Ale Emma to nie tylko kolejna książka o perypetiach matrymonialnych w XIX w. Anglii. To przede wszystkim błyskotliwa komedia omyłek, której przedmiotem jest gra pozorów, somooszustwa i iluzje, jakich dostarczają nam w nadmiarze nasz egoizm i zadufanie. W samym środku intrygi zaś stoi niezwykła bohaterka, pełna życia i wigoru.
Jane Austen was an English novelist known primarily for her six novels, which implicitly interpret, critique, and comment upon the English landed gentry at the end of the 18th century. Austen's plots often explore the dependence of women on marriage for the pursuit of favourable social standing and economic security. Her works are an implicit critique of the novels of sensibility of the second half of the 18th century and are part of the transition to 19th-century literary realism. Her deft use of social commentary, realism and biting irony have earned her acclaim among critics and scholars.
The anonymously published Sense and Sensibility (1811), Pride and Prejudice (1813), Mansfield Park (1814), and Emma (1816), were a modest success but brought her little fame in her lifetime. She wrote two other novels—Northanger Abbey and Persuasion, both published posthumously in 1817—and began another, eventually titled Sanditon, but died before its completion. She also left behind three volumes of juvenile writings in manuscript, the short epistolary novel Lady Susan, and the unfinished novel The Watsons. Since her death Austen's novels have rarely been out of print. A significant transition in her reputation occurred in 1833, when they were republished in Richard Bentley's Standard Novels series (illustrated by Ferdinand Pickering and sold as a set). They gradually gained wide acclaim and popular readership. In 1869, fifty-two years after her death, her nephew's publication of A Memoir of Jane Austen introduced a compelling version of her writing career and supposedly uneventful life to an eager audience. Her work has inspired a large number of critical essays and has been included in many literary anthologies. Her novels have also inspired many films, including 1940's Pride and Prejudice, 1995's Sense and Sensibility and 2016's Love & Friendship.

يتكلم الكتاب عن إيما وودهاويس الفتاة الإنجليزية الثرية و التي تعتقد بأنها تعرف كل شئ و وفقاً لإعتقادها هذا تضرف بتصرفات طائشة، بدأً بهواياتها في تزويج من حولها (بالعربي خطابة😂😂)و انطلاقاً من تلك الهواية تأخذ على عاتقها مهمة تزويج الفتاة اليتيمة هارييت سميث زواجاً يليق بجمالها!
الكتاب يعطينا صورة عن شكل المجتمع الإنجليزي في القرن الثامن عشر، فجين أوستن في رواياتها بشكل عام تناقش هموم المجتمع في ذلك الوقت و لا سيما الطبقة المنوسطة في المجتمع كما أنها أخذت على عاتقها مناقشة قضايا المرأة و الزواج و غيرها من الأمور بطريقة خفيفة بسيطة فيها نوع من الكوميديا اللطيفة، بالمختصر المفيد كتاب مريح للقلب و الروح و كل كتبها بالنسبة لي هكذا
و بالنسبة لي شخصياتي المفضلة هم السيد نايتلي و السيد وودهاوس

S-ar putea ca cele 3 volume ale romanului Emma de Jane Austen să vă fie un “perfect match”...
Romanul începe cu bucuria une căsătorii, a unui “perfect match” făcut de către Emma - cea care se crede un adevărat Cupidon al împerecherii inimilor singure... Ah Emma, Emma... După primul volum te cam certam “Ei de ce-ți bagi nasul unde nu-ți fierbe oala?”... Ce a urmat? Descoperiți și voi!
Cine a mai citit romanul? PS Cind am terminat romanul am gasit și filmul apărut chiar anul acesta, recomand!
La data di edizione della mia copia è 1966: quando il libro entrò in casa. Troppo giovane. Lo lessi come uno dei romanzetti rosa con cui le nonne e le mamme della mia generazione predisponevano la (disastrosa) educazione sentimentale delle ragazze. Per circostanze del tutto fortuite mi sono trovata a rileggerlo in questi giorni, proprio dopo avere terminato Guerra e pace. La finezza della Austen nel tratteggio dei caratteri non ha nulla da invidiare a quella di Lev , l’incastro delle vicende (minuscole dove in Tolstoj sono grandiose) ricorda il classico orologio svizzero; l’ironia è usata con una discrezione e con una precisione in grado di restituire un mondo sociale (per fortuna) scomparso e nello stesso tempo di farne una critica lieve. E’ anche uno straordinario romanzo femminista (come si poteva essere femministe vivendo tutta la vita appartate in una parrocchia di campagna inglese alla fine del ‘700): anche la più antipatica delle protagoniste, Mrs. Elton, è davvero magnifica nel sostenere la sua parte di “rovescio della medaglia”. E la scrittura…la scrittura…ah!: miele per le mie orecchie (occhi? cervello?). Insomma: nonostante i grandiosi e commoventi affreschi di G&P, ai miei occhi la Austen batte Tolstoj 1 a 0 (si capisce che Lev mi sta un po’ antipatico?) Mi piacerebbe potere dire: Emma sono io, con i suoi slanci, la sua rettitudine e anche con i suoi difettacci, ma sono ormai troppo vecchia. Ragazze, procuratevi assolutamente una copia e ascoltate Emma parlare: ...ella allora, così pregata, parlò. Che cosa disse? Naturalmente ciò che doveva. Una signora fa sempre così...
إيما بطلة الرواية المغرورة التي تعتقد أنها تفهم كل ما يدور حولها ,, لم أستطع أن أحبها أو أتعاطف معها حتى آخر الرواية في تأنيبها لنفسها على ما فعلت و أخطائها في فهم ما و من حولها حتى صديقتها هاريت وصولا لانها لم تكن تفهم مشاعرها الخاصة أصلا ! عند تلك اللحظة لم أملك نفسي من التعاطف معها لانها تشبه الكثير منا الذين يقودهم سوء حكمهم إلى حدوث شرخ في علاقتهم بمن حولهم ثم تأتي مرحلة التأنيب و محاولة استدراك ما حدث . الرواية تصف اجتماعيات المجتمع الانجليزي وقتها بأسلوب نقدي سرعان ما تدركه تحديدا في حوارات إيما مع السيد نايتلي و هذه الحوارات هي تبادل لوجهات النظر غالبا (شخصيا) ما آخذ صف السيد نايتلي ( المجتمع الانجليزي وقتها كان مؤدب جداااا في اسلوب الحوار كعادته و لكنه كان نمام و حشري بطريقة لم أكن أتوقعها الحقيقة D: )
الرواية منذ بدايتها هادئة الاحداث قد تصل الى الملل في بعض الاوقات لكن لن تتسارع وتيرة الاحداث الا في آخر فصولها حينها تبدأ الاثارة :)
So after thousands of years, I'm finally finished Emma, and since the Olde English part of my brain is completely worn out, I'm announcing that I'm going to be taking a little break from the Austen. I also want to take a break from the epic anthology because I wasn't as big of a fan of Emma as I have been of the other Austen novels. Don't get me wrong, Austen's usually exquisite character development and coy and witty banter was ever present, I felt she dragged out the details and the ending (with all the good bits, tying of loose ends and happy endings) was too short. I was also really distracted and had to stop and start a lot. Maybe I'll try reading it again in a little while so I can learn to appreciate it more. All in all however, Jane Austen is still a super fave of mine.
