A brilliant series this omnibus addition has the first 5 books. Introducing Rebekka a journalist and her photographer Sune. Plenty of suspense and as they investigate a series of serial killers. Great stuff definitely recommend
A series of the first 5 Rebekka Franck novels about a Danish journalist. They are a little above average on the plots, but many are transparent to me on the guilty party. But the plot seems less about finding the bad guy(s) than about finding a way to make it obvious they're guilty. The 5th one was the real surprise, though. I wasn't sure who the murder mastermind was, but someone who isn't supposed to be able to figure out who he is, does figure it out, which leads to a difficult situation but one that works. I think the 1st and 5th are the best of the lot. I am grateful that the author doesn't go into much of the sex act except for a few descriptors here and there, ones that are used are generalized. Still, I wouldn't recommend this series for under 18s, mostly because the protagonist has sex with multiple partners repeatedly but suffers no ill effects like STDs. She is always thinking herself in love yet nearly rejects the only real love she has, repeatedly. She does due diligence for her reports but never checks up on her dates or her husband's supposed therapy that makes her think they have a chance to reconcile. I'd have been checking up on his therapist, esp given his prior actions and the danger he presented if he wasn't truly improving. I'd have checked up on dates as well. As for corrections, someone who is an expert proofreader needs to correct the many subject-verb agreement issues, the typos, & the proper tenses of verbs (e.g., "snuck" isn't the past tense of "sneak," and isn't really a word. The past tense of "sneak" is "sneaked." The first 3 pbooks used it properly, so I am unsure why she chose a colloquialism, if it can even be called that considering it isn't a word, in the last 2 books. Overall, entertaining series. I'm curious about the resolution of the relationship left hanging at the end of book 5. My favorite character is Valdemer. Awesomely written.
These books are creepy, gruesome and at times, very scary. There are a lot of very sick, twisted individuals in all of these books. I actually got up and made sure my doors were all locked at one point. The storylines are intense and each book is different. Rebekka and Sune are in all of the books as a reporter and her photographer covering the stories as they unfold. I found each story to be unpredictable and difficult to stop reading.
That said, the editing is terrible. There are words missing, wrong words used, poor sentence structure, and just so many more mistakes in each and every book! I kept hoping this would get better as the next book started but that never happened. Normally I would never give any book a 4 star rating with this many mistakes but I felt the actual storylines of these 5 books deserved it. I was so caught up in the story that I finally had to just accept the terrible editing and keep reading.
As a warning to other readers, there is sex, kidnapping, torture, murder, dismemberment and a LOT of violence in these books so if that is an issue for you, don’t even consider these.
This box set covers several years in the life of the journalist, Rebekka Frank. Alongside Rebekka, we meet her dad; her daughter, Julie; her ex-husband, Peter; her on and off partner and photographer, Sune and his son, Tobias. These characters are the common thread through the stories.
Each book in the set has its own murders and mysteries to solve, and as a journalist, Rebekka digs deep to uncover the stories behind the cases, helped by Sune, who as well as being the photographer, is also quite a good hacker.
The characters were well written, my favourite being Rebekka’s dad, who was dependable and took great care of Rebekka and Julie. Rebekka, although determined and often pushy on the career front, came across as fairly immature and naive where relationships were concerned, unable to make a decision and stick to it. She was annoying at times, as she ran headlong into investigations, seemingly without a thought of how anything would impact on her family and friends.
Overall, the stories were intriguing, quite gruesome at times, and made a compelling read.
I really enjoyed the five volumes of the Rebekka Franck series by Willow Rose. The trouble that Rebekka finds herself in is amazing and all from doing her job as a newspaper reporter. Who knew that so much trouble could be found that way?
It was exciting to see what twisted psychotic mind Willow would develop each time. And, despite some farfetched parts and annoyances with Rebel ma's choices, I am ready to see what she gets herself into in volume 6.
I have two reasons for my four-star rating: 1) There are a lot of parts that are overly redundant. 2) As the books progressed there were an increased number of typos and grammatical mistakes.
Kind a crazy killings. They seemed all over the place with Rebekka as the common thread. She is a strong journalist and mother but deep inside is torn by insecurities, doubts, fears. It was a long journey but she found the light at the end of the tunnel. Her father, her daughter, her partner and lovers stood by her side until she realized what she needed to be wholesome. The killers' club members found themselves victims of another born killer. Ironically, he was also a prior victim turned avenger. Irony of ironies, he goes free. For how long? Can't wail to see what Willow Rose will bring up next.
I just finished the first 5 volumes of the ‘Rebekah Franck’ series. I was able to read all five books in just seven days. I just couldn’t put her books down!
To say I thoroughly enjoyed them would be an understatement. I found Ms. Rose’s writing to be filled with all the twists & turns you expect from a Peterson, Connelly, or DeMille. Her writing makes it easy to visualize the characters, plots and locations.
I’ve already downloaded Books 6 - 8 and can’t wait to start them. Thank you, Willow Rose, for being such an outstanding author.
I liked this series. Rebekka is finding all sorts of adventure being a journalist. Tracking down serial killers to finding herself in sticky situations. While trying to be a mother and a girlfriend. How she juggles it out is amazing. Thank goodness for her work partner/boyfriend Sune. Every story leaves you wanting more, and you can't help but keep turning the pages. Some of these books were a bit graphic so beware if you are squeamish. The only book I had an issue with was Grab your Crucifix as it never loaded for me, so I had to get the book by itself. To be able to continue the series.
I cannot get enough of Willow Rose's books. I have read all of the Emma Stone books, including her latest, all the Eva Rae Thomas books (waiting for the new one to come out 12/24/20) and am now into Rebekka Franck series. I usually read 1 book/night (nothing interesting on TV) and will start her last book #5 tonight. I love the twists and turns and am blown away at "who done it" at the end.....not who I thought. When I finish Rebekka, I'll probably move to her next series and then read her individual books.
Not my kind of books. A little to sick for me but I will say that they kept me engaged. I didn't like the subjects matter but I couldn't put them down. I called the ending in the 4th book but I see that the series in continued and wonder where they will go from here. I kind of want to know how it goes with Rebekka, Sune, Julie and Tobias.
Willow Rose, you are a master of twists and turns at every step of the way through these books about Rebekka Franck. Holy cow, how do you sleep at night? It must be that ocean air that keeps you calm after writing such vivid descriptions of some of the worst murders. This series is not for the faint of heart.
I got this set of books because I was fascinated with her tie of "Queen of Scream". It certainly applies here. The five stories are about Rebakka Franck and her life as a reporter in Denmark. You will read a little of the history of Denmark and how the the names are spelled there. The author, Willow Rose, tells us about all the stories Rebekka reported on and how she came to help solve them. Each story gets more involved and you don't want to stop reading. Believe me, I lost sleep, but I did really enjoy reading the stories. I know you will to. I''m just glad I'm not prone to nightmares.
I've just finished Vol 1-5, some being a re-read and the others for the first time. None have been a disappointment. Willow Rose has fast become one of my favorite authors.
It’s worth it’s price ($0 - I got it for free on amazon)
I can tell this was self published as it is very poorly written. It felt like reading something written by a 12 year old but with a very mature (murder, sex etc) and far fetched storyline.
Oh my goodness. Five stories featuring Rebekka Franck and her seemingly eerie way of always being where trouble is. Great stories, creepy murderers, and some real surprises. I could not put it down.
It moved fast & kept me hooked .. hated when I had to go to work .. I watched less TV too cuz books 1-5 were soooo good & the romance helps too cuz was just some .. not the whole book
Wow reading these 5 books of the series so far has left me wanting more! So many twists and turns but never left me feeling like I was missing anything. I can't wait to read more of Rebbeka and Wine. I sure hope they are both in the rest of the series.
A great, fantastic series. Fast moving, but I did guess about Peter, at end of #4.😱 But it is great and can’t wait for the next 5. The books are short most in a days read if a reader. Can’t put them down. Keep on WRITING, girl Fantastic job. Love them all.! ❣️❣️
This is the first time I've read any of her books but it won't be the last. She has murder down pat. I'm claustrophobic and I'm telling you one of these books scared the holy shot out of me!
This writer has a way of writing Danish stories in the way, exact way of how they talk, when translated into English. These stories really had me reading well into the night. Excellent books.
This set of 5 books is nice set for reading. All 5 stories are about cruelty to humans. I’m not s fan of all the cruelty but I did enjoy reading the actual stories. I could have done without all the violence and sex.
Unbelievable collection of stories. Each one gets into more suspense than the last. Rebekka just wants to get away from her ex and do her journalistic job and take care of her daughter. She never expected the danger she was in.
I just loved these books!! They are so good to read. They have so much going on and very full of suspense!! Love the characters. Would like to have more books with them.
Simply the best👍💯 novels of suspense, thrills and kills!! Never read any stories better. Willow Rose🌹 had outdone herself!!! Must read every one of books📚
