No one expects lace in a laundry room to change their life.
At twenty-one, Flores Williams has a few things his (non-existent) friends don't: a police record, abusive parents, and a colorful hobby. But the worst thing about being independent? Breaking an expensive washing machine right before your ballet audition. Flores needs clothes, he needs a job, he needs a miracle.
As long as that miracle isn't Gareth Brown.
Ten years ago, Gareth lost his husband to a car accident. These days, he hangs around with his firefighting team, trying to fill the void in his heart. When his friend makes a request, Gareth agrees: Watch Tim Williams' son. Flores is a criminal, and Gareth thinks he can stop that boy from going back into jail.
But Gareth isn't prepared for Flores to call him Sir. Add to that the fact that Flores has never been kissed. And that Gareth increasingly wants Flores to be his boy. Gareth shouldn't—he's far older. He's promised Tim that he wouldn't get involved with Flores.
As fate drags them into a whirlpool of lace, sweet punishments, and an accidental pregnancy, will the growing fire between Flores and Gareth draw them closer, or will the demons from their pasts burn them to the ground?
Gareth's Boy is a 82,000-word standalone non-shifter age-difference MPreg romance, featuring a protective firefighter, hurt/comfort, and a broken soul who learns to smile again. HEA guaranteed! Warning: This book contains so much heat, it'll fog up your windows. Try to stay cool!!
3-3.5 stars for me. Unfortunately, this was not my favorite book in the Meadowfall-verse of stories from this author. It's like there were too many elements that I should enjoy but it became too much because there wasn't enough focus on one thing, that kept me from completely loving this story.
Flores is a young omega, trying to work as a dancer and who also is a street artist on the side. He has a criminal record of vandalism in his past, and his father, who is running for political office, wants to make sure that Flores doesn't mess up his chance at being elected. Gareth is a 40-year-old alpha. He has a son from his previous relationship, and has been alone ever since his omega was killed. Flores' father puts Gareth in charge of watching Flores and keeping an eye on him.
I honestly struggled a little bit with the 30-70% of the story - the middle bit. Things just kinda seemed all over the place. Flores was a dancer, but he was also an artist. He did street art, but also kinda didn't seem to spend a whole lot of time on that. He had dance lessons growing up, but his father threatened to break his legs. He loved lace and feminine things, but there also wasn't a whole lot of detail about that.
Gareth was super dominant, only his whole attitude towards Flores at the start and how wishy-washy he was when dealing with Flores' father didn't sit well with me. The "sir"/"boy" dynamic felt forced and awkward, and just not *them*. Honestly, their first sexual moment together felt kinda dub-con to me. I can't even explain it, but it just didn't work for me.
The author has definitely set up some future stories with characters in this book however - there's Ulric, the alpha who wants another alpha, there's the 2 step-brothers, and there's Gareth's son, who I could see getting a story, too. Looking forward to them all!
I don’t even really know how to rate Gareth’s boy, it had some really great parts and I really liked the sweet moments between Gareth and Flores.
However ultimately it was just very odd I can’t even really explain it but a few things which were strange for me are; Gareth’s son hardly being mentioned until pretty much the end of the book. Gareth one minute seeming to really care about the baby but then when he discovers that Flores went into Derek’s room seems to forget but then cares again when he interrupts the wedding. Lastly just the overall drastic mood changes that Gareth exhibits towards Flores it was just all over the place.

I thought that this book dragged a bit between 20% and 50%. There wasn't anything specific that I can say that I didn't like, it just felt like I kept reading forever, but when I'd cheek my progress, it ended up not being that much. But suddenly, after about half way through, the book just flew by, but not rushed.
There was one thing that, when I read it, I actually exclaimed WTF?! aloud, because it was so out of left field. I didn't recall a single instance of any omega wearing a full on wedding dress at any point in the previous books. If I remember right, there was something about a character randomly wearing a skirt, once, but why would Tim pay for something like that? And, while I can understand that omegas could be feminized, in this world, if there's going to be a wedding dress, why don't some omegas embrace it in their everyday life? Or, why didn't Tim push a feminized ideal into Flores this entire time?
It took me a while to not feel animosity against Gareth in this book. He was a bit naive to not see how absolutely horrible Tim was as a father, and I wasn't thrilled with his compromise after confronting Tim - it felt like he was willingly choosing to become complicit, which left a bad taste in my mouth (though I loved that karma came through anyway). What eventually conceived me that Gareth was a good guy, was his consistent encouragement and support of Flores. I loved that a line early in the book had Flores thinking that loving something was to set them free - and Gareth showed that he was willing to give Flores his wings over and over again - even to stupidly let Flores leave him. But I think that was exactly what Flores needed to understand that Gareth truly valued him.
Anna Wineheart has this whole love, sexy, angsty type story down really well. I love reading all of her books, and all the guys in Meadowfall truly have worked their ways into my heart. But, I think that there is something special about Gareth and Flores.
Flores is just so beautiful, talented, vulnerable, and broken. I really hate his parents, with a passion. I think some terrible things need to happen to them. What they did to poor Flores is just tragic. But, he has this whole beautiful soul and heart. He just shines so brightly. I'm not surprised that Gareth was so drawn to him. I would be more surprised if he weren't, just because of the Flores-ness of himself.
Gareth is a good man, even if he has some misconceptions at times. The fact is, that he learns from his misunderstandings and goes on to grow to become a better person. I do mostly like him, but there are times when he needs to be smacked around, just a little bit, because he has a cranio-rectal inversion. Aside from that, I still like him.
I loved their story, and I love their interactions and chemistry. I had all the feelz when I was reading this one, and I think Anna Wineheart did a stellar job on this.
A HIGHLY RECOMMENDED READ. If I could rate this story HIGHER, I would. I have never laughed so hard and almost cried over a book like this. My feelings for Flores started out on the negative side and grew into heartbreak when I found out what his life was like. I grieved along with Gareth for his lost mate. I laughed my head off over Caleb and his reckonings of life and nicknames for people. This book made my day. One that I recommend to readers who have open minds.
Flores and gareth💜💙 I loved these characters. It was quite an emotional story, Flores was just treated horribly and I really felt for him. This turnt the old emotions like a Tumblr dryer from sadness, anger, happiness. I would of loved to have had more from Gareth son but all in all its a well written book with great characters and a heartfelt story. I received this book by the author and this is my honest opinion
I loved Flores, but man did I not like Gareth. I also didn't buy their attraction to each other. Flores was basically still an abused child and Gareth was just there. I know he was married before and has a son the same age as the omega he knocked up but that's about it.
I wish Flower could have blossomed into his own before having to be preggo, he deserved happiness.
Nope, the dead ex was too much for me! It didn't sit well. Gareth was not as possessive as he should have been. I think I'll stick with the Meadow Street Brothers series
Overall, it's a good book with good story line: Gareth is still mourning for his lost omega despite years it happened and Flores is young and still trying to find his footing on the world.
I like how Gareth could love Derek and yet it doesn't reduce his for Flores. I like how Flores trying to do things in his own way, that failure doesn't have to stay that way.
Yet, some doesn't sit well with me, not because I dislike it per se, but more like it doesn't fit well with the rest of the world setup: - To be honest, I only read Meadowfall Firefighters (and it's said in the book that they could be read as standalone) so I haven't found any information on how alpha, omega & female works in this world yet... why does Flores wear that? Yes, I get many aspects of omega is similar with female (pregnancy for example) but what's the deal with ? I'm not saying man can't wear it, just I don't find any beforehand instance where Flores wears one similar before (or any other omega). - the ending of confrontation with Tim & Rosa, Flores's parents. It's just anti climatic: the whole story mentioned how badass dragon he was and in the end, it's just a worm. Meh. - the debt Gareth owned to Tim. Er, yeah, that's the reason why Gareth looked after Flores in the first place. The only thing that makes Gareth respect Tim. I get that how Tim treated his son eroded that respect yet the act is only mentioned once in passing, doesn't seem significant and doesn't align with Tim's character at all. - "snake" joke. It has been funny the first time and second. It's getting tiresome after it has been repeated several times.
So most of it has been good just some things are loose ends.
******* Spoiler Alert ****** A really wonderful story. Very erotic in many places! I liked the boy/Sir thing Gareth and Flores had going on super early in their relationship. I felt so hurt for Flower that he had to live such a horrible life 💔 growing up. A life where his Dad broke his fingers and threatened to break his legs if he didn't get what he wanted. I felt bad too that Gareth did not even believe him to the point he was spanking him really hard on his bottom. But for Flower the pain/pleasure thing was working because Gareth was only feeling Flower's private parts up as he put him over his knee with Flower insisting he didn't do it. It was not until much later when a PI was put on and he went into Flower's space with a key, that Gareth freaked. Gareth knew where he was but so did the PI. Gareth got him out of there, saw his amazing painting and then got Flower. They saw the PI and Gareth kissed him. Gareth did not know until after it was his first that is how Sheltered he was. He took him home and told him he would live with him. So they got some of his things and moved him in. And that is when erotic moments began. But Gareth kept denying himself because of his dead husband. Right before Flower's Dad basically threatened him by marrying him off to an East Coast Alpha. Before he left he gave Gareth a painting of him with his son and dead husband in happier times. Gareth runs after him and saves him! They have their baby and get married! Except all of that was super exciting! I kind of blew threw. But it is erotica pretty much after that kiss! But what was sooo funny is all that Flower had to do was say Sir and that was it for him! The other crazy funny thing is Caleb and his silly Snake dance. 🐍 This is a MUST READ book especially if you like books about Alphas and Omegas or mpreg stories!
Thought it was weird, but kind of funny. Flores is the naive, young man with family drama. Gareth is an older widower that’s supposed to be keeping an eye on him to keep him out of trouble. Gareth ends up discovering there’s more going on with Flores than the parents have led him to believe. There’s an encounter, resulting in a pregnancy, it even before that Gareth was already starting to have protective feelings for Flores so Flores moves in with Gareth and the story goes on from there. What makes it weird is how the authors seems to need to include so much…she wants to appeal to the BDSM fans with the awkward spankings and Sir/boy, but then to the omegaverse fans with the alpha/omega and mpreg, then there’s claiming and scent gland, but also weddings. And where did this wedding dress come from. In the story, Flores likes to wear lace panties, next thing I know he’s in a wedding dress. I was like lawd wth! It did make me laugh though with all the ridiculousness so 2.5-3 stars.
First- NEVER USE A VEGETABLE AS A DILDO! No flared base, no go in butt. Not that hard.
Ugh. Anti-choice blather. If you're setting up a fictional world that basically just like this one except with A/B/O and MPREG, there's no good reason to make the one other difference from this world be that abortions are a really dangerous medical procedure. They're not, and that's a lazy way to force a character into following the formula an author has for their books.
Also, just because a condom is expired, doesn't mean automatic pregnancy. As they age, they get more likely to break/tear, which neither partner noticed happening in the book. In fact, when Gareth removes it, he ties it in a knot before throwing it away, at which point the author chose not to have him notice any sort of break or tear.
Poor Flores. I felt really bad for him. He deserved so much love. I was quite dissapointed that Gareth kept comparing him to Derek. It was such a hurtful thing for him to say that Derek was his equal but Flores was just a complement.
I didn't like how it took so long for Gareth to realize his love for Flores especially at such a "convenient" time. It was like a 180 for him. I wished he did more to show his love for Flores.
I also didn't like that they still left a room dedicated to Derek and that Flores painted a wall of the original family. It didn't sit well with me. Gareth claimed that Flores eventually felt like his equal but with their sir/boy dynamic, it'll never be equal to me.
I enjoyed this story from the beginning straight to the end. Both Flores and Gareth were hilarious as well as the other characters. Flores' versatility even added to my tastes.
I want to start out with positive I love this book, and I love this author. It won't affect my review (still 5 stars) but I'm begging you, please stop making a child talk about penises, it's just gross.
I absolutely love all of her books. This one just had the added bonus of a little bit of kink. It was nice to see some cameo appearances by other characters as well.
I absolutely adored this book! I liked this book even more than the first one! Some smexy times 🔥🔥🔥🔥 and the stodybarc was beautiful and sad and so emotional l!can't recommend it enough
Great story and Book alone or part of the Series !
This story grabs you by then heart as soon as your start reading. It carries hope, love, learning, patience, fun, talent and of course romance. It's a journey I think all of us want, have had, or remember.
If your looking for a fun may/dec romance this is it Gareth supports Flores and at the same time protects him from anyone who may hurt his feelings great relationship
As always Ms. Wineheart makes the starting of her books a surprise and hello Flores, his overflowing washing machine, his sexy lacy underwear, his virgin ass, and grumpy Gareth.
I liked Flores, his path was terrible but his love for painting and dancing was mesmerizing. His love for his teacher and only friend, his desire to paint and dance ballet, I loved his personality. He was straightforward but also incredibly shy, fearful of his father, sad towards his mother's lack of love for him, without friends or emotional support. Sometimes I would get mad at Gareth, for being an ass and push Flores too hard.
Flores was a lovely character, and I loved this book mostly because of him. I also loved Gareth's friends, especially Dom who is also a grumpy ass.
I did feel the author left Gareth's son outside of his life, we barely see him in one small occasion and it didn't feel like Gareth or his son had a closed connection. I did love how Flores made a paint of Derek - Gareth's ex-husband who had died in a car accident. And I also enjoyed Ulric's small cameo and hated Flores' parents - they should have faced jail time for what they did to Flores.
Overall, I mainly loved Flores and enjoyed Gareth's personality - but not always, sometimes I wanted to kill him.
