Some problematic plotting with this one, including jumps in time that don't make sense. The author seems to have deliberately made one of the guys fairly unlikable, and Elowen is just an annoying, weak character. It took me awhile to remember what happened in the first novel, as well. I would have liked to see more growth in Jade's character; it seems like she hasn't learned anything at all. The story is still entertaining, though, so I'll probably catch the next one.

Not a fan of this sequel.
Firstly, they were some typos which should have been easily edited. I don't know if there is an editor involved in this series but it needs a clear eye. I mean what the hell happened between chapter 15 and chapter 16? It makes no sense at all.
I didn't love Jade as much as I loved her in the first book. Here she was easily distracted. She was hurt when Elowen didn't tell her secret but Jade never really confessed to Elowen either... that "do as I say but not what I do" is quickly annoying.

I don't connect with the boys at all. They are assholes, hot assholes but still assholes. Jade is obviously in lust with them, the only one I tolerate is Darius but the other ones are problematic as fuck.

Still don't get the Bellas. Why write them as these stupid and shallow mean girls and decide they are these evil people? 18 years old girls who wants to kill people because they're not with the boys they want, yeah no thank you. Been there, done that.
Pretty sure there is a traitor in the school who spies for Bella and Orville and pretty sure Jade or the other ones didn't get the hint...

We have some suspense and of course sexual frustration. Jade is back at school to learn and of course her hunky guys are back to guard her. She still wants her professor. The Bella's are still spiteful, but they can't have what they want. Now there is kidnapping and killing. What will Jade do to get her guys? What will she do to keep people safe? What is she going to do with these Bellas'? Can she get rid of these guys watching her? Will they ever give into there feelings for her or always say its her magic? Her best friends seem the only ones she can trust or can she?

Fallen Master

The second book picks up as the new school year is about to begin, and Jade just wants to fly under the radar. It's a nice dream and all, but not gonna happen. She's still confused about her magic and the guys and who to trust.
I listen to the audiobook and the narrator does an amazing job. I look forward to the next one to see what happens

Great Story!

This was another great addition to this really great series. The characters are great and the story is developing nicely. Jade is still a powerhouse and knows how to kick some butt. The romance is slow burn but there is still some steaminess to the story. Enjoyable characters who get into mischief, create magic, and have some sexy times to keep you highly entertained!! I can't wait for the next one!!

Ok I'll start with Cleo, you know, the spork!! She is just the life of the party. She has a mind of its own and dam that thing is out for blood. She does whatever she feels like but looking closely, you see that it is all to protect Jade. Also, this leads to a lot of fun 🤣

Now to Jade and the boys. OMG I was dying for it! I craved it and it happened. I mean she got her first pick and she told them all that she wanted them, quicking yhe RH part of the story and oh gosh I can see Ryker's face from a mile, still trying to resist her but failing 🤭 which give is a loooot of hot moments 🔥🔥🔥. And Rocco, the sweet one and Thorn the protective one, and Darius the wise one... I'm eagerly waiting for book 3 to see how they will all cave in.

Last but not least, the backstory: I like it that there was a twist in who the villain is and to also see that Jade is driven by love. And for once, you will love to hate the Bellas more because these girls won't stop at nothing to get to Jades men but hey as I said we are thankfull for Cleo.

Bonus point for Topher. I hope to read his story ♥️♥️♥️

I loved this book! It falls right in place from the first Academy of Sorcery, the characters are starting to come out of their shells (by characters, I mean Ryker, Rocco, Thorn and Darius) we already knew Jade was pretty amazing.

A new character comes into play, a new bad guy is making their presence known and there's tons of the sexy slow burn you come to expect from a James book!

Make sure to read book 1 first so you don't miss out on any info.

An Intriguing, Character-focused, and Spicy Sequel

Between the mysterious happenings, the evolving romances, and the anticipation for the final confrontation within its pages, this second entry into this series kept the tension high and the stakes higher. It dove further into its characters and the complicated relationships between them, while also putting them through new trials that test them as both individuals and as a part of an unlikely team.

As this series deals with some possibly triggering material, a list of trigger warnings will be included at the end of this review, with a longer list of TWs also available at the end of my review for the first book.

Its fast-moving, character driven plot gave readers insight into the questions left unanswered from the first book, and also introduced more intrigue and mischief for its characters to contend with. This book balanced between lighthearted romance and life threatening danger in a way that felt natural, keeping both its characters and its readers on their toes as the book progressed.

With more danger and uncertainties ahead for its characters, this book ensures readers are properly invested and ready to jump into the next book as fast as possible.

TRIGGER WARNINGS:
Major spoilers ahead. Please keep in mind this list is only for the second book, and the information mentioned could possibly have different context in the next books.

Sexual Assault:
This book includes mentions of past rape that happened in the first book, with the victims constantly being reminded of their assault by both the abusers and the main character. Context is important here, so I encourage you to have a look at the end of my review of the first book for a more extensive and in-context explanation.

A brief conversation is had towards the beginning of the book mentioning the lasting impact the two week assault had on one of the victims. The rest of the time, acknowledging the trauma they went through is either glanced over and seen as an unfortunate mistake (which honestly seemed a bit like victim-blaming), or the assault is acknowledged by one character but brushed off since they had “needs” they would’ve taken care of with someone regardless, so being manipulated into a coupling wasn’t a big deal to them.

Conversations are eventually had that shed light on the fact the characters were assaulted, but those come after multiple mentions of the assault and how the MC felt betrayed by the characters even if they were forced into their choices.

As of now, the rapists are still interacting with the victims socially in school and often brag about their past assaults or get mad again at the MC for putting an end to them. In one case, a victim and an abuser are consensually intimate despite the victim knowing they were manipulated and assaulted by the very person they’re sleeping with.

This book also includes mentions of modern slavery (on page), brief hints of parental abuse (off page), a taboo relationship between a teacher and a student (on page), general violence (on page), lots of slut shaming (on page), misogyny (on page), a character being with another partner while in a situation-ship with the MC (on page), and a few homophobic slurs (on page).

Book 2 in James' Academy of Sorcery and Jade is back for another semester at the Academy along with her friends and guards she's up against more than just bullies this time. Just trying to fit in and be as normal as possible doesn't work for Jade because she's yet to accept how unique she is. This read / listen was so well done - I think I'm a little obsessed myself with this series. Narration was perfectly done smooth and easy to follow. The story line was captivating and entertaining with a good flow to the story line. Plenty of steamy chemistry between Jade and her guys who still have so much to give each other...I can't wait to see what will happen next!

This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.

Good

This was pretty much what I expected. While this story lacked the full immersion that I usually crave it's still a fairly good series so far. Jade is still learning how to control her magic and while she makes improvements in some areas she is still pretty much in the dark with it all. Also the relationship between her "potential guys" is basically non existent. Like its out in the open that she likes these guys and she doesn't want to choose but it was said in the middle of an argument and no-one commented on it. So I have no idea where anything is going except for with one of the guys. While this book felt it was building up to a lot !ore it also fell a bit flat at the end. There is still the threat that's on the loose and while I know why she is after jade now, I will admit I'm still interested in seeing this through.

I need more!!!

Well book two was just as good if not better than book one! I cannot wait for book 3 in this series to come out! I loved how this book didnt end in a cliffhanger but still left me with a few unanswered question and hints of more to come. This way I'm not freaking out about the end but yet still cant wait to read more! Perfect ending if you ask me when I have to wait awhile for the next book.

I absolutely love these characters but I really wish things with Ryker and Thorn would get a move on. I love all of these men but man I just want to see their relationship progress. I dont mind a slow burn romance but this is just killing me. Haha. Oh well just makes me want more!

I really enjoyed this story!! It pulled me in from beginning to end. The characters are complex and while her sorcery bodyguards are not the nicest to her I don’t quite consider them major bullies. They are all dealing with things and do not interact well with Jade because of things. In this one we have a breakthrough with some of the guys and while things are not great and not resolved with them, they are starting on their way. I loved Jade’s snarky attitude. There was plenty in this story to grab my attention and hold on to it through the entire story. I wanted to know what was going to happen next and I can’t wait for the next one to come out to see what happens between Jade and her guys.
I voluntarily reviewed an arc of this book.

This was an alright second book. I’m hoping the third one picks up more. It was good but there were some moments where it felt a little lacking and I wanted to smack the main character a few times so she would stand up for things a bit more. The characters are definitely fully developed which I enjoyed and made them feel even more real. I do love how sassy Jade is and I want way more of that. I definitely want to know what’s going to happen in the next book and am looking forward to see what Jade does next. Things are also starting to heat up and pick up with the romance. The action is good and keeps the story interesting. Very eager for the next book!

This is the second term in the Academy of Sorcery Series, a RH Paranormal Romance. The story continues where the first book left off. You have to listen to this Series in order. Jade is a fantastic character, strong, sassy, and smart. Her three powerful sorcerers guards, Rocco, Thorn, and Ryker, and the Professor Darius are handsome, protective, and intriguing. I like their slow burn romance. Asher is an amazing supporting character. The storyline is intricate, original, fun, entertaining, and intriguing. Marnye Young did a fantastic job with the narration. This is a good addition to the Series. Looking forward to listen to Shadow Magic, the next book in the Series.

Term 2, Fallen Master (Academy of Sorcery #2) was a great read by Alexa B. James. Jade’s magic has gotten her in hot water with four sexy sorcerers last semester. Her weapon is now her biggest supporter, even though she likes to go rogue sometimes. Everything is looking to go well for Jade, until she finds out that her dad has taken over her contract with her evil boss. Jade is required to stay at the Academy of Sorcery until she can learn to control her magic. I enjoyed reading this book and can’t wait to read more by the author.

The emotional rollercoaster continues, but this time with a side dish of badass!
The dynamics of the relationships in this series seriously keeps you on edge! With so many guarded characters it’s hard to determine who has genuine feelings and if/when they’ll fess up to them.
The steam in this book is next level! I needed a fan with how hot it got! And seriously love who the action was between! *swoon*
Hanging out for the next book already!

hard to follow at times

The writing is kind of all over the place and I find myself having to reread passages to figure out what happened. I have a hard time connecting to a lot of the characters and find myself forgetting who people are. It just seems like the plot isn’t fleshed out and it’s being made up as it goes on. However, I do enjoy the general idea and it’s a quick easy read with some smut. I’m going to keep reading just to see what happens.

This was an okay read for me. I was confused a bit because I thought they had Jade’s dad protected so I wasn’t sure how he was able to get into so much trouble. Jade is still wayyy too forgiving. Rocco, Ryker and Thorn are so hot and cold with Jade I wasn’t sure how to feel about them. Darius is my favorite.

Jade

Things are definitely getting serious for Jade. She's smart and tough but she has weaknesses that some people are trying to exploit to manipulate her...She's got a tough road ahead but it's all dry exciting as well as dangerous. I'm digging it and the twist at the end, oh my! Voice me the next book please.

I really enjoyed this book, it had a great plot, characters and very steamy, I finished it in one sitting. I really enjoyed Jade getting the better of the Bellas, and the sorcerer Silas was the perfect villain to love to hate. I can't wait for the next book, this series is addictive and definately one I want to follow. I received this book in exchange for my honest review.

Fallen Master: Year 2 (Academy of Sorcery #2), my second read from author Alexa B. James. I was given an Audible copy of this book and am voluntarily reading & reviewing it. Narrator Marnye Young's wonderful narration adds to the book's enjoyment. I again look forward to Academy of Sorcery #3. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).

I listened to the audiobook version of Fallen Master and feel that, on the whole it is well done but I would prefer there to be a clearer distinction between the characters voices.
I am really enjoying the plot that runs through the series and the individual one within this book. This is a reverse harem, so it is very steamy but woven well through the story.

Little Gem

This series is an unexpected gem. Jaded is an amazing heroine with some badass guys and friends. The story is intriguing with the right amount humour. I will be surprised if you don`t get hooked from the first book, an luckily all four books are available on Kindle Unlimited.

Daddy

Jade finished term 2 but not without some issues. First, her dad goes and signs a contract with Silas to work for him while she is in school. Lilith is still trying to kidnap her. The boys are still not forthcoming with their feelings.

Then, to top it off, someone kidnaps her father and now she must find him. Can she get over the boy drama and find her dad?

I liked the first book in the series, but this installment is lacking in my opinion.
The characters are still engaging, but the story is choppy and short on substance. The most disappointing thing is that it reads like an episode of Scooby Doo (complete with a "gang" reference). Don't think I need to read the 3rd book in the series.

Ok so I really enjoyed this story. I really like Jade and her men. Her little friend Elowen I really really hope she gets a backbone. I really want to like her but kind of hard too. I love the storyline and how it’s turning out. Really want to read more. Loving this series.
