When the Comanche kill his father, twelve-year old Steve is left in the wilderness to build a home for his absent mother and younger brother, Pete. Alone, Steve has to fight the wilderness, the weather, wild animals, and his fear to survive. He continues his father’s friendship with the visiting Cheyenne. Reunited with his mother and brother at Bent’s Fort on the Arkansas river, the three develop the homestead and fight off the Comanche.

jay peters is A personal friend. have and own every book Jay Peters has written. all three are five star reading. I told Jay how much People love reading about early american history and thought A young man learning about life the hard way. in my humble opinion Jay Peters is going to develop into a legend in the early American history books. give this new author a try you'll be glad you did.Steve (Paw Paw) Stevens.

Wow! What a great story. I have totally enjoyed this book. I really hope this is gonna be a series on this family. I will read everyone I can get my hands on. I really look forward to more books on Trapper Steve and his family. Thank you for a awesome read.
