2.5 ⭐️
This was a hyped up release for this specific trope and since I’m a sucker for surprise baby scenarios and I’ve probably read more than 100 at this point I was obviously eager to read it.
Whoever said that this was one of the best books that contains this trope was either selling it too eagerly or has very different standard for quality than I do.
In my humble opinion, a good/great book has to bring something new and fresh to an overused formula in order to make it not only stand out but to make it worth someone’s time and money (it’s on KU so I didn’t lose £££ but still some other people might).
This did not make me feel anything except irritated at the male lead. I’m gonna overlook the fact that I couldn’t have cared less for either one of the leads and that the romance was lackluster but I will not overlook the immense amount of annoyance brought on by the same stupid, overused and badly developed in this case, might I add, trope of the tortured hero whose past made him unemotional.
The whole thing was ridiculous and at the end it was so laughable how he just realised that he CAN indeed love..
Listen, I’ve read many books that dealt with the same type of hero so this is not me hating on the trope but me saying that in this book it was badly done and it came off as immature, ridiculous and plain stupid.
It was the old spiel, can’t commit and love anyone EVER because I can’t control life and they might die and then I’ll be left completely broken. First of all that whole thing I just wrote does not sound like a tortured soul protecting itself but more like a selfish asshole who can’t see past himself.
He’s like: I wanna live a sad lonely life and isolate myself emotionally cause it hurts less.
Oh fuck off with your self indulgent pity party.
I mean the guy dealt with kids being brave against all odds(as a paediatric oncologist) and trying to live so that they get to experience more of life and what it has to offer and what does he take away from the experience? That he needs to become a robot and be occasionally nasty so that he can keep a distance/ barrier from the world and instead of living life he wants to waste his life away.
Ok, that is selfish, especially for someone who has seen so much death.. if anything it should have served as a reminder that everything is fleeting and so grab onto the good times while you can. Do good, put good vibes out in the world etc.

I think we were meant to read about him and feel compassion and to think that he’s so selfless and scarred and blah blah fucking blah but honestly I didn’t feel anything except annoyance that ARC reviews made this sound like the best work of literary emotional smut since the invention of ... New Adult books I suppose.
Until the very end of the book he kept saying that he can’t and won’t LOVE his kid or Lynsey (the heroine) because he can’t risk them. If he loves them he will endanger their lives cause he could miss potentially life threatening issues. (and yeah that train of thought is related to the kid that died but still it made 0 sense especially for a medical professional to be this obtuse) I was like what?! Say what again?! It makes no freaking sense??
The phrase “Error, try again” comes to mind if I were to describe this book in a sentence.
There are plot devices used to make a storyline coherent and put together and then there’s stupid and laughable ones where I’m like.. if you were out of ideas maybe you should have waited to write a book until you had a good one instead of using the same stuff that hundreds of authors did before you and did it much much better. Lately I hate wasting my time and so I say a lot of harsh stuff in reviews but it doesn’t make it less true.

💫 Girl meets boy in a hospital cafeteria.
💫 Boy is actually a doctor on staff who accuses girl of being a head case because she has been hanging out in said cafeteria for months.
💫 Girl tries to explain herself but it falls on deaf ears.
💫 Girl and Boy bump into each other not long after on a night out, which ends in hate sex.
💫 Three months later Doctor Dick must tell girl that she is pregnant with his baby.
Why is he so grumpy anyway? We live in Boulder! People here are always happy. Legalized marijuana has basically guaranteed that.
Lyndsey Jones has spent months completing her thesis in the unlikeliest of places. Hooking up with Dr Josh Richardson after a couple of rounds of verbal abuse seems improbable until it isn't.
From a one night stand to an unexpected pregnancy and then moving in together, life is crazy. But one thing that's a given is their attraction to each other. The only thing they can agree on.
“Exclusivity means all your orgasms are mine, Jones,” I ground out, my voice deep and authoritative.
She licked her lips and looked up at me, her eyes hooded with desire. “I didn’t know that included battery-operated devices.”
“It even includes your hand,” I stated firmly, pulling the door open and stepping into the shower. “And your fucking dreams.”
Josh and Lyndsey are passionate together but it doesn't change the fact that coupledom and babies was never on the cards. Where Lyndsey is embracing these new developments, Josh has closed himself off from feelings and love.
Eventually their opposing attitudes will come to a head. Because just doing the right thing isn't always enough. Can two people survive a loveless relationship long term?
With witty dialogue, a klutzy, genuinely lovely heroine and a grumpy hero that needs happy pills immediately, One Moment Please was delightful. But be warned, this story ended up being so much more than a rom com. With many ups and downs, steamy moments, it also dealt with serious heartbreaking issues. Although I had to swallow past the lump in my throat a few times, I really liked it nonetheless.

I was in the mood for a rom-com and One Moment Please hit the spot. This was hilarious and I laughed out loud so many times. It also had just enough emotion and kept me engaged. Though I seriously dislike the 'secret baby' troupe, I'm always here for the 'surprise baby' troupe. I loved Lynsey and Josh (even though there were times I wanted to throttle him). This one was great for me and I can't wait to read Dean's book! I'll be listening to it soon!

The execution is for shit, and I’m pissed off with myself that I gave this book so long to stop juggling puzzle pieces around in my face and create something, anything of this mess. By that point, I only finished reading to see how many more ’I hate this shit’ points this book could accumulate. Turns out… a hella lot.
If you don’t want spoilers , don’t read past this paragraph. One of the most unromantic stories ever with some of the dullest characters ever. The plot is forced in nonsensical directions. The dialogue sucks. The pacing and style is a series of fast forwards through ALL the important phases. There’s not a laugh, swoon, or cry to be had. Boring? No. It’s more like watching someone walk through a dog shit minefield and being unable to look away from the nightmare splattering everywhere.
The MMC is pissed she’s in the hospital cafeteria. Why? Who the fuck knows. And when I say pissed, he’s acting like she just kicked a baby kitten and called his mom a skank. Forced. The entire scene felt forced and beyond reason. Meet cute? Ah, no. Meet stupid.
Apparently, the FMC likes to be degraded because she screws him as a ONS after… dumb..da…dumb… she happens to encounter him at a bar later that night being even more of an unsolicited jerkwadpissturd.
The sex scene was weird and abrupt. Not hot. If a dude insulted me like that before even mesmerizing me with his carrot stick, I’d chomp it in half and leave him dip-less. This line alone would’ve slammed the brakes…
B-cups and pinches my nipples. My body heaves with desire. His lips brush my neck as he whispers, “Guess the boob job crack you made earlier today wasn’t from personal experience?” My jaw drops. “What the hell is that supposed to mean?”
“How many women do you sleep with that you don’t even notice when you run out of condoms?” I stand and prop my hands on my hips. “I don’t see how that’s any concern of yours,” he snaps. “It’s not like this is our fucking wedding night.”
They’re both dumb as tree bark. Stupid AF question. Stupid AF answer. Not sexy times here, and not even dirty talk and stranger spankings save this shit.
Fast forward through three months of no contact, and she’s pregnant.
He’s suddenly a tame sweet and sour dick noodle. No feeling. No emotion. Limp. Yet, suddenly he’s not calling her crazy and degrading her every second. Why? Who the hell knows. It’s like he got half of a personify transplant - still an ass but wearing a bow tie to distract from the stank. There’s ZERO character development here. Zero. Nada. Not even the tiniest sliver of light at the end of a long tunnel. Nothing to explain why he was the way he was then nor now. Detached we could get, but going out of his way to be a jerk… kinda jerk… halfass jerk? Just doesn’t make sense.
Speaking of character development. These are not the voices of doctors and psychologists. Depth of cement. Tone of a barely legal goober. I fully expect someone to shout “I know you are, but what am I.”
The author LOVES the fast forward button. We go from hate sex to baby daddy reveal to this…
It’s been a week since our therapy session, and Josh and I have spent a few nights together. He’s taken me out for a couple of dinners. And we even went bowling like actual humans. Although, he got all snappy when I picked up an eight-pound ball and he downgraded me to a four-pounder that I think was meant for children. I laughed it off, but I’m getting the sense that Josh is paranoid about me hurting myself. He is overprotective to the extreme.…
Nothing I hate more than lazy writing, and this is sloth-status. There’s nothing satisfying about building up a character as an asshole for 37% of a book only to be told in a couple of off-page paragraphs how he’s done a 180•. FFS. Note you are told this, not shown this. What you’re shown is multiple personality disorder.
And there’s been no sign of the original dickholeitis ailment he had when we first met.
Whatever. He’s still a dick… he’s just not throwing out insults every other word. At the risk of sounding like a broken record… the dude is just weird. There’s nothing alphahole sexy here. He (and all his personalities and lame attempts at dirty talk) are just sticks in the mud.
There’s something about the sex scenes that just get more and more cringy for me. For one, they have a kid on the way, and both seem just completely wrapped up in the trivial BS and self-gratification. Feels like a cheesy porno trying to play at being a documentary while it secretly hopes to be a long lost episode of ER. By this point, I feel a little psychotic myself.
Her Dean dialogue kinda makes my head turn like a confused pup. Not digging it. Yet, again… it’s weird, not cute, funny, or whatever the hell the author was aiming for.
I’m assuming some of the MC dialogue is supposed to be cute, but it, too, falls flat for me. Just not my cup’a humor/cute/sexy/banter/ or whatever this is supposed to be…
My brows lift curiously. “Watch a lot of porn there, Jones?” Her cheeks flame red. “Not a lot…just the normal amount.” I cock my head as she squirms nervously. “What’s the normal amount?” She scoffs. “What are you, the porno police? Guilty as charged, officer. Better haul me in!”
The one thing the FMC and I can agree on is that the MMC is about as romantic as wet two-day old toast…
She physically recoils from me, and my face falls. “Jesus, what is your problem?” “My problem is the way you talk about me like I’m some sort of problem you need to fix.” “That’s not true.” “It’s what it feels like.”
This mofo’s character profile makes zero sense. He’s obsessed with this baby and the FMC being healthy and safe. YET, he notes how involved and connected the FMC is in the baby, and says this shit…
“Okay then.” I flinch slightly at the idea of her focusing so hard on the connection. If she’s expecting that kind of involvement from me, she’s going to be sorely disappointed.
Makes zero ^^^^ f’ing sense. How you gonna protect something that you’re not actively involved in? Is he gonna set up life bowling bumpers for the kid and hide out in the bushes? Complete nonsense.
Nothing makes sense….
The niece thing echoing his hang up - eyeroll. Once you learn the big lame aha for his disassociate complex, it really doesn’t make a damn bit of sense. Hell, that should’ve been triggering for him.
More of the being all overprotective but detached - nonsense.
He hates kids but is sitting around with her nieces verses avoiding it all - bullshit.
MONTHS of being with her wasn’t enough to transition any feelings toward her other than lust, but he finds out she helped her niece through cancer and that suddenly makes him do a 180 from stiff-arming her to calling her “baby” and making “love” to her but not feeling love for her. It’s cringy. It’s eye rolling BS that makes me want to barf. <<< Again, nonsense once the aha of why he’s so detached comes to light.
By 70%, it’s clear that EVERYTHING about this book is forced and executed in a way that makes me nauseated. From character reactions to the plot points themselves, there’s nothing natural about anything. I feel like each chapter is like a turn of Kerplunck. Not fun.
As the mother of a deceased special needs child, the cancer kid plot should have me in tears, but it didn’t. Instead, the entire cancer kids plot feels like something the author plugged in as an EXCUSE for the MCs to finally connect. It rubbed me all the wrong way. Disposable plot that’s delivered to the tune of an even weaker resolve.
Because I need to keep my eyes wide open. I need to be able to see past them. Caring about them, loving them, will distract me from what’s most important—their safety.
^^^ Is this really the big excuse? Newsflash? You don’t give AF about keeping someone safe if you don’t care about them, love them. My neighbor rides his Harley without a helmet - his business. My kid gets on a bicycle without a helmet, I lose my shit. Begs the question how many doctors and psychologists does it take to change a light bulb … clearly, more than these two.
By 75%, the MMC is back to schizo MMC yelling and pushing her away, but he’s still calling her “baby,” which apparently makes it okay that very little of this story is left and this dude can’t digest a feeling to save his life.
Of course, despite all the safety BS, we find ourselves on a party bus full of drunk “friends” at 76%. Excuse me, but I thought safety was the priority here. So, pray tell, WTF the MMC would be a-okay riding around in a drunken party bus with his almost 30 week pregnant baby mama?
Him at 78%….
She wants more out of life. She could find someone who actually loves her and wants marriage or more kids. Someone who’s not me…. I might not want a traditional life with Lynsey, but I don’t want her having it with someone else.
^ Call me crazy, but if over 75% of a book passes and the MMC hasn’t figured out he loves the FMC or not, can this really be believable on any level?
A proposal. A maybe. And yet another fast forward to a month later.
Around 80%, all hope for the FMC is lost. She’s settling for half a schizophrenic asshat. While not TSTL, she comes off desperate, pathetic, and weak. Some may stay sticking around and being content with what he offers in the hope of more is great, but I find it the furthest thing from romantic. She has a rare movement of lady balls and leaves, but she is the one who does all the work to get him to have the eye-opening moment of … ‘oh, shit, I do love you.’ ~
91% is the most f’d up moment I’ve ever read. He can’t discover love for his own unborn child. He can’t discover love for the mother of that child. AFTER MONTHS. But, what he can do is immediately discover love of his ex best friend’s replacement kid for the kid he thinks he’s responsible for killing, and transfer that feeling to discover… aha, I actually do love my own kid and his/her mom. Wtf. No. Seriously. Wtf. This ENTIRE SCENE made me vomit in my mouth.
Cue the HEA to wash the vomit down.

Nothing I hate more than lazy writing, and this is sloth-status. There’s nothing satisfying about building up a character as an asshole for 37% of a book only to be told in a couple of off-page paragraphs how he’s done a 180•. FFS. Note you are told this, not shown this. What you’re shown is multiple personality disorder.
And there’s been no sign of the original dickholeitis ailment he had when we first met.
Whatever. He’s still a dick… he’s just not throwing out insults every other word. At the risk of sounding like a broken record… the dude is just weird. There’s nothing alphahole sexy here. He (and all his personalities and lame attempts at dirty talk) are just sticks in the mud.
There’s something about the sex scenes that just get more and more cringy for me. For one, they have a kid on the way, and both seem just completely wrapped up in the trivial BS and self-gratification. Feels like a cheesy porno trying to play at being a documentary while it secretly hopes to be a long lost episode of ER. By this point, I feel a little psychotic myself.
Her Dean dialogue kinda makes my head turn like a confused pup. Not digging it. Yet, again… it’s weird, not cute, funny, or whatever the hell the author was aiming for.
I’m assuming some of the MC dialogue is supposed to be cute, but it, too, falls flat for me. Just not my cup’a humor/cute/sexy/banter/ or whatever this is supposed to be…
My brows lift curiously. “Watch a lot of porn there, Jones?” Her cheeks flame red. “Not a lot…just the normal amount.” I cock my head as she squirms nervously. “What’s the normal amount?” She scoffs. “What are you, the porno police? Guilty as charged, officer. Better haul me in!”
The one thing the FMC and I can agree on is that the MMC is about as romantic as wet two-day old toast…
She physically recoils from me, and my face falls. “Jesus, what is your problem?” “My problem is the way you talk about me like I’m some sort of problem you need to fix.” “That’s not true.” “It’s what it feels like.”
This mofo’s character profile makes zero sense. He’s obsessed with this baby and the FMC being healthy and safe. YET, he notes how involved and connected the FMC is in the baby, and says this shit…
“Okay then.” I flinch slightly at the idea of her focusing so hard on the connection. If she’s expecting that kind of involvement from me, she’s going to be sorely disappointed.
Makes zero ^^^^ f’ing sense. How you gonna protect something that you’re not actively involved in? Is he gonna set up life bowling bumpers for the kid and hide out in the bushes? Complete nonsense.

The niece thing echoing his hang up - eyeroll. Once you learn the big lame aha for his disassociate complex, it really doesn’t make a damn bit of sense. Hell, that should’ve been triggering for him.
More of the being all overprotective but detached - nonsense.
He hates kids but is sitting around with her nieces verses avoiding it all - bullshit.
MONTHS of being with her wasn’t enough to transition any feelings toward her other than lust, but he finds out she helped her niece through cancer and that suddenly makes him do a 180 from stiff-arming her to calling her “baby” and making “love” to her but not feeling love for her. It’s cringy. It’s eye rolling BS that makes me want to barf. <<< Again, nonsense once the aha of why he’s so detached comes to light.
By 70%, it’s clear that EVERYTHING about this book is forced and executed in a way that makes me nauseated. From character reactions to the plot points themselves, there’s nothing natural about anything. I feel like each chapter is like a turn of Kerplunck. Not fun.
As the mother of a deceased special needs child, the cancer kid plot should have me in tears, but it didn’t. Instead, the entire cancer kids plot feels like something the author plugged in as an EXCUSE for the MCs to finally connect. It rubbed me all the wrong way. Disposable plot that’s delivered to the tune of an even weaker resolve.
Because I need to keep my eyes wide open. I need to be able to see past them. Caring about them, loving them, will distract me from what’s most important—their safety.
^^^ Is this really the big excuse? Newsflash? You don’t give AF about keeping someone safe if you don’t care about them, love them. My neighbor rides his Harley without a helmet - his business. My kid gets on a bicycle without a helmet, I lose my shit. Begs the question how many doctors and psychologists does it take to change a light bulb … clearly, more than these two.
By 75%, the MMC is back to schizo MMC yelling and pushing her away, but he’s still calling her “baby,” which apparently makes it okay that very little of this story is left and this dude can’t digest a feeling to save his life.
Of course, despite all the safety BS, we find ourselves on a party bus full of drunk “friends” at 76%. Excuse me, but I thought safety was the priority here. So, pray tell, WTF the MMC would be a-okay riding around in a drunken party bus with his almost 30 week pregnant baby mama?
Him at 78%….
She wants more out of life. She could find someone who actually loves her and wants marriage or more kids. Someone who’s not me…. I might not want a traditional life with Lynsey, but I don’t want her having it with someone else.
^ Call me crazy, but if over 75% of a book passes and the MMC hasn’t figured out he loves the FMC or not, can this really be believable on any level?
A proposal. A maybe. And yet another fast forward to a month later.
Around 80%, all hope for the FMC is lost. She’s settling for half a schizophrenic asshat. While not TSTL, she comes off desperate, pathetic, and weak. Some may stay sticking around and being content with what he offers in the hope of more is great, but I find it the furthest thing from romantic. She has a rare movement of lady balls and leaves, but she is the one who does all the work to get him to have the eye-opening moment of … ‘oh, shit, I do love you.’ ~
91% is the most f’d up moment I’ve ever read. He can’t discover love for his own unborn child. He can’t discover love for the mother of that child. AFTER MONTHS. But, what he can do is immediately discover love of his ex best friend’s replacement kid for the kid he thinks he’s responsible for killing, and transfer that feeling to discover… aha, I actually do love my own kid and his/her mom. Wtf. No. Seriously. Wtf. This ENTIRE SCENE made me vomit in my mouth.
Cue the HEA to wash the vomit down.
Overall…
A wasted hot cover on a hot mess book. Run… the aliens have landed.

Let me start by saying that of all the accidental pregnancy stories I've ever read, I've never read one like this before!! Swoon-worthy doctor and a quirky, accident prone girl...what could go wrong?
This is my second book by redheaded, tire shop waiting room, smut writer. , but I'm totally amazed by her talent. She has a knack for making you laugh and cry in the same story. The story starts on at a hilarious scene, hero is boorishly arrogant, pie-butt girl Lynsey Jones is pissed and smooshes the pie on his crotch!!
I mean the first scene had me laughing so hard. Then comes the desperately seeking sex scene and it's hallelujah Dr. Josh Richardson for making her scream out loud...multiple times! Could the hero BE any more perfect.
The third setting is like a bombshell. She's in his ER, and he has the monumental task of informing her that she's pregnant with his baby. Hello Daddy!!
Daws's unique sense of humor is in full display here penning some never before penned lines
“You need to grow some monstrous, mama bear, hairy lady balls and tell Josh your feelings and force him to confront his own.”
“Why do my mama bear lady balls have to be hairy?”
“Because you’re shifting into big bear dick energy.”

As the story gathers momentum, the juggernaut of emotions races and crashes onto your heart. Lynsey was devastated and so was I.
Josh's arrogant shell develops cracks And you can see his hurting heart struggling to beat. It was painful to see a couple so right, suddenly go wrong.
Unputdownable book, it just occupies your mind from the get go. You won't know what to clutch, your panties or your heart.

Amy Daws continues to delight and amuse with yet another clever installment to her Wait With Me series, which have all been massively entertaining and brimming with sassy and saucy humor while her endearing characters are scorching the sheets. Crisply written in my favorite dual POV, I eagerly absorbed this humorous yet emotive and well-crafted tale featuring a fated couple who went from argumentative bickering to being a fire hazard with their heat and magnetic chemistry. I adored them and also learned a new phrase when a consult with Mr. Google was required for “elevator pitch.”

I picked up this book because I'm a sucker for the baby from a ONS trope, considering I quit book 1 early on and didn't read book 2 I really should've known better
1) This guy was a HUGE Dick, he decided he'd be a grumpy asshole and push everyone away because that way he wouldn't be hurt if anything happened to them. For most of the book he acted so cold and said so many stupid things I wanted to smack him
2) The humor OMG 😲seriously??! Talk about immature and eye roll worthy
3) The h was actually ok, she stood up for herself and put him in his place but really did we need another bumbling, klutzy, down on her luck h who thought the H was soooo hot????
4) The sexy times..... Dude what the hell was that??!!!!! Awkward as hell and no, spanking couldn't save it! The hell???!!!
5) The manwhore bestie.....ugh
Yeah clearly this didn't work for ME
On the plus side
H didn't have a condom so that hopefully implies non manwhore
No cheating
They didn't have sex with anyone else during the separation

The Hero: Dr. Josh Richardson (a.k.a. Dr. Dick) - He notices Lynsey writing every day in the cafeteria of the hospital where he works and thinks Lynsey must be crazy. Though he makes no bones about telling her what he thinks of her.
The Story: Lynsey thinks the Doctor is hot, but is insulted when they first meet. She had just finished her thesis when he sat down and acted all grouchy. Things didn’t get better when she sees him again that night while she is out celebrating with her friend. They trade insults and end up sharing an uber and have a one-night stand.
Josh reminded me of a young Alex Karev from Grey’s Anatomy, with the face and body of Captain Awesome from Chuck. I didn’t understand his animosity toward Lynsey at first, but I liked that the two of them could banter and bicker like they did.
This book was told in dual points of view via dual narration. The narration was done by Teddy Hamilton and Erin Mallon who both do a wonderful job with these two crazy characters. They were both pretty funny. I loved when Lynsey sneaks out of Josh’s house on the morning after when he is in the shower after accidentally answering his phone when his Mom calls.
I love the surprise baby trope. I am not as fond of the secret baby, because I hate it when the woman keeps her pregnancy and/or baby a secret from the father. It is a bit smarmy in my opinion. So this one was good and the way they find out is great. This book was pretty steamy for a pregnancy rom-com. I liked everything about it.

nothing that hadnt been done before, and there wasnt anything particularly new that the story brought to the table. but it was an entertaining read to pass the time. plus, i was in the mood for a suprise pregnancy romance, and this fit the bill. also, people seemed to have problems with Dr. Dick, but i was actually kinda taken with him.
his character was the cliché emotionally closed off H with a secret past who cant commit and cant love type, but i really dug his protective side. his freakouts and worries and jealousy endeared him to me lol. and i loved how he tried hard to take responsibility for his actions and provide for the h and their unborn baby. this was cute. thats all.

3.5 Was More Than a Moment Stars

There is always something to be said for quirky meets, misunderstood meets, and downright awkward meets. Amy Daws has brought me some of the best. I think I have been spoiled a bit because I still hold Wait With Me near and dear...I mean come on, a Tire Shop!!!!
In One Moment Please we are starting off with a possible mistaken assumption by a doctor. He has been seeing the same woman in the hospital cafeteria for a month typing away and eating his coveted chocolate silk pie. Not only does she look like she doesn't belong there but she is taking slices of pie that should have been his.
On the day Lynsey Jones has completed writing her master's thesis and is finally able to enjoy her slice of pie, the doctor who has been giving her the stink-eye while she was there, starts to come her way. As he stalks over with determination and focus, Lynsey doesn't understand what his problem is.
Oh, she had noticed him over the weeks she was working in the caf, how could she not. He was the perfect pinup for a hot, dark, brooding doctor in scrubs....and now he was placing his tray down on her table, starting to fork a salad into his grim mouth.
Lynsey strongly asks why he was sitting here and the next thing she knows, this guy starts accusing her of awful motives. Like she could be suffering from a disease where people are looking for attention and sympathy pretending they are sick. Stunned, he continued to say she could be stalking people who are suffering and she has no business being there.
Lynsey couldn't believe what was happening and due to the way this idiot was eyeing her chocolate silk pie, she impulsively shoved the piece into her mouth and then smeared pie on his crotch.
Stomping away Lynsey thought of all the things she should have said to "Dr. Dick".
Lynsey was at a turning point. Her prepaid lease was almost up. She had lived there with her bestie Kate but Kate met the love of her life and was now living with him. She was excited to get on with her life and now that her thesis was complete, her dream of working with children and doing a family clinic was a step closer. She was sure she would be employed in her field and able to move forward.
Her other friend Dean was taking her out to celebrate. At the bar, enjoying her dring named Birds and Bees, Lynsey is happy and enjoying her evening. Dean is funny and charming and normally is a great wingman. But tonight one of Dean's huge clients walks in and Dean's mind switches focus...He wants to get his client's ear. Lynsey is introduced, hellos made, and then behind the client stands Dr. Dick...Yup, Lynsey can't believe it.
With Dean busy with the client, Lynsey has to listen to fresh barbs from Dr. Dick. If only he would leave or find someone else to pester. Because this guy seems determined to annoy Lynsey while being the sexiest, long drink of water...The sparks fly, the drinks flow, and Dr. Dick says one thing too much and Lynsey is leaving. She tells Dean she is going to Uber it and Dr. Dick decides he will share the car.
You know how magnets have a pull so strong they click loudly and are hard to pull apart...Well, these two are sparking and bickering and when the Dr. gets out of his house saying something to annoy Lynsey even more... She gets out of the car slamming the door.
Her booze high is not strong but the lust high is...and these two are ready to combust...like how that dislike or hate screw can be dynamic. That is how hot their coupling is...things are done, things Lynsey never did...both cut loose and it was outstanding.
The next morning Lynsey has disappeared and Josh, who Lynsey had nicknamed Dr. Dick, had wanted to get her number and maybe see her again. But she was gone. Well, for the best, as Josh didn't do relationships or love or commitments. He had learned his lesson, those things caused pain. Caused distraction and made him make mistakes. He will never allow that again.
Three months later, Lynsey's plans have not fallen into place. That job she thought she would get right away, hasn't happened. Her lease is up and now she probably will have to move back home, something she really does not want to do. Her personal life has been dumb and she is going on one last first date because why not.
Well, that wasn't a great decision because she experienced a freak accident that ended up with her in the emergency room. With Kate by her side, she waits for the doctor to come in and look at her cut finger and twisted ankle.
And opening the door is the one and only sexy, annoying Dr. Dick. Yup, he is the one who is going to take care of her, ask all those private questions, and receive the results of the standard tests taken.
Once both of them recover from their first look, Josh is flat, controlled, and handles the situation.
He comes in after all of the results are back from Lynsey's blood test and shock of shock, he gets to tell Lynsey she is pregnant. The ultrasound shows exactly when the pregnancy happened within 2 days...so bingo, Dr. Dick, and Lynsey are going to be parents. Turns out the emergency condom Lynsey dug out of her purse was expired. OOPS.
This is a tale with many strong moments and also with some that caused a bit of frustration. Lynsey was someone who had a goal and was educated. She was able to see life with or without the father of her child. I liked that. She did have moments where I wanted to shake her because she was walking into a situation she knew would probably not end up the way she wanted.
As for our guy...He could be sweet but it was hard for him as he was extremely damaged by his past. He carried major guilt and this past caused him to shut down and compartmentalize in order to do his job and live his life. He was not the man he once was...and this caused him and Lynsey their complications.
There was lots of humor and sexy times. The anticipation of the little one also was a delight. It took a hot minute for these two to finally have their HEA but when they did, we cheered.
This is a series I have gobbled up and there were a couple of hints for other couples...I cannot wait.

There is always something to be said for quirky meets, misunderstood meets, and downright awkward meets. Amy Daws has brought me some of the best. I think I have been spoiled a bit because I still hold Wait With Me near and dear...I mean come on, a Tire Shop!!!!
In One Moment Please we are starting off with a possible mistaken assumption by a doctor. He has been seeing the same woman in the hospital cafeteria for a month typing away and eating his coveted chocolate silk pie. Not only does she look like she doesn't belong there but she is taking slices of pie that should have been his.
On the day Lynsey Jones has completed writing her master's thesis and is finally able to enjoy her slice of pie, the doctor who has been giving her the stink-eye while she was there, starts to come her way. As he stalks over with determination and focus, Lynsey doesn't understand what his problem is.
Oh, she had noticed him over the weeks she was working in the caf, how could she not. He was the perfect pinup for a hot, dark, brooding doctor in scrubs....and now he was placing his tray down on her table, starting to fork a salad into his grim mouth.
Lynsey strongly asks why he was sitting here and the next thing she knows, this guy starts accusing her of awful motives. Like she could be suffering from a disease where people are looking for attention and sympathy pretending they are sick. Stunned, he continued to say she could be stalking people who are suffering and she has no business being there.
Lynsey couldn't believe what was happening and due to the way this idiot was eyeing her chocolate silk pie, she impulsively shoved the piece into her mouth and then smeared pie on his crotch.
Stomping away Lynsey thought of all the things she should have said to "Dr. Dick".
Lynsey was at a turning point. Her prepaid lease was almost up. She had lived there with her bestie Kate but Kate met the love of her life and was now living with him. She was excited to get on with her life and now that her thesis was complete, her dream of working with children and doing a family clinic was a step closer. She was sure she would be employed in her field and able to move forward.
Her other friend Dean was taking her out to celebrate. At the bar, enjoying her dring named Birds and Bees, Lynsey is happy and enjoying her evening. Dean is funny and charming and normally is a great wingman. But tonight one of Dean's huge clients walks in and Dean's mind switches focus...He wants to get his client's ear. Lynsey is introduced, hellos made, and then behind the client stands Dr. Dick...Yup, Lynsey can't believe it.
With Dean busy with the client, Lynsey has to listen to fresh barbs from Dr. Dick. If only he would leave or find someone else to pester. Because this guy seems determined to annoy Lynsey while being the sexiest, long drink of water...The sparks fly, the drinks flow, and Dr. Dick says one thing too much and Lynsey is leaving. She tells Dean she is going to Uber it and Dr. Dick decides he will share the car.
You know how magnets have a pull so strong they click loudly and are hard to pull apart...Well, these two are sparking and bickering and when the Dr. gets out of his house saying something to annoy Lynsey even more... She gets out of the car slamming the door.
Her booze high is not strong but the lust high is...and these two are ready to combust...like how that dislike or hate screw can be dynamic. That is how hot their coupling is...things are done, things Lynsey never did...both cut loose and it was outstanding.
The next morning Lynsey has disappeared and Josh, who Lynsey had nicknamed Dr. Dick, had wanted to get her number and maybe see her again. But she was gone. Well, for the best, as Josh didn't do relationships or love or commitments. He had learned his lesson, those things caused pain. Caused distraction and made him make mistakes. He will never allow that again.
Three months later, Lynsey's plans have not fallen into place. That job she thought she would get right away, hasn't happened. Her lease is up and now she probably will have to move back home, something she really does not want to do. Her personal life has been dumb and she is going on one last first date because why not.
Well, that wasn't a great decision because she experienced a freak accident that ended up with her in the emergency room. With Kate by her side, she waits for the doctor to come in and look at her cut finger and twisted ankle.
And opening the door is the one and only sexy, annoying Dr. Dick. Yup, he is the one who is going to take care of her, ask all those private questions, and receive the results of the standard tests taken.
Once both of them recover from their first look, Josh is flat, controlled, and handles the situation.
He comes in after all of the results are back from Lynsey's blood test and shock of shock, he gets to tell Lynsey she is pregnant. The ultrasound shows exactly when the pregnancy happened within 2 days...so bingo, Dr. Dick, and Lynsey are going to be parents. Turns out the emergency condom Lynsey dug out of her purse was expired. OOPS.
This is a tale with many strong moments and also with some that caused a bit of frustration. Lynsey was someone who had a goal and was educated. She was able to see life with or without the father of her child. I liked that. She did have moments where I wanted to shake her because she was walking into a situation she knew would probably not end up the way she wanted.
As for our guy...He could be sweet but it was hard for him as he was extremely damaged by his past. He carried major guilt and this past caused him to shut down and compartmentalize in order to do his job and live his life. He was not the man he once was...and this caused him and Lynsey their complications.
There was lots of humor and sexy times. The anticipation of the little one also was a delight. It took a hot minute for these two to finally have their HEA but when they did, we cheered.
This is a series I have gobbled up and there were a couple of hints for other couples...I cannot wait.

3.5 "Paging Dr. Dick" stars
I have not read anything by this author before, so I wasn't quite sure what I was getting into, but the blurb caught my attention, and I saw that a couple of people on my GR friends list were reading it, so I gave it a shot and am glad I did!
Lynsay Jones is working to complete her master's thesis so that she can start her career in pediatric counseling - she dreams of opening her own clinic some day. But writer's block seems to hit her wherever she goes to try to get cranking until her mother has a routine colonoscopy and Lynsay waits in the hospital cafeteria for her. Somehow, inspiration seems to strike there, so ever since, she has been setting up shop in the cafeteria, and today she is finally finished! As she is completing her final edits, the grumpy (though smoking hot) doctor she has seen from time to time decides to plop down at her table and completely ignore her. Rude. So Lynsay starts a conversation with him (not one of her best skills - small talk - but she gives it a try). Aside from a grunt and a disdainful stare... nothing. She reads his nametag: Dr. Richardson, and she thinks to herself: perfect - Dr. Dick! After making a bit of a scene which included dropping some of her favorite pie on Dr. Dick's.... dick, she leaves and prepares to celebrate her milestone with one of her best friends out on the town without ever having to see Dr. Dick again.
Dr. Josh Richardson doesn't do small talk. Or socializing. Or talking to really anyone. But he keeps seeing this crazy woman in the hospital cafeteria every day --- and no one knows who she is (he's asked around). Why would someone CHOOSE to hang out in a place where people are sick and die - there must be something really wrong with her. So when he finally makes his dislike for her known, what does she do but drop pie on his crotch?! He should have called for that psych consult for her after all. When his only friend asks him to head downtown with him to grab a couple of drinks and meet up with his investment guy, he reluctantly agrees. And wouldn't you know it... investment guy is with crazy cafeteria girl! Is there no place sacred?!
Lynsay cannot believe that Dr. Dick has now encroached on her celebration - the nerve! And he is such a sarcastic a-hole! Someone needs to put him in his place STAT. When he decides to share her Uber ride home, she is outraged! Her night is ruined AND this guy won't even let her go home to be miserable in peace?? But when they get to his house first and he baits her, she jumps out of the car to confront him... and the car drives off leaving her in a cul-de-sac in a nice neighborhood yelling at Dr. Dick. But then the yelling turns into passionate kissing... and the kissing to fumbling through his house to the bedroom... and the makeout sesh in the bedroom leads to grabbing a SLIGHTLY (by a couple of years!) expired condom.
When Lynsay takes off the next morning before Dr. Dick can leave the shower, she thinks that is the last she'll see of him... but fate is not that kind. A disastrous Tinder date 3 months later involving shellfish (majorly allergic) and a badly twisted ankle lands her in the ER. And of course her doctor is Josh Richardson. But when the routine blood tests come back and show she is 13 weeks pregnant, what began as angry sex has become something much more complicated. And now Lynsay and Josh have to decide where they go (if anywhere) from here.
What I liked:
--- Lynsay is very likeable and her genuine goodness comes through in all that she does; Josh is the brooding alpha male who likes things the way he likes them and is WAY overprotective which is equal parts hot and not hot at certain times (more below in didn't like as much)
--- Cute story that I flew through
--- HOT steamy goodness
What I didn't like as much:
--- Something happened to Josh a few years before this that is alluded to several times in the book (and is finally explained towards the end) --- while the explanation makes some sense, it seems a little over the top in terms of his reaction --- a little too much angst from his end, imo
--- It was a little too quick and neat with the HEA for it to feel realistic
Overall, a fun read with enough of a plot, entertaining characters, and steamy goodness to keep me flipping the pages well into the night!
(As a note, this book is part of a series, and a previous couple appears in the story several times, but I didn't feel like I was missing any vital info to enjoy this book as a standalone.)

FINALLY this book saves my feelings about this series (well not really but it saves me from thinking it's not all a dud).
If you have never read the entire series then you should read this one at least!
I love the accidental/surprise pregnancy trope, and this was done so well. Sprinkle in the grumpy/sunshine trope as well and you have my hooked.
Josh and Lynsey were perfect. From their first meeting and eventual evolution to their relationship they are just so good. I really enjoyed every moment of it, and never felt bored nor that I hate/dislike the MC's.
Dr. Dick was very present throughout the first parts of the book but once you understand his reasons for his behavior and attitude towards a lot of things you start to forgive his outburst and paranoia. He was once a child oncologist, and he was the doctor for his best friend’s child but sadly the child passes from cancer and Josh is blamed by the parents. This propels him to stop working with children and start becoming an ER doctor thousands of miles away.
So, when Lynsey ends up pregnant his first reactions are not good, and it is causing Lynsey to doubt his intentions and actual commitment to raising this child.
You witness in his POV his constant worry about something happening to her and the baby while she is pregnant, he literally cannot stop himself from thinking the worst of every situation.
Despite all these issues, they have such great chemistry and are obsessed with one another but because of his commitment issues they just have a sexual relationship while living together. Obviously this will not end well, and she falls for him deeply while he is still closed off.
I'm glad we understood his past and THANKFULLY we did not get another ex-drama type of book in this one as we have in the previous two.
His grovel was amazing and I loved it, he showed Lynsey that he is serious and madly in love with her. His fear was just getting in the way and he is working on it and it also helped that his former best friend showed up to let him know that if he had picked up the phone when he called or tried to contact him he would of known he was never to blame and he was missed.
They get married and have their little girl. It's all so cute and domesticated!

Excuse me while I choke on my tears. This was an emotional read. I absolutely fell in love with this book towards the last half of the chapters.

This is my second read by Miss Daws. I had a high hope for One Moment Please. And... it falls short. The romance of ONS is nothing new in the romance genre. And Miss Daws have this quirky ability bringing the comedy alive.
What works for me is the story itself. It has so much comedy that I smiled on some part. It is funny to watch how Josh and Lynsey grow together amid the surprise pregnancy. Some of their banters are fun and cute.
What does not work for me is Lynsey. She comes as very needy, immature and spoil heroine. At the beginning of the book, she becomes upset and yelling for no appearance reason. And the shouting match that she throws at Josh is also ridiculous. Thankfully I still like Josh. I just need a bit brooding from him
Despite my dislike toward Lynsey, I still enjoy this book. It still manages to deliver that comedy.

I was really looking forward to this book! The blurb was good!
But once I started to read this book. The blurb is the only good thing about this book! This book was horrible! From the very first moment Josh opens his mouth.... he’s a dick!
I honestly don’t get why authors write men this way in books. It’s not appealing at all. I mean...
I don’t find this endearing or sexy at all.
They are about to have sex and Josh is taking off Lynsey’s bra.
“Guess the boob job crack you made earlier today wasn’t from personal experience?”
Seriously... that’s what you say to a women you're about to have sex with. She has small boobs.
And he’s still rude. I mean... he hasn’t even calmed down with being rude. I just couldn’t stand Lynsey was still willing and wanting to sleep with him.
“How many women do you sleep with that you don’t even notice when you run out of condoms?” I stand and prop my hands on my hips. “I don’t see how that’s any concern of yours,” he snaps. “It’s not like this is our fucking wedding night.”
Yeah.... I would’ve been out the door. Why would I want to sleep with a guy (our 1st time!) that talks to me like that!
Then after sex...
“I’m going to leave,” I state, glancing at Josh whose eyes are doing long, heavy blinks. Man, his jaw is sexy. The corner of his mouth twitches. “Whatever.”
I was so frustrated while reading this book. Because I just don’t get WHY Lynsey tolerated everything with Josh.
“And I certainly never intended to have a baby with a guy who can barely tolerate me."
The way he asked her to marry him. I felt so bad for Lynsey. But when she accepted days later. She was just settling. She knew how he really felt and she just said ok. I couldn’t take it!
Josh was like that for well over 90% of the book. Then he finally see's the light with how he’s been acting and treating Lynsey.
Yeah... I just can’t with all that nonsense.
I also didn’t like how heavy things got with the reason why Josh was the way he was. I thought this was going to be a fun light read. It just didn’t fit for me in this book.
Josh was a pediatric oncologist. He made the mistake of treating his best friends son who had cancer. The son died. It wasn’t his fault. But he took it personally and his best friend sued him for malpractice.
I understand how it’s hard for him to move on. But after everything. How he treated Lynsey. I just couldn’t feel sorry for him. He was a dick to her from day one! And just didn’t stop with her until the very end!
Also too... I hated how Lynsey would say this! What 27yr old talks like this.
“Holy dip on a carrot, I did it!”
"Dip on allll the carrots!"
“Holy dip on a carrot, you are such a cocky di—”

I was so frustrated while reading this book. Because I just don’t get WHY Lynsey tolerated everything with Josh.
“And I certainly never intended to have a baby with a guy who can barely tolerate me."
The way he asked her to marry him. I felt so bad for Lynsey. But when she accepted days later. She was just settling. She knew how he really felt and she just said ok. I couldn’t take it!
Josh was like that for well over 90% of the book. Then he finally see's the light with how he’s been acting and treating Lynsey.
Yeah... I just can’t with all that nonsense.
I also didn’t like how heavy things got with the reason why Josh was the way he was. I thought this was going to be a fun light read. It just didn’t fit for me in this book.
Josh was a pediatric oncologist. He made the mistake of treating his best friends son who had cancer. The son died. It wasn’t his fault. But he took it personally and his best friend sued him for malpractice.
I understand how it’s hard for him to move on. But after everything. How he treated Lynsey. I just couldn’t feel sorry for him. He was a dick to her from day one! And just didn’t stop with her until the very end!
Also too... I hated how Lynsey would say this! What 27yr old talks like this.
“Holy dip on a carrot, I did it!”
"Dip on allll the carrots!"
“Holy dip on a carrot, you are such a cocky di—”
I guess this book is part of a series. I had a feeling I was missing some things with these characters... but overall was able to figure out who’s who.
This book wasn’t for me. It had so much promise but I can’t stand my male lead to be this way. It takes the pleasure out of reading.

This was a really funny and cute surprise baby story.
Things I loved:
- Asshole H. It's my jam and I'll never be sorry for it
- funny h
- funny support characters
- great sexual tension
- 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

When things get serious with the pregnancy situation there was a bit of telling and not showing when it came to some of their early dating interactions. I really wanted to see it and not be told about it after the fact but in saying that there were other parts of the story that were perfectly done so it wasn't detrimental to the story, I'm just a greedy bitch with details.
I really loved Josh though, he's one of those H's who genuinely doesn't even try to be an asshole which I love, it's kind of endearing that he's a grump but when he's with Lynsey he's such a sweetheart.
Also he's got a pretty filthy mouth on him and as you know that's also my jam. I'm such a simple creature really 😂 talk dirty to me and don't be too nice 🤷

I had a blast writing a surprise pregnancy book!!! There are so many fun things to make an expecting couple do!!! And the roommates trope has always been one of my favorites so I was super excited to force these parents-to-be into a living situation together. Talk about sexual tension!
This book was a tough one for me to write...some come easy, and some come hard. Josh Richardson was HARD...mostly because his back story isn't a typical rom-com...he got DEEP on me. And troubled. But it made the lightness of the comedy that Lynsey brought into his life all the more fulfilling. I loved seeing him come out of his shell around this characuterie-loving heroine. :) I hope you all fall for them like I did!

I love this book, and it gave me a nice break from my dark reads. It was the author's first book for me and will not be my last—a nice mixture between laughter and emotional feelings. My only Constructive criticism is there is one scene I wish the author were more in-depth. I felt it lacked with the conclusion. Overall, it’s a good book. Plus, we all need a Dr.Dick in our life.

At first, I thought that the blurb gave away the story- but NO. I love love this book from A to Z
The meet cute is a crack up. I'm not sayin'- just read-it's in the beginning- then you'll be hooked.
Lynsey is just finishing up grad school & Josh is an ER Dr. Josh, aka Dr Dick, is well, he's not very nice to Lynsey when they first meet. Then you-know-what happens!
I love their banter. Ok, it's intense arguing.
This is first person POV alternating Lynsey & Josh.
Things do not go exactly smoothly.
I do love it when a jerk sees the brighter side. In real life and in a fun RomCom like this.
I read this through Kindle Unlimited, but I grabbed the audio- since Erin Mallon & Teddy Hamilton narrated. *Listen to the sample on Audible. omg. I'm already gearing up for a reread (listen)

I was fighting the whole way: fighting my eyelids from closing, my eyes from rolling, my brow from frowning or my shoulders from cringing.
🩺 The outdated, unrelatable writing
There were a few moments when I wondered if this book was written in the 2010's because of how outdated and cringy all the references were.
But no. It says 2020.

Just too silly
These people acted like preteens and the conversations were juvenile and not amusing. I could barely finish. Kudos to the author for writing a book but it just didn't work for me unfortunately. Just my opinion. New adult isn't really my genre so it's just me.

I loved this! Such a fun read but also had some emotions packed in there. Dr. Dick was such a broody & grumpy H, holy crap but he was still sweet if that even makes sense! Definately recommend this, Amy Daws has a way of writing some fun, laugh out loud stories that make you want to finish in one sitting
