There he was in the flesh. My one, my only, friggin' Tristan Blake.
Of course, that’s not what I actually call him. To be honest, I haven’t seen the boy in over five years. Although, now he was much more than just the boy who left me with an empty promise–he was a man now. And much more than just a man–he was a billionaire. I still haven't moved on from him leaving me... He STILL makes my heart skip a beat. But with that ego...especially now that he's rich...oh god. Giving into him would be like taking candy from a baby. There's no way I'm falling for this trap again.
Fool me once, shame on me. Fool me twice, maybe there's more than meets the eye...
I really loved this book about Tristan and Karissa and their second chance of love.
Karissa’s older brother Raymond is Tristan’s best friend. Tristan and Raymond meet in college and they decide together with two other guys to try to start a company. In their holidays they stay at Raymond’s parents garage and that is where Tristan and Karissa meet and fall in love over the summer after college. Unfortunately the men decide to leave town to start the company elsewhere and Tristan leaves without telling Karissa and saying goodbye. 5 years later Karissa and Raymond return to their home because their mother has cancer. Raymond has brought Tristan as support and they are now billionaires with a merger in the works.Tristan has a lot of work ahead of him not only with the company but also with Karissa who still has his heart. Will his attempts at reconciliation work or will the company come between them again?
Tristan and Karissa are truly meant to be and they are so sweet together, but it takes a lot of groveling on his part and he really tries to his greatest effort to win her back. While he does that Karissa is trying to figure out who she is and what she wants out of life and she does a lot of growing up along the way.
I can definitely recommend this book if you are looking for a sweet, heartwarming romance with great characters and a warm family setting in a small town.

I really hate having to review this book so low, but one, it wasn't memorable to me, and two, I couldn't get into the story. I actually forgot what the story was about until I had to re-read it three times beeps it finally stuck, and in not usually one to forget a story. I think more development of the story line, characters, and other alleys probably should have made this a better story.
Please note that I did receive an ARC of this book, and the opinions expressed in this review are my own.
I really enjoyed Tristan & Karissa's story. Good characters. This was an intriguing, fun book. I received a free copy of the book. And am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
The author has brought us characters that truly pull you into their lives. Karissa and Tristan had been friends when they were teenagers. Their lives took different paths and they haven' seen each other for five years. They both return to their hometown due to a family emergency and meet again amid bad feelings on the part of Karissa. Can these two get back on the same path?

The story was neither original nor written in a captivating way. I don’t even know if the author knew what she was writing about, talking about wanting the mother to “regress” while hoping she gets better. Obviously she did not realize that she meant “progress”. The occasional swearing could have been spared, it did not add to the quality of the story. While this story is not one of the worst I’ve read, it definitely is not really worth reading either.
Allie Hayden Second Time Hating You: A Second Chance Romance (Billionaire Love Affair Book 0) Tristan and Karissa This is a sweet story of two people falling in love, then he leaves without a word. Flash forward five years and they meet again, and she gives him the cold shoulder. He needs to work very hard to get her back, and put her first in his life. I enjoyed reading this book!
It was a decent story line. Needs editing. Didn't flow at times. Lots of eyerolling at others. There were a lot of contradictions about the characters and story. This is supposed to be about grown adults but it felt like I was reading about teenagers, which made it weird.
Tristan And Karissa Are Separated For Years In This Sweet Story! Enjoyable Despite Some Issues.
Karissa Marshall, about twenty-five, just withdrew from the New England School of Optometry three and one half years into the program. Quitting with just one semester remaining is foolish, but she takes her mother's medical emergency as the sign she had been waiting for to leave the program. She returns home to Colorado Springs and to her ailing mother, whose cancer has taken a turn for the worse.
She hasn't seen her brother in five years, since he moved his company to San Francisco. Despite the fact that the company he started in their parents' garage with his three college buddies is poised for a huge merger and an IPO that stands to make them all billionaires, Raymond returns home, too. Ray has been a great brother, and although they have Skyped over the years, seeing him and having the entire family together again is welcome. What Karissa doesn't expect, though, is for Ray to being his best friend home, too.
Tristan Blake, about twenty-eight, doesn't expect the cold reception be gets from Ray's sister Karissa. It has been five years since he last saw her. Five years of dedication and tireless work. And after several near failures, he and his friends' greatest dreams are finally about to come true. All because he remains razor-focused on his goals, putting the company above all and taking emotions out of the equation.
He has enjoyed the fruits of his success to date. He is now a refined man. But as he stands at the airpirt in his designer suit and expensive watch, observing Karissa for the first time in five years as she greets her parents and Ray, he is overcome by uncomfortable, long-buried sentiments. Perhaps he handled things wrongly when he left.
Tristan and Karissa are unexpectedly thrown together after five years of separation. They were one another's first, and had only just begun to recognize their feelings for one another when Tristan left. Both Tristan and Karissa cave to pressures that separate them. As much as they would both rather avoid revisiting their feelings for one another and becoming vulnerable to heartache again, they seem helplessly drawn to one another. But Tristan's visit is only temporary, and Karissa must find herself and determine a new purpose in life. The obstacles that separated them before remain. Tristan and Karissa must overcome issues of trust and priorities if they have any chance at making things work a second time around. It easy to feel compassion for both characters. Tristan and Karissa earn a HFN!
There are a few issues that may bother some readers. First, it is hard to believe that Karissa has not seen Ray in five years. Ray loves his family, and certainly he would have made it home for a weekend occasionally or for a few holidays. Additionally, the book would be greatly improved if the writing were scrubbed. There are some spots that are vague and confusing. Other spots have awkward wording. Finally, the admissions process described is not at all realistic. Despite these problems, Tristan and Karissa are enjoyable to read about.
This book has a sweet story and is a quick, easy read. The POV alternates between Tristan and Karissa. The plot is simple. The characters are decently developed given the length. I rate this book 3.5 stars.

Karissa hasn't been back home in five long years even longer since she's seen Tristan, the one that broke her heart. Now with a family emergency calling her and her brother back to be by their parents' side she is going to have to not only face him but face the past. Neither one has moved on from each other but both still have responsibilities that seem to be always pulling them apart. Tristan and her brother are partners in a billion dollar tech company and back five year ago they decided that in order for them to make it in the tech industry they had to move the headquarters of the company to Silicon Valley so off to San Francisco they went, and he never said goodbye. She is still holding a grudge but how long will that last now that they are face to face again?
This was a very good book. The story is well written and flows from scene to scene. It is a quick read, I finished within just a couple of hours after starting it. I liked the characters and I thought that situation has probably happened in real life so it was a believable story. I felt for the main character Karissa, she flounders a bit and really just needs to find her place in the world. I think bringing her home for an emergency with her mom was a perfect way to help her heal and move forward. I also liked the Tristan and Ray (the brother) characters. They have become responsible young men that are hard workers and still understood that family still comes first. I really liked that, when family needs you you come running. Now on a sour note (unfortunately there is one), I have to mention that there are quite a few mistakes with wording being missing here and there or the wrong word being added. While this is a bit distracting, it still didn't take away from the story, meaning the story itself was still quite good and enjoyable. I even cried at the end of it (I'm a sap for a happy ending what can I say?)
I think that if you give this book a chance you would enjoy it a lot more than expected. I know that it was nothing I expected it to be and was very happily surprised when I so invested in the characters and storyline and how everything would turn out.
Allie Hayden’s contemporary romance reflects on the challenges of young love which is often brushed off by observers as “a passing thing,” and the precious gift that time and life experience provides in recognizing the sometimes life offers a do-over, a second chance at love. It is a sweet story of young love that becomes lifetime commitment.
When word goes out to siblings Karissa and Raymond Marshall to come home to Colorado Springs immediately—their mom has been diagnosed with cancer—they drop everything and come. For Karissa, the call comes at the moment of a personal crisis, one semester from completing her optometry study, she has decided to withdraw from the program, and she knows that her physician father will not be happy. Likewise, the timing is difficult for brother, Ray, whose Silicone Valley tech company, founded by Ray and Tristian and 2 other friends, is negotiating a merger and an initial IPO. To support him during his mom’s illness and to manage the business negotiations, he is accompanied by his best friend, Tristian, who also happens to be Karissa’s ex—talk about awkward! For Tristian, being with Karissa was always difficult because she was his best friend’s little sister, but when his business partners urged him to part with her because she was taking up too much of his time and head space, he yielded to their advice just dropped her. He broke Karissa’s heart. Now, five years later, Tristan realizes how right being with Karissa was, and how wrong he was to follow the well-meant advice of his friends. And, this time, he has her brother’s support, but is it too late to heal Karissa’s broken heart? But, once more he is being pulled away from Karissa by the needs of the company.
Hayden’s second chance romance weaves the passion of love lost found with the tension of the crisis that have brought them back together—family and company crisis. It is a win with a HEA ending from an unusual voice’s perspective!

Karissa Marshall’s brother, Raymond, has a best friend -- Tristan Blake. After college, Tristan and Raymond decide, along with two other guys, to try to start their own company. When Karissa had met Tristan, the two were drawn to each other. But when Raymond and Tristan took off for California for their business opportunity, Tristan didn’t even take time to say goodbye, and Karissa was deeply hurt by the way he just dropped her.
Five years pass and Karissa and Raymond go back home, as their mother is ill with cancer. Tristan comes along with Raymond to offer him support. Seeing Karissa again, Tristan uses the opportunity to try to get back with her, but she is not willing to put her heart at risk a second time. Despite his apologies and assertions, she is afraid to trust him.
Tristan and Raymond’s company has been very successful and made them wealthy. But Tristan still needs to give his attention to the business as well as to his efforts to win back the woman he loves. Will Karissa decide what is important in her life? Will Tristan devote his attention to making things right with her? Or will he let his company keep them apart again, perhaps permanently?
This was a good story with characters facing important decisions in their lives. Handling such choices can be very complicated, and it takes maturity and lots of deep thought to make the right choices for the right reasons. How will Tristan and Karissa handle their choices? Grab your copy and find out!
Karissa and her brother were rushing home because their mother was really sick. The whole family ends up meeting at the airport what she didn't expect was to see Tristan her brother's best friend and her secret boyfriend from way back. Tristan could tell from the way Karissa looked at him that she wasn't happy to see him. He had ended things with her on a bad note they both thought it was a secret just between them turns out her brother knew about them. Tristan wants another chance and is willing to do whatever it takes to convince her to try again. Just as things seem to be going well for them her mom takes a turn for the worse and his business needs his attention. Will Tristan choose his work over her again? Will Karissa give him another chance with her heart?
This is a great story that will draw you in from the first page. The chemistry between them is blazing hot. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend this book to any book lover.

This was a sweet story that involved more than just love found. It dealt with family, illness, and determination. This story is about Tristan and Karissa. Tristan and Ray have been friends since college and their pack includes James and Conrad as well. They formed a company on what they knew and loved. They are now millionaire about to be billionaires if this sales goes through. He is the wiz behind creating algorithms and Ray is the brains behind the finances while James and Conrad have their own unique talents. The story starts off on a sad note which is that Karissa and Ray’s mother is sick and has asked them to come home as she fears the worst. It’s cancer. The story has a good ending, but I would have expected a little more especially as they rolled out their relationship. During the story, there is a tug and war match between Tristan and Karissa, but you must laugh at how they go at it. Finally, one gives in and accepts their future.

Another fast read by Allie Hayden. Karissa's on her way home. She's quit grad school with one semester to go, she went to school because her dad wanted her there, and now her mother has cancer, so she's headed home. She's met at the airport by her parents, her best friend, her brother and her brother's best friend, Tristan, the man that disappeared on her without a goodbye 5 years ago. Tristan, Ray and 2 other friends started a company 5 years ago and Tristan got sidetracked by Karissa. The guys had decided to move to San Francisco and get serious about the business and they needed Tristan to be as serious as they were. So, he left, but, never forgot Karissa. The business is a success and they are on the precipice of something huge, will Tristan get sidetracked again or will Karissa even let him get that close a second time?

Karissa and her brother both head home because their mother is sick. What Karissa wasn't expecting was for her brother to bring his best friend Tristan home with him. Let's just say that Karissa wasn't happy to see him there. Karissa and Tristan used to be her secret boyfriend but he had ended things with her and leaving her with a broken heart. Tristan wants a second chance, but Karissa is afraid to trust him again because of what happened before. Will they find their way back to each other again? You will need to read and find out. I loved being on this journey with Tristan and Karissa, their characters were genuine and authentic, with great chemistry between them. This was a heartwarming read, a wonderful second chance romance and one I definitely recommend that you read.
Phenomenal ! This was a phenomenal book by Allie !! Very emotional but once you start reading you won’t wanna stop. Karissa and Tristan’s story was up n down that’s for sure. Tristan is Ray’s (Karissa’s brother) best friend. When they finally realize they have feelings for each other and start a relationship is when Tristan, Ray and their two friends business really starts to take off. And then ultimately the four guys move away for a better opportunity for their business. A family emergency brings Karissa, Ray and Tristan back to Colorado Springs. Karissa is still harboring anger from the Five Years before. Will Tristan still feel anything for her and if so will he be able to break down her walls? Will Karissa be able to let go of the past and move forward? HIGHLY RECOMMEND READING !!

I really wanted to like it more, but they were just too many issues I had with it. It was an enjoyable read.. I did not care for the lack of communication. And then the glossing over of all the hurt and pain like it never existed. There was at least one point where the information given did not add up. I think the storyline itself could’ve been really good, just maybe needs some more work. I didn’t care for the multiple sexual scenes. I also didn’t care for that “God’s view” at the end. Looking back on it, it feels like a combination between a book and a movie. A book needs to be a little more put together and thought out and woven while a movie can’t capture all of the thoughts but does give birds eye views.

Who are Karissa, Ryamond, and Tristan? How do they know one another? Why do we see them all together? Who is Mrs. Marshall? What is going on with her? What happens whenthe boys go to Colorado? What do we learn? What is EPS? What is hopefully going to happen with Tensor? What happens when Tristan is due to go back to San Francisco? Why is Karissa looking to change her major? From what to what? Read and see what happens. Loved this second-chance romance!
Received this book through BookFunnel for a fair and honest review. I am a reviewer for Bloggin' With M. Brennan.
Another win. I read this one in one sitting. So Karissa and Tristan. Tristan is Karissa's brother's best friend and business partner. Five years ago he and Karissa had a thing until they didn't. Now, they are together in the same city once more. I loved the way Tristan was relentless in pursuing Karissa. I hated Karissa's father for bringing up the fact that she had dropped out of college and one of the reasons I loved Karissa was because she wasn't afraid to say that she didn't know what she wanted to do with her life. Breaking Down Her Walls To Get To Her Heart: By Korkoi -
Tristan and Karissa were teenage sweethearts, but Tristan left with Karissa’s brother to pursue his dreams and this broke Karissa’s heart. A family emergency brought them all back together, but Karissa was weary of any interaction she had with Tristan. The story is profound, emotional and mesmerising, with a beautiful message of strength, perseverance, friendships, forgiveness and the wonders of family support. Each facet of the storyline, makes the story come to life and culminates in this awesome must read book.

A quick sweet enjoyable second chance romance. This well written entertaining heartwarming story had ups and downs, a warm embraceble family setting in a small town, angst, anger, romance, important decisions and love. The characters are interesting, relatable, with sexy chemistry that they can't fight as they find themselves facing and handling complicated choices. A great non stop read that I voluntarily read and reviewed and couldn't give up till the last page was turned. Would love to get a story where Ray finds himself a great love.
If you like second chance romances (which I do) and have a weakness for billionaires (sadly true of me too: I love my husband but have always been slightly disappointed he didn’t announce on our honeymoon that he was a secret billionaire ...), well, then Allie Hayden’s Second Time Hating You: A Second Chance Romance (Billionaire Love Affair, Book 0) is just for you. It had all the right ingredients, and a cute and well developed starring couple in Karissa and Tristan, and (important to me even with guilty pleasure reads), it’s really well written with a strong plot. Definitely recommended.
This is the first book I have read from this author and I will be reading more from her. I absolutely loved Tristan and Karissa but sometimes you have to let go of hate but when you have s family member dealing with cancer it brings everything into perspective but karissa held onto the anger for to long. In the end I did love the book and storyline and characters
2.5 stars. This story shows the promise of becoming a good second chance story. However, the book needs further editing to fix things such as inconsistencies in the plot and details, and improve the language and tone in some parts of the book. Another reviewer mentioned that in at least one part of the book, the information given doesn't add up, and I completely agree. I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
This was a good telling of the emotional hate that can be caused by loving and leaving without saying goodbye. It's also a look at what going along with the program can do to make you doubt yourself. I like that 5 years later the main subjects, Karissa and Tristan, were able to meet again because Tristan was Karissa's brother best friend and entrepreneurial business partner. Good story!

Second Time Hating You By Allie Hayden Main Characters: Karissa and Tristan I voluntarily and honestly reviewed this book without bias or persuasion from the author. 4 out of 5 stars This story has lots of heartache, angst and of course forgiveness. It is a second chance contemporary romance. It was a short read but I do recommend it.

Sorry, this book just did not work for me. It was difficult to empathize with the main characters even with the two POV. It seemed like there was more telling of the story than natural evolving dialogue and many parts of the plot just felt too far fetched. For two supposedly smart people, Karissa and Tristan clearly were not too bright and had not outgrown their yo-yo ish actions based purely on emotions. Yes there is a HEA, but the over the top sunshine and rainbows was too much.
