A good way to round up the Empire attack arc, despite it being somewhat jarring that Rimuru is suddenly one of the 4 dragons (massive spoilers, I know). Rimuru getting round to naming Ciel was a good way to actually humanise one of his closest partners I think, and their rapport between each other was entertaining as always (perhaps even more so than Raphael days).

Starting to get very formulaic.
The main character and his allies get in trouble, then they all level up and crush their enemies. Rinse and repeat.

This volume was almost only fights between Rimuru and his friends against various Empire officers, and the fights were not particularly good, mostly the good guys powering up through various deus ex machina (Hi Ciel !) and then beating up the bad guys. It felt like reading a mediocre battle shonen in book form, so it was very disappointing. It also marks the end of the Eastern Empire invasion arc, but that arc was in my opinion the worse in the series, and I found myself losing interest in it.
This makes me kind of sad, since it was the first light novel series I ever read, and the manga adaptation is still one of my favourite manga. But unlike the manga, the light novels were always plagued by mediocre translation and bad writing, with the author having a strong tendency towards inane infodumps, poor pacing, and boring fights. It had however an interesting plot centred on nation-building and diplomacy, as well as interesting and likeable characters, which is why I originally liked it, but that went out of the window when the Empire arc started, and I am not sure the series can go back on track after this, especially since Rimuru and his followers are now extremely overpowered compared to everyone else. I will still be reading the manga, as I have always found it far better than the light novels, but I probably won’t continue with the light novels themselves.

I actually liked this volume quite a lot. There is a lot of action and many characters get to show off. But Rimuru and all their companions get Deus Ex Machina like powers. Though the way Rimuru is granted these powers is cohesive with the story, his companions get the level up during their fight when they are about to be defeated. This happens multiple times in a row, while entertaining it gets a bit annoying. In addition I dislike the implication surrounding Masayuki. It is revealed that he is basically the reincarnation of Rudra and thus a time paradox is created because at the point in the story where Velgryd goes on to find the fragments of Rudra, Masayuki has already been in the world since around volume 10. In addition it is implied that Rimuru and the star dragon have some powers in common. I hope it does not turn out that the whole story is about time travel and predestination. Still I am really excited how this story ends.

The Empire arc is finally over (or mostly over?) and I have mixed feelings. Overall, I like what was present, but not the execution. The storytelling always felt three steps ahead and two steps back, almost as if it were circular. That made large chunks of it feel like a slog.
My biggest issue is the structure and reading the afterward really made me wish they had extra time for this whole arc to have gone smoother considering we’re now knocking at the door to One Piece level of cast of characters. Sometimes it’s a headache, especially when characters haven’t gotten on your good side yet.
I’m hoping the next volume slows down. Between this and volume 14 I’m all actioned out.

The volume that made me drop the series. I finally realized that it's just been nonstop *teleports behind you* fight scenes for the past few volumes, and virtually none of the fights have stakes to them, and I found myself just skipping forward to the end of the fight. Everyone goes Super Saiyan Ultra Blue Instinct God Supreme God Max, blah blah. The series just isn't for me anymore. If you like reading hundreds of pages of fight scenes, you'll have a great time, but I just stopped caring.

That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime is still my favorite light novel series. There are so many memorable characters and a pretty good plot throughout the series. In Vol. 13 the empire decides to attack the city of Rimuru and they employ a great strategy using the labyrinth to trap and massacre their enemies. Vol. 14 is amazing because we finally see two of the strongest beings Veldora and his sister Velgrynd fight against each other. I loved seeing how Veldora has matured and become stronger thanks to Rimiru. Rimuru and his friends decide to attack the empire but then the tables turn against them.
Now in vol. 15, I got very excited with the introduction of new challenges. The conclusion of the True Dragons fight was amazing but expected, and the evolution of Ciel along with Rimuru's was very hyped at first. But, the series is starting to become a very repeating pattern. They are in trouble and then they just magically power up out of nowhere, and beat everybody up with no major challenge. I guess that is somewhat expected of anime, mangas, and light novels in general, but the whole series had a better narrative in the first books.
The most amazing about the series is how well Fuse manages such a large and memorable cast of characters, and introduces many others in each volume. This time around, though, nothing impressive occurs in terms of new characters. I was expecting the four knights to be absolutely broken, just like Rimuru's Big Four or stronger. But they were not, which was disappointing. Although this volume is heavy on the battles, they are mostly long and boring compared to previous volumes. Overall, a good book. I cannot expect to be too impressed in the next volumes, considering how Rimuru and his friends are ridiculously overpowered. But I have come this far in the series and I will see it through to the end!

Interesting
I really enjoyed reading this volume. It was hard to follow with so many battles and the introduction of new characters. I don't quite grasp the evolution of the trio demons. Also how did Carillon and Frey happen to have siblings and never been mentioned. In addition why the sudden evolution to true demon lords? I felt like a rather convenient opportunity for them to just upgrade them. The story line is good but some of the side stories make no sense. Also why did Diablo let the mist lord go away? So many questions.

Excellent!
The story is getting good and the differences with the WB are interesting. The WN is a lot more black and white than the LN version but it keeps it interesting for people who’ve already read the WN. There’s new characters and some of the old ones, like Yuuki, have changes significantly. I’m excited for the next volume.

Good story but translation suffers
A solid continuation that suffers from an increase in typos and mistranslations compared to previous novels. Not sure what happened during editing here... But hopefully it'll improve in the future. Overall I still enjoyed the story so I guess it doesn't matter that much.

Loved it. 4 stars because of spelling issues in kindle version
There were a few spelling issues I found in the kindle version. Fist became first, I became you, and a few others here and there. You can figure out the correct word from context but it was still annoying.

I sped through this as I loved the cliffhanger in the previous volume.
BUUUUTTTTTTTTTT this is borderline a meh. While I enjoy the twists, with some are quite surprising and I can see new arc. But the rest gets boring. Like how many times do they must evolve?

Oh yeah, the conclusion to the battle between the Empire and Rimaru's crew. This was such an awesome read and conclusion to this particular arc. I am really looking forward to see where the series goes from here and I'm going to start on the next one right away.

Oh my word
These are just so good. I really couldn't put it down. Although I had it wrong at first of who had Michael inside them. I honestly thought it was Yuuki at first, but I see that I was wrong.

4/5 I haven’t read a volume of Tensura in about 2 years so I’m now 3 volumes behind after this one. I started this once last year read about 1/4th of it but got derailed by something else.
This volume pretty much wraps up the arc with Ludora and the Eastern Empire’s attack on Rimiru. This 400 page “light novel” is almost 100% battle driven. All of our big hitters are in play and we’re introduced to Ciel. Yet another cheat for our party of heroes. Pretty much everyone powers up yet again. In typical fashion things look grim for maybe 50 pages until our team goes super mega ultra over powered yet again and wipes the floor with the bad guys. The story itself is pretty convoluted considering this seams to happen every time.
But I still have fun with it I enjoy these characters and I’m just addicted to the world building and their antics even if we’re just rehashing overpowered battles. That being said there are too many damned characters we need a glossary at this point. Adding the demons was one thing I love Testarosa, Ultima, and Carrera but now we have whole segments of novel dedicated to their minions. It’s just too much to track.
But as long as I’m having fun I’ll keep reading them. I just keep a notepad open to keep track of who the hell everyone is.

A religion is required
I have decided that in order to keep me sane when this series inevitably comes to an end that I will create a religion. After all, Rimuru is already my god. This was the largest and most dense volume, and to that, hats off to Fuse. I liked every bit of development in this volume and I am now ready for things to settle down a bit at least in the next. Honestly more than a little unfair that one has to wait until so far deep into the book to see the payoff of the rage rimuru was feeling at the end of volume 14. But worth it.

Oh my god! I was really confused starting out because it doesn’t actually start how the last book finished but once I got pass that, everything was full steam ahead and it was a ride.
