Sawyer Flynn vows to see that the man who murdered his brother pays for his crimes, but becoming the sole caretaker of an orphaned infant sidetracks him from the mission. Sawyer can’t do it all—run his mercantile, care for the baby, and find justice for his brother. He needs help. But not from Emma Jean Gilley.

When her father flees town after killing a man, Emma Jean is left alone to care for her kid brother, but her father’s crime has made her a pariah and no one will give her a job. Learning of Sawyer’s need, Emma Jean makes her case to step in as nanny.

Sawyer is outraged by Emma Jean’s offer, but he’s also desperate and he reluctantly agrees to a temporary trial. Working together brings understanding, and maybe something more. But just when things heat up between Sawyer and Emma Jean, the specter of her father’s crimes threatens to drive them apart forever.

Winnie Griggs grew up in south Louisiana in an undeveloped area her friends thought of as the very back of beyond. With her two younger siblings and another family of two siblings for playmates, she spent many an hour exploring the overgrown land around her home, cutting jungle trails, building forts and frontier camps, and looking for pirate ships on the nearby bayou.

Once she ‘grew up’ she found other outlets for dealing with all those wonderful, adventurous imaginary friends by filling notebooks with their stories. And somewhere along the way, those scribblings gave way to full length stories.

Eventually she found her own Prince Charming, a rancher whose white steed takes the form of a tractor and whose kingdom is situated in a small rural community that she loves to call home, and together they’ve built their own storybook happily-ever-after. Their lives together expanded to include four now grown children who share Winnie’s vivid imagination and her husband’s steadier influences and are now out in the world pursuing their own adventures.

Winnie shares her stories with readers through her writings for Love Inspired and Love Inspired Historical books. You can learn more about Winnie at www.winniegriggs.com

I liked it. Although the beginning is slightly confusing. 2 characters show up Mr & Mrs Shultz. Now Mr Shultz introduces his wife to people. However she calls he Papa. Now this makes it confusing as i can only assume "Papa is his name". but obviously papa means father. So yes I think she needs to change the characters name as it makes the story very confusing. I do like the premise of the book and i like the characters. But there was quite an abrupt turnaround. The majority of the book Sawyer is searching for other family to take AJ and he is also searching for his wife (which didn't really explain why or come of anything) and then he wakes up one morning and is just like nope don't wanna give AJ up any more. There was no build up (contemplation over what to do) ect.

This was a fun and sweet read. Sawyer had a lot of anger coming out of him. His brother had been murdered by an evil man from their town who had escaped afterwards and left his daughter, Emma and son, Henry, to face the judgment from the town. Sawyer could t help but turn his fission towards them. That all changed when a baby who was a distant relative was left with him. He needed help and Emma was the only one who could do it. Slowly things started to change and feelings became apparent. That all may change once the evil steps back into their lives again.

Wow!!

This story had me feeling lots of different emotions. Would Emma Jean and her brother ever lose the stigma of what their father had done and be accepted by the townspeople, especially Sawyer? This story really moved me hearing all the things that Emma Jean had to live with and all the losses that Sawyer went through in such a short period of time. My heart went out to them. Then bring in baby AJ and the story gets even better. I loved reading this story so much.

Great book in series

A wonderful story perfect for the Thanksgiving holiday. The story's theme is as old as time, prejudice a damaging and dangerous viewpoint or belief! Emma Jean is a strong female role model who struggle hard to provide for her brother and herself despite the town's hateful attitudes and actions against them because of what their father had done. A story filled with anguish, loss and love which you'll enjoy reading.

A sweet story of perseverance

Trying to raise her brother in a town after her Pa had destroyed their chances of being accepted by the town folk made everyday’s scramble for pennies a chore. Being hired by the man most likely to hate them might have put food in their bellies but did it give them a chance for a future too?

Sawyer (Bachelors & Babies Book 6)

I have been enjoying this entire series and this book is a welcome addition. It's the first time I've read a book by Winnie Griggs and I'll be checking out her other books. This book has characters that I can relate to, an interesting storyline along with enough angst to keep me very entertained. They earned their HEA. JudyE

Sawyer (book 6)

I loved, loved this story. Poor Emma Jean and Henry were struggling to eat. Their father had robbed the bank an d shot Lanny, Sawyer’s brother. Sawyer owned the mercantile store. A couple got off the train carrying an infant and looking for Sawyer. Sawyer was getting a baby but he just didn’t know it yet. This is really a great story. You will enjoy this

Painful and very emotional

Bachelor's & babies is a wonderful series I have been reading and I think Sawyer is my first read by Winnie Griggs. I loved every but if it, I felt so sad for the brother and sister that I really felt their pain. People were really cruel to them. I enjoyed the book very much so I would definitely recommend this book.

Great story

I loved this book. The characters were multidimensional, the plot believable, the content clean and the editing was well done. It wasn’t a literary masterpiece, but was a pleasant diversion, which is exactly what I am looking for.

Very nice

I enjoyed it from word one to the final word. The lesson, one I learned a long time ago, is that each person is an individual in his or her own right. Judging people for what others have done is simply wrong.

Wonderful!

I absolutely loved this story. Even with Mr Grumpy Pants, Sawyer. Sweet natured Emma Jean and her little brother Henry, along with baby AJ, helped bring the healing balm to Sawyer’s heart that he hadn’t yet realized he needed.

Very sweet epilogue 🥰

Spectacular and enjoyable story.

This is another really good story for this series. Ms. Griggs has done a phenomenal job in creating the scenes and characters and in putting everything together into a spectacular story. I really loved this story and the characters and the tough, sweetness of the heroine, and I imagined all the different moods and actions of the hero. Then there is Henry the wonderful younger brother of our heroine who was like a bit of the lifeline along with baby AJ who held everything together. With a most awesome HEA this is a one story you don't want to miss.

Loved it!

Sawyer- owner of the Mercantile and sadden and bitter by the loss of his brother.
Emma Jane- and her younger brother try to get by with odd jobs and are not welcome in the community due to her father's reputation.
I enjoyed reading this captivating story that is fantastically written with charismatic characters and witty dialogue. The H seemed real, though bitter for good reasons he didn't let that blind him to reality . Loved their chemistry and with the young ones. Their story has a great HEA!

When Sawyer becomes the caretaker of AJ, a five month old infant, he isn’t very happy. The only thing that’s on his mind is his mercantile and revenge for the dead of his brother. Now he needs someone who can take care of AJ and it seems the only one is Emma Jean, the daughter of the man who killed his brother. Can he trust her to be different than her father?
Entertaining story about two characters who both deserve the best, that means each other.

I so love this series. They are short sweet stories

I couldn't wait for this book to come out and now I have another month to wait for the next in the series. Each one is different but follow the same theme. I loved the characters in this book.Who could resist a man learning to care for a baby.

Although a sweet romance, this book's most important message is having an open heart. Sawyer's attitude is understandable but he doesn't realize the one he hurts besides Emma Jean and Henry is himself. The whole town is following his lead in judging Emma and AJ guilty along side their father. The arrival of AJ forces him to take a hard look at his behavior. I loved this story.
