How do you fight for someone who won’t fight for himself?
The man she loves is cursed to die while Zula is imprisoned—beside the man she’s sworn to marry. Zula is left powerless to intervene and Hekdan refuses to do what must be done to save his own life.
Her only advantage is that Tadrakka is equally determined as her to save his brother despite their rivalry for her affection. But even if they can somehow escape their chains, they must overcome armies and the very will of a god to save Hekdan.
Time is running out. And every moment that passes is one moment closer to the curse’s fulfillment.
Cursebound is a 30,000 word novella in the Warlords of the Sandsea romance adventure series.
Elisabeth Wheatley’s Cursebound, the seventh installment (depending on the order you choose to read them) in the Warlords of the Sandsea series, is a thrilling and emotional ride that expertly balances intense action, heart-pounding romance, and richly woven world-building. The story dives deeper into the harsh yet enchanting Sandsea, delivering twists and revelations that felt as real as if they were happening here and now.
Wheatley’s characters shine brighter than ever in this book. Zula's resilience and cunning are matched only by Tedrakka's fierce loyalty and strength, making them a dynamic pair you can’t help but root for. Their struggles and triumphs are both personal and epic, layered with deep emotional stakes that add a raw intensity to the narrative.
The pacing is flawless, with just the right balance of pulse-pounding battles and moments of introspection that allow the characters to grow. Wheatley’s vivid descriptions immerse you in the arid beauty of the Sandsea, making it a character in its own right.
What sets Cursebound apart is Wheatley’s ability to weave complex themes of loyalty, sacrifice, and identity into a story that feels both timeless and refreshingly original. I truly loved how it builds on previous installments while setting up tantalizing possibilities for the future.
If you’re a fan of fantasy with strong heroines, richly developed worlds, and a touch of romance, Cursebound is a must-read. Wheatley proves once again that she’s a master storyteller, and I can’t wait to see what the Sandsea reveals next.
Here we go with General Zula again! Loved this sequel to WARSWORN. Again, I can't stress enough how raw Zula's character is and how much I love that. I loved seeing her soften a bit and am looking forward to seeing her grow more. The ending is a trip and will have you on the edge of your seat. 5/5 stars!
There were so many things I didn’t see coming in this book. In a way, it’s just setting everything up for the next book, but I can already tell that there’s this epic tension building towards the final climax. The sort-of-romance between the main characters breaks my heart, and I can only hope for a happy ending between them. That, and the revelations about zula’s character! Overall, I’m on the edge of my seat waiting for the next installment!
