Yes honey yesssss, shollll nuff delivered the drama in this part 2! I loved it. Read in one sitting. I loved the growth in N and A and Jaide, she was a whole azz HEFFFFFA. I didn't like her. ACTUALLY, Phia and Lena were awful too ...
This can easily be a movie on OWN or BET. Your writing is FIRE.

Charae writes her ass off! I been on edge ever since I started the book and I absolutely loved how it ended. When she makes you hate a character, you really hate them. Lena, Jaide, Amai's parents and low-key Canton. Another banger like I knew it would be. I can't for the next one!

Whew Chile! That damn Jaide and Lena they deserved some serious hands put on them for all the hate and the antics. Poor Raye was just caught in the middle of all the drama and she just wanted what was best for everybody. I didn’t want Amai and Nadir together no more but they fit so well together and I’m so happy he turned out to be an excellent man who took care of her when he didn’t have to. That damn overly obsessed Canton was trouble from a mile ways he had the worst intentions. Him and Jaide was made for each because they both looney. Charae never falters when it come to best selling books and this series was another hit out the park and I can’t wait until the next read

Whew what a series! I never imagined myself understanding and even rooting for a poly situation but I digress... Amai finally was able to find herself and grow. Raye was a true friend. Nadir learned so much in this finale. Ali was always the giver of sage advice. I won’t even waste any words on Lena and Jaide 😂

Idk. I don’t think I’m feeling this one. The writing was better and the character’s personalities where more consistent which I appreciated. But I’ll be honest it didn’t end up how I hoped it would and that bummed me out. I’m definitely intrigued to read more from the author.

I loved it! My only issue was the was no reason stated of why the hatred was there so strong for Lena and Jaide... I thought something would come to light to make it make sense.

Oh Charae did not come to play with this series. The Black Effect was not the typical urban story you would normally read and I’m great full for that. Amai and Nadir kicked off this book with such ugly feelings towards each other (which was understandable) & in the end love did prevail. Even with all the drama circling around her, Raye was the ray of sunshine in book 2. She was the glue that kept everything together. From book 1 Amai was this annoying, naive young woman who hadn’t truly found herself. She went from one messed up household to the next. That time that she spent separated from the Black mansion was needed not only for her but for Nadir as well. By the end of book 2 both Amai and Nadir displayed their growth and it worked out for the better. This series was nothing short of a 5 star. Highly recommended!

I'm always tripping when an author can write a story so well; things you always said you'll never do, they can tell it in a way to have you second guessing yourself 😂
Amai- she wasn't with this shit Nadir had going on, then she was, then she wasn't, then...🤦🏾‍♀️
For three years a contract made four people a solid unit that came crashing down when one felt betrayed by the other.
Amai, Raye and Jaide built a bond that anyone on the outside looking in would never be able to understand. Hell I'm still baffled! 🥴
I like Raye, she is my favorite. She is so sweet and is such a genuine person.
Nadir should have been checked Lena frfr. That lady disgusted me with the way she acted. And Nadir pissed me off with letting her get away with it for so long.😏
I still don't know how I feel with how Canton handled the situation with his cousins. That's a "you gotta be in that situation to say what you would do" moment 🤷🏿‍♀️
Nate and Phia🤦🏾‍♀️ truthfully I don't even know where to begin with these hypocrites. 🤨
Nadir is one hell of a man to bring three woman under one roof and ummm. Well see... It's just...Wait let me come back to this🥴 He was a straight boss, boss😂
Everything was peachy until Jaide revealed what Amai had told her in private. Now things just seem to fall apart.
Jaide didn't give a damn about nobody but Jaide and a dollar, periodt! She was one shiesty azz heffa! I lost count on how many times I bodied slam her🙄
Frfr, Lena and Jaide should have hooked up and became a couple🥴. I mean Jaide wanted so badly to please her🤷🏿‍♀️.
This was an extremely different read by this author and she rocked that ish!

This woman has done it again! Charae BODIED this series!!! Nadir’s growth was so beautiful. Sometimes things have to fall apart so that a new, stronger, solid and positive foundation is built! I fell in love with these characters. Well, all except for Jaide and Lena. They were such haters. Raye was the glue in this book! She had her ways but once things started unraveling you realized where she was coming from. I love how she held Nadir down no matter what. She played her position, and well, and the fact that she was so genuine is why Nadir was able to puzzle his life back waaaay better than the original picture. Amai had a great path of growth as well! She discovered herself. Not in the way she expected, but she learned how to fix what was broken inside of her. She transformed from a naive, confused and childish woman in chains to a strong and beautiful queen. Accountability, growth, envy, hate, love, and discernment are some of the many gems Charae dropped in this series. I feel a little bad for Canton, but when you begin with ill-intentions, it seems to overshadow his greatness. He wasn’t a bad guy, but he wasn’t as innocent as he tried to paint himself out to be either. He was a bit weak in a certain light, but He was a great friend to Amai and honestly what she needed during her transition. I hope he learned a lot from how everything panned out but 🙄 that’s all I got on that situation lol! I’m glad everyone got their happy ending, and Nadir has made it to the book bae hall of fame 😩 excellent read! I highly recommend!

I never thought I would even find a story with a polygamous couple worth reading! Boy was I very wrong! I loved this story. I actually found myself not having a problem with the lifestyle. Although there was so much drama the trials really helped Amai & Nadir to grow. Amai needed that time alone to mature, focus on herself and to heal from the traumatic ending of her marriage. Along the way secrets were revealed, beat downs were given (Lena...tee hee) and her relationship with Nadir was rekindled. I never trusted Canton and I still don't he just wasn't trustworthy. Granted their platonic friendship helped Amai but honestly she did use him because he was all that she had at the moment. Nadir showed growth and the honest words that Amai belted out to him made him view his marriage through a new lens. I liked the changes that he made with his character and in the way he moved with his wives. His other was out of line and deserved that parking lot beat down! I still wish it would've been revealed why she had so much hatred for Amai. Jaide was insufferable and I'm so glad her snakish ways were revealed. She caused so much turmoil and loved to play the victim. It sucks she won't be as involved in her son's life but she brought it on herself. The topics covered in this book were: growth, family, support, infidelity, divorce, betrayal, trauma, verbal/mental abuse, forgiveness, fertility, and so much more. I was so glad to finally see Amai get the gift she always wanted inside of a nontoxic relationship/home. Wow what a story!

Black Effect 2

This entire book was unexpected and honestly I loved that aspect. Things could have went either but I always had a feeling that the feelings was always there. Even though they had said some pretty nasty things to each other they all held some truth to them on both sides. Jaide and Lena just really got on my last good nerve. They were really out to mess up everything. Jaide wanted Nadir to herself but she had to realize that it was never going to happen because she started showing her true colors. Nadir is big on loyalty and family and she was just all over the place. I am glad the necessary changes happened between Nadir and Amai. Raye is definitely my girl for real. She heard both sides and she didn't choose or insert herself into the other marriage. She gave advice the best she could and was a listening ear. Canton always seemed to good to be true but honestly he was in the same boat as Amai. He still lived the person that hurt him the most. He tried getting over it but it just did not work out. It started out all wrong though and I believe that is why he never took it there. Really great read. I will definitely be reading more from this author

Wow! Jaide was a piece of work right along with Lena. They were both getting on my nerves to no end. Amai needed time to herself and it helped in a major way. I was glad Raye actually told Nadir his issues because he needed to hear it and work towards fixing it. I should've known Canton was on some bs but I didn't expect him to go about things as he did. Befriending Amai proved just how naive she was to a lot of things. Amai had a setback but in turn it helped her and Nadir to become closer. Changes had to be made on both Amai and Nadir's part after everything they'd been through. Nadir had to face the reality of just how bitter his mom was and I couldn't fault him for distancing himself. There were constant hurdles, including toxic people that tried everything to hurt Amai and Nadir but in the end love won. In the beginning it just wasn't Amai's time but finding herself and going about things the right way got her the one thing she'd longed for. I so loved Raye and I was happy how things turned out for Amai and Nadir.

stressful

It’s been a while since I’ve found myself talking aloud while reading. But these characters… they stressed me.

So I’m giving 5 stars because I was fo sho invested in these mess. But if I’m rating outcome… it’s a 1.

I hate the ending and things that transpired in book 2.

Nadir was trash and manipulative. Jaide and Lena were established to be bottom feeders, along with Phia in book 1.

I see why most of the reviews I read complained about Amai, because she was confusing and annoying af in this book. She believed everything either Nadir and Canton said.

Initially it seemed Canton was on the up and up and it feels like the author, contradicted him some so we would like him more than Nadir. And honestly I think he and Amai were better together. They both needed time and had other people not interfered, that was the better match.

I hated how it all worked out. And Nadir was horrible.

Back to Black!!!

This was a very different read, good but different. Amai did quit a bit of growing and I was proud of her. That mammy of hers was a whole mess in these streets. Dad needed to grow some and get a back bone. Raye was sweet and I see she was the real wife, since she was first. Nadir, I'm still on the fence about him. Oh, Jaide and Lena deserved to be left a the curve like trash.

This entire series was so great! One thing I don’t understand is some people don’t get why Amai was the way that she was in the beginning. She was young minded & naive but that came with her living with her parents and then immediately moving in with Nadir. She did it give herself the opportunity & space to grow up. But I’m glad she decided to in part two! Her & Nadir’s relationship turned extremely sour & the part that I loved the most was ironically when they sat down with their lawyers because the truth came out on both sides! Starbucks Guy aka Canton should have been upfront with Amai. He didn’t have a chance with her lying about the situation. In all honesty I want her and Canton to get together, but with Nadir changing I knew he was going to try to get back with Amai! Lena & Jaide are two miserable broads. The nerve of Jaide to say Amai was just using him but girl you was using Nadir too! And I hope Ali divorce Lena ass! Period! Overall great read & well written!

Whew! Book two gave me everything that I needed and more!! Nadir responded to Amai and Canton just as I expected. I don’t know what it was but I really loved Nadir’s character. We definitely got to hear more from Nadir in this one. There was such good flow to this one, I couldn’t put it down. I was reading every chance I could. Now, what I was not expecting from this one was Jaide’s character! I was so over her, it’s not even funny! Let’s add Canton to that list as well 🤣. Overall, I love to see when two people who love each other can come together and acknowledge their flaws—that’s what Amai and Nadir did and I respect that. The love was definitely there and it took some time but I loved it. This book series was perfect. I’m not sure if I’ve ever read a story surrounding a polygamist marriage; it was definitely different and so good to read!! ❤️

FINALLY!!! It took me forever to finish this book. It didn't start really moving until about halfway through, but once it moved it really moved.

SPOILER ALERT!!!! YOU'VE BEEN WARNED!!!!!

I didn't like Canton. I just didn't care about the character, although he seemed like a good guy. He was genuinely friends with Amai. His motivation for approaching her in the first place wasn't pure, but I don't think he was playing her the whole time like Nadir seems to think.

I liked that Amai did grow as a person. She was annoying and hypocritical and oblivious to the contributions she made to the problems she had. And she was naive. But the author gave her a good arc.

Nadir was just a sexy ass alpha. I will be wife number three for that nigga. That's all I got to say about that.

I'm glad Amai went back to her family. This was a good read.

Character development at its finest

Unlikely turn of events resulted in a needed HEA. The growth of both Amai and Nadir at the cost of a devastating loss was worth their redemptive journey. While I was not a fan of Nadir in book one I was glad to see him humbled and reflective of his actions producing the necessary growth. I was also proud of Amai making the necessary moves to discover herself including her voice. The real MVP of this story was Raye. Her compassion and wealth of wisdom also became instrumental in Nadir's growth. The villains in this story, Jaide. Lena, and sanctimonious yet scandalous Phia were too much. I thought I had a good read on Canton but the ending for him didn't sit well for me. This series was unique, this author's signature and I look forward to reading more of her works.

Nadir, Jaide , Raye and Amai are back with more drama. The polyamorous relationship has hits some bumps in the road and Amai is out! She has developed a friendship with Canton, but when all secrets are revealed, she is left wondering if it was ever genuine.

Jaide, Nadir’s first wife, has joined forces with someone who has an issue with Amai, causing more damage than good. But , it may just backfire in her face, and she left on the outside looking in.

Nadir finally took a minute to reevaluate his relationship with everyone, in order to protect his “peace.” I wa ms happy to see him gain a backbone.

I enjoyed this book, just as much as the first book by @charae_rozay. I highly recommend this 💎💎💎💎💎series.

Part 2 became a bit of a rollercoaster, especially when the 3rd POV was added but it was well worth the ride!

I was engaged throughout as I kept wondering where the author was taking us with this story. I like how it developed - the author showed us both sides of polygamy and ultimately how it 'should' be done. We were able to evolve with the characters and in the end, cheer them on.

(The only thing that bothered me was the way Amai's communication seemed to have changed - there was more profanity and she was a lot more 'hood' which was strange because she grew up in the church and apparently had no friends. As she didn't talk like this in the first book it was a little confusing)

This sequel was so good!

The twists to the story were out of this world but they shed so much light on so much. A lot of my questions were definitely answered!

The author did a great job with these characters. I saw Nadir and Amai change so much and for the better. There were some characters that should of been thrown in a dumpster and set on fire never to see the light of day!

Although polygamy is not something I personally prescribe to, I was able to separate that element and view Nadir and Amai as a couple that faced adversity in their marriage and how they navigated through it. The same thing applied to Raye and Jaide.

Different

The plot was very different. It was refreshing to read something that was out the norm. I couldn't connect with the characters at all. The only personalities that were consistent were Raye and Lena. Nadir was supposed to be this smart business man but he was as intelligent as a bag of rocks. It didn't make sense to me that he recognized his wives were all different and brought something different to their but failed to realize they needed something different out of their marriage.

Listen, Amai had me on a rollercoaster with her indecisiveness. At one point I’m cheering for her and Nadir then the next I’m cheering for her and Canton, just to end up cheering for them both in the end lol. I love that she was able to find herself in this book. But I hated that Jaide was the b*tch to push her to it! I didn’t trust Jaide since the beginning so her behavior was truly no surprise. I’m glad that Nadir saw her for who she was and allowed her to make her exit. As for Amai, she finally got her happy ending. Loved this read. Definitely recommend the series.

GREAT SERIES

This book made me proud of Amai and the improvement she made in living for herself, having a voice and not letting anything stop her from being great. Drama continued with Lena and Jaide who were bitter and miserable, secrets were revealed and those who portrayed to be genuine were let go. Through it all, the growth between Amai and Nadir made their reunion bittersweet with an added bonus to complete the family. I really enjoyed this series. Highly recommend reading.

A Good Book But......

This was a good book - the part i did read, but too much gutter language. If you don't mind a husband calling his wife and mother *itches and whores. Then this is the book for you. After a few chapters I just couldn't continue to read such language. The premise of the book was excellent and could have been a very good read except the above. First time reading this author. More than likely will not give her a second chance.

Unexpected!

When I started this series, I had no idea what to expect after hearing about the lifestyle featured in this book. This was also my first read by the author! Well, it certainly won't be my last! I thoroughly enjoyed witnessing the journey taken by Nadir and Amai! Add in the supporting cast, and this became a story that I couldn't put down until I finished!! New fan alert!

interesting series!

I’ve never read a fictional series on polygamy and I must admit at first I was like ahh heck naw lol but the way she wrote it made me understand how that unit could possibly work. It’s not for meee lmao but I can see that perspective. I loved the growth Nadir and Amai had to go through. And I loved Raye. I feel like I was duped by a certain character 🙄 lol. Overall this story wrapped up nicely and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
