Bewitchment, bad omens, and baked goods.

Tension is building in the supernatural world. Trainees destined to join the supernatural police force are under more scrutiny than ever to prove their worth. That doesn’t concern top cadet Alice LeBlanc, though. She has cakes to make and mid-term papers to write. Between baking, training, and classes, she has everything figured out… or so she thinks…

Then Adrien Dusang shows up on campus and Alice’s life shreds apart. An urban legend is stalking students, and several of Alice’s friends have vanished. Her commanding officer orders her to stay out of it, but her friends are more important than her reputation. She will question everything she knows about right and wrong during her investigation. Can Alice save everyone, including her future?

A thrilling prequel to the author's debut novel, The Road to Witches.
Payback's a Witch gives readers the Alice LeBlanc-Adrien Dusang back story that they so crave after reading Book One. Alice's SPIF beginnings and her relationship with her best friend Silvia are also explored, making for an exciting, tasty introduction to the Baking Club and beyond.
Fans of the first book will delight in the latest mystery that befalls mundanes and supernaturals as they receive a warm and witch-filled welcome back into the series.

Alice and sylvia are out getting food for their party. Alice runs into a man with green eyes whose not very nice and all the bags of food and drink fall to the ground ruined so she must go back to the place she got them from to get more. She stops to help another student being bullied. When she returns to campus, she finds the students laying in the grass passed out from a spell and her shifter friend hurt badly. She gets help and runs into the unpleasant man again.she doesnt know what happened. This was a good story. I really liked it.

How rocky exactly was the meeting of Adrien and Alice? Let's just say there were no pet-names between the teacher's pets.
Even if the story must not have been really amusing at the time for most of the person involved, it clearly showed how dedicated Alice was and how she could make up for her lack of magic with friends, and preparation. She should probably lean a bit more on others rather than rushing but it gives her some edge which helps the reader relate.

I loved reading how things started for Alice. She’s so awesome! This is a prequel to the series and it’s a fantastic adventure! Supernaturals are missing and after a party goes bad and Alice and Silvia’s friend ends up missing, well, she can’t just not look into why! There is also Adrien, another SPIF cadet. He just transferred in and is driving her crazy! It’s kinda funny!

Payback's a Witch is the prequel to "The Road to Witches" in An Alice LeBlanc Mystery series.

I really enjoyed the backstory of Alice LeBlanc and her time at the supernatural police force academy. This story is well written and captures the mystery on campus and how it affected how she is today.

I read and reviewed this book with no obligation.

I have enjoyed the book. Great characters and relationships among them. Lots of small town busybodies and law enforcement officers. Good reality and background. Enjoyable and funny read. Magical crime requires magical detective.

Interesting backstory detailing the 1st meeting of Alice and Adrien. Fun to learn about how Alice and Silva function in the supernatural world even though they don't have traditional powers. A good quick read.
