Dayton #1

No Prince

Rate this book
Zepp Hunt wasn’t the king of Dayton high school. He was the top of the food chain. And I was next in line to be dragged into the lion’s den. At least that’s what he thought…

Good girls wanted to tame him. Bad girls want to be tainted by him. Everyone bowed down to him. And me?
I hated Zeppelin Hunt with every fiber of my being.
Which was why I stayed away from the arrogant bad boy with tattoos and a rap sheet.
Until I couldn’t.
Until we traded favors, and I owed him three months of my life. I never thought I would end up in his bed, and when I did, I had to remind myself that he hated me as much as I hated him.
Until I didn’t.

Zepp Hunt was no prince, and I absolutely refused to be his damsel in distress…

This book bypassed 5 stars and went straight to a favourite read of 2020!

So I went into this one not really knowing what to expect, but knowing that when these two team up they create magic! And they didn't disappoint with this book. The synopsis doesn’t give much away, but as soon as I started this, I was hooked, and I haven't been pulled in like these two did for a while now.

Sometimes I worried my brother was a complete mental case and that it was my fault for whacking him in the head with a wiffle ball bat repeatedly when he was five.

A town divided, rivalries at each other's throats out for blood, On one side of town you have the trailer park white trash, these bad boys rule their side of town with an iron fist, not allowing poverty to beat them down, from selling drugs to stealing cars just to make it to the next rent payment. Dayton was the mange-riddled lions and Barrington were the sleek gazelle, ripe for feasting. It was just the circle of life. To the boys on the other side of town who were born with a silver spoon in their mouths. From their flash cars, to the girls on their arms.

Dayton was like a spiderweb, and the harder someone fought to get free of it, the more tangled up they got in its invisible, sticky threads.

Zepp did whatever he could to take care of his brother Hendrix, from stealing to dealing, so when an opportunity arises with Monroe he takes it. She's the girl he's had his eye on for a while. Now she's got three months under his thumb and he's going to milk it for what it's worth.

In Dayton, we all made money the way we could. And there weren't many options that were good.

The angst, the drama and the feels all came at me like a tornado! I laughed, I swooned, I loved, I fell hard, I craved more! I absolutely loved it. Every page pulled me in deeper and deeper. The characters were relatable and real. the storyline was addictive, I lived, breathed, inhaled this book, it felt like was right there beside them trying to break through the hooks of poverty.

91715637-663998354145024-8621453896696463360-n

These two were perfectly imperfect but perfect together!!

This was the best book to chase those quarantine blues! I haven’t felt like reading, or writing up reviews, my concentration has been crap, book after book I’ve struggled..Until now!

Without further ado, come release day, one click, I guarantee you won’t regret it! This book is not your normal run of the mill romance!! Get ready to fall in love!!

I want/need to go back in this world!

Unsupervised teens living in and around a trailer park, selling weed, stealing cars and stripping in order to survive...

Not my usual fare, but this was hilarious, sexy and entertaining, even though the MC's seemed far too mature to be High School seniors. The best part of this book was the heroine's refusal to tolerate bullshit from the H, his pals and from the pathetic wannabe OW, Leah.

The heroine even breaks the wannabe OW's nose during a scene at the shopping mall, after the OW tells her that she deserved it when the quarterback drugged her and almost raped her !

And the OW's nose is left with an unsightly bump, that deflates her vanity just a little...

The H never had sexual intercourse with the OW; probably 'cause she sleeps with his brother, all his friends and then some ! Or maybe he's just uninterested in grand canyon bungee jumping. But he did accept a few token blow jobs...

For those who are interested, the H's token blow jobs, from the OW, had happened before the start of the novel. And he refused all of the OW's offers, after he met the heroine. Incidentally, has anyone ever wondered why OW are always so eager to offer gratuitous blow jobs to heroes, in romance novels ? Maybe I'm too sheltered, or maybe I don't know any hoes in real life, but I just can't see most women behaving like that.

The H Zepp and his brother Hendrix ( their mom must've been a big rock music fan ), made me lmao at their crazy, illegal and outlandish shenanigans. And when they teamed up with the heroine, I totally saw them growing up to be like gang from the Nicholas Cage film, Gone... In 60 Seconds.

Of course, unlike in the movie, these teens only steal cheaper cars, cause they don't have the connections to get rid of the high end ones.

But enough about that and on to the review...

This is a novel about a group of high school kids living in a small Alabama town. These kids are unsupervised and have to fend for themselves. The H and his brother have been living on their own, since the H was 15. Child Protective Services just assumed that their uncle was living with them, as their guardian, after their mother was murdered.

In real life, wouldn't CPS send out their people regularly, to check in with this family just to ensure that the kids of a murdered lady, were doing OK ? That's one huge plot hole that bothered me a little.

This is the H, Zepp ( full name Zeppelin )

The heroine's mom is a useless crack ho, whose current boyfriend, Jerry, multitasks as a pimp, car thief and drug dealer. Monroe, the heroine, has to support herself by stripping at the local club. It's not something she enjoys and she's not a prostitute. But her mother's incapable of paying the bills and she doesn't want to be removed from her trailer park home, to somewhere that might be worse. Most importantly, stripping is preferable to prostitution.

This is the heroine, Monroe:

The MC's get off to a rocky start, when the H steals a car from the heroine, that she'd stolen before he could steal it, from the original owner...

Well, it's complicated, but this sums it up:

🚐 Monroe's bullying stepfather Jerry sends her to steal a specific car. If she fails, Jerry will beat her up.

🚗 Zepp was there because he wanted to steal that car too.

🚗 Monroe kicked him in his balls, after making him think he'd get a blow job.

🚗 While he's writhing in pain, she's stealing the car !

🚗 But she's kinda dumb enough to park the car, next to her trailer and cover it with a tarp.

🚗 The H steals the car right from outside her trailer, causing Jerry to slap her and threaten further beatings unless she gets back the car.

Anyway, these 2 end up striking a deal afterwards, that puts them in each other's company more often than not. The H soon finds himself obsessing more about the feisty redhead heroine and less about all the OW who usually prostrate themselves at his feet, begging for the dubious glory of providing blow jobs.

Between school and their illegal activities, these MC's find time to fall in love, mete out some vengeance to those horrible rich kids from the snooty high school in their town and try to stay one step ahead of the law. Lucky for them, the lawman who's always after them, is about as inept and bungling as Roscoe P. Coltrane from the old The Dukes of Hazzard tv series.

Everything was going well for the teenaged couple, until the heroine did something incredibly stupid, causing the H to step in and take the fall. The poor guy ended up spending one year in jail for a crime he didn't commit.

But what I enjoyed most about this book was:

🌹 A besotted and possessive hero, who would make the ultimate sacrifice for his girl;

🌹 Tons of hilarious scenes that made me hysterical with laughter;

🌹 The villains, including Jerry, got their comeuppance;

🌹 The MC's end up engaged to be married, the heroine enrolls at a college in Alabama and the H becomes a mechanic instead of a weed dealer and a car stealer.

I'm really hoping the author will write a novel that focuses on Hendrix, the H's hilarious younger brother. He was the most awesome scene stealer, in the story.

Safety: No cheating, the heroine is a virgin stripper and both MC's are celibate during their separation. The H isn't one of those teenaged manwhores who bury themselves in tons of OW, when he's depressed things aren't going well with the heroine.

It's not very often that when you read a book that even when you have finished, it stays with you.
That is what this book completely did.

This isn't your regular bully romance, it is so much more and delivered with such a spin on the high school romances that are out there today. From the moment I started this book, I could not put this book down.

In this book we are introduced to Zepp and Monroe.
This is their love story.

The Story takes a lot of twists and turns when Monroe ends up owing Zepp for helping her. This is where it all starts, which soon turns enemies into lovers. Monroe and Zepp have so much chemistry and it was dripping off the pages, it was certainly hot reading about it, but let me tell you. Besides all the hot reading you may be reading, there is more to this story then just that.

Monroe is such a strong willed and sassy girl but deep down she is just like us all, she is vulnerable and has a soft core. She wants to become something but in the town that she lives in it makes it hard. Monroe hasn't had the best upbringing and is why she is trying to get out of town and is doing things that some people have to do to survive, to make money.

Zepp is your typical alpha bad boy, he drinks, smokes, plays around and generally doesnt care about anyone outside of his circle. Zepp was absolutely everything that I look for in books. Zepp will do anything for the people he loves especially for his brother and is just surviving day to day life. When it comes to his relationship with Monroe, he was absolutely perfect for her and to be honest I could not see him with anyone else but her.

They are true soulmates who not only loved each other but needed each other.

When reading, I couldn't get over how believable and relatable these characters are. So many people out there will have either experiences some of the events that occurred throughout this book or know someone who has.

The angst, the drama and the feels will all come at you at full force and I was left standing there with my arms out saying Give it to me Baby. Not only does that all hit you but your hit with laughter, reading moments that you absolute swoon about and fall even more in love with.

Every page pulled me in deeper and deeper. The storyline was addictive, I lived, breathed, inhaled this book like no tomorrow.

Oh, and Hendrix? Damn, I hope he gets his own book.

Considering this book was written by two authors, this book flowed so perfectly that I couldn’t tell who wrote what and to be honest I thought one author wrote this book.

Hands down to Stevie and LP Lovell for giving us this book.

”Don’t you need to throw up or something by now?”
“Nope. Just laying here. With your dickness.”

’Zepp was a thug, but I could no longer convince myself that he was bad. And in a world of pure shit, not bad was practically angelic.’

’as she brushed past me and into my room.
Into. My. Room.
With any other girl, that would have meant game on. But with Monroe...I had started to think if I could get in a session of dry humping, I would be doing good.’

call me a cliche but the way the girls r special for the boys always gets me

”Human connection is a lie we tell ourselves we need. We don’t need anyone but ourselves, and it’s best that way.”
Even for me, that was fucking sad. “You want to be alone then?”
The papers rustled when she flipped them. “I just want something real.”
“And how will you know when something is real?”
“Do you draw what you feel?” she asked.
“Avoiding my question?” I touched a hand to the page. “It’s the only way I can draw. Otherwise, it’s just shit.”
Her eyes narrowed as she stared at a spot on the wall. “I don’t know. I guess...it’s real when you trust someone.”
And before I even realized that I had verbalized it, I asked her, “Do you trust me?”
“Yes.” Another flipped page.
“Why?”
Her fingers gripped the edge of the book, and this time she hesitated before her gaze met mine. “Because you gave a shit. And no one else ever has.”

”Is this where you kill me and hide my body in the trunk of some scrap metal?” Monroe asked, staring at me from the other side of the chain links.
“Maybe.”
She quickly climbed up, slinging a leg over before she jumped, landing on her feet beside me.
“So, you think I’m gonna kill you, but you’re still here, huh?”
“Yeah, well, I trust you.”
And that...made me feel like I was worth something to her. And I liked it and hated it at the same time.

not bad not good. (like the majority of books ive read lately, all 2-3 stars). both mcs were cool. zepp aint bad monroe aint bad. the chemistry was actually there and man this had potential. but it felt messy overall (the story dragged for me)

NO PRINCE by Stevie J. Cole & LP Love is the story of Monroe 'Roe' James and Zeppelin 'Zepp' Hunt.
Monroe is in a bad situation where her mother is a deadbeat druggie who has abusive boyfriends who sometimes like now are drug dealers. Monroe has goals set for herself to not be anything like her mother and she wants to get out of Dayton. Monroe has been doing things to get her on that path that sometimes isn't always good. When she ends up needing something from Zepp who she hates tells her that he will basically own her for three months. Zepp is Dayton High School 'King' where all the students girl or boy wants something from him. Zepp is not a easy person to like and he doesn't really care that you do or don't. What Zepp cares about is his brother and will of course do anything for him. Zepp finds Monroe different in that she isn't one of the students trying to get close to him and they have a sort of enemies status. But, now he has her in his control. This puts them getting to know each other and finding that they are so different. It just takes their attraction to each other to the next level. Overall really enjoyed their story.

Zepp and Monroe superiority ♥️ Was rly not expecting to love this as much as I did. The development of their relationship felt so organic, and I liked that even tho he was 'bad boy' 'king' or whatever, he never treated Monroe like shit and they were always on equal ground. He was an animal on the outside and deep and caring on the inside, my fav. I also liked that they had a good amount of time as a couple but it never got boring. I feel like a lot of times the couple finally gets together and then the book just ends, or they get together and it's boring. The pace was perfect here. My only complaint was that I didn't love the ending. Side note tho, I'm pretty happy that Zepp fulfilled my fantasy of the mechanic who dons the dickies jumpsuit.

Wow! I've always been a massive fan of this duo, I love every book that they wrote, own or collaborated on. they have this mystic in creating a world and building up the right character for their story. And now they released an angsty high school bully romance which I'm a sucker of, I am so ecstatic.

Before finishing reading this book, I'd engulfed every page of it, I'm pleased that this is a full-length novel.

Zeppelin Hunt is your typical bad boy covered in tattoos that you can't help to fall in love with despite his reputation. Monroe James, on the other hand a badass, sassy and don't give a shit chick persona. The two both came from the wrong side of the track, Roe being white trash and Zepp being a bad boy.

What I love most about the book, is that the author capitalized on the relationship-building between our main characters. With the right amount of angst and anticipation within the story. I find myself laughing at all the funny banters and dialogues being thrown in ♡.

Zeppelin Hunt as a personality might not be a book boyfriend material for some, yet once you get to know and get into the depth of his nature you will find yourself rooting for him. as for Monroe James, I can't say enough for her character, she and he are a match made, no doubt.

And if you're looking for something angsty, dark with has a bully element and will knock you out, pick out No Prince

Highly recommend!

2 Stars!
I really love both of these authors and was super excited to see they wrote another book together. I gave it two stars because I loved the first half.
This book started off really good and had so much potential but it sadly fell flat for me around halfway through. I’m so disappointed that the plot was there and they did nothing with it. I started skimming around 60% and should of just added another one to my DNF pile. The ending was bla! I’m seriously wondering if these two crazy ass authors who I really love really wrote this. Lol

I’ll still be reading more of their books but I pray they go back to their normal writing style because this was bust!

It is puzzling to me why the story kept my interest when I didn't like the hero, Zepp, wasn't crazy about the heroine Monroe and disliked to hated some of the secondary characters.

SPOILERS INCLUDED BELOW

Lets start with Zepp. I disliked most things about him. He is a manhoe with zero respect for women. He treats them like dirt under his shoes, like Kleenex. Actually he treats everyone poorly with the exception of a few friends, his disgusting brother and eventually the Monroe. Not only that but he continues to be a manhoe after wanting the Monroe. Big no for me. I can stomach manhoes but only if they stop spreading STDs after meeting their heroines. Zepp didn't. He continued on his manhoe ways even after fantasizing and wanting her about her. Sure they didn't have much interaction for years but still. If hero is longing for a heroine then I need him to be faithful to her and that so didn't happen with player Zepp.

Other great things about Zepp. He is a rebel without a cause. He is a drug dealer, drug user and steals. Sure he has an excuse as to why but there is no mention or even suggestion given that he tried to make money in legal ways. Also he steals for fun and sometimes things with very little value, like a cat collar. He smoke a lot including pot. It was excessive and I got tired of reading about his always having a joint or cigarette in his mouth. In addition Zepp is very violet. Zepp loves using his baseball bat. He is always beating other people up with very little provocation. Also while not as bad as his younger brother, Zepp is crude. He cusses a lot. He says nasty things to teachers including over loud speakers and to crowds of students and yet there are very few repercussions. Sure sometimes Zepp gets suspended for a few days but that is the worse of it. Zepp always complain how many breaks the rich kids get and how much power they have but when he comes to school, Zepp rules and he knows it. Of course all the girls want to sleep with him no matter how horrible he acts and treats them. Rich, poor or middle class; it doesn't matter if Zepp just met them or has known them for years, they all open their legs for him and fight over him because he is such as prize.

Let's talk about Monroe. The writer when out of her way to try to make Monroe unique but at least for me, it didn't make me like her or admire her and she was a stereotypical heroine in one way. Monroe is a stripper but also, ready for it? A virgin. Really? Of course because we must pair the manhoe with a virgin. That is so not unique but rather stereotypical for romances especially NA ones. So even though Monroe is our rebel bad girl in other ways including stealing, smoking pot, drinking to excess, cussing, is violent, loves tight, very short clothes and, has an addict for a mother she is an innocent virgin. Just disappointing really. Also all the men want and/or try to rape her. The only consensual sexual experience she had before the hero lasted a few weeks and no pleasure was given to her. Nope. Apparently it was too much that our bad girl heroine actually have a positive sexual experience before meeting the hero.

The secondary characters were not any better. They were mostly criminals and/or rapists and violent and/or drug dealers and/or users or the stereotypical rich brats, slutty girls or other rebels without causes and those are just the students. The adults were not any better as they were those things as well as killers or vigilantes or just mean and/or idiotic teachers. Also throw in that both the hero and the heroine's mothers were addicts and the deadbeat father's absent.

The hero's brother, Hendrix, who I think was around 16 years old, made my stomach turn. Totally disgusted me. His mouth and body are a sewer. He has no problem going to the bathroom while the heroine is in the shower, talking about how he had to get his "dingle berry hanging out of my spider hole". One of his ways to have fun and get revenge is to smear his diarrhea all over cars.

Also apparently Hendrix is more of a manhoe and chick magnet that Zepp, which according to the heroine is a feat in itself. Actually with how gross he acts it is not credible that Hendrix can go into a party and within 5 minutes of being there screwing a girl he just met in the bathroom. When Zepp wanted to leave one party that they were at Hendrick's response to him was to let him "chase nut with whatever's chick's name and pound her in the bathroom". This was said right in front of the girl and she pretended that she didn't hear what he said. Yes, apparently all women are hoes and lacking in brain cells in this story except for Monroe. Also he, like his brother, is violent and uses any excuse to beat up people.

There were two secondary character who I initially liked. One of them was Jade, the heroine's best friend. She seemed level headed and was a good student. Unlike Monroe Jade was atypically in positive ways. In response she kept been called "weirdo" and worse by Zepp, his brother and gang of friends. My liking for her took a dive though when she voluntarily entered into a sexual relationship with one of Zepp's loser's friends whose name I forgot. He like Zepp and Hendrix was a manhoe, druggie and violent and continued to be while still sleeping periodically with Jade. Bad move Jade. She became another hoe to be used and treated like trash.

The other character I at first liked was Chase. He too, according to the heroine was a close friend that she grew up with and was good to her. However Monroe didn't act like it. She treated him poorly, going off on him for very little reason even though he tried to protect her. Then he was made into a bad guy, because it would make the hero look bad if a man was actually decent to her except him. Chase acted all the typical jock and then tried to kiss her. Later he said that he was sorry but that he always loved her and wanted to be with her. In response Monroe ghosted him, thinking that all men were dogs except of course Zepp and that she should have known better.

What did I like about the story? A few things. The one thing I liked about Zepp was that he was jealous and possessive and it showed. Also a positive for me. Also at least after he started getting physical with heroine he kept it in his pants. Also there was a HFN ending (although I don't believe it) and the book is a KU read.

With No Prince, my favorite duo of authors once more brought out a riveting story.

That modern version of the War of the Buttons is set in a little town where a war rages between the kids from the poor area of Dayton and those of the rich area of Barrington.

“Barrington emptied a garbage bag on Wolf’s truck.”Wolf crumpled his straw paper up and tossed it to the floor.   “Diapers and tampons and shit.”

Between pranks that had me smiling so big and bullying and unfairness that made me so angry, I felt for Monroe and Zeppelin (how awesome are those names, right?)

In that heartbreaking atmosphere, in their broken families, with their touching tribes, they adapt, they fight and they love. At turns, Roe's dreams gave me hope, whereas Zepp's bitterness and resignation saddened me.

"A guy who used to be a player and was taken to his knees by a girl who stole his heart."

In No Prince, L.P Lovell and Stevie J. Cole wrote a clerverly well-balanced tale of raw emotions, sweet feelings and poignant situations. They built the intensity and created a love story as beautiful as torrid and sincere.

“You once said I was broken. But you’re only really broken when you lose hope.”

PS: Can i have more of Hendrix, please???

I VOLUNTARILY REVIEWED AN ARC COPY OF THIS BOOK. THANK YOU!!!

Wow! When these two authors get together the write nothing but pure magic! Genius!

I was a little anxious going in as High School isn't really my thing but i should have known this wouldn't be no ordinary High School bully romance. Nope not at all! It's a High School romance with some very jagged dark edges. Yes please!

Monroe is biding her time. The minute she turns 18 shes outta there. Stuck in a small town with a drugged out mom has never been easy but she's somehow managed to survive. She longs for the day she walks out that town for good.

Zepplin knows he'll never escape the small town he was born into but he's accepted that. He's the king of his little world and is ok with what he has. He has his younger brother and small group of friends he keeps close. He doesn't need anything else or so he thinks.

One night their world's collide and Monroe ends up in Zepplin's debt. This starts their journey of discovering something neither of them knew they needed or in fact wanted. Each other.

Where to start on my feelings for this book!

Zepp is everything you could wish for. Alpha bad boy with a heart of gold for whats his. He had it tough from a young age but i loved his resilience and attitude to life. In order to survive he did what he had to but under it all he's caring and loving to those he's close to. The way he was with Roe... just... swoon! He wasn't all soppy and romantic but you could just feel his attraction to her in every word written. I loved him so hard! Sexy is not a broad enough word to cover this guy! Hot, hot, hot with a pinch of "ohhh yeah" thrown in. Just all the yes pleases from me!

Monroe is THE girl! She's strong and feisty and equally as Alpha as Zepp. She took no messing from anyone. Her life was a constant battle and she'd toughened herself up to fight every last one of them! I loved how she needed no one. She did what she had to with one mind. To get out and be better than what she was dragged into. That was of course until she met Zepp. He's everything she never knew she wanted or could have. He allowed her to be vulnerable with him and i loved watching her walls come crumbling down around him. She's honestly someone you can admire for her strength and determination.

These two together were like clash of the titans! But under it all they were just two broken people who somehow found something good in a small world of bad. There were parts i could of cried for both of them. There were parts where i rooted for them to succeed. There were parts i had a good laugh at. They were just perfect for each other in world where there wasn't much of a life to be had.

The side characters are epic! Hendrix who is Zepp's brother will steal everyones heart! Funny, angry, psycho and sexy! Phew this boy better get his book turn or i'm hunting these authors down to make them write it! The other guys Wolf and Bellamy will also pique your interest. They definately have their own tales to tell. GIVE US ALL THE BOOKS!!

Loved the plot and the storyline it was unique and gripping. It was a great steady pace that will pull you in and make you become invested in the lives of these broken characters. It was a love story with dark jagged edges that was no where near perfect. But it was perfect for them.

5 glorious jagged stars! Highly recommend!

No Prince was exactly the book I was looking for when nothing else was caching my eye. I needed a badboy hero with a chip on his shoulder and that's exactly what I got with this book. More importantly, I loved the connection between Zepp and Monroe and how well matched they were! This was a fantastic read!

This book was a breath of fresh air from the typical bully romances. It was so much more than mean guy meets girl. No Prince was almost a battle between two alpha characters. Monroe was strong and assertive and definitely something that took Zepp by surprise. I loved the fiery banter and connection and loved how hooked I was to their story. While I did think the ending was somwhat rushed, overall this story was great! 4 stars! ~Ratula

Okay, so I thought this book couldn’t get any better but the more I read, the more I realized that in fact, it could.

This is the first book I’ve read by these authors but if it’s any indication of their creativity and writing skills then I want more.

While the book is marked at YA, I’m still trying to figure out it that’s the right genre, lol. The smut, the chemistry, and the shit they did is beyond what I expect from a YA novel. Especially as it touches on ‘real world’ shit themes.

In all, this books deserves more than 5 stars. Why, you ask? Because it was fucking brilliant. Now mind you I love lots of books and I label them as must re-read but this one deserved to go on that shelf, and also on the “out of this world amazing” shelf of mine. It really was that amazing.

While I could go on and summarize the book, I won’t. The book synopsis does a good job on enticing you. But the plot, the characters, the enemies-to-lovers trope, and the human-like relationships and dialogues between the characters were just that surreal.

Zepp can freaking get it. Monroe is actually a pretty feisty heroine — I’m a big fan of her, actually. And Hendrix, Zepp’s brother is really hilarious.

I don’t usually recommend books, but if you’ve liked my reviews thus far and we have similar book tastes and you really want something SPECTACULAR to read then freaking go ahead and read this book!!! And this, my dears, is my honest opinion.

And please please please let me know what you guys think if you go ahead and read it.

***5 "Be bad for me!!!" stars***

AVAILABLE NOW!

"I didn't need a white knight or a savior. This was not a fairytale. I was no damsel, and Zeppelin Hunt was certainly no prince."

This isn't your classical bully story and with these two authors, you should know better than assuming!!!!
The blurb doesn't catch almost anything of the atmosphere in here...
And this writing duet never disappoints...
It wasn't my first rodeo with these two, and what i really love with them is that you can't find flaws in the writing part... If you wouldn't know that they were two persons behind this book, you would believe that only one author have written this story...
And that is magical!!! No??? And very skillful!!!

"That's what love did. It made people blind. It made people do stupid things. Like stay in Dayton...

This story was very different from what i have used by Stevie J. Cole and L.P. Lovell, but it grabbed me from the first moment and i couldn't stop reading...
I loved Zeppelin and Monroe fiercely and i wanted to learn their story and their backgrounds...
These two were two kids from the wrong side of tracks...
Two kids with similar backgrounds, but with opposite dreams and aspirations...
But these two were fitting so good together... They were so good for each other even though they were leading a shitty life...

"It made me feel like I was important to him, and that was all any of us in this shitty life were really seeking: to mean something to someone."

Zepp was the bad boy with the bad reputation... And he was a bad boy....
A boy that he could do anything for some bucks... From stealing cars to dealing drugs...
His brother and his two best friends were meant the world to him and girls were only desposable, until Monroe got in his way and the game changed for both of them...

"She was one girl out of a million -and I guessed, maybe that was why it did bother me. She was the girl that had managed to catch my attention and the only one who didn't want it."

"I hated her almost as much as I wanted to fuck her."

Monroe wasn't a good girl... But you couldn't tell that she was a bad girl either...
She just had to do whatever she could to survive...
This last year and then she will kiss goodbye this shitty town and the shitty park trailer that she is living...
She had hopes and dreams and she was determined to succeed, but then... she had to struck a deal with the devil.... and Zepp took away three months of her life...
Will her heart and life remain untouched from crossing paths with Zepp???

"I had a single dream: to get away from Dayton. This town was a cesspool, pulling people under, drowning them in its filth."

"Fighting him was pointless. He always won because I'd sold my soul.
For three whole months.
For a damn shitty car."

Well, honestly, i don't know how much to say about this story, other than i loved it very much...
Our heroes were full of flaws and weaknesses, but together they could create magic...
Magic in the weirdest place when they had stucked in between a nasty rival between two small towns...
They had found in each other a safe haven when everything were falling apart around them...
And their love were the greatest gift in this shitty conditions that they were living...
But is love enough???

"The lines between us were shifting. We'd been enemies, but we weren't that now. I told him we were friends, but we weren't that either and I wanted something from him. I just didn't know what."

"He made me want to break for him, because that kiss said he'd catch my scattered pieces and rearrange them in the shape of him. Hard and indestructible."

I loved very much Zepp and Monroe...
I liked that Monroe wasn't backing down in anything and i loved how well she was playing Zepp...
Zepp was needed a girl like her... A girl that wouldn't try to fix him, but accept him as he was and that girl was Monroe...
Zepp proved to us that he was more than a statistic, cause he could sacrifice everything for the one that had win over his heart...
This two together were explosive in every way and i enjoyed their company way too much!!!

"Every fiber of me knew he was a bad idea, but he also felt like the only safety in a world of chaos. Dangerous. So very dangerous."

"Monroe James wasn't as all what I had thought she was-what anyone thought she was. And she was so much better than I deserved."

And now I'm wondering...
Is it a possibility for this writing duet to give us more books about this bunch???
There were too many possibilities in here with Wolf and Jade, with Hendrix and Bellamy that i would love to read...
Please consider to pick up this book!!! It was just perfectly imperfect!!!

"So, you think I'm gonna kill you, but you're still here, huh?"
"Yeah, well, I trust you."
And that... That it made me feel like I was worth something to her. And I liked it and hated it at the smae time."

‘They were always the heroes, and we were always the villains.’

No Prince by Stevie J Cole and L P Lovell was reminiscent of those bad boy romances we used to love. The type of stories that are just so messed up you can’t help but fall in love with them in all their ugly and raw hopelessness and fierce passion. These two Authors nailed the sense of despair, the gut wrenching fight to not repeat the mistakes of those who came before and that inherent survival instinct of those who must fight in life to stay above the waterline and keep breathing without drowning.

‘Some girls saw Zepp in all his brooding, shithead glory, and they wanted to either be used by him or save him.’

Monroe and Zepp stole our hearts, for different reasons and some the same. Two kids just trying to stay alive under immense social pressure and inequalities. You don’t get to choose the life in which you’re born into or the hand which you’re dealt. Neither Monroe nor Zepp were born into money or comfort or even love. Both have struggled since day one. So is it any wonder their path veers into the grey and off the beaten track, rather than along the clear, straight and narrow?

‘She was the girl that had managed to catch my attention and the only one who didn’t want it.’

Hate runs ever so deep, as does resentment. Especially when those given an easier path abuse their privilege and social standing. Monroe is getting by in life on her own and dreaming of getting out of the rough trailer park in her hometown of Dayton. Whilst she’s both fierce, strong and independent, deep down all she wants is a better opportunity in life and ultimately to be loved and wanted. She’s vulnerable and in a precarious situation at home.

‘Zeppelin Hunt would always be the boy who had shown me what love was, even when he couldn’t love himself.’

Zepp is living by the skin of his teeth on the wrong side of the law, dealing in petty crime, trying to keep a roof over his and his brother’s head. He’s a tattooed bad arse with a provoking arrogance and a love them and leave them attitude. Using people to satisfy his urges, whatever they may be. However, underneath that cocky and rough exterior lies a battered heart surrounded by concrete walls, a heart that wants to love and be loved in return, yet is scared to.

“I’m gonna go to jail for something, Roe. Might as well be you.”

Both Monroe and Zepp skate the fine line of morality and whilst they’re not particularly endearing characters, they certainly deserved more than what they were given and we wanted them to find some kind of peace, despite them living somewhat unapologetically. We wanted them to find that ultimate love in each other, as both loved fiercely when opening themselves up fully without regrets.

“It’s not pretty.”
“The truth never is. Anything pretty is always a lie.”

No Prince was flawlessly written and ever so compelling. It had intense emotions and we couldn’t help but eventually fall in love with Zepp and Monroe, who both masked their vulnerabilities in order not to be hurt any more than the hurt life had already exposed them to. The angst was palpable and the struggle heart-breaking.

“Everything I did was because I loved you.”
“Then I don’t want your love because it hurts.”

This was not a fairytale. I was no damsel, and Zeppelin Hunt was certainly no prince.

I read this book on a whim, never having read the authors before and I’m so glad that I did. This isn’t your normal love story. It’s raw, gritty and it hurts.

Zeppelin Hunt would always be the boy who had shown me what love was, even when he couldn’t love himself.

Zepp has just stolen my heart. Both him and Monroe have been dealt shitty hands in life but when life keeps kicking them down they get straight back up. One night leads to a messy love story that even I couldn’t have predicted. Their love for each other was angsty, it was messy and it was pure.

Could you love someone so much that you would sacrifice your own happiness to give them the life that they deserve?

If you love stories about love that shouldn’t work, people who will go through shit time and time again just to better themselves and a love so passionate that you don’t know if it will ever end up working then read this book. I read it in one sitting and couldn’t put it down.

I love these authors, therefore, I’m disappointed that I have to write a three-star review on one of their books.
I don’t like not finishing books when I have to review them, so I finished this although I knew from the very early stages that I wasn’t going to enjoy this read. I couldn’t connect with the characters. I didn’t detect a plot arc that was satisfactory and enough to keep me intrigued for the duration of this novel. If this was mainly a romance, then it was executed badly. It felt too long and with too little depth in it or let’s say that the depths it could’ve explored were sadly not explored. I kept thinking about books that were fairly similar to it and I compared them in my mind, deciding that No Prince just didn’t reach any of my standards. I didn’t connect with Roe. I wanted to like Zepp and his brother Hendrix with their lovely names and all, but I just didn’t care. Hendrix had his funny moments, but there was simply something missing, unfortunately. If I had to describe it, I’d say that it was what the convenient soft dark bully romance formula is without adding a new twist to it to make it captivating. There were glimmers of hope; Zepp with his artsy side and Roe with her future. I’m also considering that perhaps I just don’t understand or care enough for the experience that people like these characters have, but then again, I liked Havoc At Prescott High. I felt like there was this fake wokeness to the characters in their inner monologues where they reflected on the situations they or their friends were in when they were doing not-so-woke things in the rest of their page time. If there had been a more eminent threat in the story (there was a good villain choice in Roe’s life, but it wasn’t handled in the presence of the leads) then I’d feel more for Roe and Zepp. It appeared to me that they started out as a bully romance that seemed very convincing, as it should, and then they went insta-love the next day. There’s usually a balance to hate/love in these stories that the authors regrettably didn’t reach for me. I’m very sorry to write this review, but I’ll keep reading these authors’ stories because they have a special place in my dark room with Absolution LOL. If this wasn’t THAT read for me, I’m sure that the next one will be IT again!

First of all I have a confession, I don’t like high school books, there is said it! But this was so far from your typical high school romance book my mind was blown and my heart was addicted, after a few chapters I was a total goner.

Zepp was one of the guys everyone stayed clear of, well except all the spoiled little rich girls that wanted to have there shot at trying to tie him down. He did what he had to in order to survive the life dealt to him and god help anyone who stood in his way. The only people who he was close to was his brother and a few good friends he knew he could trust that was until she walked in, all red hair, long legs and an attitude that would make a sailor blush.

Monroe was scraping her way through life, her mums a druggie who’s boyfriend makes he steal cars, dads nowhere in sight and living in the towns trailer park her whole world revolves around getting out of town as soon as she finishes school. When one job goes wrong she find herself suddenly absorbed into Zepp Hunts world but slowly she starts to understand why he has such a attitude at school there both just trying to get by in life the only way they can.

A phenomenal read from my favourite duo, these ladies always turn out amazing books themselves but when the work together it’s like the book climbs a whole other level of awesomeness! I’m actually waiting with baited breath for more from the Hunt boy’s because surely you can’t leave us hanging!

This was my first book by both these authors, and I devoured it in two days. Which, doesn’t sound very fast, but believe me... it is for me!

No Prince had everything I love in an enemies to lovers story. A hot, dark, brooding arsehole. A sassy female lead who can old her own. An entire network of enemies waiting to destroy their connection. There wasn’t ever a moment of boredom throughout, and I found myself burning the midnight oil to see where these two characters went.

Anyone who knows me knows I’m a wild music fan, so the Led Zepp and Hendrix references caught my attention from the off. But Zepp’s name was the least attractive thing about him, believe it or not. This character was built from raw pain and other people’s past mistakes. With a younger brother to bring up, Zepp had had to become impenetrable to keep those few he loved, safe. And he had no desires for any other loves to join his gang.

Then Monroe comes alone, with her own troubles, her own mouth, and a whole lot of defiance that Zepp just can’t seem to control. And he controls EVERYTHING.

The chemistry between Zepp and Monroe has you leaning closer to your kindle, as though you’re there with them, hearing their whispers, soothing their pain, and holding their hands as they navigate this thing together.

At about 80% in, I didn’t know who or what was going to be the spanner in the works for them, but when it presented itself, I wanted to throw my kindle and cry.

Goddammit, Zepp! You just had to be that THAT guy, didn’t you? The kind of guy I can’t resist. The one who I couldn’t get out of my head until I’d turned the last page.

Cole & Lovell bring some very OG indie vibes to No Prince, and I loved every single second of it. I immediately want to head back to page one and gift myself with a reread. The only thing better than doing that again will be grabbing my paperback copy so I can hold that bad boy in my hands.

There’s nothing you’ll regret about reading this book, but be warned: it isn’t all fairy tale backgrounds and sprinklings of the lavish lifestyle. This is raw, filled with poverty, injustice, and a way of life most of us couldn’t survive. But among all that is the promise of hope... and that’s the kind of thing us readers cling to

Definite five stars from me.

Oh, and Hendrix? Damn, I hope he gets his own book. That boy made me laugh out loud on more than one occasion.

I find as my own brood approach the YA age; I tend to shy away from the genre, but this is an example of the type that still works. The adult-acting criminal teens being bad, but without a parent really in sight trope.

I found h (Monroe) very entertaining. I’m a sucker for virgin strippers, and loved that she took zero shit from Zepp & gang, or wannabe OW Leah… at least until she lost her brain, and acted like a complete dumb-ass, but we needed more drama-conflict. 😊
Zepp was well… No Prince… he’s a criminal, but not a complete asshat either. He’s not an angel, but not a total manwhore, and is pretty obsessed/dedicated to Monroe. They have a rocky start, and are quite unconventional, but they fit.

Bottom Line- I liked it. It’s not a heavy dark/gritty read, some of the conflict/antics are OTT, and I giggled a few times… so not super serious…there’s few plot holes…but still very entertaining. This couple got their HEA, so I’m guessing the future books will be the secondary character’s story’s. ** For the safety folks… some violence/bad behaviors/criminal activity. No cheating/celibate during separation. In past H hasn’t slept with wannabe OW, (I don’t think) but she’s given him a few BJ’s. ( before book starts)

Having read almost everything written by this amazing duo, I went into this book expecting darkness and depravity. Although this book is not at all dark, it was fabulous anyway! The characters are super gritty: the tale of a bad boy and a bad girl from the wrong side of town. Both live in Daytona where the majority of the children are neglected/abused, drug abuse is rampant and teenage girls have to work as strippers (or worse) to keep from being evicted from their trailers. All the books I’ve read about bad boys involved a good/rich girl, so I loved this innovative combination!! Plus, I very rarely laugh out loud, but found myself chuckling more than once while reading this book!!! The characters are just so real and several of them are extremely entertaining! Having watched Stevie do live videos on Facebook, I can practically hear her at times!!! I loved Zepp & Monroe!!!!

No Prince by L.P. Lovell & Stevie J. Cole is a dark read and quite different from what I normally read. The book looks at the characters Zepp and Monroe. Zepp is no king, rather he is the devil in the dark waiting to take you soul. Both are living in a small town, suffocating by its repressiveness and helpless in getting out. Basically, it is a town that once it has its claws in you, you’re never going to get out.
Zepp and Monroe’s relationship comes to a head when she steals a car that he and his boys are trying to take right from under his nose. From there, it starts an almost cat and mouse relationship of both of them trying to survive their small town but also each other.

Monroe is trying to get out of her small town and doing things she wouldn’t necessarily do or likes to do in order to do that. Under the thumb of her mother’s nasty boyfriend she is struggling to survive, even if it means that she ends up black and blue from doing so. In contrast, there isn’t anything Zepp won’t do for his brother, long putting his life in hold, he is just surviving by any means possible. When reading the book, you see how strong these two characters are, people who are put in a certain class because of where they live in town, they are seen as lesser and that is kind of highlighted throughout the book with various other characters. There are certainly battle lines drawn in the sand when it comes to this small town
.
The story takes a lot of twists and turns when Monroe ends up owing Zepp for him helping her. In a way it starts the development of their relationship from enemies into lovers and then into something more. Monroe and Zepp certainly have a lot of chemistry and it was hot reading about it, but there was more to this story than just sexy scenes.

There are a few moments which are heart-breaking for both characters and that is what keeps you turning the pages…you just need to know what happens to them and if they get a HEA. The authors makes you invested in this story and characters and you’re rooting for them most of the way.

Grabbing his face, I slammed my lips over his. “I don’t deserve you,” I breathed against his mouth.
His fingers swept my cheek. “You deserve better.”
“There is no one better.”

aahh, I loved this book!! I’m a sucker for bad boys who has layers, and Zepp was no exception. As for Monroe, I loved that girl. She didn’t take no shit, but also had her vulnerable side and I personally thought it’s what made her human and relatable. They both had their fuck up moments, and there were some “I’m doing this cause you deserve better” moments - which I was kinda annoyed by cause it’s the person’s choice to decide if the person they’re with is good enough for them, isn’t it? But, at the end of the day, I had no doubt these two were perfect for each other. They just had that spark and chemistry I love reading about within couples! 💓

Buut, I wish Zepp did more grovelling cause, after all, he did try to push Monroe away cause he thought she “deserved better” but, around the time he chose to get her back, there was a time skip where they didn’t communicate at all and it would have been nice to see him put more effort? Like I could feel his love for her but, at the same time, he’s the one who pushed her away in the first place. :/ But I couldn’t give this less than 5 stars cause it made me feel so many emotions throughout the whole book. 🥺💗

Pls, I’m hoping we’ll also get books for Hendrix, Wolf (and possibly Jade as the heroine cause ngl, I’m not a huge fan of pregnancy story lines but that false alarm of Jade’s pregnancy with Wolf had me intrigued af and the angst that could have gone in omg too bad it was a false alarm but I’d love to see those two!), and Bellamy! <3 I wouldn’t even mind reading stories about the ones from the “rich” side as well tbh. 👀 Rich or poor, there’s always a story to tell from either sides so I’m curious about the guys on that side (even if they were perceived as assholes in this book but, then again, it would have probably been a similar perspective if the book was from the rich side’s POV).
