You’d think I have it all, and on the face of it, you’d be right. I’m the VP for the Satan’s Devils MC. I’m married to the woman who’s been by my side all my life, my best friend turned lover who’s expecting our baby in another six months. Surrounded by family, both blood and club, I couldn’t be a happier man. Or could I?What happens when suddenly everything you thought you wanted in life becomes that which you least desire? What do you do when you’re consumed with the thought there’s something out there that’s better? The problem is, being driven to finding out, means leaving my club and they’re not going to let me go easily.
Manda’s life's always seemed a bit weird, starting with a childhood that even today she’s still trying to make sense of, then losing her parents in the late teens. Going from the tragic to the bizarre, who else could be unlucky enough to have had two car accidents, neither her fault, one involving a nun, and another involving a police woman?
There isn’t enough space to list everything that’s happened to Manda, or what she’s learned from it. But by using the rich fabric of her personal life, psychology degree, varied work experiences, and amazing characters she’s met, Manda is able to populate her books with believable in-depth characters and enjoys pitting them against situations which challenge them. Her books are full of suspense, twists and turns and the unexpected.
Manda lives in the beautiful countryside of Essex in the UK, the area’s claim to fame being the Wilkin’s Jam Factory at nearby Tiptree. She can usually find jars of jam which remind her of home wherever she goes. As well as writing books and reading, Manda loves walking her dogs and keeping fit. She lives with her husband of over 30 years, who, along with her son, is her greatest fan and supporter.
Manda is thankful that one of the more unusual, and at the time unpleasant, turns her life took, now enables her to spend her time writing. Confirming, in her view, every cloud has a silver lining.
Wow to say this book will have your emotions all over the place is an understatement. At first I was not feeling it, but then it just rushed at me and I could not put it down. Hawk is going through something, questioning everything he knows. Olivia is the woman by his side that will follow him anywhere. Their adventure is a rollercoaster that will have you flying through the pages. These characters are like old friends and you will smile and cry the whole way through.
Its heartbreaking and heartwarming. It ripped my heart out and put it back together. My eyes stung as I fought tears. It took me through an emotional wringer.
Eli cant understand himself. Why is having everything he ever wanted, now not making sense? Having the only woman he ever wanted, not mean anything to him. Olivia is reaching for her man, but she doesnt understand why hes pushing her and everyone away.
This story really struck me. I got Eli, I felt his frustrations, esp after I knew his reasons. Manda has done it one more time. Again. Its only annoying that I cant give this book more than 5⭐. It deserves more, much more.
If youve never read a book by Manda, Read this. You wont regret it
To say I experienced a whole host of emotions whilst reading this book would be an understatement, it began with joy and happiness at being reunited with the Satan’s Devils MC again, well family I should say as that’s what they are, they’re more than just an MC, although the main focus of the story is on Eli (Hawk) and Olivia as they await the birth of their first child the rest of the Satan’s family that we’ve come to known and love feature progressively throughout. I’m not going to delve into my reasons as to why I felt the way I did whilst reading Hawk’s Cry as I don’t want to give anything away but I went from joy and happiness to feeling concerned, horrified, confused, panicked, overwhelming sadness, worried, heartbreak then back to relieved and happiness again.
My heart fractured reading this, however piece by piece it was gradually healed, as the Satan’s family pulled together with camaraderie, humour, pride and love showing us readers exactly what it means to have one another’s backs, you’re never alone when you’ve got your brothers beside you 🖤
Another fantastically written addition to my favourite MC series, congratulations Manda you smashed it out the ballpark with this one.
How do I write a review for a book that touched my heart and soul, a book that I could relate to the characters so well? HOW??? This book was amazing. Every time Manda completes a book, I always tell her this is the best one...until the next one comes out. Well I think this will be the book she has written that has touched my soul and will always hold a special place in my heart. For a person to be able to write a story that impacts emotions so much, tells you how amazing the author is.
Eli was a lost/confused soul, who could not understand why everything he ever wanted, he no longer did. He could not understand why the love of his life, no longer interested him. He was lost and confused.
Liv is doing everything she can to support and trust her husband, while taking care of herself and the baby she is caring. Due to Eli distancing himself from her, Liv makes a decision that ends up turning out to be a bad one.
Eli and Liv's story is one that several people actually live each day. These characters were so relatable I couldn't help but be sucked in from page one.
Manda not only wrote an amazing story, she was able to spin in a lesson for all of us while touching on a very real problem.
I could go on and on about how much I loved this story, all I am going to say is READ IT!!!
Reading this book over the past few days has given me heartache as well as hope for the future.
Eli is struggling with his own mind which leads him to making decisions that weren't normal for himself it also went on to affect his wife Olivia and their relationship. There are lots of lows in this book that really knocked my mind in itself but also helped me to realise about mental health and how it affects men as an whole.
A year ago yesterday 15th April someone very close to me unfortunately took his own life that had a devastating impact on a lot of lives. Manda as done a fantastic job at showing that its ok not to be ok and for men it's ok to reach out.
I've spent a lot of this book crying in both ways sadness and happiness and I would like to thank Manda for highlighting everything she did, there is always a rainbow at the end if you just reach out.
I gotta say right off that I was riveted to Hawk's Cry, totally enthralled with this story. Hawk has lived and breathed the club for so long and now he just wants to get out. The only problem is, the Satan's Devils MC don't exactly have a retirement plan. As VP and husband, along with impending fatherhood, Hawk can't seem to take a deep breath. He is drowning in doubt and anxiety. He doesn't discuss anything with his wife until he has already let it slip to his best friend. With an hour, he is telling his Prez and the other MC members, including Hawk's own dad the former Prez that he wants to leave. Everything really goes off the rails then and I felt like we were just reeling with the punches. Emotionally battered and scared of how this was all going to have a good resolution, I was not going to be able to sleep without knowing they would all be okay. Freaking phenomenal read, Manda Mellett rocks! She gives us all the gritty MC goodness along with real characters that you are deeply and emotionally invested in. All the stars for Hawk's Cry!
Hawk’s Cry is the second book in the Satan’s Devils MC Second Generation series. It can be read as a standalone, but I highly recommend reading the other Satan’s Devils series to get a good feel for the supporting characters. Plus, all of the Satan’s Devils series are excellent reads!
While this book wasn’t as action heavy as some of the previous books, it deals with an issue that many people experience. I don’t want to go into specifics because I don’t want to ruin the impact of the story, but Hawk’s experience is very relatable on many levels.
I am glad that Liv’s character was a strong support character because in so many cases IRL things are not that way. From an emotional standpoint, she is a strong female lead in this story.
This book is a superb read and I can’t wait to see what issue this author tackles in the next book!
Wow! Well I'm jumping up and down over this amazing read! Ms. Mellett thank you for all the roller coaster ride on this one! This book tool me to so many highs and lows. I didn't want it to ever end! Eli( Hawk) and Liv there story was so emotiomal and I felt this is so many couples. It was so hard to see Eli push away and Liv so confused. It was amazing to see all the Satan's Devils again. I really didn't want this book to end! I can't get enough of this series! I came late to the game and having a great time starting at the beginning! So its been a great reading time!
This story touches on a subject not a lot of people will acknowledge that happens. That is mental illness, all forms. Hawk has lost his confidence in himself and almost looses everything that he loves along with it. He hits rock bottom and cant figure out how to cope, and he doesn’t want to bother his family both blood and Club, because he thinks he has let them all down. Liv, has only ever wanted two things, to be with Hawk and to not lose her family and home. But, when thing get to be to much for Hawk, he turns his back on everyone and thing that he loves, including Liv and their unborn child, thats when trouble hits from an old enemy. It will take all of the Satans Devils to take the threat out and in the process to get Hawk the help he needs. As a family they are in it for the long haul.
Wow I didn't see that coming i really thought that he had fallen out with the lifestyle and to take the beating like he did was really brave of him, I felt so sad for his wife who was perfectly happy with the home they had built and having her family all round her. In one way I was so happy when they found out what was wrong but then I thought no you shouldn't be happy you should be upset for them. Another 5* read
How many times can I say..... this book was absolutely amazing??? Well, every damn time I read one of Manda’s books!! It gets harder and harder to express just how amazing of an author Manda is....seriously!! This book was just, I struggle to find adequate words, phenomenal. The ride was full of emotions.... heartache and joy.... and I was sad when it ended. It’s always that way with this author, no book seems enough. I need more!!! I can say with absolute certainty, you will never be disappointed with any Satans Devil MC book. I don’t want to give away any of the plot of this book.... just read it!!! ❤️❤️
Have your tissues ready this book is a roller coasters of emotions. It’s heartbreaking and heartwarming. Manda Mellett this book was absolutely amazing!!
It was hard to see Hawk push everyone away and Liv was so confused as to why he did the things. When things get to be to much for him he turns his back on the ones that love him.
Manda you have done it again and l can’t wait for more!!
Hawk’s Cry by Manda Mellett a five-star read that is worth your tears. This is number two in the Satan’s Devils MC Second generation series, I have read the first generation and am now going back to read the second generation and they have just built into an amazing picture, You could pick up the second generation but I have loved them all and really do think I benefited from reading them all. I love the way Manda Mellett has with words, she will drag you into the lives of these characters kicking and screaming if needed. Hawk is a troubled man and he has his reasons for what he is thinking and I am not going to go into detail as the author does a great job of revealing the story and I am not going to spoil the drama. All I will say is that this is sublime, and done so well, I sobbed buckets during this one, as my dad went through this and he didn’t have anyone like the Devils, and I was so happy that the Devils stepped up for each other even though it’s a story it still shows us the darkness. Now get reading as you will miss this amazing story.
Hawk’s Cry is the second book in the Satan’s Devils MC Second Generation series by Manda Mellett. I have read all the Satan’s Devils books from the original right through to this second generation series- and have loved them all. This series follows children of characters we’ve come to know and love in the previous series. so, having said that, I highly recommend reading the previous series before embarking on this one- as I think there is a lot of background information, character details, and relationship insights that are revealed in those books- which if you knew, would definitely give you a better understanding and appreciation of this book. This is a contemporary MC romance story, and as such it is full of bikers, suspense, sensitive topics, comradery, action, drama, emotion, and more. It did take me a little while to ‘get into’ this story and connect with the characters- I wasn’t sure I would at one point- then something changed and I was there- hook, line, an sinker. Hawk’s story really pulled at my heartstrings. Gave my emotions one heck of a workout and had me twisted up inside. Another brilliant addition to the series!
This is a story for those over 18 as it deals with adult content and possible triggers.
Hawk is the VP of the Satan’s Devils MC mother chapter and he is in love with a beautiful woman who he has known all his life, he is married to her and has their first child on the way, he is the son of the old Prez and is following in his footsteps by living and breathing the MC life, but it is not the life he wants anymore and he wants out, but it is only when one of the other members comes to find him and find out what is wrong that he opens up and says what has been on his mind, they can’t understand it though and end up storming away in disbelief and leaving him to his thoughts and what he is going to tell his wife. As he approaches her, she knows something is off and has known for a while, but she is astonished when he tells her about his decision and then heads off to the weeks meeting with the other members before they have time to properly talk about it, but as he enters the room, he realises that his talk wasn’t as in confidence as he thought and that he has told the other member, so as he goes through the motions of the meeting, he is hoping it is over soon so that he can find out the ramifications of his decision.
As most of the members leave the room, they are told to stay close as they might end up being needed again and this is when the discussion about Hawk’s choice is brought up and nobody likes it one but it is unprecedented and nobody is really sure of how to proceed, but nevertheless, the conversation starts. As Hawk is trying to explain his decision, he is struggling to find the words he needs ro explain himself, so he just outright states he wants to leave the club, the compound and this life, but that he wants to take his wife with him, as expected, tempers fray and emotions are running high, but reality starts to hit as his options are laid on the table. This is when the other members are invited back in and the cards are laid on the table as they each take a vote, the decision ends up being a close call, but a beatdown and immediate expulsion are chosen, the next thing he knows, he is being escorted to the storeroom and after his dad takes the first hit, he sees him leave while the other members show him exactly what they think of the situation. As he regains consciousness, he is on the floor, in a world of pain and his house is being packed up around him as his wife cries, they are then taken to another place to live until they can find their own feet, he hadn’t realised how hard this would be on his wife, especially when their mums have to explain what decision was made and what the other option was.
As he has now left the club, he has to give up his road name as well and live life as Eli, but as he and Amy try and settle into a new life, he is unable to do anything while he heals and his moods deteriorate and he starts to spiral even more, Amy has no idea how to handle his distance and what to do about it as it is all new to her, but she ends up making a friend, albeit a male one, but one day things take a turn for the worse for both Eli and Amy when one feels unable to cope and the other has no idea how bad things have gotten. What will happen to the not so happy couple when the truth is revealed and things out of their control start to happen around them? This is a romance with a dark undercurrent which sweeps you along as you watch events unfurl and see the decisions which have to be made and the consequences of the actions which follow.
Hawk's Cry (Satan's Devils MC Second Generation #2)by Manda Mellett
5 out of 5 stars Hawks cry is the second book in the second generation of Satan’s Devil MC written by Manda Mellett and it is not my first book or the last book that I will read by this awesome author. The characters are great and is well written, I also loved the plot and you also get to see some of our favorite couples and what their up too. I read this story in one sitting that how much I enjoyed this story. Hawk and Olivia have known each other since they were in a crib, they were friends then lovers, now their married with a baby on the way. The last few months Hawk has pulled away from everyone his wife the club he is an emotional roller coaster and does not know what wrong or how to explain himself. All the while Olivia stands by her man when he emotionally hurts her. So now Hawk and Liv have become citizens since Hawk walked away from the club. Now that they are on their own Hawk withdraws even further and says things that send her running. While she is out, she meets a man that seems harmless or so she thought. It comes to light that Hawk is suffering from depression while he makes some progress Liv end up getting kidnapped. Will this break Hawk or will this snap him out of his rut? Will he find out who has Liv and what he wants? Will the club turn their backs on Hawk when he needs help finding Liv? Will they find her and the baby unharmed? You will need to read this amazing story/ series and cant wait to read Being Lost San Diego chapter. Tracy @tracym
This book needs to come with a ‘tissues required’ warning. Hawk’s Cry by Manda Mellett tore me apart. I had spells of sobbing, ugly crying. It really hit very close to home. Hawk’s Cry is the 2nd book in the Satan’s Devils MC 2nd Generation. Each book I read by Manda Mellett just gets better and better. I’m totally in love with the Satan’s Devils. In this book Manda Mellett tackles a very sensitive subject close to my heart; depression. Having suffered from depression for over 20 years and having my lowest spell ever last year I can totally empathise with Hawk and my heart broke for him on so many occasions. Hawk is the VP of the Satan’s Devils, he’s newly married and has a baby on the way. Everything should be perfect in his life, but it’s far from it. He feels like he’s a failure, like he’s been pushed into everything and hasn’t made any decisions for himself so decides to leave the Satan’s Devils and start life anew as a citizen. Leaving an MC isn’t something you do lightly and there are consequences in doing so. Does his new life with Pregnant wife Olivia bring him the happiness he wants? No, it definitely does not and it leads him to putting his family in danger. Will the Satan’s Devils help him out? Will he realise that he needs help? I urge anyone and everyone to read this book but please make sure that you have tissues with you as it will tear at your heart. Would give this more than 5 stars if I could!
Once again, Manda Mellett grips you by the heart strings with this second story in Satan’s Devils MC Second Generation series! I highly recommend reading the first book in this series prior to this one…and reading the first series prior to that…to get the full story and details on all the characters you’ll be reading about.
Have you ever felt lost? Like you were supposed to be doing something else with your life? I think we are all kind of directed down a path in life starting with what we learn from our parents as young children. It’s what we know, what is expected of us. Being in an MC must be an even stronger influence. The expectations even higher than in a normal family. Imagine living that life and having everything you ever thought you wanted, being the VP, having you lifelong friend and lover at your side, and having a baby on the way, and suddenly questioning it all. This is Hawk’s story. And it is a powerfully emotional one!
These people have become like family to me reading though this series and I care deeply about what happens to each of them. I went on a journey with Eli (Hawk) and Liv and definitely felt every page. The Satan’s Devils never let me down and this book is no exception! Manda Mellett has quickly become one of my favorite authors and I am constantly left wanting more after each book!
Hawk’s Cry: Satan’s Devils MC Second Generation #2 by Manda Mellett caught me completely by surprise. I thought I was getting a typical MC novel, but was pleasantly surprised. This story was about Hawk, or Eli, and his struggles. Hawk is VP of the Satan’s Devils MC, married to the love of his life, and has a child on the way. But he starts having doubts, is this really what he wants out of his life or was he just bred for this? Being a spitting image of his father, the ex-president of the club, it was always assumed Hawk would follow in his father’s footsteps. Maybe citizen life is better, where he can have a life of his own. But if he leaves, he will never be able to come back.
This story was refreshing to read. Though it dealt with some heavy content, I think it is important to bring light to mental health issues that everyone deals with. Depression and panic attacks do not discriminate and many times people don’t know how to rationally cope with these issues. Hawk began doubting himself, his life, and his choices. He didn’t know if he could live up to pressure and thought the only way to fix them was to get out. This story was a wonderful read and I look forward to reading other books by this author.
I really enjoyed the story! First off I love coming back to visit all these characters! In typical Satan Devils fashion we go on a journey through the ups and downs with these two. The story is filled with characters we know and love. Hawk and Olivia are already married so I wondered where this one would lead me. Hawk saddened and frustrated me then shocked me. His thoughts and feeling were WOW! Olive is a born and raised Princess of the Satan’s Devils. She has no desire to ever leave and is happy living amongst family and friends. But her husband has changed and she worries about his well being. She is a old lady through and through, Tough and she stands by her man.
I love how the author took old main characters and made them secondary characters. I love still seeing them but not in the spotlight. Don’t get me wrong I enjoy reading anything that had them in it. But I also enjoyed reading about their kids and their life now.
Overall this is a good story with an inside look at marriage life with a high ranking officer. I always enjoy these characters and look forward to more. This author does a great job making me love these characters then knocking me down just to pick me back up.
Hawk’s Cry (Satan’s Devils MC Second Generation #2) by Manda Mellett
5 +++++ Stars
Oh my goodness am I enjoying this second generation series, this was a genius idea and of course this author makes it all fresh and new just like every other book she comes out with. I will say though that this just about broke me...I was ready to smash my kindle before I was out of the 1st chapter, you talk about an emotional roller coaster this was it! I feel so attached to ALL of these people and I've got the whole compound pictured in my head and I just can't say enough about how much I love the Satan's Devils, all chapters but this one holds a special place in my heart.
I never want any of this to end, I don't care which way she goes, what new cities she chooses to stick a chapter, I seriously never want it to end. The snippet at the end of this one tells me we are headed to San Diego...Bring it on!! I can't wait though to come back to the second generation, I need to see how the future has played out for Hawk and Liv.
If you want to get lost in one of the best MC series ever then start at the very beginning with Turning Wheels and dive in...You will not be sorry I promise, this author makes everything feel so real and transports you directly into the stories she writes!!
Hawk’ Cry is the second book in Manda Mellett’s Satan’s Devils MC Second Generation series. Oh my goodness! I have read the original series and Colorado Chapter spin off but when I finished the first book in the Second Generation series I know that she has stepped up with these stories of the kids of the original MC members! What makes the second generation series even more special is that we get the old timers, pardon me, the original MC family and then we see the kids all grown up with their challenges and lives and … Hawk’s Cry gives us Eli “Hawk” and Olivia who are MC brats themselves, are waiting the birth of their first child with the rest of the MC family. You would think that in general it is the time of joy and happiness but Hawk’s Cry gives us doubts and heartbreak and feeling like you cannot breath anymore and the world is closing in on you … oh my, we are left emotionally battered once we finish the story … I love how Manda is not afraid to address sensitive issues. I am sure when you picture a VP of a MC, you think of an alpha male and then the writer brings in the question of the mental health and how men deal with it and … Kudos to you dear Manda and I cannot wait for the next one in the series!
Hawks Cry Satan's Devils MC Second Generation #2 By Manda Mellett ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ Heartache, suspense and Love is the storyline for this book. This is for adults only due to violence and contents.
This is Olivia and Eli (Hawk) story. Liv and Eli have been friends from birth. Yes birth! As many times they were together. First in childhood, then those teenage years. Now in marriage, followed by the growing family. But something is not right. Something is eating at Eli, making him make unwanted choices. Losing his brothers, his family in blood and his MC. Now the struggle is on him, and he has taken his Liv with him. She will follow her husband and best friend to the ends of the earth. No Spoilers!
Manda Mellett has done it again. I have loved each and every book leading up to this one. I have followed her characters as well. But this book broke my heart in the beginning! Manda Mellett literally takes you to this MC, you feel like you are there. Watching what is going down, and you can't do a thing about it. Get out the tissues, wine and chocolate you're going to need them. Oh and don't plan on setting this book down any time soon. Enjoy the works Manda Mellett! I can't wait to see where the next book goes.
I love Manda Mellett’s ‘Satan’s Devils MC’ series and so was looking forward to reading this novel in her new series about the ‘Satan’s Devils MC Second Generation’. Hawk is surrounded by family both blood and club, he was literally born into the club and as VP for the Satan’s Devils MC he is an integral member of the club. Hawk is also recently married to his best friend turned lover, Olivia and they are expecting a baby in six months times, so he should be happy but he’s not. Hawk is questioning his life as everything he thought he wanted in life has become what he least wants, a“What do you do when you’re consumed with the thought there’s something out there that’s better?” Hawks dilemma is whether to leave his club, however his club brothers are not going to let him go easily and what about his wife and unborn baby. I literally went on an emotional rollercoaster whilst reading this novel, I really felt for Hawk who was obviously dealing with depression, and I felt Mellett handled this with sensitivity and honesty, but I also felt for his pregnant wife Olivia. I fell in love with the Satan’s Devils even more reading this story, and I look forward to reading future books by Manda Mellett.
Wow! What an emotional roller coaster! Hawk’s Cry is book number 2 in the Satan’s Devils MC – Next Generation Series by Manda Mellett. Eli aka Hawk is the Vice President of the Satan’s Devils Motorcycle Club. Olivia aka Ollie or Liv (only used by Eli) is Hawks wife. They have been brought up by birth together, so it was only inevitable that they were to get married. Though they were somewhat pushed together, this is definitely true love. That is until Hawk has some serious doubts about his life with the club and with his wife. Then with the blink of an eye…No club, No family and No Friends. What happens when all you’ve known is club life and it’s all been taken away and you finally become a citizen? This book shows a woman who fights for her baby, her marriage and her life. It also shows a man who struggles with a disease and is shown full blown support. With that support he starts the road to recovery. This book has lots of twists and turns that no one is expecting. Like I said before, this story is an emotional roller coaster that leads to a very happy ending. It is book number 2 but you can read as a standalone, which I always say don’t do. I haven’t read such a great story in such a long time!
Agin the cover art …. I just wanted to reach out and hold on so tight and snuggle into that chest …..
Now I get where Eli ( Hawk ) is coming from with the questions he’s got , I mean he was born into to this safe bubble albeit it dangerous, but it’s like a world on its own with its own rules and they don’t really know life out of it and the decision he makes is life altering and doesn’t just affect him but his unborn child and wife a well ….
Liv and Hawk have been one since the beginning of time and I can’t see them separate but things take a strange turn and Liv is loyal and it couldn’t be easy for her , just shows you the power of love ❤️ but at the same time something is ailing Hawk and isn’t well … trouble calls and Liv knows who really has their best interests at heart and calls on the brothers of Satan to help ….
These bikers come across as big , burly and dangerous and trust me they are but underneath that they have massive hearts and when Joker and Hawk have a heart to heart I actually had to stop reading and just breath …,,
Despite what went down when one of them is down the whole family gets together and fights the battle this was a hard and beautiful read for me ….
I have never had a negative experience reading anything from Manda Mellett and this second novel of the second generation in the Satan's Devils MC is no exception to the rule.I would recommend that you go and start with book one but I do believe that it could be read as a standalone. I sincerely feel these stories flow together so well though that you couldn’t go wrong following the series as it is laid out. I can’t ever say enough good things about how strong and skilled Mellett is at weaving emotion into her stories in a way that will have you breathless. I just love the characters that we have all grown to love and get small snippets in these books and we see how the world has changed for them. This novel gives us the story of Hawk and Olivia and these two will definitely steal you off of your feet. I couldn’t put this novel down until I had consumed it all and found out how things would turn out for these two. They really show the strength love can be for us and the amazing things that can come of it. I can’t wait to see what will come next in this series and all the other series I have fallen in love with from Manda Mellett!
As always Manda Mellett delivers another fantastic story. I am always left wondering how the next book can top the previous but I am always left speechless. This book made me feel so many emotions, my heart broke so much, but was of course repaired in the end. Manda Mellett always has a way of making my heart ache and then bringing me joy again. I was really concerned for Hawk, many people out there do deal with depression, and do stop their lives to wonder what they are doing, and where they will go from here on out. In the other books we can see that Hawk is in love with his wife Liv and is ecstatic that he will soon be a father, but he starts to doubt himself, his life’s work, everything he has ever known. The pain Liv has to endure trying to help Hawk as much as she can, and standing by his side through it all was beautiful and sad all at once. The twists that are thrown into this book, as well as the content are fantastically written, the characters are epic and have been since the beginning. I would highly recommend this book, and the whole series to any motorcycle club romance lover.
Hawk's Cry: Satan's Devils MC-Next Generation #2 by Manda Mellett
This is another fantastic read by Mellett. She knows what to do to bring readers back to her books. Hawk's Cry is just amazing.
Olivia was born and raised in the MC. Six months pregnant and now out on her own. Of course, her husband, Eli, is with her. Not having family or friends close by sucks. The quote I chose for Olivia is: “I do. I’m six months pregnant. I’m happy to try to get a job, but I’ve had an easy life. All I’m capable of being is a barista or something.”
Eli, aka Hawk, has left the club behind. He was born and raised there, but he doesn't want the same for his kids. He's let down family, friends, and his wife. Ths quote I chose for Eli is: “I’m my own man. I knew what I was getting myself in for, and it was the fastest way out. Dad would have tried to persuade me to change my mind, and I didn’t want to talk. My decision had been made. Sure, Throttle might have brought it up quicker than I expected and forced the issue, but though I’m hurting, I’d never take it back.”
