Ahhh a sweet story about second chances.

He never expected it but now David and his son return back to where David grew up.
He left when he was eighteen, with a disillusion richer. Dumped by Kaden his lover.

Avoiding Kaden is difficult, Kaden wants to talk to David about all those years back.
Apologize and pick up maybe where they left.
No way David ever want to go back there. Diverse circumstances made them meet up more than once. With a son and a dog and some friends around and the opportunity to talk, the sharp edges seem to feel less sharp.

A lot happened fifteen years ago. We can witness them work out all the pain.
Quite a sweet story, captivatingly written with kind mature personalities.
One tiny thing I had some trouble with Quinn’s age he was four, I think his vocabulary and daily life didn’t match with his age. But maybe that’s me.
I love me some second chance love story.

Who says you can never go home again? Given the devastating way two young hearts were broken in Home Again by W.S. Long, it did seem impossible. But time and life experiences have a different trajectory in mind that just might mend these broken hearts.

Kaden Morris and David Peterson were friends with benefits during their final years in high school. However, as hearts intertwined with the “benefits”, and fears of homophobia ensued, David’s promising MLB career was put in jeopardy. Resulting in meddling intervention and a devastating breakup.

After that fateful night, David goes on and becomes the star MLB pitcher his dad dreamed of. A dream that is cut short by a career ending injury. The changing times allow David to marry Jason Edward, have a son and subsequently suffer the pain of betrayal and divorce. Given it all, David packs up his son, Quinn, and heads back to his childhood home in Florida. Never say never, folks!

In parallel Kaden marries his high school girlfriend and settles into a normal life. After five years that “normal” isn’t cutting it for Kaden and they divorce. Accepting his sexuality, Kaden comes out and moves back home to Florida. Again, never say never!

Who says you can never go home again? ‘Home Again’ is a sweet second chance romance that happens when the timing is right. The folks interact gracefully giving it a realistic and believable camaraderie.

With the past and these experiences behind them can David and Kaden reconnect? Kaden recognizes and accepts his missteps on that unfortunate night fifteen years ago. He understands that the pain inflicted may be too great for David to get past. But he is willing to give it his best shot to fulfill their destiny.

This time around the meddling has the intent of reconnecting David and Kaden. With friends like Sarah and Vi, the adorable Quinn, and a sweet retriever, anything seems possible. But first, David and Kaden must clear the air while dealing with a self-absorbed ex and daddy. Kaden is so adorable this time around you enthusiastically encourage him.

The moral of the story – You can go home again and resolve differences. Home Again is a sweet second chance romance that happens when the timing is right. The folks interact gracefully giving it a realistic and believable camaraderie. The re-bonding between David and James is hesitant at first but morphs into a stunning partnership and family.

Home Again
MMy Thoughts and Review:

I enjoyed this little Novie immensely. A compelling story filled with real-life struggles a single dad must now face after a long divorce process. David finds himself uprooting his four-year-old son, and his life for the past 15 years in L.A. and returning to his hometown in Orlando.

Moving back into his childhood home would be an easy adjustment were it not for his son’s desire to be with his other dad and his life back in California. To make adjusting harder David’s first and very secret boyfriend, Kaden has also returned to Orlando.

After a few tumultuous starts and stops, David and Quinn find their way in this new life without maids, Hollywood stars, and David’s ex-husband’s constant cheating, and learn to embrace the friendships new and old, thunderstorms and humidity, and other adventures. Behind every cloud and all that. Kaden slowly adds to the father-son duo, with the help of a childhood best friend, and what once was dead has been given a second chance at life.

This story is sweet and just an overall delight. A gentle reminder that sometimes trading the big things for the small allows for room to grow even better things than you had before. I am not a fan of second chance tropes, but this one left the baggage at the door and only allowed in a look toward better things to come. The author shared a piece of their gentle soul in this story and it moved me. I think it will move you too.

A good story and I love the cover.

I really enjoyed this book and I'm basing my review and rating only on the story itself (more about that later).

Second chance stories and friends-to-lovers are my two favorite romance tropes. Home Again has both of these elements. David and Kaden were friends in school and by the end of high-school they were much more than that. Both were in the closet and Kaden, in particular, was afraid to let anyone know about their relationship. He dated girls and was confused about the feelings he had for David and their relationship. They end up having a big fight, the night before graduation, that tears them apart for many years.

David goes on to college on a baseball scholarship and then to a major league baseball contract that ends with a shoulder injury that ends his career. He marries another man and they have a child together. Kaden marries the girl he dated in high school but that ends in divorce.

David returns to his boyhood home in Orlando after divorcing his husband for cheating. He doesn't know that Kaden is living only a few blocks away.

I thought the pacing of this story was very good. It's not a long book but David and Kaden didn't immediately jump back into a relationship which I thought was good. David's first concern was always for his 4-year-old son.

This is not a steamy story but I enjoy a good romance whether there's a lot of steam or not. I think that W.S. Long did a very good job with the romance and the story overall. The only problem I had was that there were way too many errors in the copy I read. I'm not talking about just a typo or missing word here or there. I was told the review copy I received was the final for-sale edition. I attempted to find out for sure from the publisher but wasn't able to in time to meet my deadline for this review. I sincerely hope that the copy I received wasn't the final.

A copy of this book was provided to me but my review was voluntary and not influenced by the author.

WS Long's Home Again had my heart melting throughout. It's a short, quick, and sweet second chance romance.

Former high school boyfriends David and Kaden have plenty of animosity and unresolved feelings between them when they meet again. Their second chance is wonderfully done, full of many tender moments throughout.

David's a former pro baseball player, who's back home after divorcing his cheating wife. And then there's Quinn, David's young son. Quinn is well written and his issues will totally pull at your heartstrings. He absolutely kills me.

David and Kaden are two men who definitely belong together, and when they finally get there, it's beautiful.

Home Again's a story of timing and life's bigger plans. It's perfect when you're in the mood for a heart-felt second chance romance. I will definitely be re-reading this WS Long gem often. At just under 100 pages, it's a perfect short read.

This was a sweet second chance.
It was low-drama, former lovers finding their way back to each other. I really felt the heartbreak of David and the feelings he had about not being good enough. I even resented Kayden a bit for that. But 15 years is a long time to grow up and see what's important in life.

For such a short read this was filled with emotion, friendship and the forever kinda love that was bouncing off the pages. If it's not clear - I really enjoyed this story.

If you are looking for steam, this isn't the book for you, but if you want a good book about second chances that include the love of the main character's life, then you need to pick up this book today! It's a quick read that doesn't take a lot of time, but it has the feels and some amazing characters. David and Kaden dated, and then, it fell apart. There were some outside forces at work, but now that they are both in their hometown, what is going to happen for them?

This a great read, and I do wish it was longer and included a few more scenes, but I was not disappointed. 4.5 stars.

Home Again is written with characters that have flaws and problems just like the rest of us. There's misunderstandings, forgiveness and second chances. I liked both David and Kaden, but did feel that the reasons they originally parted weren't really discussed enough.

Still, they made a lovely couple and, apart from a little angst, their romance was fairly straightforward. A pleasant story, throw in a cute kid and you've got an adorable romance.

ENG- So well well well… well first, you should know that it is a very short novel. Too short. Because for me everything is going too fast. There are many points that I liked but also many which left me perplexed. We will start with those there to finish with the positives.

The novel is already full of faults. And for me to see the mistakes in English, it was that there were a lot. And that they were big. I’m not talking about a few typos like you can find in ARCs, but real mistakes that hindered my reading.

Then there are several scenes that I found out of nowhere, including one concerning David and his ex for the care of their son. It was .. weird and really not believable. And everything is going too fast. Several points are not detailed, in particular the reaction of David when he learns that his father is at the origin of his breakup with Kaden 15 years earlier … it’s quite bizarre …

However, the novel is very short and therefore reads very quickly. The author’s pen remains pleasant and the characters are endearing even if they would have benefited from being more developed.

The character of Quinn, David’s son is endearing and the Single Dad aspect is really nice. The story between David and Kaden is cute and the supporting characters are endearing.

In summary a too short romance that would have deserved to be more developed. A nice Single Dad but which will not be remembered.

If you’re looking for a sweet second chances story, this is a good one for you. However, there are some angsty moments and moments you want to punch both exes and even a father, but for the most part is a new start for David and his little munchkin, Quinn, as they are trying to learn how to do things on their own.

David had all he could take of his ex, when he caught him cheating again. And that had just been the icing on the cake. That doesn’t count for all the other garbage the man has been pulling during their eight years of marriage. But when it’s time for him to move himself and Quinn to his old home in Florida, his heart can’t take knowing his son wants to go back to California. Even though that quickly changes, it was still scary and still scary that it may change again as Quinn gets older. But now things just seem to get even better, as he finds out from his best friends, that his first love is back in town and down the street from him. And now out. As in out out. And David doesn’t know if his heart can take the memories and along with everything else pushing at him. But Kaden is trying to show how sorry he is and how sorry he will always be for the things that happened between them. But can David let his guard down one more time and let his heart back in play or will he make sure no one else can hurt him again...or Quinn?

I’ve been in David’s shoes and it’s not an easy thing. You want so much to hope that someone would consider your feelings this time and guard your heart. And now with a child involved, there’s even more at stake. Because you have to make sure that your child comes first and no one hurts them either. But it’s scary, now matter how you look at it. Especially when you’ve been burned as many times as David has, and the first love is the one trying to get back in your good graces. Yeah, the chemistry may still be there, but how far can you really go? So I felt for David. And I felt for Quinn as well, coming from a broken home. And for the same reason David left. Kids should never be put in the middle the way Quinn was, and I’m glad books aren’t interactive or I would have punched the ex for sure. But fortunately, in this case it does turn out good. Quinn is slowly but surely finding his way in a new place, and David is learning to trust again. No matter how hard it may be. Sometimes we just have to forget everything and let the past go and just start over. Especially if the flame has never died. It may not always work, but you never know unless you try.

It is a good story and it does have an HEA. But it’s not without its angst. So you might need a few tissues. But overall, it’s worth it.

Thank you for the ARC read, I voluntarily give this book an honest review. David has moved with his son across the map from California to Florida after the messy divorce from his now ex husband. The struggles of explaining to a four year old that nothing is his fault, all while trying to handle his own emotions of being back in his childhood home. News of his first love being back and also his neighbor is trying to say the least.
Kaden as so many thoughts of how he handle thing fifteen years ago with David, all the maybes or what if that run through his head amount to nothing if he can't get David to talk with him much less forgive him. Recommended this for a second chance romance of high school secret sweethearts to knowing what they want now in life.

David finds himself moving back to his hometown with his four-year-old son after his divorce from his husband. At one point in this story there was a part that made me cry but I dont want to give away to much, it was an emotional moment but I believe we needed it to understand the relationship between David, his son and his ex-husband.

Kaden, David's high school secret lover/boyfriend, also moves back to their hometown after his divorce from his wife. Kaden wants to talk to David about what happened 15 years ago but doesn't know if and where to start.

This was an emotional but also a sweet wonderful story. I definitely recommend this book!

This was such a sweet story, at 30% it had me in tears, a sad sad moment between David and his 4 year old son Quinn. After a messy divorce from his famous husband David and Quinn return to his home town, only to find out his high school boyfriend Kaden has also returned. The pain of reliving that dreadful moment 15 years ago when Kaden panicked and shunned David, all the old hurt, that never went away, washes over him again. Kaden wants to try again but David is scared of being hurt again. I had been waiting for the release of this book, I was not disappointed.

This book was just ok for me. It is a second chance story with very little romance, zero heat level and too many pages are dedicated to David’s and his son’s move back to Florida and struggle to find a new routine rather than to the feelings involved in reconnecting with David’s high-school crush.
