A truly sumptuous treasure. The illustrations alone are breathtaking works of art, and combined with Austen’s prose, the whole proved so achingly beautiful and tender that I wept quite openly.

This little anthology is beautifully illustrated and has a wonderful selection of passages from Jane Austen's works. The anthology also includes quotes and extracts from letters, either concerning Jane Austen herself or her works.
The anthology makes it clear that Austen, was greatly respected by fellow authors, such as Lord Tennyson and Sir Walter Scott
This a great little introduction to the world of Austen for people who have never read one of her novels. However it is also a good little reminder to those Austen fans of what a talented writer she was.
My only criticism is that it could have had a bit more about Austen in it, maybe at the beginning.
Otherwise a fabulous little read, I highly recommend.
