How to be a Buddhist Millionaire: 9 Practical Lessons to Being Happy in a Materialist World

Rate this book
Do you feel stuck, and yet fear change? Is the daily pressure of bills and deadlines keeping you trapped in an unfulfilling job? In How to be a Buddhist Millionaire , Matt Jardine, martial arts teacher and entrepreneur, explores the question of how to find purpose and fulfilment in a money-centric world. Skilfully blending Buddhist teachings and down to earth advice, he presents nine practical lessons to help you find your passion, and make it pay. With wisdom and insight, Jardine overturns many of our deep-rooted assumptions about the world and shows us that the "truths" we live by every day are not always as they seem. This book teaches us that money doesn't have to be a dirty word, and that if you search for happiness rather than the pot of gold, success is more likely to follow.

I'm Matt Jardine, fiction and non-fiction author, podcaster and teacher.

My latest book, 'How to be a Buddhist Millionaire' was selected in 2021 as a finalist for the Eric Hoffer Book Award.

I'm a Londoner born and bred, but am now travelling the world to different countries, different cultures, different points of view.

If I had to sum up my work with a motto if would be this:

"Life is a pilgrimage. It has its ups and downs, highs and lows, dark times and those filled with light. But as a wise person once told me: it sure does have a funny way of working out in the end."

We're taught at an early age that making money is a primary goal in life.
And yes, if you want to purchase and consume in a constant loop, money is required.

However, since early 2020, I believe, and hope, that we all see things a bit differently?
With ever-increasing costs on goods and services ... what is it that makes you happy and full?
Is it money?
Or is it connectivity with people and the relationships you form with them?

This one made me think.
So, if you want to think, read it.

It is a very well described outline and motivation to go after your dream life, that shows how to start the journey and what to expect on the path to success. However, the examples and activities used are a bit weak. I wanted a little more substance and deeper reflexions.

This book was super interesting and insightful! Written in a way that was really easy to understand- super well explained. I will definitely re-read this book when I’m older as I am still a student and lots of the career things didn’t currently apply to me. However it really helped me think about where I want my life to go and how to get there. Full of fabulous anecdotes and exercises!
Definitely a worth a read
