Dima Zales is a full-time science fiction and fantasy author residing in Palm Coast, Florida. Prior to becoming a writer, he worked in the software development industry in New York as both a programmer and an executive. From high-frequency trading software for big banks to mobile apps for popular magazines, Dima has done it all. In 2013, he left the software industry in order to concentrate on his writing career.
Dima holds a Master’s degree in Computer Science from NYU and a dual undergraduate degree in Computer Science / Psychology from Brooklyn College. He also has a number of hobbies and interests, the most unusual of which might be professional-level mentalism. He simulates mind-reading on stage and close-up, and has done shows for corporations, wealthy individuals, and friends.
He is also into healthy eating and fitness, so he should live long enough to finish all the book projects he starts. In fact, he very much hopes to catch the technological advancements that might let him live forever (biologically or otherwise). Aside from that, he also enjoys learning about current and future technologies that might enhance our lives, including artificial intelligence, biofeedback, brain-to-computer interfaces, and brain-enhancing implants.
In addition to his own works, Dima has collaborated on a number of romance novels with his wife, Anna Zaires. The Krinar Chronicles, an erotic science fiction series, has been a bestseller in its categories and has been recognized by the likes of Marie Claire and Woman’s Day. If you like erotic romance with a unique plot, please feel free to check it out, especially since the first book in the series (Close Liaisons) is available for free everywhere. Keep in mind, though, Dima Zales's books are going to be much more PG 13 . . . at least that’s the plan for now.
Anna Zaires is the love of his life and a huge inspiration in every aspect of his writing. She definitely adds her magic touch to anything Dima creates, and the books would not be the same without her. I've really enjoyed this series and just how well written and unique it is and even though I am happy with how it all ended and came together, there were parts in this and last book I wish would of been a little less...draggy maybe? All the headspace events really could have been shorter. There is definitely a lot less action in these and more "headspace" than anything else but, having said that, it was still a super fun read and one I'm so glad I found and took a chance on.
This urban fantasy series comes to an end in an action-packed showdown reminiscent of your favorite superhero movies! I was really curious how Sasha and her extensive band of allies would fare against the big bad Tartarus, and I was not disappointed at all. Sasha has made an epic journey from stellar "human" magician to the multi-powered savior of the world and I enjoyed every step of the way. By the end of the series there was such a huge cast of side characters and many had the opportunity to make an appearance in this book, no matter how brief, but I was happy to see a spin-off series mentioned as some of those characters are so beloved I would not have felt like it was a proper goodbye without the promise of seeing them again. As for Sasha and dreamy Nero, it was a lovely finale for them (though occasional appearances of his ultra-possessiveness would not go amiss - haha). 4.5 Stars
A presto, fenicette.
In the ultimate conclusion to the long, but fun Sasha Urban series... Sasha and her boss/mentor are finally, FINALLY together. I mean seriously, talk about the all-time slow burn. W-O-W. This book has more portals, the big bad of all big bads, another alternant reality and the epic conclusion! I enjoyed the ride!
I really like the Sasha Urban series and I couldn’t wait to get into this last volume. And I have to say that I had a really good time once again.
Sasha is now with Nero in the world of dragons, but things are not so simple because our heroine has visions of terrible things. Tartarus arrives on Earth and seems determined to destroy this world as he has done for all the others before. But on top of that, another vision shows her that her mother is going to take advantage of the bond she has with her to steal her will and make her do what she wants. And our heroine is willing to do anything to prevent that from happening, even if it means blindly following her mother without saying anything.
I had a very good time as I said with this novel. Dima Zales concludes the series perfectly and I confess that I was curious about the meeting with Tartarus, because it must be said that it will be an epic battle. Of course, we’ll find our favorite characters again, even if the ending won’t be all rosy for everyone.
It was a good conclusion and the author presents us with a small chapter at the end of the spin off series that I confess I’m quite curious to read.
I loved, loved, loved this series and the ending did not disappoint!!! The characters are engrossing and come alive immediately. I was invested in what was going on. The twists and turns had me on the edge of my seat. In fact, I was so engrossed in this series that I often kept reading, once staying up all night to finish! Every time I finished a book, I was sad it was over, so much so that I re-read about 1\2 the books right away! This was my first Dima Zales, Anna Zaires series and after I read the first book, I purchased all the previous series' they wrote!!! (PS: I am NOT easy to please!! I want to be entertained, have intelligent and charismatic characters, an engrossing story and well written dialogue. There are lots of urban fantasy books out there but not many that I remember after I am done reading them!! This series is way above the crowd!!)
I feel like I have been reading this series for so long that a well-known and super annoying cousin just died.
This story was one of the only stories that had little ambling to the book, everything actually had a purpose.
Sasha jumped the shark about 3 or 4 books ago by being overpowered, but this is so far beyond that that it's hard to not think of this as a comedy.
The entire big battle that they were building up to was a joke. Lilith was too easy to deal with. and everything was bowtie neatly tied up at the end.
There were two things in this series that I really liked. 1. The fact that she used 'visions' to see things that authors generally can't tell the audience about because the character wasn't there. 2. The way that all of the nerdy references are included organically. Many times when an author includes pop culture or nerdy references it reads like the author just wanted to push it in to show off their 'nerdiness' and it feels forced. This series did most of the nods very well.
Will I ever recommend it to anyone? No. It's too long of a series, the author could have cut out enough of the side quests to take the series down to 3 or 4 books.
Will I think back on this series? probably. It left an impression both bad and good.
This ist he seventh and last book in the entertaining and action-packed Sasha Urban UF series. Sasha has to save the world with the help of her friends and allies by deploying her seer skills and her newly found probability abilities. Additionally, she has to contend with her crazy mom and with events that have been set into motion a long time ago. And since there are a lot of different players involved trying to manipulate the outcome she has to bring all her ingenuity to play so that she doesn’t end up killing her mentor and sweetheart Nero inadvertently (as most of her visions seem to predict) and the world isn’t annihilated by a crazy supernatural being…
I really liked Dima Zales' mixture of Urban Fantasy, nerdiness, cultural references and Russian folklore which brought me hours of mostly light-hearted entertainment interspersed with some more serious notes. I am sad to see the series end, but I was happy to discover that there will be a spin-off, focusing on Bailey Spade who is a Dreamwalker… 4 ½ stars
Sasha Urban #7, conclusion. At the end of book six Sasha has a vision of Tartarus invading Earth and destroying all life. She can't just run away to another Otherland. Even if her friends and adoptive parents weren't around, there's still billions of people. First she has to convince the council(s) on Earth that this is a real threat, then come up with a plan of action. Nostradamus who is also a seer confirms her prophecy, adds that in any visions where Tartarus was defeated it is Sasha that killed him and that he is coming through Lilith's world on his path to Earth and suggests the Cognizant of Earth go there to make a stand against Tartarus. Things don't go as Nostradamus suggested, but maybe as he planned? All we know is he hates Tartarus.
Fun fast read, action packed. The epic fight scene could have gotten confusing or incomprehensible but was easy enough to follow. Well done. Satisfying conclusion. The sneak peeks include a spin off character from this series. 5 stars to this book and the entire Sasha Urban series and I'll soon buy the Bailey Spade books.
I know this is supposed to be a review for book 7, the final book in the Sasha Urban Series, but it’s my review for the entire series as I didn’t review each individual book. This series was absolutely amazing! I literally could not put the first book down and eventually read the entire series in a very short time. I absolutely loved getting to know Sasha, Ariel, Felix, Nero, and friends. These books had it all- friendship, adventure, paranormal experiences, and maybe even a little romance ;) I can’t pinpoint one aspect of this series that I liked more than any other. I also cannot pinpoint one aspect that I didn’t like. If you are a lover of paranormal fiction, this series is a must read!
This series has some good points. Most of the characters were interesting. They developed over time. Although predictable at times, the storyline moved quickly. There was plenty of action.
On the flip side, there was plenty wrong with it as well. Sasha's relationship with Nero was gross and maddening. She is a triple threat badass, yet she is totally dependent on him. He is a dragon who watched her grow up and lasted after her since she was a teenager. He steered her life right into his arms. This suggests that even the strongest women need an overbearing daddy figure controlling them. Not exactly empowering.
I have enjoyed the ride. Emily Durante had an excellent performance. We find our band of the usual suspects fighting to save the earth from the World Killer.
I found this a decent finale with most of our pending questions answered.
I liked the battle and the ability to different point of views. However, there was too much head space in this one. Most of the book actually is Sasha looking through futures or fighting in head space. I would have preferred more real time.
The only other thing that bothers me is that by the end of the book, Sasha has EVERY substantial superpower available 🤦🏽♀️. I hate when the heroes or villians get too powerful.
Anyway, I have enjoyed the series and LOVE how fast they were put out.
In this final book, Sasha gains more power and allies. Her mother being one of them. Sasha plays the doting daughter and gains a power boost. Convincing the cognizant on this plane to join her is tricky. Her plane sounds to crazy to work. The invasion begins, battle begun. Who will survive? Who will they lose? Loved this series!!!
What a way to end the series! Bravo! The battle ensues. Lives are lost. Predictions made and several fulfilled. Revelations revealed and we get a happy ending. I have immensely enjoyed reading this series. It’s almost an addiction to see what happens next with Sasha and her trope.
I love this whole series. Awesome characters and plot development throughout the series. You have the ultimate happy ending with a few losses here and there ( no giving it away). If you love all of the fantasy character types thrown in plus some alien kind of stuff, you'll love this.
I have loved every single book in the Sasha Urban series. This final book was brilliant. Not going to give anything away. Just read the entire series for yourself and you'll see what I mean.Fantastic!
A great finish to this series. I can't wait to check out the spin-off and see what is up with Sasha's oddball group of friends. What a great group of endearing characters. Dima Zales rocked this.
I’m glad the book is over! The repeated multiple outcomes was boring. Smh... This chic was wow... she wants to save everybody to the point of being unrealistic.
OMG.. the entire series was amazing, the writing was so good that I have officially become a fan of Dima Zales writing. I loved all the characters and was hooked to every chapter of the series.
Great conclusion to a fast paced enjoyable story. Sasha must come to terms with who her real parents are and decide how she truly feels for her boss/protector/mentor/boyfriend? All while keeping her friends and family safe from the impending doom coming to earth. This series is amazing! Definitely a must read!
There's only one question remaining when it comes to the last instalment of a series: what is it everything it promised to be?
And the answer is, a very resounding YES!
Aaand... that's it, actually.
Though I can definitely tell you that Sasha Urban is one of my most favourite urban fantasy series and I could fill pages with stuff I liked and enjoyed.
