Marigold Appleton was made for the laid-back beach life of picturesque WaterColor, Florida. Unfortunately, her bank account was not. She’s about to lose her gift shop due to her hidden location. When the town which rarely allows hotels announces they are designating a plot of land for one, Marigold convinces her father to bid on the land and build one of his boutique hotels on it so she can move her shop into it. But also bidding on the same plot of land is property developer and insanely hunky Dane Knight. This was a semi decent read about two people with baggage (one more so then the other) who compete for a piece land to turn into a Hotel.
Dane (Hero) was mixed up with a woman in the past who had two small boys that Dane fell in love with. His ex, whom he broke up a year prior, is a manipulative bitch who uses Dane by constantly leaving her kids to him, and because he loves them, he has a hard time kicking them/her out of his life no matter how much he tries. Hero does not have any romantic feelings for the OW but because he & his twin lost their own father when they were young, he feels for those fatherless boys and the witch plays on that.
What I liked:
- Dane came across as a clean cut, boy next door type – not a Manho!
- Marigold ( heroine) on the other hand is a go-lucky, spunky heroine who has been around the block a few times in the past, but she & Dane worked.
- Loved the slow development of their relationship and the chemistry that they had. I also liked that in this story, the OW (ex) was not some bombshell supermodel type as we usually have in romances. She was portrayed as plain looking with a big ass (😁).
What I didn’t like:
- Mentions of how he went bareback with OW & how heroine wanted to have sex without condom. Did we need to know that? Umm…no.
- The whole scenario with his ex’s kids.
- The fact he chose the kids over the heroine.
- Not an Alpha Hero. In fact, don’t like insecure & pansy-type Heroes. He spent waaay too much time questioning things and always requiring someone else to point him in the right direction.
- The many references that Heroine was a slut in the past….
Safety: Slight OM/OW drama as each of them have an ex in the picture but neither wants them in their life. No cheating. Hero & heroine have been celibate for a while before meeting.
Best line:
“He’s got some…baggage.”
“I think once you reach your thirties, baggage is inevitable. It’s just a matter of whether or not you can carry it.”

I’m a fan of Melissa Chambers books. I was so excited when I saw Watercolour wishes pop up. I’m so glad it didn’t disappoint.
Marigold and Dane want the same thing. They both have a background in the property market. The attraction is immediate but neither are looking for another complication.
Dane’s ex did a number on him and the aftermath is still part of his life. He sees something special in Marigold but is complicated because his life isn’t straight forward.
Two people perfect for each other. Life works it’s way around the rest. 5 out of 5.

Nobody writes a romance like Melissa Chambers! Her Love Along Hwy 30A Series includes the best summer romance reads in my library. Ms. Chambers has created a community of friends and acquaintances, based on an actual area of the Florida panhandle. Not only is the setting beautiful and makes me want to head to the beach, the characters’ interactions throughout the series, even the continuity of the beaches, stores and restaurants, immerse the reader into this real life world with these fictional characters, AND I LOVE IT! I keep trying to predict who the next couple featured in the series will be, and would gladly read twenty more books in this world!
WATERCOLOR WISHES is the fourth book of the series (each book could be read as a standalone, but you’ll want to read all) and features Marigold and Dane. Marigold owns a gift shop that’s hidden and not doing so well, and needs to get her professional life in order. Before meeting Dane at a bonfire, her love life is non-existent. Dane is successful in his business, but has some baggage that’s not easily unpacked, which makes a love life challenging.

The beautiful Marigold’s quirky personality mixes with Dane’s loyalty and honesty, resulting in a story of witty bantering, sexy scenes, and emotional drama that will make you want to laugh and cry. I felt for both of these characters and the challenges they had to manage to be together.
But besides the drama, WATERCOLOR WISHES will also enchant you with its hilarious characters, walks on the beach, a costume party, delicious cupcakes, a special hoodie, Twilight DVDs, and two adorable kids!

This book can be read as a stand alone, even though it’s the 4th book in the Love Along Highway 30A series. I read the first one and then this one and I recognized some of the characters from the first one. However, I wasn’t lost on any plot information due to skipping the 2nd and 3rd books. I’ve got them on my TBR pile now. I love her books! WaterColor Wishes is Marigold’s story. Marigold loves living in the seaside town of WaterColor, Florida where she has a great group of loyal friends (including Cassidy, Seanna, & Chase who you may recognize from the other books). She owns & operates a gift shop, but it’s sort of hidden behind another building and as such, business and her bank account are both dwindling. When the town decides to add a hotel, she encourages her father to bid for the chance to build another one of his hotels so that she can move her shop there where it will hopefully flourish. However, also bidding on the property are twin developers, Dane & Ethan Knight. Marigold is instantly attracted to Dane, even though the first time she met him at a bonfire a few weeks back she had a highly embarrassing wardrobe malfunction. She knows she had to focus on winning the hotel bid or her future is in peril, so she tries to keep her distance from Dane’s charm and ridiculous good looks. The competition for the hotel bid is not quite strong enough to tamper down the romantic feelings growing between Marigold and Dane. Dane is still reeling a bit from the previous relationship which was unhealthy, at best. Unfortunately, though it’s over between he and his ex, she has a bad habit of using her two little boys to keep him tangled in her web of bad choices. Dane’s a softie who loves the little boys as if they were his own, but he isn’t sure how that will affect his future, a future which he hopes to share with Marigold. You’ll have to read it if you want to know the juicy details between Dane and Marigold. Trust me, you won’t be sorry! This is a sweet love story with unique characters and some laugh out loud scenes. I highly recommend it for fans of romance, realistic fiction, and beach reads.

These characters get a little closer to my heart with each new offering from Chambers. While rooting for Marigold and Dane's happy ending, I dare you to stop dreaming about yours. WaterColor Wishes makes me wanna get back out there and find love.

I loved this book and its wonderfully flawed characters! The friends seem so true to life, and the beach setting serves as its own character. Melissa Chambers's "Love Along 30A" series is fun, sexy, breezy, and cozy. Get them all!

Marigold Appleton lives in WaterColor, Florida to escape living near her domineering family. Although it is not in an ideal place she has her own gift shop and lives with her friend Fiona.
Her family is in the boutique hotel business. There is a piece of property that is nearby that Marigold feels would be perfect for one of her families hotels and it could house her gift shop. She has it all figured out.
On an outing with her friends she meets Dane Knight. She learns that his firm is also interested in the same piece of property. As Marigold and Dane get to know each other strong feelings develop. Marigold has a large personality and in her words she is a hot mess. No man has ever stuck around for long. Dane ended his most recent relationship a year ago. His ex kept him on a roller coaster longer than he should have. She had two little boys and they snuck into Dane's heart. They were the reason Dane stuck it out for as long as he did. Problems in that relationship have boiled over in that they are affecting his new relationship with Marigold. Needless to say they each have plenty of baggage.
There are plenty of roadblocks for Dane and Marigold. Will they be able to work through them? Once I started this book I couldn't put it down. I loved every minute of it and didn't want it to end.

Marigold is everything! I love her spunk, her flirty ways, and how true she is to herself. Just love her!
Dane is irresistible. He is yummy, yummy. These two are perfection and along the way there are some bumps but they smooth out relatively easily.
With Marigold not renewing her lease on her little shop, she soon as no job and does not really want to go back to work for her father and his hotel empire, but she might have no choice.
Dane can't forget about Marigold and just wants to spend all of his time with her when he can, even though they may be competitors for a piece of property that came up for a new development. But an ex seems to keep getting in the way of Dane and Marigold in making progress in their relationship. Will it be too much for Marigold and can Dane wait for Marigold to figure out if she is willing to side with him and be there for him?

Lovely story
This. Is a story about the woman in their group who never has a love. In her 30 years, she has never said or heard an I love you from a man. And then Dane sees her at bonfire. He begins to chase her, and she runs. For far too much of the book, her negative self talk keeps her resisting him. Then there are the 2 children to consider. Nice characters and good writing.

WaterColor Wishes was my first book I read by Melissa Chambers and let me just tell you I want to read the rest of her series! This is the fourth book in her series: Love Along 30a. 30A is on the panhandle of Florida. If you have never been there, I highly recommend it! I have been there and the beach are the atmosphere is great!
Dane met Marigold at a bond fire and has not stopped thinking about her. One night Dane and his twin brother are at a bar and see Marigold. You will not believe what happens during this section! It will make you question if they can even have a relationship. Marigold has a gift shop that is not doing the best due to location, but Dane save the day when he came to help her with a costume contact with the kids. Marigold was surprised by how well Dane worked with kids that it threw red flags out there. Dane comes with baggage, but I am not going to tell you how, you will have to read and find out.I do like how the book had each of them work throughout their lives and how it would have been done in real life.
