Mixing the pot of magic and realism, Ila Golden is an author of mature young adult fantasy, with a focus on personal relationships and identity exploration. They started creating their unique stories as a child, telling them to their younger brother on long car journeys. As they grew up and matured into a young adult, writing also became an outlet for them to explore their own burgeoning sense of identity, although it would take until their early 30s for them to have the strength and confidence needed to fully realise the unique individual they were always meant to become.
In their spare time Ila enjoys watching a variety of shows and playing video games with their partner, along with taking care of their elderly gerbil Zel-Bell.

I loved this book! Echoe is a charming, suspenseful mystery unlike anything I have ever read. It is a great read for anyone whether or not you are a fan of fantasy. The fantasy setting adds interest, but above all, this is a compelling story about human nature, prejudice, and abuse of power.
Who knew fairies could be disabled? Is Golden brings us a mystery with just such a lead character. This mystery will hold you spell bound as you try to solve it. With an intriguing plot line and many possible characters responsible, you will hurry to get to the end to find out, who done it.
I enjoyed this story very much. The characters were very believable and well crafted. The story was quite original and as it developed further the mystery of what was happening made the ESP of the characters seem quite natural. I concentrated more and more on trying to figure out what was going on. The way things were progressing I was drawn into it more and more. I am happy to say that the climactic ending tied all the loose ends together beautifully. The story deserves five stars, but sadly, the grammar and spelling were somewhat clunky. I happen to suffer from the same problem. I usually go through two and sometimes three edits of my own stories before publishing and yet, I always find more things that I should have caught previously. For that reason, I have to take away one star. Still, on the overall, it was a good, enjoyable read. Ernest Samuel Llime
I found Ila Goldens novel Echoe, refreshing. With an incredibly thought out background and complex group of characters. The idea of a fantasy written in such a believably humanoid way was particularly interesting. I enjoyed reading a strong protagonist who forged ahead in life, unhindered by her disability. It has a good strong mystery to keep you guessing and I enjoyed the appearance and concept of Mika. I commend Ila on comprehensively and beautifully sharing her wonderful imagination and look forward to reading more by this Author.
I recently dove into "Echoe" by Ila Golden, and I have to say, it’s a breath of fresh air in the fantasy genre. The story centers around Echoe Sweetcharm, a Neeth Nymph with a passion for acting. Echoe’s resilience shines through as she navigates her journey and finds her footing, despite a healthy dose of fantasy chaos along the way.
The tension in the story builds beautifully, keeping readers on the edge of their seats, trying to unravel who might be behind these mishaps. Golden crafts a cast of believable characters, each adding depth to the unfolding mystery, and I found myself guessing until the very end.
While the storyline and character development were engaging, I did notice some clunky sections that detracted from the overall reading experience, but it wasn't enough to pull me out of the story. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a unique spin on fantasy. It’s a delightful read that promises to leave you enchanted!
So you're probably wondering if Echoe is the right book for you, right? But there are no reviews to help guide you, and a note from the author is obviously going to be a little bias. But that's okay, of course it's going to be, I want to try and encourage you to read it. So why let me tell you a little more about Echoe to help you decide.
Echoe is a young adult mystery, set in an urban fantasy. The main character, Echoe, is a single mum of two, with telekinetic powers. She lives in a world inhabited by fairy tale creatures, and is herself a type of nymph. She is also disabled, and having spent her childhood experiencing painful treatments to try and 'cure' her, she decided she would rather be disabled and happy. Something her grandfather was less than happy about, making it difficult for her to pursue a career in her chosen industry right up until the time of his death.
But Echoe has a dream of being an actor. And she couldn't be happier with landing herself a role in her favourite musical of all time. Unfortunately from the moment she auditions things start going wrong. At first its just little, seemingly unconnected things. But as they start to mount up it's not too hard for Echoe to start wondering if someone is out to get her. The only question is, who?
As a writer I'm character focused, allow them to lead the plot of the story forward, and, even with its mystery elements, Echoe is no different. I want readers to care about Echoe's journey, to watch her grow as a character and care about what happens to her as things start to heat up. The mystery elements lead the plot perfectly towards its climax, with one or two surprises thrown in along the way.
This is the perfect mystery book for people who normally enjoy a good fantasy.
