An Amish Christmas Wedding: Four Stories

Rate this book
From bestselling authors of Amish fiction come four delightful stories perfect for celebrating love, joy, and the everyday miracles Christmas brings.

Evergreen Love by Amy Clipston

Ryan Lapp had promised to marry Lorene Bontrager as soon as he was able to build them a house, but the day never came. Ryan moved away. Five years later, Lorene has settled in to her old maid role, and she’s shocked when her younger sister announces her quick engagement to Ryan’s younger brother. As they rush to plan the wedding, Lorene is constantly around the family she almost joined. Worse, she’s forced to face Ryan himself, who has returned to town. As both Ryan and Lorene examine their own feelings, they must decide if they can find grace with each other—and the young people they once were—this Christmas season. There just might still be love in their future.

Holiday of Hope by Kelly Irvin

Henry Lufkin is one of four bachelors who lived in the West Kootenai, Montana, cabins that were destroyed by wildfires. He’s the only one of them who hasn’t since married, but he likes his solitude. Then an old friend asks him to care for his son, and Henry has to share his small cabin and his life with bewildered and rebellious ten-year-old Tommy. When the child encounters trouble at school, Henry reaches out to Tommy's teacher. Leesa Yoder never expected to find herself single and teaching sixteen young scholars, and she certainly didn’t anticipate an inexperienced bachelor telling her how to do her job. Amid the flying sparks, can Henry and Leesa see that there might be hope and love in this unexpected situation?

Wreathed in Joy by Kathleen Fuller

Mary Wengerd and Jakob Mullet have been best friends since childhood. Pressured by friends and family, they decided to date—with disastrous results. When they break up, their friendship is ruined. A year later, Mary is baking her Englisch friend’s wedding and groom cakes for a Christmas Eve wedding. Mary loves the Christmas season, and had always dreamed of marrying during that time. Now she wonders if she’ll ever marry. After she and Jakob form a tenuous new friendship, Mary breaks her arm. As he steps in to help her with the cakes, Mary is inexplicably and suddenly falling for him. But they've already dated, and that ended so horribly. Could it be better this time?

A Christmas Prayer
 by Vannetta Chapman

Widower Micah Miller runs the Amish Tour Company, offering Englischers a glimpse of a simpler life as well as tea at Rachel King’s. Rachel has never married and has recently lost her parents. When Micah comes across an abandoned and injured dog, he gives it to Rachel for company. As Rachel is charmed by the dog and shocked by news of the existence of family she never expected, her heart and mind bend toward the possibilities of change in her life—even toward the possibility of love.

This is an Amish Christmas book. This book has four short stories in it. My favorite of the four short stories was Holiday of Hope by Kelly Irvin. I enjoyed each story, but I wished they where longer, but they are short stories. The stories do not have anything to do with each other, but they all are well-written. I normally do not like short stories, but I really liked these short stories. I was kindly provided an e-copy of this book by the publisher (Zondervan) or author (Amy Clipston, Kathleen Fuller, Kelly Irvin, and Vannetta Chapman) via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review about how I feel about this book, and I want to send a big Thank you to them for that.

These four novellas are sure to get you in the mood for the holidays.
I will warn you up front a few are really good and you are going to be a little bit upset that they are so short, that you are left wanting more.
My absolute favorite one was Holiday Of Hope by Kelly Irvin and let me tell you about Evergreen Love by Amy Clipston you are going to want to scream they are not long enough at all.
I gave this book of four novellas 4 stars and I will happily share it with others this holiday season. You be sure to grab your copy.

There is something extra special about Christmas books and that this one has four novella length Amish stories by my favorite authors is a bonus.
I'll admit to reading Christmas books not just at Christmas time but all year for that warm fuzzy feeling they bring me. They are a warm hug with a cup of hot cocoa kind of book that I can't get enough of.
An Amish Christmas Wedding is such a fun and clean romance story, a fast read for me.

The stories in this collection are so sweet. I love the book cover.

I have read books by three out of the four authors. I am so honoured to read a story by Vannetta Chapman.

The food in this book made me hungry.
I wanted to live in an Amish community so I can eat along with them. Isn’t it funny when your imagination goes wild while reading a book?

What do you say to a wedding set around Christmas?

Christmas is my favourite season in a year apart from birthdays. Reading this novel made me realise that we are few months close to Christmas!

Whenever I pick up an Amish Christian Fiction novel, I am sure of an adventure to the lives and minds of the characters in the plot. Only a good book does that to you.

A collection of Christmas novellas by four well know authors captured this reader and left her with the holiday spirit . Each novella either ended with a Christmas Wedding or proposal. I'm not usually much for short stories but An Amish Christmas Wedding proved I had the wrong attitude and changed my mind about them. I loved the eye catching cover and I found that I had a good reading experience with this book.

Evergreen Love by Amy Clipston
A young Amish man and woman gets a second chance at love when another couple ( a sibling from each of their families) becomes engaged to marry and plans a Christmas Wedding. Plans for the younger couple includes the estranged man and woman and draws them together whether they want to be or not. They can't help but to once again find the attraction they once shared for each other. Only time will tell them if reconciliation is God's will for them.

Holiday of Hope by Kelly Irvin
A widower, an orphan and a reluctant school teacher, each with their own hurts and heartache from the past find happiness together when they finally learn to let go and trust God and each other. Will the Christmas season bring happiness and the promise of a brighter future for all of them?

Wreathed In Joy by Kathleen Fuller
Mary Wengerd and Jakob Mullet had been best friends through out their school years. They tried dating each other but after five months broke up only to see their friendship become a thing of the past. Fate brings them back together once more a year later and they both discover they have romantic feelings about each other. When it didn't work for them the first time they both are hesitant to start dating again for fear that it wouldn't work this time either. Why then are they drawn to one another and constantly want to be together. Is it possible it could only be because of the Christmas holiday or is this God's will working on both of them?

A Christmas Prayer by Vannetta Chapman
This Christmas novella is about an older Amish man and woman and a white Lab dog. The couple become friends when Micah Miller starts a business and Rachel wants to be part of it. Rachel is fifty eight and never been married. Micah is sixty , a widower who lives with his family. Rachel lives a lonely life and Micah feels ready to go on with his life after being a widower for ten years. Sometimes Rachel feels like a school girl when she's around Micah but at other times she's confused about her feelings for him. The two are good friends but could there possibly be a future for this older couple? Could God have plans for more than friendship for Micah and Rachel? Where does the lab fit into all of this? He plays an important part in this Christmassy story. You won't want miss this novella!
This collection of Christmas novellas is for readers of Amish Fiction . Also readers of Christian Fiction and clean read will be comfortable reading this book. I highly recommend it and gave it five Stars.

I am growing fond of the compilation books especially Christian Fiction about love at Christmas. Out of all of the stories featured in an Amish Christmas Wedding, my favorite had to be Evergreen Love by Amy Clipston. Reading this story and the forgotten love between Ryan and Lorene reminded me a lot of Jane Austen's Persuasion with the stories being very similar. When Lorene's younger sister is engaged to Ryan's brother, Lorene spends so much time with the family that she forgets why she and Ryan were together in the first place especially unexpectedly when Ryan returns home for the wedding and finds Lorene. If this story tells you anything, its that re-connection is so powerful that it makes you realize what you missed about each other and that time a part might be just what you need to build a strong founding relationship.

We will consider adding this book to our Christian Fiction collection at our library. That is why we give this book 5 stars.

Four short stories that will have you quickly turning the pages, you can read one, but they are that good that you will be moving on to the next one.
The stories are not connected, they contain good life lessons, the first one we had a young man who seems like he can't really commit, but keep reading maybe this couple or former couple needs to talk.
The second, this young boy has been through so much, more than anyone should, especially a child. He did make me chuckle with some of his antics, but I felt he was crying for help! Can this ten-year old ever find a real home?
Can best friends find their way to love, Kathleen Fuller gives us a couple who have been childhood friends, and then took it a step further with disastrous results. Can they become friends again, or more?
Finding friends and family, and is it possible love? That is what the last story in the book by Vannetta Chapman offers us, as a widower and older single Amish couple try to find their way to a relationship. A sweet read, with feeling of loss and held together with the love of an older dog.
You don't want to miss this one, and like M & M's you won't be able to stop after just one!

I received this book through Net Galley and the Publisher Zondervan, and was not required to give a positive review.

An Amish Christmas Wedding contains four delightful and heartwarming Amish stories from Amy Clipston, Kathleen Fuller, Kelly Irvin, and Vannetta Chapman. I found all of them to be well-written with steady pacing and charming characters. There are lovely themes in each book. Love, hope, grace, faith, and second chances are just a few of them. I enjoyed reading about the Amish Christmas traditions where they focus more on God and family than on material things. Of course, I just loved the Christmas weddings. It is a magical time of year to get married. I enjoyed all four stories, but I admit that my favorite was A Christmas Prayer by Vannetta Chapman. I liked the older main characters and that sweet dog. An Amish Christmas Wedding is a lovely way to spend an afternoon. It got my mind off stressful situations. It provided me with peace and the hope that love might find me yet. We need more clean, wholesome stories like these. An Amish Christmas Wedding has put me in the mood for Christmas (I have been humming Christmas carols all day). An Amish Christmas Wedding contains four sweet Amish stories from four talented female writers.

Wonderful stories of hope and inspiration! I think the last story was my favorite, though. Such a simple and precious love between Micah and Rachel. Refreshing to read a story about love between a couple in their late 50's early 60's. A wonderful reminder that God has a plan for our life, no matter what age we are.

I love novella collections, especially holiday-themed ones, so I was excited to read this book. I have read many books by all of these authors in the past. They're some of my favorites when it comes to Amish fiction.

As is true with all novellas, these stories were quick reads, which made it easy to fit them into a busy schedule. Realistic characters and scenarios about with each story.

The stories aren't connected, other than the Amish theme. Friends, family, and love are key themes in each one. I liked the diversity of ages featured in the different novellas.

This is an enjoyable book of sweet romances to help you get in the holiday mood.

Four charming Christmas stories in one collection. What more could a reader ask for!?
All four authors have written stories that, while they don’t play off each other, all of them have a thread of faith and family. From young couples, to an older couple, all find love and second chances at Christmas.

I thoroughly enjoyed the sweetness of each story, with well developed characters who grow when they allow God to work in their lives. If you enjoy Amish stories I highly recommend this collection.

A wonderful Christmas novella written by 4 well known authors of Amish fiction. Each story has a different theme. Amy Clipston gives us Evergreen Love. A story dealing with misunderstanding. Kelly Irvin shares A Holiday of Hope. Her focus is on life's challenges. Kathleen Fuller's Wreathed In Love deals with friendship vs love, and finally Vannetta Chapman's A Christmas Prayer explores loneliness with older adults who are young at heart.
A great grouping of authors and one incredibly fabulous book filled with Christmas spirit. Perfect for holiday gift giving!

I've found myself wanting to read Amish fiction more and more during the crazy times we're currently living in, as there's just something so calming and peaceful about reading books set in the Amish culture. I knew when I saw the description of this one that it was probably going to be something I was going to end up enjoying, and I was definitely proven right.

I appreciated how each of the novellas were about Christmas, finding love and the importance of faith no matter what, but that each is written completely different from the others, and it was honestly hard to pick a favorite. This collection includes first love, second chance love, a child who has lost his parents needing to find love and security, and a beautiful showcase of how friendship can often turn into something more. Each story had me honestly tearing up and I think any of these four could have been full length novels and still have kept the reader engaged from start to finish.

I was also excited to get to read another story by Amy Clipston, Kathleen Fuller and Kelly Irvin, and I loved my first experience with a story by Vannetta Chapman. If you're looking for a heartwarming Christmas collection to enjoy this holiday season then look no further than this beautiful collection by a group of extremely talented ladies. This is exactly what I was hoping for when I first picked it up to read it, and I can't wait to read more stories from this group of authors in the future.

Final Rating: 4/5.

Thanks so much to Zondervan for allowing me to advance read this!

This is a decent set of short stories from major writers of Amish romance. The first story asks the question -- what do you do when your sister announces her engagement to your ex-fiance's brother?

These are good stories for fans of the genre or anyone else looking for a gentle read with a happy ending.

This is a collection of 4 short stories about Amish couples around Christmas time. One is about a Ryan and Lorene that had planned to get married but never did. Now her younger sister is marrying his brother and they are attending all sorts of family get-togethers prior to the wedding. Both are still attracted to each other but wonder if they can forget the past and go forward. The next is about Henry who ends up being the guardian of a young boy whose father was a good friend of Henry’s. The little boy is having a hard time adjusting and Henry is relying on the boy’s teacher Leesa to help him figure it all out. The next story is about Mary and Jakob who have been best friends since childhood but when family and friends pushed them into courting they both felt awkward about the relationship and broke it off. Now they are both attracted to each other but wonder if there is anyway to renew their relationship. And the last story is about two older folks, Micah who was a widower living with his children and grandchildren runs the Amish Tour Company just to get himself out of the house. He partners with Rachel King, an old maid whose parents have died and left her alone. She offers tea to his tour clients in her home.
I enjoyed all these stories and it was great having a short story I could read in one evening and then another the next evening until I had read them all.

I have voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from NetGalley. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.

An Amish Christmas Wedding is a collection of four easy-to-read, heartwarming, inspiring stories written by four talented authors. These stories showcase four Amish couples—Lorene and Ryan, Leesa and Henry, Mary and Jakob, Rachel and Micah—who find or rekindle love at Christmas time. The well-crafted, relatable (even if you’re not Amish) characters face struggles including broken hearts, secrets, grief, doubts, age, and loneliness on their way to finding second chances and sweet romance. As you would expect, the faith element is strong in each story with emphasis on finding and accepting God’s purpose and plan.
I enjoyed all the stories, but my favorite is Kelly Irvin’s A Holiday of Hope. It is “the story of a widower, an orphan, and a reluctant teacher” who must each come to grips with issues in their own lives which compromise their relationship.
I highly recommend this book especially for lovers of Amish fiction and anthologies.

What a sweet collection of second chance at love and love later in life! It's always wonderful when I enjoy each story, and just can't stop reading. I was impressed by the vivid personalities, romantic chemistry, individual plots, and cozy Christmastime setting. The two that stood out to me are Holiday of Hope by Kelly Irvin and Wreathed in Joy by Kathleen Fuller. I admire when characters can make the best of a difficult situation and recognize the blessings that come because of their efforts.

This is a delightful grouping of Christmas novellas by famous Amish writers, Amy Clipston, Kelly Irvin, Kathleen Fuller and Vannetta Chapman.

Each story shows the magical feeling that the Christmas season brings. Former loves reunited, a child needing a parent and those who try to help him overcoming their own loss and grief, senior adults facing the loneliness of being without a partner, and best friends who have parted ways all lend to gripping stories of find loves lost and new love.
I enjoyed reading each of these stories and highly recommend this book.

This is a set of four short stories about Amish love and romance set around the Christmas season. I have read numerous books by all of these authors and they are all some of my favorites. Even though all of the stories were great and the characters well developed, the first story, Evergreen Love, was probably my favorite of the four. Amy Clipston is one of my favorite authors who always creates characters who the reader can honestly relate to.

As both Ryan and Lorene examine their own feelings,
they must decide if they can find grace with each other—and the young people they once were—this Christmas season.

I cannot pick which story I liked best, they were all so good. They all had a common theme, but each so different.
