I’m all for girl power and sh*t.
Guys are a disaster.
Trust me. I know.
My name is Josephine Poet. I’m the drummer in an all-girl band.
My rule is f*ck a guy only once, then move onto the next one.
The Rock F*ck Club reality show is no different than my real life. Only there are cameras rolling, and they’re offering me a ton of cash. The money and the publicity is just what Joey’s Band needs. A means to an end for a bad girl who knows how to rock, but isn’t looking for anything good.
But what happens when wrong and right collide?
It’s naughty versus nice in Rock F*ck Club Season Three.
What could go wrong?

ARC generously provided for a honest review...….

I will admit that I was a bit concerned this being the fifth book and all, that maybe this storyline wouldn’t be able to keep my interest, BUT I was completely wrong.

This book has all the feels!!! Gale & Jo’s story is my favorite so far. I will say this book was profoundly sad in parts.

You still get the feeling of the women empowerment that the other books in this series give you but the sorrow this will provoke is real!

This book was probably more hot than any of the others so far, at least for me. We got really risque and definitely much different experiences before. You see Jo is in a girl band. And Jo and the girls are into guys, but also at times a little into girls. And it works out for the best because then Jo is able to fulfill her own RFC requirements with some help from her friends in different ways. Although I still keep counting on my fingers and seem to only find 9 people not 10. Hmm. Maybe a re-read will be needed? Which is fine, the steamy scenes in this were as steamy as can be! I feel like in this one, we really got the main character taking charge of her sex life. With no regrets, other than maybe one of the times, and well that had more to do with her past than the actual experience. Jo had a pretty intense past. And the more I learned about her life, the more I was able to understand her love of the book Wuthering Heights, which I can't stand, but I guess I can get why someone with a hard life might identify or enjoy it more than I did. And then there is Gale. I adore him, and he was perfect for Jo. Even with the one secret she kept that caused him to have to take a step back and think on his own past, they really were a match made in heaven. The author doesn't keep us from losing characters that we know and like, once again there is a loss in this book. A kind of big one. Now, I don't know if there will be more books in this series, but if there are, I started making a list as I read about who I think should get to star next on the reality tv show Rock F*ck Club!

***5 Stars***

I’m emotionally drained.

Not that it comes as a surprise. All of the books in the RFC series have been emotionally trying in one way or another. Nor is it a bad thing because all it means is that I was invested ~ even if it was at the detriment to my sanity ~ and boy was I ever invested.

Josephine and her Man did me in. I loved and adored them, but they did a number on my heart. The guilt, grief and fear that rolled off of them was almost suffocating at times, but they both found ways to keep going. Not all were the best of ways, but they did end up finding each other and I loved how they just flowed when they were just Josephine and ‘him’. They put each other through a lot, but from the moment I saw them collide in RFC #4, I knew they were it for each other.

I was told by the author to ‘hold on to my lei’ before diving in, not that I needed to be told considering how crazy RFC #3 left me, but a reminder is always welcome when heading into this world. It’s raw, dark, smexy, heartbreaking and yet makes my heart swoon even when I’m growling at the characters and the choices that they end up making. But it’s real. So if you like rockstar romances with a whole bunch of angst and a lot of heart then this one is definitely for you!.

Note: You can read this as a stand-alone BUT I do recommend starting at the beginning to get the full impact of all that has happened up to this point because each book does impact the others.

*I received a free copy of Rock F*ck Club #5. This has in no way influenced my voluntary review which is honest and unbiased.*

Oh my! This fifth book is my favorite in the series, hands down! Josephine had a complicated past, but she was a warrior, and a person who truly took great care of the people she loved. This whole series is made of strong women, who want to show the world that girl power is real.

Mankin included some very dark subjects in Jo's story, though, which could definitely trigger some readers. However, the way she dealt with these subjects was so very well done, and it brought so much depth to Jo's character. It made me love her more. And it also made me respect her more.

Book #5 in this series took a turn I wasn’t expecting...and I LOVED it!

While the previous RFC stars each had their own agenda by signing on, Jo’s participation started out as just a way to earn money and gain some publicity for her fledgling girl band. What she got out of it was way more than she bargained for.

Josephine’s Story was filled with loss, sorrow, guilt and regret but ended on a high note of love, healing and acceptance.

With the love and support of a man that understood her on a level no one else could, she found her place. In the world as a whole as well as her position in the band and the music world.

This series is amazing! I’ve read and loved every single book, and each one is hotter than the last. Josephine and Gale are electric together!! Nobody writes rock star romance like Michelle. Her men are hot, her women are strong. A fabulous new addition to an incredible, unique story. Can’t recommend this series highly enough. I want more!

Wow and omg! This storyline was amazing and I’m in love with Gale! Josephine and Gale are kindred spirits with their similar tragedies. Gale fell for Jo immediately but she fought it tooth and nail ... until she didn’t! There was so much sadness, their individual tragedies and then their shared one at the end of the book. But the loving in the desert under the stars? OMG! I was right their with them, so absorbed in their love.

By far my favorite story! And did I mention Gale is Canadian??!! Hooray!

RFC #5 is amazing. Michelle Mankin has clearly set the bar high with this incredibly touching book. This time around we have the tough as nails Josephine Poet as the newest 'contestant' for the RFC, as season 3 is ready to roll. And like her predecessors before her, things get a bit complicated as her heart may just be taken before filming her first conquest even gets started. The man who might just be the balm she has sought for her broken soul, just may be the one who may heal his own at the same time.

Gale and Jo. These two are fractured in both mind and spirit. Each having survivors guilt for lost loved ones who are always at the forefront of their thoughts. But Mankin beautifully puts Gale and Jo together and not just as potential lovers. No, they are each other's sounding boards and the way they effortlessly talk to one another and share their hurt was truly the core of this story. Sure, there are obstacles with RFC and the contract Jo signed, she having to bed 10 rockers. But the way her journey is intricately woven with Gale's urgency to finally break free of his grief was perfectly executed.

I really love Jo and the way she has this no nonsense persona. Yet, she is fully aware of the people around her. Her fellow members of Joey's Band. Omgoodness, I adored them all. With Dolly as the woman who would love her from afar and would have her back no matter what. And the twins always making Jo shake her head at their sexual prowess yet knowing they are two of the best friends she could ever wish to have. The girl power in this book is fierce and is central to not only Jo but her band-mates as well and the support shown by all is unbelievably wonderful.

In addition, since this is Rock F*ck Club, the trysts that Jo puts together are some of the hottest Mankin has written for this series. Let's just say Jo gets very creative and what transpires is wildly erotic. With her last 'session' really tender as well. Showing the world she is her own boss and will love and share her body the way she wants to. The woman sets her own pace and everyone around her takes notice and respects her for it.

Despite deep-held secrets, times of crisis and the threat of losing it all, Josephine Poet is a survivor and is one helluva rock chick. She turns RFC on its ear and I loved every minute.

For the truly unique in the world of indie books, Michelle Mankin has created some of her best work to date and I loved being along for the ride.

Rock F*ck Club #5 is well worth your time and I happily give it a big 5 stars!

"You're not the type of woman a guy can ignore.
...What type of woman am I?
The type of woman who draws your attention across a crowded auditorium. The type who makes you feel things you wondered if you would ever be able to feel again. The one with mysteries that you want to unravel."

I have read and loved everything I've read by Michelle Mankin! Knowing that Michelle is a talented author still left me surprised with Rock F*ck Club #5's raw emotions, unique characters, and sexy sui generis story! The story is crisp and offers readers a beautiful level of declamatory. The storyline took on a completely different tone form what I must admit I expected but I refuse to spoil the book so I will say no more! Gale was an entirely new brand of rockstar for readers to consume. He was intense and a bookworm, sexy and incredibly intuned to the random woman he meets at an AA meeting. But that woman, Josephine, is badly broken, believes herself broken beyond repair. What could she possibly offer the extra special man who seems to know her better then she knows herself. Jo takes the RFC by storm and readers are treated to enticingly exaggerated hookups that will leave you hot under the collar! As the story unfolds, readers will get a firsthand accounting of why Jo is so greatly damaged and why this might be my favorite RFC!!! Get your hands on this single POV romance that's equally angsty, seXXXy and sweet. You won't be disappointed!!

Quote:
"It was a stark difference between us. A significant one. He sought to protect his life after his losses. I didn't see the point in protecting mine."

"You look like an oasis to a man in the desert who never expected to see anything buy more sand."

"I KNEW ABOUT DREAMS and wishes.
The came with a price and that price was usually paid for after the magic wore off at midnight."

"Be brave, babe. We both know the pit. What it's like in the dark place. how you fall into it as one person and then crawl out as another. If you come out."

WOW - I can't get over this one - this was by far the best in the series to date - I thought that 4 kept me on the edge of my seat, but damn this one knocked me right the F*CK OFF!! Multiple times in fact. The emotions that are drawn out of you from this book, man, I can't even say roller coaster because that would be too tame. Losing your breath crying!!

Jo and Gale both have gone through something so awful - it crushed both of them. They both have been struggling for quite a while to find their way out of the darkness from losing loved ones. Jo has also has other things she has had to try and recover from as well and all of these combined are what make her feel she is not worthy of anything especially love. She will not allow her self to get close to anyone - it even took a a while to get close to her best friends. But when Gale sees her in the crowded auditorium at an AA meeting he is completely drawn to her, zeroing in right on her.

From this point Gale makes it very hard for Jo to not see him, to not know he is there for her. They are both completely drawn to each. You could feel their connection jump off the pages. Jo tries so hard to keep her distance but she still finds herself wanting to be around him
The road they travel to finally come together is heartbreakingly beautiful with all of its ups and downs. It will leave you with so many emotions rolling around. This installment was so wonderfully done in all aspects!!

This book has it all! Secrets, half truths, trauma, guilt, angst, heartache, a great storyline that keeps you turning the pages, fantastic characters, a chemistry that the hero and heroine have that leaps off the page; where you can feel the sexual tension between them and you can't wait to see if anything will come of it. RFC was raw, edgy, and unpredictable... unique and emotional. I absolutely loved the RFC series, but now, my problem is I need more.

I volunteered to review an advance reader copy of this book.

Jo is a tough as nails woman and the next girl power for the third season of Rock F*ck Club. Problem is she's met Gale and he is able to capture not only her heart but relate to her like nobody else. Oh boy! here we go with the ten rock stars Jo is contracted to be with for the season. Gale is dealing with the loss of a loved one just like Jo. I have loved reading this series.

Oh my heart

From the start of this amazing book, you know there is so much you want to know about Gale and Jo, but you also feel every emotion as they unveil their journey. The tragedies they both have endured are slowly revealed, but not before you become so fully invested in their story you swoon, then weep, then celebrate, and then weep again. Definitely a story you won’t forget soon, and something that keeps your heart tender from all the emotions.

Gah! Jo and Gale! Until I read about Dolly and her man, Jo and Gale have my heart. What a story! Emotional rollercoaster, party of 1. Yes, it's about rockers but rockers have feelings and emotions and boy, there is a loop thrown in just for good measure. My favorite book of the series! It just keeps getting better and better.

Jo. Boy has she been through it. She is a bad*ss rocker that has no time for romance and feelings. She has hard edges that are difficult to get past. Gale is up for it. Their past traumas putting them in each other's path. He is no quitter. And she will not be controlled. The rollercoaster was well worth it. These two are explosive. Great book. You will cry. You will cheer for them the whole way.

Mankin’s Newest Hit

I’ve been waiting for book 5 as soon as I finished 4! Good thing the author doesn’t hesitate to long between books! This continuation of rocker rankings is Josephine’s story. When she finds Gale, they create a mutual friendship that leads to more but the RFC always ends up getting in the way. This story runs the gamut of emotions but the reader will be satisfied when it’s over.

Excitement and Drama

Ok who wants drama as long as it's not my own I do. Josephine is the next RFC so if you want a party of two line them up or perhaps a party of three then get your beautiful self racing this next book. You won't be disappointed and I just can't say anymore without giving it away because I talk a lot and a May give to much away.

Holy WOW!! MMankin outdid herself with this one. I was so very eager for Gale's story and I'm ecstatic I got it. Before this one, I would have said #3 was my fav. But now I'm all about Gale and Jo!!

*******
Holy WOW! I don't even know where to start with Rock F*ck Club #5. I was so very eager for Gale's story and I'm ecstatic I got it. Before this one, I would have said #3 was my fav. But now I'm all about Gale and Jo!!

Let's start with Jo. MMankin kept her mysterious. We knew and/or learned enough about her to understand she was fiercely loyal to those she loves. We also knew she was a fighter, a survivor, and a resilient young woman. But there was that something she wouldn't share. I adored her anyway!

Gale. Sigh. That reminds me - Gale LeSigh. LOL So we know he's been through some heavy stuff. Losing his wife and baby - I can't fathom. That's why I knew it meant something profound when he sought out Jo. Gale is one hot rocker for sure but he's also intelligent, compassionate, and his loyalty to those he loves rivals Jo's. I was swooning right along with Jo as he fought to win her trust and her heart.

The banter between these two was witty snark. I adored their back-and-forth. They both write music and lyrics for their bands and both sing. You know that in my opinion lyrics are everything. So to have these two pouring their souls into songs and then discussing English literature? They're my dream couple.

Gale and Jo have some shared experiences in common. Jo's always handled things by keeping people out. Gale wormed his way into her head and under her skin with his patience and compassion. I liked that they could support each other in such important ways. And I applaud MMankin's ability to evoke all the emotions they felt through her beautiful prose.

RFC has taken a backseat in my review so far. I admired Jo's reasoning for agreeing to do this show. But maybe she was a bit naive going in? I say that mostly because she thought she could keep emotion out of the equation and sex doesn't work that way, in my opinion. I liked the angle she took though in fulfilling her contract. Her second hookup was off the charts hot! And her final one was so perfect. I admire how MMankin goes about making sure these girls meet their obligations but stay true to themselves and the RFC mantra - their body, their choice.

I have to point out one more time how much I appreciated the English literature references. Even Jo's bandmates had changed their last names with nods to great literature. Wuthering Heights isn't my favorite - too dreary ;) - but it's high on the list. Kudos to MMankin for those details.

There's so much I loved about Gale and Jo's story, I could honestly wax poetic for a long while. I feel like MMankin outdid herself with Rock F*ck Club #5. The characters are all engaging, the romance so poignant, and the shocking events...it was all a visceral experience. And I can't wait to see what happens in the next season.
