Enchantement

La Table d’émeraude

Rate this book

I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review

I have love love this series and it's characters ever since I read the first book The Moonstone. I do love a good greek myth retelling or anything that relates to greek mythology since I have huge fascination for that.

Makes me happy to see authors like Evelyne bring life to these mythical characters and gave them their own perspective that we don't even imagined before when we read these stories.

SPOILER WARNING!
Now let's get on to the review. Warning there will be some SPOILERS since I can't contain myself after I finished this book. I was shooked!!!

Also if you haven't read the first two books of the series then better not read this review if you don't want to be spoiled because there will be references from the first 2 books here. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

The World of Enchanters
So in the first book, The Moonstone, we had an introduction of the Enchanters' world. How they lived in secret for centuries and they have cities hidden from humans. In the 2nd book we see the world of Atlantis and how glittery and enchanting it is and also in the 2nd book we also see the world of the White Enchanters, you might say they're the pure ones and they are white Enchanters because of their magic .

Here in the 3rd book we get to see the Enchanters' city in London which is very colorful. And this where I learned that even Enchanters can have children with now powers though it is rare but heck like any society there is bound to have some negativity for being "different" than the norm. Then we have the dark underworld of the Black Enchanters. They're the bad type of enchanters and you better not try mixing up with that crowd. I am not even fond to their dark prince.

Lastly we get to the inside of the Bermuda Triangle where and island inhabited by flying pirates. Yes people there are enchanted pirates here. It was a short intro but I do hope we get to see more in the next books because I love pirates.

I love how the author build the different world of enchanters and their cities. Each is very unique and you can see the differences. Though I am curious about the Enchanters' world in China since it was mentioned in the book. We will just wait and see what the author has in store for us .

The New Characters
We get to see the whole gang back and some new and old enemies here also gained some new friends. So for the new characters we meet Archie who is called an Achilles, born Enchanters without powers. What I love about his character is that even though he was shunned by his society for he lack of enchantment but he still see the beauty of things and helps others like him or not in the norm by society standards.

Then we have the Dark Prince of the Black Enchanters, Thanatos, not The Thanatos who is Death lol but a character who is just evil with that name, I do want to strangle the douche. We also have his son, who is named Silas. I was intrigued of this character because he is a hybrid you might say. Thanatos' wife is a white enchanter so I had my on him while I was reading the Black Enchanters' world part.

Then in the Enchanted Pirate island we meet a few new characters which I hope we will see more in the next book/s. A possible love interest for Éloï .

That Plot Twist SHOOKED ME!
I was shooked! I do love a good plot twist and this one I didn't see coming. I usually have a gut feeling or a clue. I did guess one revelation of Lou's parentage and her connection with Black but this....THIS!!!! I DIDN'T SEE IT COMING.

I totally screamed when I was on that scene. You never judge a book by it's cover really. So a little warning, don't invest your emotions to a certain character because you might end up like me and I like this character but them that plot twist happened. I ended up hating him.

Overall Impressions
Evelyne always amazes me in each of her book in this series and The Emerald Tablet didn't disappoint. We get to see more of the Enchanters world in the 3rd book. This book deserves 5 and I am excited for the next book because it will continue on Silas perspective, more of that cutie! And the main story will continue in the 5th book which I am also excited too.

First of all I’m glad that the series doesn’t end right here!!! I didn’t want this adventure to be ended! Not so soon.

Let me talk about the way their bond have been developed. Black’s and Lou’s relationship got stronger than ever. Lou leaving Black made it much stronger. I found Black’s beahaviour a bit dominative over Lou but it was beautiful in a way.
I loved how Pyros got attracted himself to lo. Being a Moirai, Clo had very less understanding about the world but Pyros being very protective about Clo was so beautiful. Clo discovered a new person within Pyros rather than managing the grumpy enchanter. Flicka and Pax, well I was expecting them to hook up on the second book but they had dragged it up to the third! Well I love their chemistry. Carefree, fun and straight forward!

The way the friends finally opened up to each other was very heart warming.

I fell in love with this series since I read the first book. Everything about this book is just magical! The use of mythology and magical elements was excellent! Flashbacks were amazing too.

- The World of Enchanters
This book takes you into a totally new enchanted world! Forget Atlantis! These are London and New York cities enchanted worlds!! I wish they really exist. The best part was the city of Pirates. The Bermuda Triangle? Is it even possible? It was pretty cool. The flying boats and their abilities. The whole lots abilities were just extraordinary. I’m totally in love with this enchanting world!

- The Plot Twist
I didn’t see it coming! Let me avoid spoilers but someone like that?? How can this person be so cruel? I always wondered who Lou’s father could be. But getting to know facts about Lou’s birth, it was an utter shock for me! Why does it has to be Lou always? She suffers enough for the world!

- New characters
New mythical creatures and the new characters those were introduces throughout the story added more fun to it. Archie was the most interesting new character for me. Thanatos was a very intimidating character. Silas being a hybrid, he was kind and nice for people. Silas’s character was an example for the fact that goodness never fades within people even if you live among bad ones.
Curiosity, this element had been used well throughout the book. A page turner.

The cover is as stunning as the previous two books from the series. I love the fact that the same pattern had been used in all three book.

Fantasy lovers out there, this call is for you!! Get your books and start reading them now!!

The Emerald Table is the third book in the Enchantment series written by Evelyne Contant. In this book things get heated up even more. The author develops a plot that is intricate with a few twists I did not see coming. Some secrets are finally being revealed that I was happy to finally find out what the mystery was all about. In this third book there is always something happening. The pace if pretty spot on with a few spots that are maybe a bit slower. Overall though the book doesn't drag out nor does the author ever rush you through the story really.

I got hooked on this series with the first book which was incredible so I had to pick up the second book which was a bit of a disappointment after the first one especially. So I had to get the third one to hope that the second one was a bit of a fluke, sadly the second one is closer to the third than the first one is.

Lou continues to make decisions you can just shake your head over and wonder "why, just why are you doing this?". There is often no rhyme or reason why she does it, but just because she decides it is the best idea even though there really is not actual reason to support her reasoning. Things always miraculously work out in her favor, no matter what it is. I get it, she has to be able to work things out, but come on, make her work for it a little bit and not just have her have everything fall in her lap!
I used to really like Lou but I am less and less a fan of hers, especially since all she can seem to think about when Black is around is how amazing pretty much anything about him is and that she can do nothing but comment, out loud or in her head, about it. There is only so much of that I can or want to read about that in one day at some point I just want to read about the actual story.

Another issue I have with this book just like I did with the second one, we still have a lot of editorial errors and they just shouldn't be there with computer software and ARC readers.

This series definitely started with the strongest book and is getting weaker and weaker as the series goes along. This leaves me in a dilemma with where to go when the next book comes out, but chances are I am done at this point since I just see no point at this stage to continue reading on. It was fun while it lasted though ......

Read this review on https://chezreadz.wordpress.com/2018/...

I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

I've been waiting so long to read the Emerald Table and have been not so patiently been looking at my inbox for a copy and when it finally came I was rejoiced. If you didn't know already you can probably guess that I really like this series. I am a sucker for Greek mythology and even though this story doesn't have a lot of the traditional elements of it (it's a bit more modernized) from the moment I started this series I was hooked.

That being said I feel like I was a bit disappointed in the third instalment. I still really enjoyed it, but I found that the things that I liked so much in the first and second book, for example the way Lou was mature and handled things, weren't as much here as I would've liked. Lou was doing things that had me rolling my eyes and when she got into trouble my mind just went "I knew it."
Something else that I found lacking was the emotional ties that I built with the characters in the previous book. I'm not sure exactly why that was, but I think it came from the fact that I felt like everything was being told to me. I didn't really get a chance to figure out things on my own. As soon as something relative came up in a situation it was just thrown out there but I couldn't pick up any clues of it before hand, which was a shame. Maybe it got lost in translation, but I would've liked to read from and make assumptions from the situation or looks than to be told it was so. For example when someone is hurt, after a while I'd rather read "he was limping towards me, favoring his left leg" than the repeated "Oh no! You're hurt."

Apart from that there weren't really any more things that kept me from enjoying the book and I flew right through it. I finished the first 3 parts of the book in less than a day, but after that you could really see that I didn't want it to end. I was glad that this book explored even more of the Enchanter's world and I got to see more charaters, places and knowelegde that'll probably come in handy when Lou needs them!
