Do you yearn for a consistent prayer life? Do you struggle with distraction when praying alone, timidity when praying with others, or knowing where to start in either setting? Bestselling writer and beloved speaker Chrystal Evans Hurst knows both the freedom and blessing of establishing and growing a lively prayer life and how difficult it can be when prayer itself feels foreign to our daily lives. In it, This study includes daily prayer practices, space to journal about your prayers and what you're hearing from God, as well as weekly challenges to keep you and your group active and attentive in renewed prayer. The Bible tells us that prayer is essential for an intimate and thriving relationship with God, and it's well worth the time and effort it deserves. Sessions Designed for use with The 28-Day Prayer Journey Video Study available on DVD or streaming video, sold separately.
Good book, now working on the companion Bible Study. Very good tool to create a habit of praying every day, several times a day and covering all your brothers, sisters in Christ , your family and your entire community.
Crystal Evans Hurst is new to me, and I enjoyed her study series on prayer. She has a calming and steady countenance and has great ideas for improving prayer life. I think the accompanying book that has prayers would be nice to read through also.
I especially liked the last week where she talks about how her husband bought her flowers even though she preferred dark chocolate almonds (I am the same way. I also like flowers, but I am good with a $10 grocery store arrangement now and then). She compares this to how we approach God, with what we want to bring to Him and not necessarily what He would like. It was a great illustration that I think I will remember and consider in my own prayer life.
I thought this book would have been better to help “enjoy deeper conversations with God”. I was deeply dissatisfied with the book. The first video was free to follow along; the others you had to subscribe and pay to view. I was not interested in purchasing anything for this “journey”.
The entire book was not a total waste. I did get a few things out and it did reinforce my Catholic faith; but it left me wanting more and did not deepen any conversation with God that I have not already have.
It was not clear to me at the beginning that this Study Guide was best used as the predecessor to the book. But now I am able to continue to grow in my prayer life by expanding from 28 days to 56. Prayer is such a vital part of our Christian walk. It should be such an integral part of me that I can't function without it.
