snooze.
superheroes are, sadly, the crown jewel of the category Things That Should Be Interesting But Sadly Are Very Boring. they are the talking animals of the billion dollar movie market. everyday people being able to do insane sh*t and usually fight monsters or something...should be fun. but they aren't.
and i know that might sound like an opinion, but unfortunately for all of us i've never been wrong in my life and therefore everything i think, speak, and feel is inarguable fact from now until the end of time :( sorry. it's a burden.
i've had summer reading more fun than this book.
and sure, i was a dork, but even i prefer picking my own books when i'm on vacation. i'm not a nightmare creature. (well, usually.)
superheroes are always boring (see above), but these characters are a whole new level. they are SO BLAND!!! the nice ones are blandly nice. the evil ones are uncompelling in their villainry. the ones who choose to torment us by falling in love with each other do so without an ounce of passion, fun, or drama i can invest myself in.
being done with this series is an absolute gift.

Conflicting thoughts. The first half of the book should not exist. The second half was decent yet left me confused and a bit underwhelmed.
The series has been such an action packed ride, so for the finale I do admit that I had high expectations. It backfired. The first half sucked the life out of me and I couldn't stand the repetition. We were made to relive the same conversations from Renegades and Archenemies again and again. There was no action in the first half even though the stakes are high. It was so slow paced and nothing really happened.
The second half picks up and tries to balance things out. The characters feel like themselves here and it doesn't feel like a tedious read. I liked the plot twists and reveals here. Also, it was action and death packed, that's always fun to read. It felt good to finally get some answers but could have done that in the first half as well.....
Nova, who was my favorite in the last two books simply ANNOYED me in this one. It greatly impacted my reading experience. I couldn't stand her constant lying even after getting caught. I couldn't stand her hypocrisy. I couldn't stand her. Nightmare didn't do much if I think about it. Adrian was better and I preferred him over Nova in this one. I liked to see him step up and take care of those around him. I also liked the plot reveal with Phobia. Phobia truly seemed deathly scary in this one and I had my jaw on the floor. I wasn't expecting that reveal at all. Winston gets a special mention because his story broke me. His character arc broke me. Idk what to think about Max now tho. Sure he's a cutie but the whole thing with Supernova confused me that I have no opinion of him.
Not much romance. I was so exhausted by Nova's attitude that I didn't pay enough attention to her and Adrian. But Oscar and Ruby are the real winners in that department. They are so perfect for each other and so wholesome.
I do believe the ending could have been fleshed out and better explained, especially when it came to Supernova. The whole thing just seemed so confusing to me. I did like the action at the end with Ace and Captain Chromium but the rest of the Renegades seemed underutilized. The epilogue tho??? OH MY GOSH. It seems like we might get a spin off. I do want to read that at some point if it ever gets written.
Overall it's a very subjective finale, bit disappointing for me tho.

What if the lines weren’t so clearly drawn? What if she wasn’t either a hero or a villain? What if she was both?
Wow, so I finally got my hands on this book!
I’m leaving up all of my theories up at the bottom of my review because that’s what 99% of the comments on this review are in reference to. It feels weird to delete them now even though I’ve read the book because then everyone’s comments on here won’t make sense. So while they are left up, that doesn’t mean that any of my theories were right or wrong. Don’t read into them still being here!
All that being said, here’s my actual review:
I really enjoyed this book. RENEGADES is one of my favorite YA series. It’s all about good versus evil. About forming your own opinions and not just believing everything your parents and the government tells you. It has some romance and some found family. It’s sweet and wholesome and violent and morally grey. It’s great!
The beginning of the book is action packed, but the middle was reallllly slow. Slower than any part of the previous books. But the last third of the novel is so fast paced it makes up for the slow middle third!
I feel so bad because Nova is constantly being manipulated by everyone around her. I just want to teleport myself into this world and give her a hug (and hope that she doesn’t stab me in response).
This was a great ending to the series. I loved how it addressed everything from abuse of power to prison reform to worker’s rights to challenging leaders to recognizing that your parents’ views aren’t always right. I do wish a few plot points were wrapped up better at the very end, but overall it was a great end to the trilogy! I love how the ending sets up the potential for a spin-off series.

Okay, brace yourself for THEORIES. (This contains spoilers for the first two books)
If we don't fucking get the big reveal with Captain Chromium and Dread Warden and Adrian and Nova and in one place I WILL FUCKING RIOT. I craveeee that drama. Like *surprise* your son's first girlfriend kind of tried to kill you.
I can't wait for Nova to be all "Well it's because you didn't save my family" and them to be all "well, actually it was your uncle's fault" and Nova to be all "no! you're lying!!" and Adrian be all "no, they are telling the truth" and then Nova go all psycho-killer on Ace.
Also, can't wait for Danna to lead her swarm of butterflies back to Nova's house and everyone be all confused and a huge fight occur and Nova gets caught.
And Adrian will have to go all Sentinel and his dads will find out.
I can't wait for Nova to realize the helmet was meant for her the whole time. Also what's up with the bracelet trying to connect to it?!? What's the meaning of the star Adrian kind of made her that got attached to her bracelet? Magpie said it's super valuable. Is it....dare I say....love? (ha! so cheesy)
Can't wait for Max to wake up and be like "that Nightmare chick lowkey saved my life....also have you notice how her perfume smells like Nova's?"
If I don't learn who killed Adrian's mom or Phobia's backstory I will declare this whole series a waste of my time.
Theories I had after the first book THAT WERE NEVER ADDRESSED:
-Either Phobia and Ace totally dated or Phobia is Adrian's bio-dad. (It would explain the note and why his mom could never reveal his true dad). OR BOTH.
-Max stole Adrian's mom's power, that's how she died. Hugh and Simon found out about Max that way when she fell to her death. It's why they were so adamant about taking them in.
-Also I picture Max as someone who drains a battery not steals a power. Because of the whole Ace ending thing. Where Max could drain a person of their power (keeping it if he doesn't use it daily) and the prodigy has to recharge and still has their power.
-Ace hired a hitman because Nova's parents were working with the Renegades. Ace blamed it on a rival gang. The whole "loyalty" and "the Renegades will come" and "they must be stopped" speeches her parents gave makes me think they were totally helping the Rengades. Also her dad hid her power from Ace because he knew Ace would want her for the cause.
~OR~
-Ace didn't hire the hitman. The hitman was actually a Renegade sent to hurt Ace via his fam. Either way, their deaths seem shadier than the Roaches killing them...

this is definitely the best book in this series. i am not a fan of superhero stories, so i have no idea how i have made it to the end of this trilogy, but i am so happy this ends the way it does.
the significant difference between this last installment and its predecessors is the character development. in the first two books, everything is black/white, good/evil, hero/villain, friend/foe, etc. but this book finally gives the characters some wiggle room to venture into that grey area in between. it allows for human complexity that isnt quite present in the first two books, and i think that this new characterisation is a great asset to how this story is resolved.
i will admit the action scenes still feel a little cheesy to me - literally all that is missing is a POW or BAM in little balloon bubbles down the margins - but the nonstop pacing makes this go by very quickly. the story hits the ground running on the first page and doesnt stop until the end of epilogue.
i think many fans of this series will be beyond satisfied with this conclusion. i know i am!

First of all, I called it. I figured it out and you can bet I'm smug about it.
Second of all, this book is totally going to have another sequel right? Like, there is no other way but for it to have a sequel? A spinoff maybe? A six-book series? Will it ever end? Will the battle between good and evil ever be won by either side? Idk. But you can bet I'm down to find out!
In this "final" installment all the build-up finally has it's payoff and all the epicness that had been hinted at before is finally showed. We finally see Ace Anarchy be the badass he was always mentioned to be. We see the full extent of Captain Chromiums powers and of each of the character's abilities. And of course, we see the epic final showdown that is the battle for Galton!
Also, we see the relationships that are at the base of this story. Adrian's relationship with his adoptive fathers and brother is absolutely everything. And Nova's complex relationship with her uncle and the remaining Anarchists was so wonderful and twisted and I loved every second of it.
This review is all over the place and its because my emotions are everywhere and I have forgotten how to use words. Bear with me.
This book was good y'all. I have to admit, book one felt long-winded and like nothing more than an overdrawn out introduction to the world and characters. Book two was fairly entertaining. This book though? This is where it's at. It was 550 pages long and I was hooked through every single one of them!
Overall, this was such a satisfying conclusion. And such a great and subtle beginning to the new age of hero!

⤷This book was actually so insane 😭 If you guys were watching me through a camera in my room you would've actually seen me screaming crying throwing up !!! Can't believe I finished this series because I'm now experiencing withdrawal symptoms omg... Can't say much because spoilers, but this book is so fast paced and I was holding my breath throughout the whole thing 🫣 The reveal of secrets went crazy ngl!! I can't believe that the plot grew so much and so well from the first book, you just gotta experience it ‼️ The conclusion is so satisfying but the epilogue got me questioning life LOL. May be recency bias but Nova and Adrian are probably my favorite characters I've read about this year, they are both so lovable but still flawed in ways that are believable - I also love how they both have such strong values but also so much understanding for each other. Their romance is so cute and awkward but in an endering way 😌 Only complaint is I needed a few more crumbs of happiness at the end, Marissa Meyer please give me a novella 🙏🏼

This was SO GOOD! What a phenomenal finale. It was just nonstop action from start to finish. It seriously felt like I was reading an X-Men film. When I picked it up, I didn't want to set it down for a second! Plot twist after plot twist! :O
Adrian (our resident softie) and Nova (our resident badarse) finally worked through their relationship kinks. Secret identities are revealed. Some people are imprisoned. Some are executed. And some are just casualties. The war against the heroes and the villains are finally laid to rest in the fight for either a dictatorship, anarchy, or freedom. But the ending also implies that maybe not everything is as resolved as it seems...since peace rarely lasts forever.
I DEFINITELY can't wait for Marissa Meyer's next book! (Perhaps it's time to finally pick up the Lunar Chronicles!)

The last 150 pages or so were perhaps the most intense pages I've ever read. Wow.

Al fin me veo preparada para contaros algo más de este libro. En verdad, sigo sin superarlo después de casi dos semanas.
Sin duda, ha sido mi mayor decepción en mi vida lectora. Después de haber leído Las crónicas lunares (que amé cada libro), de leer Sin corazón (maravilloso también) y los dos anteriores libros de esta trilogía con la que quedé totalmente encantada, me encuentro con "este final" y aún no me creo que la autora nos haya dado esto. Lo pienso y me parece surrealista.
No os puedo contar mucho con detalles de la trama, pero digamos que estamos llegando a un punto donde los personajes están a punto de descubrir quién es cada uno y el juego que está realizando en esta lucha de Renegados contra Anarquistas. Y fue en esos momentos cuando Adrian me decepcionó enormente como personaje y jamás le llegué a perdonar. Su actitud fue surrealista y no me encajaba con su personalidad y evolución. Y obviamente, no me gusta nada como salvan este asunto en la novela.
Las dos anteriores novelas me encantaron, pero la primera tenía un aire introductorio y la segunda un aire de transición tremendos, por lo que esperaba que aquí hubiera una gran historia, una gran pelea (a ver, que las hay, pero se quedaron insuficientes), una gran trama llena de giros inesperados, más emoción, más amor, más sentimientos, no sé, MÁS TODO. Durante toda la lectura tuve un sabor muy agridulce, como si estuviera leyendo un libro que no parecía un final de saga, sin momentos épicos y memorables.
Algo que adoraba de las anteriores novelas era toda la variedad de personajes, sus personalidades y la evolución que estaban teniendo. En esta historia, muchas de las personalidades de los personajes se han cambiado de un día para otro para el bien de la historia y eso no me ha gustado en absoluto. He sentido que no ha sabido potenciar a Nova, la maldita protagonista, y en esta novela hace poco o nada para la trama. De verdad, que tiene dos escenas decentes llegando al final y ya. Y eso me ha dolido hasta el infinito porque era un personaje increíble, fuerte y con unos pensamientos muy claros. Lo de Adrian ya os lo mencioné antes, su comportamiento me decepcionó hasta el infinito.
Algo que sí me ha seguido gustando es el mundo que ha creado la autora. Como existe la gente con poderes, unos que hacen el bien y otros que hacen el mal, supuestamente. Pero como se va viendo que no es 100% real, ya que como en la vida real, hay personas malvadas en todos los lugares.
Y sí, sigo amando como escribe Marissa Meyer. Escribe MUY BONITO y hay escenas preciosas, eso no lo puedo negar. También me encantan sus escenas de acción, haces que estés con el corazón en la boca de los nervios. Estoy enamorada de su manera de escribir y seguiré leyendo sus libros a pesar de esta pedazo de decepción.
Durante las primeras 200 páginas debo decir que estuve bastante intrigada por cierta cosa que pasa al principio y que llevó a Nova a una situación bastante dura y frustante, pero debo decir que fue lo único que me mantuvo inquieta e intrigada durante la historia. No puedo decir que la trama fuera predecible, sin duda no lo fue, pero eso no significa que piense que fue el mejor final que se le podía dar. Es como que sentí que toda la trama gira alrededor de Nova y Adrian durante tres libros, para que el final, el cierre de todo, no sea debido a algo que hacen ambos, sino que influye otra persona. Es que no me puedo creer eso. Todavía me pongo nervioso y me enervo de pensarlo. Es que muchas de estas cosas no tienen nada de coherencia después del camino recorrido durante tres libros. Pero en fin, es lo que hay, supongo...
No he disfrutado de este final como esperaba, eso sin duda. Pero estoy intentando quedarme con los momentos buenos, como el plot twist sobre Ace, que sin duda es un villano increíble y en este libro lo deja muy claro, los momentos entre Adrian y Nova (aunque cierto que en esta novela se me han quedado bastante fríos hasta casi el final), y bueno, EL EPÍLOGO. Aún no sé si me gusta o me aterra lo que he leído. ¿QUÉ ME ESTÁS CONTANDO, MARISSA? Creo que esto podría haber sido una trama que hubiera mejorado este libro un montón y me lo pones en un epílogo (el cual necesitaba que fuera sobre Nova y Adrian, no de esto). No sé si lo has hecho para sorprender al lector, cosa que obviamente consigues, o porque tienes intenciones de continuar la historia con ese personaje, cosa que me gusta pero no xD No sé explicarlo de otra manera. Os juro que grité porque era en plan DIOS MÍO NO ENTIENDO NADA, QUÉ ESTÁ PASANDO y de repente te da una buena leche y te quedas OMFG. Ahora muchas cosas tienen sentido. Sigo muerta.
Ha sido entretenido, pero esperaba MUCHÍSIMO MÁS, vaya.

Después de haber leído Las crónicas lunares (que amé cada libro), de leer Sin corazón (maravilloso también) y los dos anteriores libros de esta trilogía con la que quedé totalmente encantada, me encuentro con "este final" y aún no me creo que la autora nos haya dado esto. Lo pienso y me parece surrealista.
No os puedo contar mucho con detalles de la trama, pero digamos que estamos llegando a un punto donde los personajes están a punto de descubrir quién es cada uno y el juego que está realizando en esta lucha de Renegados contra Anarquistas. Y fue en esos momentos cuando Adrian me decepcionó enormente como personaje y jamás le llegué a perdonar. Su actitud fue surrealista y no me encajaba con su personalidad y evolución. Y obviamente, no me gusta nada como salvan este asunto en la novela.
Las dos anteriores novelas me encantaron, pero la primera tenía un aire introductorio y la segunda un aire de transición tremendos, por lo que esperaba que aquí hubiera una gran historia, una gran pelea (a ver, que las hay, pero se quedaron insuficientes), una gran trama llena de giros inesperados, más emoción, más amor, más sentimientos, no sé, MÁS TODO. Durante toda la lectura tuve un sabor muy agridulce, como si estuviera leyendo un libro que no parecía un final de saga, sin momentos épicos y memorables.
Algo que adoraba de las anteriores novelas era toda la variedad de personajes, sus personalidades y la evolución que estaban teniendo. En esta historia, muchas de las personalidades de los personajes se han cambiado de un día para otro para el bien de la historia y eso no me ha gustado en absoluto. He sentido que no ha sabido potenciar a Nova, la maldita protagonista, y en esta novela hace poco o nada para la trama. De verdad, que tiene dos escenas decentes llegando al final y ya. Y eso me ha dolido hasta el infinito porque era un personaje increíble, fuerte y con unos pensamientos muy claros. Lo de Adrian ya os lo mencioné antes, su comportamiento me decepcionó hasta el infinito.
Algo que sí me ha seguido gustando es el mundo que ha creado la autora. Como existe la gente con poderes, unos que hacen el bien y otros que hacen el mal, supuestamente. Pero como se va viendo que no es 100% real, ya que como en la vida real, hay personas malvadas en todos los lugares.
Y sí, sigo amando como escribe Marissa Meyer. Escribe MUY BONITO y hay escenas preciosas, eso no lo puedo negar. También me encantan sus escenas de acción, haces que estés con el corazón en la boca de los nervios. Estoy enamorada de su manera de escribir y seguiré leyendo sus libros a pesar de esta pedazo de decepción.
Durante las primeras 200 páginas debo decir que estuve bastante intrigada por cierta cosa que pasa al principio y que llevó a Nova a una situación bastante dura y frustante, pero debo decir que fue lo único que me mantuvo inquieta e intrigada durante la historia. No puedo decir que la trama fuera predecible, sin duda no lo fue, pero eso no significa que piense que fue el mejor final que se le podía dar. Es como que sentí que toda la trama gira alrededor de Nova y Adrian durante tres libros, para que el final, el cierre de todo, no sea debido a algo que hacen ambos, sino que influye otra persona. Es que no me puedo creer eso. Todavía me pongo nervioso y me enervo de pensarlo. Es que muchas de estas cosas no tienen nada de coherencia después del camino recorrido durante tres libros. Pero en fin, es lo que hay, supongo...
No he disfrutado de este final como esperaba, eso sin duda. Pero estoy intentando quedarme con los momentos buenos, como el plot twist sobre Ace, que sin duda es un villano increíble y en este libro lo deja muy claro, los momentos entre Adrian y Nova (aunque cierto que en esta novela se me han quedado bastante fríos hasta casi el final), y bueno, EL EPÍLOGO. Aún no sé si me gusta o me aterra lo que he leído. ¿QUÉ ME ESTÁS CONTANDO, MARISSA? Creo que esto podría haber sido una trama que hubiera mejorado este libro un montón y me lo pones en un epílogo (el cual necesitaba que fuera sobre Nova y Adrian, no de esto). No sé si lo has hecho para sorprender al lector, cosa que obviamente consigues, o porque tienes intenciones de continuar la historia con ese personaje, cosa que me gusta pero no xD No sé explicarlo de otra manera. Os juro que grité porque era en plan DIOS MÍO NO ENTIENDO NADA, QUÉ ESTÁ PASANDO y de repente te da una buena leche y te quedas OMFG. Ahora muchas cosas tienen sentido. Sigo muerta.
Ha sido entretenido, pero esperaba MUCHÍSIMO MÁS, vaya.

finished reading the epilogue, and imma be like...
am i the only one who was blind to all the clues??
im not disappointed, but i also am not feeling like "holy smokes, this is the greatest most epic conclusion in all history of superhero books." actually, i think this whole book was a joke. only im not laughing bcs i'd been waiting for a particular spectacular sensation that i expected to come with this book but ultimately it never did.
from the arrest, the decoy, the reveal of adrian and nova's alter egos, agent n, the helmet, ace anarchy, to the supernova and the plot twists. all of it couldve been a shocking 'dun, dun, dun' moment. instead i barely even felt any jolt of surprise. what's more baffling to me is how everything unfolded in the last battle.
nonetheless, im glad this is finally over. i remember how entranced i was by the first book and i truly loved these characters. i appreciate how much character development they've had in this book. i dont have the heart to reprimand them harshly. so let's just settle for sated. this is neither a horrible nor glorious end. i accept it regardless.

this was by far my favorite of the trilogy. there were just so many twists and turns and i just love marissa meyer’s writing and her characters (looking at you max & winston 🫶) and i enjoyed this series sm 🤌
if i had to sum this book up I’d say this quote does it well-

this book especially really has you questioning what side you’re on and it’s so complex and the world is so well built. i was not ready for some of those deaths and plot twists and also the epilogue?? doesn’t count marissa that just makes me want a spin-off series or something because was that really an ending? i think not. i felt so fulfilled and then bam the epilogue happened 🤧
no but seriously i love adrian and nova so much and i’m just so happy i read this series. this was easily 5 stars and i actually flew through those last 200 pages. can’t wait to read more of marissa meyer’s work besides this and the lunar chronicles 🤍✨

I am so sad this series has come to an end. Supernova was an incredible, tense and heartbreaking conclusion to the Renegades trilogy. SO MANY TWISTS! My anxiety levels were insane.
Nova and Adrian had me going crazy for majority of this book and had me crying of frustration!
Certain actions Adrian made, made me questioning my love for him and he desperately needed to redeem himself. BUT THEN NOVA DID A THING AND MY FRUSTRATION SWITCHED TO HER.
But I still love them so much and I needed way more of them and their cuteness!

Lydia: Yes, yes, thank you, but I really should be packing for a camp I'm going to tomorrow so let's speed this up.
Interviewer: Of course! [checks notes] So, this book seems to have had a very big impact on you!
Lydia: That's an understatement. [gestures to shadows under her eyes] This series ripped my heart out, beat it up, but in in a blender, then hot glued it back together and stuck in back into my chest.
Interviewer: Oh.... my.
Lydia: A-AND NOW I'VE LOST MY BEST FRIENDS.
Interviewer: [looks around at the cameramen confusedly] Oh... um, I'm sorry for your loss.
Lydia: No, bestie, I mean the characters.
Interviewer: Aha. Well. How did you lose them? Did they die in the end?
Lydia: [resists the urge to beat him over the head with Supernova] No, dear, but the series is over! I can't continue my journey with them! I can't laugh and cry and gasp with them! I'm broken! I'm done!
Interviewer: Well... can't you just reread it?
Lydia: WHAT. ARE YOU SERIOUS?
Interviewer: ...Yes?
Lydia: ARE YOU EVEN A BOOKWORM? ARE YOU ELIGIBLE TO BE INTERVIEWING ME RIGHT NOW?? IT'S.NOT.THE.SAME TO REREAD IT!!! [breaks down]

Lydia: Ahem. Sorry. Anyway. Back to the book.
Interviewer: Yes, definitely.
Lydia: The ending isn't exactly.... sad. It's more like... terrifyi- wait a minute, hold on. [messes with her airpods for an awkward 10 seconds] Sorry, um, anyway, the ending is terrifying. It punches you in the lungs. It's like the worst jump scare ever, like Marissa Meyer had a cameraman waiting to capture your reaction and make it go viral on tiktok.
Interviewer: Oh, do tell, do tell!
Lydia: I can't say any specifics, since this a spoiler-free interview [gestures to contract she signed] but I can say that it's definitely not an ending. There's totally going to be a spinoff series. Which is the worst part.
Interviewer: Didn't you say you wanted more time with the characters? You seem like you should be super excited that your journey with them isn't over!
Lydia: No, honey, I didn't say I wanted more time with the characters, I said I lost them and I'm sad it's over. BUT. They had grabbed me and handcuffed me and stuck me on this rollercoaster of a series and honestly, I wanted to be free again, no matter how amazing of a ride it was. And though the rollercoaster ride is over, I can already see another one on the horizon, an even more dangerous one. One that gives giving Marissa Meyer more time to throw me and the characters off of it.
Interviewer: This is a lot of rollercoaster talk.
Lydia: Does it make sense?
Interviewer: Totally! I completely get what you're saying!
Lydia: Uh huh.
Interviewer: [checks notes] So, what were your favorite parts about this, um, rOlLeRcOaStEr [winks]
Lydia: Hah. Um, I think my favorite part is the character's relationship dynamics.
Interviewer: Like, the romance?
Lydia: Yes, the romance is amazing, but also the platonic friendships. One of my favorite things in any book is conflicting friendship dynamics in a friend group/gang/team/fellowship, and you totally get that here. Nova's friendships with Oscar and Ruby and Danna and her Anarchists are adorable. Oh, and the side romance between Oscar and Ruby! I cried of happiness! The characters were so real and alive and well fleshed out, and their friendships felt so real. I love 'em.
Interviewer: Mm. Friendships are great. But you said you also did like the romance?
Lydia: You know it, bestie. It gave me butterflies and had me screaming and crying. The longing and angst and tension revolving around their secret identities is top notch. You want a romance that will break you, yet mend you? Look no further than this series. It's like kissing in the middle of a windstorm, never knowing what moment could be your last.
Interviewer: I can't tell by what you're saying if they got a happy ending!
Lydia: Again, no spoilers, but I will say their love for each other could break down walls yet rebuild them to be stronger and taller and better. It sweeps around you like golden pixie dust and everything it touches is permanently changed, but maybe for the better.
Interviewer: Love that! [looks down at notes] So, aside from the quote-on-quote terrifying ending, and awesome characters, friendships, and romance, there's also the matter of the plot. I've heard people say that they though the plot was kind of slow but this one seems to be more action-packed than the others! What were your thoughts?
Lydia: Oh, darlin', it was a high-stakes, breathless adventure. It's heart was beating faster around every turn until the end it beat like it just ran a marathon. There are several climaxes, I thought to myself, but they're also kind of connected. Basically, the climax starts in the middle of the book and with pauses and recollections and twists and conversations and action, it stretches on through several hundred pages right into the epilogue.
Interviewer: Sounds exciting!
Lydia: It had me hooked. I flew through it like I was a piece of dust propelled by a ceiling fan.
Interviewer: You seem to have really loved this book! Aside from the ending, of course.
Lydia: I am super conflicted, but I did love it. It's a dirty, messy, maybe even toxic love, but I loved it all the same.
Interviewer: That's awesome! [Checks notes] So, would you recommend this at the end of the day?
Lydia: If you like rollercoaster rides, thrillers, superheroes, star-crossed romance, and you aren't extremely attached to your heart.... I will BUY YOU THIS SERIES IF THAT MEANS YOU'LL READ IT. Except, I'm broke, so I won't.
Interviewer: Awesome! I think that's a wrap! Anything last words?
Lydia: Well I- Wait. Did you say "any last words"?
Interviewer: Um, yes?
Lydia: That sounds ominous. Are you about to betray me?

Lydia: I can't say any specifics, since this a spoiler-free interview [gestures to contract she signed] but I can say that it's definitely not an ending. There's totally going to be a spinoff series. Which is the worst part.
Interviewer: Didn't you say you wanted more time with the characters? You seem like you should be super excited that your journey with them isn't over!
Lydia: No, honey, I didn't say I wanted more time with the characters, I said I lost them and I'm sad it's over. BUT. They had grabbed me and handcuffed me and stuck me on this rollercoaster of a series and honestly, I wanted to be free again, no matter how amazing of a ride it was. And though the rollercoaster ride is over, I can already see another one on the horizon, an even more dangerous one. One that gives giving Marissa Meyer more time to throw me and the characters off of it.
Interviewer: This is a lot of rollercoaster talk.
Lydia: Does it make sense?
Interviewer: Totally! I completely get what you're saying!
Lydia: Uh huh.
Interviewer: [checks notes] So, what were your favorite parts about this, um, rOlLeRcOaStEr [winks]
Lydia: Hah. Um, I think my favorite part is the character's relationship dynamics.
Interviewer: Like, the romance?
Lydia: Yes, the romance is amazing, but also the platonic friendships. One of my favorite things in any book is conflicting friendship dynamics in a friend group/gang/team/fellowship, and you totally get that here. Nova's friendships with Oscar and Ruby and Danna and her Anarchists are adorable. Oh, and the side romance between Oscar and Ruby! I cried of happiness! The characters were so real and alive and well fleshed out, and their friendships felt so real. I love 'em.
Interviewer: Mm. Friendships are great. But you said you also did like the romance?
Lydia: You know it, bestie. It gave me butterflies and had me screaming and crying. The longing and angst and tension revolving around their secret identities is top notch. You want a romance that will break you, yet mend you? Look no further than this series. It's like kissing in the middle of a windstorm, never knowing what moment could be your last.
Interviewer: I can't tell by what you're saying if they got a happy ending!
Lydia: Again, no spoilers, but I will say their love for each other could break down walls yet rebuild them to be stronger and taller and better. It sweeps around you like golden pixie dust and everything it touches is permanently changed, but maybe for the better.
Interviewer: Love that! [looks down at notes] So, aside from the quote-on-quote terrifying ending, and awesome characters, friendships, and romance, there's also the matter of the plot. I've heard people say that they though the plot was kind of slow but this one seems to be more action-packed than the others! What were your thoughts?
Lydia: Oh, darlin', it was a high-stakes, breathless adventure. It's heart was beating faster around every turn until the end it beat like it just ran a marathon. There are several climaxes, I thought to myself, but they're also kind of connected. Basically, the climax starts in the middle of the book and with pauses and recollections and twists and conversations and action, it stretches on through several hundred pages right into the epilogue.
Interviewer: Sounds exciting!
Lydia: It had me hooked. I flew through it like I was a piece of dust propelled by a ceiling fan.
Interviewer: You seem to have really loved this book! Aside from the ending, of course.
Lydia: I am super conflicted, but I did love it. It's a dirty, messy, maybe even toxic love, but I loved it all the same.
Interviewer: That's awesome! [Checks notes] So, would you recommend this at the end of the day?
Lydia: If you like rollercoaster rides, thrillers, superheroes, star-crossed romance, and you aren't extremely attached to your heart.... I will BUY YOU THIS SERIES IF THAT MEANS YOU'LL READ IT. Except, I'm broke, so I won't.

I think this is my first two star review. I usually only review books that I love as authors have enough bad reviews to deal with and I don't want to add more. And this isn't a bad review...not really. It's a wish that the series had a stronger, more engaging, satisfying ending. And it also may be due to the fact that I'm a writer and a teacher of writing - I saw SO MUCH potential here - and the possibility of huge emotional scenes that were set up perfectly and just didn't occur. Perhaps Meyer ran out of pages - although a good editor could have helped with that (see my comments in the spoiler).
The series is wonderful because of the characters and world. Meyer does a great job of making the readers love both main protagonists and hope they both win, which, considering they are archenemies is a hard thing to pull it off. So kudos to her for doing that! Five stars for the characters! Five stars for the richly detailed world.

I'm reading this book while in the hospital getting treatment for pneumonia. The cough is keeping me up so I might as well enjoy the actions and adventures of Nova and her villains. I'm liking this book a lot more. I like how quick the villains think. They speak so little and let silence stretches on but they all come to the same conclusion that time is running out and they need to act fast. I like their teamwork, how different they are but they work well together. Honey's humor is always a plus even if it brings scowls out of Nova. I love the butterflies - Danna and how she knows who the spy is but couldn't get her triumphant moment but still swarm over with her multiple numbers of butterflies. I like Adrian's puzzle solving of Nightmare and his conclusion. I like Oscar's grand guestures for professing his love no matter how hopeless it seems. He sure goes above and beyond. I enjoy Nova and the adrenaline rush surrounding her double life and fear of lies unraveling.
This book is told in the third person point of view following Nova. Nova has just completed her mission from book 2, but not everything goes according to plans and so she's back at headquarters doing her spy job as a Renegade. No sooner then she received a threatening message at her home blackmailing for her identity to turning in Ace's helmet. When Nova's secret of being a spy revealed, she found herself going to prison where her uncle and top villains Ace's has been. The alternating view is Adrian, who could draw anything into reality, is living a secret double life of his own. Adrian is the adopted son of the famous Renegades dads. His desperation to find Nightmare is ever increasing. At first he wanted to find her to learn about his mom's death but now he wanted to find her to kill her because he believed she meant to kill his half brother Max. The adventures moved on to rescuing Ace at his execution.
Supernova is very well written and a fast paced read. I loved the attack on the Renegades with the bees and the rescue of Ace. Pretty cool scene. I like Queen Bee's power over all of the stingers. They sure can do some damages. Phobia is scary, a definite character for the villains. I like his mystery. I love the battle with Ace the Anarchist. The love story is mostly innocent with few kisses the entire series so it's readable for any readers middle grade and young adults. Overall, I enjoyed the series and recommend everyone to read Renegade series.

Supernova is a decent ending to the newest series from Marissa Meyer. I enjoyed the journey with all the characters and her interesting spin on the super hero genre.
I did not enjoy it quite as much as The Lunar Chronicles, but I would not take that to heart to much. It was a very tough task to follow up after that series and I think she did just about as good as she possibly could. I am sure that fans of that series will also find a lot to like here.
If you have not tried Marissa Meyer before but you like any combination of the following, I am pretty sure you should go ahead and start reading her books right now:
• Young Adult Novels
• Science Fiction
• Superheroes
• Cheesy Love Stories (usually between an odd couple)

⊹₊ my thoughts ⟡⋆
the first 100 pages felt really repetitive. nothing new happened, it was the same drama and conversation from archenemies. this part shouldn't even exist in the first place, if you ask me. it could be cut out and trust me, it wouldn't change a single thing. thankfully, the story picked up the very moment Danna exposed Nova, from that moment on everything became so much more interesting! sometimes, it was so calm, so just things could escalate really quickly a few minutes later. the second half of this book was so action packed that it was literally impossible to put it down. moreover, the book was not only action packed but also death packed. so many people died. Marissa Meyer made us like Winston, so just she could kill him off a few scenes later. why does this always happen in books? and also Callum? WHY?! the epilogue made me so confused. I thought that I had skipped some chapters or something because I didn't know what was going on for some time. but if you think about it, it makes sense now why Magpie was so obssesed with Nova's bracelet. nevertheless, how dare Marissa leave us like that? it should be illegal. I want more. I need more. all in all, this one was slightly worse than the previous two books, but still a good one. but overall, I enjoyed it and I think it was a pretty good conclusion to the renegedes series.

ᡣ𐭩.ᐟ Nova– ahh, I would lie if I said she didn't annoy me. I think at some point I just grew tired of her lies? she simply became insufferable and so exasperating. it pains me to say it because she was a really likeable character in book one and two. however, it took Nova some time to come to her senses, but she did, eventually. she understood that Ace's vision wasn't hers, and neither what he wanted was what she wanted the world to be like. I, actually, felt proud of her when she stood up for what she believed in, and told others about her vision.
ᡣ𐭩.ᐟ Adrian is the most innocent soul in the world. he's the softest boy to ever exist. Adrian's so pure. he's way too good for this world. he always tries to see good in people which others sometimes take advantage of. I loved how he was fighting for what he believed in. this boy would do literally everything for his loved ones. he went through so much at such a a young age, his struggles made me want to give him a huge hug. 🫂🥹 I felt so bad for him throughout the entire book, he deserved so much better.
ᡣ𐭩.ᐟ Ruby and Oscar are definitely my favorite couple!! I love them sooo much, these two are so precious 🥹❤️🩹 we got to see a little more of them, and when they finally happened, I was over the moon. they made my heart so full.
ᡣ𐭩.ᐟNova and Adrian – look, i love them too. but you can't build a relationship on lies, and I just didn't like how Nova kept lying to him all the time, it made me so frustrated. and she still had the audacity to get mad at him because he didn't tell her about the sentinel. it wasn't like she was fully honest with him either. nevertheless, when there were no lies between them anymore, and they came clear about who they really were and them just being their true selves, and accepting it, made my heart so full! they deserved their happy end.

Adrian and Max's bond was so beautifully written. they're maybe not brothers by blood, but brothers by choice. some of their scenes were truly hilarious. it was so great to see Adrian confide in Max when he still didn't work up the courage to tell others about him being the sentinel. I loved how Adrian didn't want Max back in quarantine, but was trying to find another solution, so just he could give Max the most normal teen life he could.

I'm so sad that this series has finally come to an end 🥺🥺 It feels like these characters have been part of my life for such a long time, and I would be lying if I said I haven't been procrastinating writing the review, bc that means it would officially be over 🤧🫂 But lowkey after that epilogue, maybe it's not the end after all (not me trying to make something out of nothing 🤦♀️🤦♀️) Anyways, let's get into my thoughts 🤭🤭

Wow this was a rollercoaster 😳😳 Ngl the first 100 pages were so slow, and honestly just felt like a copy and paste of the first 100 pages of the second book 😕😕, but once we got to the 200-page mark was when things really started picking up 🤭🤭 It feels so bittersweet to have finally finished this series, but I wouldn't trade it for the world, as this series will always have such a special place in my heart 🥹🥰 However, I do have to admit, that Supernova was by far my least favourite in the series by far, and it lowkey felt like the first half was written by a different author, then Marrisa Meyer panicked and tried to add what should have been the entire plot of the book into the last 200 pages 🥲🥲 Overall, I still love love love this series, I just don't know if I would necessarily say it was up to the standard of the rest of the series 🥺🥺

❥ Nova: Ok so wow that was a lot 😳😳 I don't think I have ever felt so conflicted about a character before 🙈🙈 I think I have to stop lying to myself and accept that I didn't like Nova's character in this book, and that she did really annoy me 😭😭 I kept trying to justify everything that she was doing bc of how much I liked her in book 1 & 2, but somewhere along the way, I just stopped trying 😓😓 However, in saying that, towards the end when she realised that what was happening wasn't right and stood up for what she believed in, I was so proud 🥹🥰, and began really liking her again, hence why I feel so conflicted 🫤🫤
❥ Adrian: ADRIAN THEY COULD NEVER MAKE ME HATE YOU 🤧🫂 He deserved so much better 😖😖 He is such a precious cinnamon roll, he is to pure for the world he lives in 😭😭 He went through so much at such a young age, yet he doesn't use his own trauma as an excuse, but instead tries to help prevent more people going through what he had to 🥺🥺 He is literally the definition of the glass half full, and always tries to see the best in people 🥹🥰 Sure, he might let his heart overpower his head in some situations, but that's what makes him so real and precious 😙😙 I literally felt giddy every time we got up to one of his chapters 🤭🤭
❥ The Renegades: Honestly, I really liked most of the Renegades in this book!! As always, I love love loved Ruby and Oscar sm, both together and apart 🥹🥰 They are such loyal friends to Adrian, yet they have minds of their own and are not afraid to stand up for what they believe in too. In the first two books I had very mixed feelings on Danna, but it's safe to say that she has officially grown on me 🥳🥳 I felt so bad for her having to be trapped in butterfly form for so long, with no way to communicate 🥺🥹 There were other Renegades that I liked as well, such as Adrian's dads, Callum and Snapshot, but other than that, there were no other characters who particularly stood out to me 🫤🫤 However, in saying that, I absolutely loved Max, he was definitely one of my fav characters 🤭🤭 He has been through so much at such a young age, and for that, I want to give him such a big hug 🫂🫂 But he was so strong, and ngl I really admire him 🫶🫶 (wow Ashleigh, admiring a ten year old, that's new 😂😂)
❥ The Anarchists: Ok so I now have very mixed feelings about all of them. In the first few books I love love loved Honey so much, but why did she absolutely infuriate me in this one 😤😤 I've always wanted to know more about Phobia, but now I know, why do I lowkey wish I didn't 🙈🙈 His story was so creepy and gave me the chills ngl 😓😓 Leroy was amazing as always (thankfully), and I love how much of a father figure he is to Nova 🥹🥰 Winsten, oh Winsten, why did this make me like you I think that was all of the Anarchists, but please forgive me if there were more that I forgot about, I read this book a long time ago 🫣🫣 (oh and in case you were wondering, I didn't include a certain someone bc of spoiler reasons 🫶🫶 iykyk)
⁀➷ 𝓡𝓸𝓶𝓪𝓷𝓬𝓮
❥ Nova + Adrian: Don't get me wrong, I loveee them so much, but at some point I realised that what they had wasn't a healthy relationship, and as Dove Cameron once said 🎶"But a stack of lies is not a firm foundation, you cannot build a castle on a mountain made of sand."🎶 🥲🥲 If I am being completely honest, they have never been able to tell each other the truth from day one, but for some reason it annoyed me far more in this one, than it did in the rest of the series 🫤🫤 What really made me mad was how Nova reacted when she found out that Adrian had secrets of his own, and how got mad at him, when imo she was holding back far more than he was 😤😤 But yet again, I am so happy that they were able to be truthful with each other by the end, and that they did get the happy ending 🥰🥰
❥ Ruby + Oscar: YAYYY THEY FINALLY GOT TOGETHER!! 🥳🥳 Ngl I was starting to lose hope, and was wondering if they were ever got together, but when they finally did, the wait was 100% worth it 🤭🤭 They were just so cute and fluffy, and they always knew how to lighten the mood, and exactly when to act goofy and when to act serious and professional. All of the little acts of service they did for each other (especially Oscar) own my heart 🥹🥰 I do lowkey wish we got to spent fractionally more time with them being together, but I can't complain with what we got 🫠🫠

No creo que haga falta decir que, como es la reseña de una tercera parte, puede contener pequeños spoilers de las entregas anteriores. No pongo la opción de spoilers que ofrece GR porque me dijeron que falla en la web, así que mejor esta advertencia escrita.

No es que no me haya gustado, sino que no puedo ignorar los fallos cuando estos son tan evidentes; y que conste que cuando se trata de libros escritos por y para entretenimiento, no acostumbro ponerme exigente, pero es como si Marissa Meyer hubiera tomado todos los clichés de los libros juveniles y de los cómics de superhéroes y los hubiera embutido en Renegades sin importarle si tenían lógica o no.
Para empezar, ¿cómo es que Nova sabe hacer todo bien? Entiendo que sepa de tecnología, su padre era un tipo que construía artefactos y ella creció admirándolo, tiene todo el sentido del mundo que quisiera seguir sus pasos, pero en ningún momento se nos dice cómo aprendió combate cuerpo a cuerpo cuando es obvio que ninguno de sus aliados, con quienes se crió, sabe hacerlo. No es que quisiera una historia de trasfondo súper elaborada respecto a ello, pero sí al menos una mención, algo como «pasé años entrenando con X para esto», pero no, todo indica que Nova puede hacer lo que quiera porque es la protagonista y ya.
Luego está el hecho de que sus creencias se contradicen a sí mismas. Nova odia a los héroes, sobre todo al Capitán, porque no estuvieron presentes cuando su familia fue asesinada pese a que prometieron estarlo, vale, pero también lucha por la individualidad de las personas y se enoja de que haya gente que no sepa defenderse por sí misma porque, según ella, todos deberían saber hacerlo (?
Y Adrian no se salva de las incoherencias. Que sí, se nos repite una y otra vez que Adrian no es el líder de su equipo solo por ser el hijo adoptivo del Capitán y su marido, que se lo ha ganado y bla bla, pero NO se nos demuestra su capacidad de liderazgo en ningún momento. Adrian abandona a su equipo en cada misión, los arrastra hacia peligros innecesarios en contra de las órdenes de los superiores Y CASI MATA A UNA DE SUS COMPAÑERAS PORQUE QUERÍA LLEVARSE TODO EL MÉRITO EN ATRAPAR A PESADILLA. Sin mencionar que sus poderes son los que menos sentido tienen y no me gustó que resultaran tan convenientes para la trama, como cuando dibuja el sueño de Nova. Wtf. Si Nova hace todo bien, este niño lo hace todo mal y aún así es el líder de su equipo. Pobres de sus compañeros.
Y vayamos por la estupidez más grande de todas: ¿por qué a nadie se le ocurrió decirle a Nova acerca de que todavía hay un miembro de su familia con vida? ¿Les pareció que era una noticia que podía esperar a después del maldito desfile?
Epílogo de mierda. Solo fue escrito para que existiera la posibilidad de un spin-off que sí, muy probablemente lea.
Y, bueno, ahora mencionaré cosas que no son tan graves, pero que igual me hicieron ruido: 1) odio que los libros juveniles tengan esa extraña obsesión con conseguirle un interés amoroso a todos los personajes 2) yo ya veía venir lo de los padres de Nova desde que leí la sinopsis del primer libro y no me gustó que fuera tan obvio 3) me hubiera gustado más drama, alguna perdida que de verdad doliera.
Pero no todo ha resultado mal, también hay cosas que me gustaron. Me gustó que la autora escribiera una trilogía sobre lo malo que es aferrarse tanto a tus ideologías, al punto de querer que todos se sometan a lo que tu crees correcto sin permitir que decidan por sí mismos. Hace falta leer este tipo de libros, sobre todo ahora, porque si bien yo soy muy partidaria del movimiento "progre", no me gusta la cultura de la cancelación. Y Nova, pese a lo obvio que resulta ver que es una Mary Sue, me cayó muy bien, la verdad, es el tipo de protagonista juvenil que me gustaría encontrarme más a menudo (lo digo por su personalidad, no por sus habilidades). Adrian y los secundarios también me cayeron bien, todos son simpáticos y poco problemáticos.
En resumen, me entretuvo, pero no creo que sea un buen libro en cuanto a calidad se refiere. Tiene demasiados huecos argumentales.

THIS HAS BEEN THE MOST INTENSE DAY OF READING I'VE HAD ALL YEAR.
WHAT A RUSH.
Where do I even start?
Obviously I loved it. The first two books set things up so well, so there were plenty of questions and theories waiting for answers and confrontations waiting to happen.
WARNING: This review contains spoilers for the first two books in the series.
Firstly, I was really glad this book contained gentle reminders of what happened in the last book(s) because it meant I didn't have to waste time trying to remember the important things. Sometimes you waste a couple chapters trying to get back into the flow of a story you haven't read in a year or so and it can be frustrating, whereas this throws you back in with all the important tidbits to make sure you're up to speed.
Then the action comes and it doesn't stop coming.
Nova is so badass, and she's determined to do what she thinks is right, no matter how many moral lines she has to cross. Poor, duped Adrian. She loves the guy, but she's still messing with that pretty head of his. Bless his determination to believe the best of everyone.
I really don't like Danna, and I wish there was more animosity between her and Nova but they're so damn forgiving. Blegh. But at least there is the nastiness between Nova and Magpie and that really makes my heart soar. It's a dynamic that was unexpected but I've grown to love it over these three books. Ruby and Oscar are adorable and funny and help lighten the mood when things are getting too serious. Ruby's brothers are a manic energy I can really get behind. Max is chill, and his childlike mind creates a strange balance to this world of violence.
When the Nightmare reveal came it was not nearly as dramatic as I was expecting, considering it's been building for two books. Everyone handled it much better than I thought they would. The council were douchebags, of course, but that's to be expected. Massive egos on that bunch of weirdos.
There were also some really interesting answers to burning questions and I am happy to finally have closure. It was a fun journey to kinda experience the unfolding of all the secrets and lies, particularly since it was peppered through all the action. There were no annoying walls of explanations or long-winded speeches. Everything was revealed so naturally.
This book is also an adventure in its own right. There are more barriers to overcome and Nova and Adrian both have a few things they need to work out about how they see the world. That's something I've really enjoyed over the course of this series - the heroes vs the villains and all of the grey in between. Right and wrong and who decides what that is. What makes people special, what makes a hero. Big questions with no clear answers.
The drama got pretty intense and there was a lot that I was definitely not expecting that tugged my heart a bit! It was such a fun romp that I wasn't expecting to feel so much. Why you make me get all attached, Marissa Meyer?
But fear not - there is still a ton of action with explosions, fight scenes, chases, etc so you will definitely not get bored or waste too much time sitting around contemplating your feelings.
A worthy conclusion to the series, but one that definitely leaves it open for a spin-off, which I 1000% support. Bring me those dastardly villains and their plots any time.

WHAT A RUSH.
Where do I even start?
Obviously I loved it. The first two books set things up so well, so there were plenty of questions and theories waiting for answers and confrontations waiting to happen.
WARNING: This review contains spoilers for the first two books in the series.
Firstly, I was really glad this book contained gentle reminders of what happened in the last book(s) because it meant I didn't have to waste time trying to remember the important things. Sometimes you waste a couple chapters trying to get back into the flow of a story you haven't read in a year or so and it can be frustrating, whereas this throws you back in with all the important tidbits to make sure you're up to speed.
Then the action comes and it doesn't stop coming.
Nova is so badass, and she's determined to do what she thinks is right, no matter how many moral lines she has to cross. Poor, duped Adrian. She loves the guy, but she's still messing with that pretty head of his. Bless his determination to believe the best of everyone.
I really don't like Danna, and I wish there was more animosity between her and Nova but they're so damn forgiving. Blegh. Imagine the renegades books adapted into films?? Yes. A blockbuster, action packed superhero film would be an awesome film. Definitely would watch.
Renegades synopsis: Galton city is invested with both good and evil. We have our renegades who are a council of superheroes fighting evil in their city, protecting the city. Then we have our anarchists, the villians that cause conflict and harm to the city. Nova artino is an anarchist and dispises the renegades, since they weren't there to protect her family when they died. She joins the renegades as undercover spy, to take them down from the inside.
I thoroughly enjoyed the conclusion to the renegades trilogy. It ended smoothly and satisfyingly. The plot went in a direction I didn't expect which was amusing to read about. The twists and turns were unexpecting and I loved the thrill of it. I enjoyed the action and build-up towards the ending of the book, the battle/fight scene was delightful and captivating. I was never a huge fan of Nova and Adrian's relationship, I like them both very much as individuals more than them together, but in this book, I've really grown attached to their relationship.
Wish we got more content from the side characters; Ruby, Donna, Oscar, Magpie and Max. Because after the ending of the book I really wanted to know about what they were up to or how they were doing. Magpie has been small but a valid character since book 1 and she was only mentioned once and that was when she was injured during a fight and then you never read about her or got any information regarding her character. Wanted to see some sort of relationship between Nova and Donna since of their estranged friendship, never got a clear understanding of them two as friends, only that Donna doesn't trust her because of what happened in book 2. Oscar and Ruby established a relationship, but it was just thrown into the storyline and wasn't necessary and didn't add anything to the plot.
All-around sad to say goodbye to these characters and story, but hoping we get some more content after that epilogue?!?!
I need to pick up her lunar chronicles series soon!
