Tag and his friends have found Blaze's firehawk family! Now Tag and Skyla want to return home to Perodia. But they're trapped in the Land of the Firehawks! To get home, they must find their way through a mysterious underground maze. But the maze is full of confusing turns, and magical secrets. Will the friends be able to make it back to Perodia? And what dangers will they meet along the way? This fully illustrated series makes a great introduction to fantasy and quest stories for younger readers!
Tag (an owl), Skyla (a squirrel), Blaze (a firehawk), and Claw (a vulture) have travelled to the Land of the Firehawks through a magic portal, reuniting Blaze with her mother, Talia. Aside from Blaze, the other four want to go back home to Perodia, but they are stuck until they find a magic object to help them open another magic portal. Will they be able to find what they need to get back home?
I have only read 1-2 books earlier in this series, and just like those, this one doesn't disappoint. The introduction does a good job of giving background and context that it's easy to pick up here at book 10 of the series. That being said, the intro made me want to read the book prior (#9) to find out how Blaze reunites with her mom. In book 10, the animal friends discover that there is more to Claw than meets the eye. I liked how the friends treat Claw even after learning some hard truths about him. This is a good lower elementary fantasy series that provides quick resolution and also the draw to keep reading the series to see what else happens.
A fine ending to the series. I had forgotten about these books, and so had my kid. WE jumped back in when the library got this book available. It took about two chapters, but he started remembering quite a bit from the previous books. However, he didnt really care about this book since it had been so long.
There are a few more books in the series, but this is as far as my son and I will go. I am satisfied with the ending of this one to be my final one in the series because of a specific detail about the Valor Owls. I feel it gave the story closure. The final message of this book was forgiveness and new beginnings.
This was the best one. I love the ending. It always makes me happy when a villain decides to turn a way from his or her evil ways and do what is right. That is what happened to Thorn who is now Claw. This was a quick fun series to read!

Giving myself credit for this book since my 7 year old son and I have read the whole series together this year. It has been “our thing” to take the fire hawk journey this year!! Growing a reader…
Ooh! This one had an exciting part thrown in there! And a great ending (but always a way to lead to the next book, right?). This was perhaps my favorite of the whole series.
