Into You #1

In Too Deep

They say not to stick your pen in company ink.
Does that apply to graphic designers as well?

This year, I decided to check off a couple life-altering items: Ditch the cheating ex, move into my own apartment, and finally pursue my dream career. When I land a graphic design job at Treasuries Inc., the start-up darling of the marketing world, I think I have it all figured out.

Oh, naïve little me.

I, Grace Holmes, am not related to the great detective, Sherlock. If I were, maybe I could solve the mysterious case of why the universe gave me my dream job, but then paired it with my new boss, Cameron Kaufman.

Cameron Kaufman is a man with a plan--if that plan is attempting to stilt my career. He's arrogant, cynical, and ready to spit sarcasm any chance he can. But, most of all, he is swoon-worthy to a degree of unfairness. Seriously--dimples and a winning ass? Give me a break here!

So, of course, we're hit with a big project on my first week. Of course, now my boss and I have to spend late nights together. And, of course, I'm getting more attracted to his snarky comments as each day passes.

We both have mouths that could kill. My only problem is that I can't stop picturing what else he can do with his, or whether my job is worth risking to find out.

In Too Deep is a full-length, standalone romantic comedy! It is the first book in the Into You Series.

3.5/5⭐️

This was a really cute, quick, and quirky romcom with some shockingly good spicy scenes. Little miss Gracie Lynn knew what she was doing and I was all for it. And I just know Cameron was 100% a tree that I would climb.

I loved that even though these were quick reads, both characters had a backstory that was similar to one another while also being different. This is definitely a great beach read that will keep you entertained and swooning at the same time. Also, who doesn’t love the a story with a couple of puppers in it?

BITCH YES

I frequently forget he’s my boss; I’m too busy staring at his ass when he turns to write on the whiteboard during meetings.
By day, he’s “working Cameron” with a sourpuss attitude and by night, he’s a dreamboat with a cute dog that can melt panties at will.

Employee boundaries? I think I may have crossed those when I was balls deep in my employee this weekend.

She’s doing everything in her power to avoid my gaze and I’m doing everything in my power to meet hers.

Most people call me Cam, but my fiancée calls me Cameron. If you needed to use it in a sentence, it could be said as: “Cameron, I love you" and “Cameron, I need to have sex with you immediately.”
Do I regret sleeping with my employee? Fuck no. I’d do it again in a heartbeat.

having a hot shot boss who is funny and witty AND has a dog. God is it too much to ask?

No thoughts. Head empty. I came back to do a review on this and I couldn’t tell you most of the plot. In the stories defense I have a terrible memory. After looking at the synopsis I remember enjoying the story. It was a cute read but it has mixed in with all the other cute office romances I’ve read on kindle unlimited. Nice and entertaining fast read, just nothing memorable.

Okay this was a fantastic office place romance!!
It was funny, sweet and oh so steamy. I thought the pacing was great and by the time it happened I was just about dying for the main characters to get together! But that just made it that much sweeter when they finally gave in. I loved Grace and Cameron so much and I thought their character growth throughout the book was great. The dialogue and banter was both hilarious and made me feel like these were real friends an co-workers who just enjoy picking at each other. This book also had the cutest dogs so if you are an animal lover definitely check this one out!

Overall I would definitely recommend this one to anyone looking for a new contemporary romance and I'm really excited to see what this author comes out with next.

rounded down from 1.5 stars. i have read this author’s books before and i have enjoyed them but this book is so.. bad. the potential was there but nothing happened in this book. i couldn’t tell you a single thing about the main characters other than they’re annoying, dog lovers and too horny for their own good. that’s literally it. as a reader i couldn’t connect with the characters at all, which made it very difficult to root for them. actually, almost none of the characters are likable and although i got the rest of the series i couldn’t be bothered to read ian and nia’s story knowing how frustrating ian is. too bad.

This was a fun book. I sometimes struggle with stories that reflect my job/my life because it makes me cringe at the sketchy parts that I normally wouldn’t care about (ex. In this book with an employee/boss relationship), but despite that, I really liked the main characters - obviously loved their dogs - and overall thought it was just a fun read.

One of my favorite books this year ❤️ I can't believe that it's Julie Olivias debut!

The writing is really well done and their love story is awesome: swoony, forbidden, funny, hot...
I absolutely loved sassy Grace, sexy Cameron and of course Hank, Buddy, Ramona, Wes, Lynette, Ian and Nia (can't wait to read their book!)

If you're searching for a funny and sweet workplace romcom, give it a try! You won't regret it

I already bought her other books and I'll dive right into the next 😊😉 So a big shout-out to Julie Olivia!

She owns a golden retriever? Say no more!

AND so does HE?! SOLD!

Why did I wait this long to read something from Julie I don’t know but there I am, wishing I started earlier. Her writing got me hooked instantly and I can definitely see this as one of my comfort reads. That’s how much I’m loving it!

This was such a cute little romcom with the funniest banter between Grace and Cameron. She starts a new job and in comes her boss Cameron, and just the way they meet was SO good it’s definitely one of my fav scenes in the book! He nailed it 🤣🤌🏼 As own individuals they’re just so funny I had a blast. Hank and Buddy was definitely the cherry on top 🐕

Grace is so sassy in the most entertaining way, and smart. She’s trying to start a new chapter in life and hits the jackpot with her creative side on her new job. Cameron is really the sweetest. He’s a bit grumpy but the sunshine just pours out of him non stop. He teases Grace in the most adorable and cheek blushing way and I fell hard. The office is a whole 🔥warning zone! I’m with you Grace. Hank and Buddy are definitely not the only golden retrievers in the end 🫠.

Love to see well written side characters that make me wish I was a part of the group. I enjoyed seeing them all together and just wanted more! I’m so excited to continue this series and read their own books!

This book was just not it for me. I was very close to not finishing it about 53% of the way, but I had to see it through. The main characters were so obnoxious and not likeable at all.

I’m all for a confident main character and a woman who is fierce in what she believes in, but the way Grace approached “confidence” was so off putting. She literally worked at her new job for a total of 5 seconds before she started mouthing off to her NEW BOSS and making, what I thought, were extremely rude and distasteful remarks. And I get that Grace’s “thing” was that she was feisty or whatever, but there’s a time and a place for it and no one ever put her in her place for it?? She crossed the line way too many times and everyone just laughed it off.

Cameron wasn’t any better. God, he really fucking sucked actually. At one point, Grace is genuinely asking him for suggestions on a design that she was working on that she thought was “too messy” and apparently, he couldn’t stop thinking about how hard he was long enough to, uh I don’t know, do his job?? So the most he could muster up to help was something like, “Make it.. less messy?” He absolutely did not give a single shit about Grace’s job or her losing it over their forbidden office romance.

The spicy scenes were written so well and really the book in general, but the characters themselves ruined it for me.

A workplace romance HEA set in a marketing firm. Grace is the average 27-yo woman who’s had a bad breakup and makes a life-altering decision to apply for her dream job. Her new boss is the hot-to-trot Cameron Kaufman. The two have a snarky insult-joke banter style bristling with sexual tension.

The buildup between the two characters is the focus in this book it seems. The sex doesn’t appear until the last 20% of the story and the scenes are okay; they aren’t overly graphic or kinky in any way. While some fresh readers may still find this blush worthy, it’s perfectly normal sex for two actually average characters.

There is a relatablility to both Grace and Cameron and reading this novel feels like the author wasn’t trying too hard to make the story so fantastical that the reader can’t believe what’s going on. There are moments and situations where you want to laugh or face palm because of what’s going on but that makes the story good.

I’d recommend for readers 18+ because there is sex depicted. Most intermediate to seasoned readers will find this a palette cleanser in a sense. Easy to digest and read in a single sitting.

ONE MORE BOOK

🤪 not so meet cute
🏢 workplace romance
✨ forced proximity
😮‍💨 forbidden love
👩🏻‍💻 boss/employee
🐶 feat. golden retrievers
😤 getting over heartbreak (tw: cheating not between mc/fmc)
🌶️ u know it babey

grace’s first day at her new job and she starts complaining about her boss to the supposed new guy. said new guy? her boss, cameron. after pretty much blackmailing the man to be her friend, with some fun nights out and their quick wit banter what else can go wrong??

— thoughts/opinions

this story felt very ———~—— like did i like reading it? sure. did i also forget nearly everything as soon as i finished it? you bet your 2023 reading goal i did!

i just found it really slow burn? but also yeah i guess realistic there was some real tension and real things at stake for this relationship to even happen. i liked their friendship and seeing some form of connection

but i was hoping that there would be more of like a relief and an ahhhh moment once the story finished like huh????

idk but i loved the dogs, and loved how much cameron loved his dog like same grace

anywho, i’ll likely be reading about ian and nia bc ian sounded like a fun time and nia being so by the book??? what will that dynamic be like

This was entertaining, but also lukewarm at times. So the overall rating fluctuates somewhere between 2.5 to 3.5 stars.

🔥 good addition to workplace and boss-employee romance

🔥 longing and sexual tension was A+ most of the times

🔥 such a cosy book in a way - dinners with a group of friends, Beer Fridays at work (@my company, TAKE NOTES), lazy times lounging in a bed with their dogs - this just painted such an idyllic picture

🛑 some issues got resolved waaaaay too fast, like there was a genuine relationship roadblock there, with the guy being all "I don't want marriage, I don't want kids, that's not me" and the heroine wanting all that at some point, and after they 3rd-act-break-up, this gets resolved literally on the last 10 pages, most of it off-page between the end and the epilogue - it felt lazy and flat

🛑 the way Cam (hero) acted sometimes with Grace (heroine) - he was her boss and she was working her ass off but at times he was so hellbent on tapering her self-confidence? She'd say sth confident, bordering on cocky sometimes, sure, and he'd get all "Try for some modesty at times" or "That's not how we do things here" and I was all:

All in all: mostly fun, but forgettable. Moving on to the next one!

This random kindle book was a cute story. It was a slow burn and enemies to lovers which I’ve really enjoyed recently. I would probably give it 3.5/5 starts because the plot was very simple/predictable, and there were around 5-7 grammar errors throughout the book. I won’t be reading the rest of the series. It was a feel good read nevertheless.

It took a good chunk of the book for me to become invested in the characters. I wasn't sure if I really liked either of them to be honest. But the author's writing kept me interested enough until I finally felt the chemistry between Cameron and Grace.

This is the story.
I was scrolling down reels on Instagram when I noticed someone making jokes about her own books. I was intrigued so here I am. I have read a lot of these stories ( and if you check my Read shelf you’d see that it is nothing but the truth) so I said “why not?”...
Ladies and gentlemen I’m not sorry.
This is well written, funny dialogues, a clear insight of these characters and a very likable story, but add some steamy scenes and you have a really enjoyable book. Grace grows throughout the book, and although I would’ve enjoyed a little bit more of Cameron’s journey, the cherry (or should I say cherries?) on the top definitely was all Hank and Buddy.
Did it change my life? Well, no, but sometimes you’re allowed to just sit and have a light reading to make you smile. So go for it.
