in the future. A Gram who is a witch was such a character and had me chuckling more than once. Book 2 Witch Way to Romance and Ruin This was a great story and the second book. Harper is a great character who has some interesting friends and even more outrageous Gran. Lots of witchy fun while she again looks into a murder. Jackson is still the detective and we got another great character in Blake who is also a magical being. Some action and snarky humor made this a fun mystery to read filled with witchy fun! Book 3 Witch Way Down Under Harper and her friends are on another investigation along with her familiar Archie. Gran is still a hoot and this time they travel to Australia to find her missing parents. Plenty of twist and interesting plot with humor. Jackson is at home and Blake is along to help along with Jenna. Lots of surprises for Harper and a great story with some action for this witch. Loved the end! This was a great read.
Witch Way to Murder & Mayhem - 5 stars Harper, a witch that had The worst Day of Her Life - she had lost Her Job, Her fiance and Her powers(magic) - yes that's possible. Shocking right? As always these stories will be so much fun with characters and the plot! There will be mystery and humor! Join Harper and her crew in Australia!
This box set contains the first three books of the Witch Way series and is well worth the read. Witch Way to Murder & Mayhem: I enjoyed the characters introduced in this book - they were funny, helpful and entertaining while they helped Harper solve the murder. A few weak points but the characters helped get me over some of the rough spots. I am looking forward to more adventures with Harper and her Gran!
Witch Way to Romance & Ruin: This book revolved around Gran being accused of murder and Harper's drive to prove her innocence. As usual the characters are lovely and the mystery was just that - a mystery until the end. Nicely done with a hint of romance.
Witch Way Down Under: This book was funny and while not exactly light reading - there are a few dark moments - it was balanced with humour and well developed characters. I thoroughly enjoyed the book and am looking forward to reading the rest of the series.
If you love a good cozy mystery with a bit of humour then this boxset is one for you. The characters are so loveable and Gran whom you cant but help love has the best craziest dress sense ever. Harper is a strong lead character who once she knows what she wants she aims for it. You’ve then got the girlz Harper’s best friends and then there is the local police force which well lets just say that there does eventually end up with some friction happening.
Since moving back home Harper has been accused of murder, kidnapped and seems to be a magnet for death. It seems like every time things settles down another body turns up. I’ve had the pleasure of reading all of these books individually and found each book enjoyable and hard to put down.
This is the first three books in the Witch Way Murder Mystery Series in one set. If you haven’t gotten these books yet, you need too! These books are set in Whitefall Cove. Harper owns a bookstore and her Gran is absolutely hilarious! Harper and her friends and Gran help solve murders. This is a cozy, paranormal series with witches, a vampire, and other fun stuff. I highly recommend this series!
I just love a boxed series, don't you? And this one will tickle your funny bone, so beware, if you are reading in the wee dark hours you may find your self unexpectedly guffawing and waking the household. Aside from the entertaining aspects there is the mystery to keep you guessing but in all 3 books I didn't guess right once!
I enjoy this series a lot due to the authors excellent story telling ability and the character development. I read book 3&4 first so I jumped in the middle of Harper's adventures so I was pleased to see the box set with 1-3 together. Gran is great, a nice mixture of sage wisdom, fashion funk and zest for life. Harper and her friends solve murders, have fun and enjoy paranormal small town living.
What a fun and witchy cozy mystery series. The writing is fresh and skillful. The plot is tight and multi-layered and filled with believable characters. These are enjoyable reads and I’m looking forward to future installments. I received these books free and chose to make a voluntary, unbiased review.
