An enlightening and thought provoking book written by one of the leading Islamic scholars of today. In this book the author defines the concepts and parameters of the Islamic Movement. He critically analyses the ideology and programme of the Islamic Movement and offers valuable advice and suggestions in establishing Islam in the post modern era.

Having read Milestones written by Sayyid Qutb before and thought that it didn't bode well with me, I'm glad that Dr Yusuf Al-Qaradawi had thought of the same. I also admired the fact the he had refuted the former's belief is in a very respectful manner, citing the conditions that the Egyptian rulers had on the Islamists at the time provoked them to adhere to a more extremist ideology of an Islamic Movement. While both have the same end in mind (i.e. to establish Islamic grounding all over the world, Dr. Yusuf's had put out a more thoughtful plan, one that is based on logic and diplomacy (one whole chapter was dedicated on dialogues : the target groups and how to properly engage with them). He also stressed that sometimes one evil has to be tolerated for the betterment of the whole community as it would prevent a bigger evil or calamity. One quote which I like, and which was mentioned a few times in the book, was "A wise man is not that who can tell good from evil, but it is that who can tell the better of two good things and the lesser of two evils". My only complain would be the fact ghat I read the first edition of the translated English copy and it was riddled with typos.

Menarik banget! Apalagi sejak jaman "dulu" (bahkan di masa Rasulullah) Islam sering dilecehkan. Buku ini bisa jadi semacam "panduan" untuk menyampaikan Islam dengan cara yang elegan, juga cerdas.
