Silvija Šesto (Zagreb, 1962). Diplomirala je filozofiju i književnost. Piše za djecu i odrasle. Na radiju je emitirano četrnaest njezinih drama, a tri su izvedene u kazalištu. Za roman za mlade "Debela" dobila je nagradu “Ivana Brlić Mažuranić”, a stavljen je i na Časnu listu IBBY-ja. Za mlade je napisala i romane "Vanda", "Tko je ubio pašteticu", "Ružičasta sanjarica", "Djevac", te serijal priča "Bum Tomica (1, 2, 3)". Za odrasle je objavila zbirku priča "Ester i bageri", "Omčoglavci", roman "Dani plavi djevica", te tri zbirke poezije ("Krizanteme", "Kao katedrala", "Poglavica ne plače").
"Plima" was a Croatian prose and drama Magazine published from 1993 to 1996 by AGM. Most of us Authors who published our first stories in the Magazine published more than one, but most of us were presented in the Anthology "Plimaši" with only one story. My four stories published in the Magazine are different in theme, style, and length, and the Editor-in-Chief chose the shortest and most provocative story that fit her vision of the style of the Anthology. I would call the Anthology style "the child of Q. J. Tarantino and Madonna". Being a member of Magazine - being "Plimaš" did not mean being part of a generational story because the oldest to the youngest writer represented in the Anthology was sixteen years apart: the older generation born in 1961-1968 and the younger generation born in 1969-1976. The choice of authors is "problematic" because of the potential of the magazine "Plima", which was the creation of a generational story. The generational story was never established because the title of the Collection -Anthology is not "Plimaši: Beginners - Novice Authors". I believe that the style of the Collection -Anthology would make sense if "intruders" were thrown out of it, i.e. older, more mature Authors who had previously published their prose or dramatic works. At that time, we younger beginner Authors were either literally still in puberty or just out of puberty when we wrote our first stories. Because only "adolescent" rebellion against authority can justify the two legible appearances of the Collection -Anthology. The first is a dominant conversational "street" language of stories. The second is an extremely provocative avant-garde, liberal, anti-conservative rebellion against all authority and social conventions, which consists of a narrative whose goal is to cause shock through simple words, short sentences, explicit sexual experiences, blasphemy and perversion, philosophical verbal dialogue games, sudden fictional turns, superficial grasp of social (i.e. current war) events, etc. The Collection-Anthology is both a reminder of part of the Croatian literary production of the nineties and a reminder of the generations born in the early sixties who expected us younger people to accept their "Editorial rules of the game", which were the rules of the game of then older, more experienced and provocatively oriented intellectuals-artists who were supporters of the "Tarantino style".
