The Power of Pressure: Why Pressure Isn’t the Problem, It’s the Solution

Rate this book
Be energized, but not overwhelmed

What’s the most pressure you’ve ever been under? How did you react? What helped? What didn’t? Over the past five years, Dane Jensen has asked these questions of thousands of high performers—from Olympic gold medalists to Navy SEALs, politicians, executives and busy parents. What has emerged from these conversations is that while everyone’s experiences under pressure are unique, pressure follows patterns and develops in predictable ways. If we can recognize the patterns, we can improve our ability to sidestep the biological traps that can sabotage us—and use the energy that accompanies pressure to thrive. The Power of Pressure combines the insights gathered from Jensen’s work with the latest research in biology and neuroscience to help you

understand and use the “pressure equation” of importance, uncertainty and volumeescape the traps of pressure with effective tools and tacticsbe ambidextrous so that you can handle pressure both in peak pressure moments and over the long haulreduce tension, sleep better and have more energy so that you can meet challenges head-onrecognize pressure moments so that you can prepare for when you will likely the feel the heat leverage strategies so that you can give everything you’ve got when it’s most importantAnd more! How we navigate our highest-pressure moments has a huge impact on the overall trajectory of our lives, both in terms of how successful we are and how much we enjoy the journey along the way.

Pressure is a double-edged sword. Jensen does a terrific job of explaining how to wield it without getting cut

What do you do when under pressure? It’s a choice point that many of us fall into without even realizing. The result? Damage to our physical health, denuded relationships, and diminished results. Dane Jensen’s thoroughly researched and evidence-based book helps us uncover the other side of pressure – the side that turns coal into diamonds. The result? A healthy body, a calm brain, and a deliberate focus on results.

This book really opened my eyes. It’s extremely informative, logical and has a good flow. I was engaged for the entire book. The Power of Pressure reveals tools and techniques to combat exhaustion and manage pressure. It’s a new perspective on pressure and I felt empowered after I read it. Refreshing to have a book like this during a pandemic. An essential read for anyone. It’s life changing.

An excellent read of how to deal with both short term and long term pressures. What I enjoyed was the stories used to illustrate the points along with practical tips. I find many of these types of books to be difficult to get through, but Dane's writing style is easily relatable. That being said I'm looking forward to a second and more thorough go-through.

3.5 for content, 2 for delivery.

A few interesting ideas lost in a haystack of anecdotes, stories and repetitions.
Feels like one of those blog posts turned into books.
This is not to discount the concepts, but probably just look for a summary and you’ll be fine and save a few hours.

So I found this under a stack of books and started to read again. This book gives you tools to use and you will need time to digest everything as you put the learning into action.
