Summer Secrets

Rate this book

Summer camp is for lovers in this fun, sexy read from New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Jill Sanders.

For Hannah Rodgers, running an adult summer camp with her four best friends is the ideal distraction from her controlling family. She’s worked hard to become her own woman, but now her parents want to marry her off for business reasons. What is this, the Middle Ages? Hannah would much rather enjoy the sunny delights of camp and flirt with Owen Costa, the hunky help.

But Owen has his own scheme working behind those beautiful brown eyes: he and his brothers finagled camp jobs with the hope of tracking down their father, an eccentric billionaire prone to sudden disappearances. Though Owen was suspicious of the new camp owners at first, his relationship with Hannah deepens, and he gets waylaid from his mission.

But Owen’s troubles soon resurface, and duty calls him away just as Hannah shares a delicate secret, leaving her shattered. Can they get over their complicated lives long enough to enjoy the romance they both want?

[Thanks Netgalley for the ebook. This review is my honest opinion but just another opinion, you should read this book and judge it by yourself]
I'm sorry but this book isn't for me (the whole series, in fact). I didn't quite enjoy the previous books because I couldn't connect with the MC and their love stories but I requested this book because of the mistery involving Leo Costa, that really catched my interest! Sadly, there's no mistery at all (I'm not gong to say anything else to avoid any spoiler).
Owen and Hanna's love story begins in the previous books but we can't see it in their book, Jill Sanders explains a bit and move forward very quickly. I must say I didn't like it because we cannot see the beginning of their love. And I must say we can't feel their love either. We know they lust for each other but little more.
I'm not a great fan of Jill Sanders' writing, therefore I'm always finding hard enjoying her books (my bad, of course). There's too much telling for my taste, a sucesion of uninteresting events that we don't need to know and a lack of dialogue that makes her books a bit flat for me.
I don't think I will keep reading this series 😞.

The Wildflowers are back in action and this time things are really heating up when it seems like someone is going to try to take out one of the flowers to get to one of the guys! Great plotting is taken to another level with great characters that you connect with and root for! I can't wait to see what happens at Camp in the next installment!

Usually books in series with a different couple tend to be stand alone and therefore easy to jump into the middle without feeling left behind. This is not the case with Summer Secrets. The story felt rushed, probably because there was so much untold backstory to Hannah and Owen in the previous books that it was difficult to connect with them. Perhaps also because of this, the premise was difficult to accept and therefore hard to connect with.

The reader is given a brief update on how the couple met, had a brief fling and then Owen abruptly left Hannah in the prologue, and the story starts when they are later given a chance to reconnect at which point they decide to take things slowly.

Summer Secrets is book #3 of the Wildflowers series by Jill Sanders. It is strongly recommended to read all the books in the series in order.

I have enjoyed this series so far. However, this story I struggled with. Even though I knew the characters from the previous books, this one would have been farfetched to be read as a standalone. As I mentioned, each book of this series is about a different couple but I felt like had I not read the other books then I would have been even more lost. There is a slight recap of how everything came to be but it still was hard to put the pieces together, not only as of the previous history of Owen and Hannah but in regards to the mystery of Lee Costa and the Wildflowers gang. When everything falls into place between these two it is fire because these two did have steam.

I would still read this book but I am glad that I had read the others first. I am still curious about where this series is going to go next.

Summer Secrets by Jill Sanders a five-star read that will bring the sunshine to your life. This is number three in the Wildflowers books and they just go from strength to strength, I adore Jill Saunders writing, she just brings a lightness and a refreshing joviality to these stories. The dynamics between the Wildflowers are some of the best I have read, usually with such a large group of girl friends there is one that doesn’t feel like they fit, but these girls live for each other, it’s a nice thing to see. Hannah and Owen are both strong people and both have other priorities, they have a history and sometimes that is something you can’t get over. This season is a difficult one at the camp, but it also makes great reading. Do not miss this series and Jill Sanders has written pure gold.

We got the last brothers story, and some surprises (maybe not) I mean I kind of said to myself this is what is going to happen so lets just say I wasn't surprised or outcome, but was surprised of relations, I am trying not to give up spoilers, when you start reading you will get my meaning..So we got the last brother, but we still have 2 girls left, so what to what to do..I kind of wished that we would have gotten a wedding, yeah yeah I know to soon, but one can hope considering they got together pretty fast..

4.25⭐

The Wildflowers are back, and Summer Secrets sets a whole different tone, as unlike the previous stories this one picks up after Summer Heat ends, with Owen having left Hannah, and his brothers at River Camp and returned to Destin to take control of the family business, whilst dad Leo remains missing. And for me, it truly was an enjoyable story, that although a little slow to start, soon picked up and became a fast-paced, engaging read, particularly as the mystery surrounding dad Leo's disappearance was finally resolved.

Plus with plenty of character growth and an enjoyable, sweet romance between main characters Hannah and Owen not to mention lots of time spent with the rest of the Wildflowers I was easily entertained; and I'm certainly looking forward to reading more from this series in the future.

Would happily recommend.

My review will be live on donnasbookblog on 18th February 2020 - publication day!

I thought that this was a little slow to start but definitely keep reading and it gets quite good!

All the characters worked well together and it turned out to be a good romance and "whodunnit"!

I thought that the story was well planned put and it had a great flow as soon as I got in to the story.

It is 4 stars from me for this one, I really enjoyed it!

~~I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads ~~

This is the third book in the series - and I would recommend that you read them in order, as the story is ongoing. The first two run concurrently, which was very effective at giving us the story from two viewpoints. Here, the same timed element of Hannah's story is explained in a prologue, and then we catch up - I have to admit I found it a little clunky, but as I knew the previous installments, maybe it was just because it was known to me. Once the story picks up in current time it was excellent and I read it pretty much in one sitting.

Hannah has a truly awful set of parents - just wait until you realise just how unpleasant they are. The fact that she knows this and has come to terms with it ... as best as any child can ... does not make their behaviour any less repugnant. Her true family are the four 'sisters' that she met at camp aged 11, and who now live and work together. I love how their adults only camp has grown into a reality, and after stopping the worst swinging excesses, they are making a fabulous success of running the camp. It may be a little slow at generating serious income, but it is a wonderful place to work, and once again is saving Hannah from the unhappiness of being in her family business.

As any fan will know the Costa brothers have been trying to find their father, and save their business. He has now finally turned up, and the drama unfolds in some very unexpected ways. I did guess at the perpetrator, but enjoyed the tension which was developed through the story. So many times I had to stop reading for a second or two, as I did not want anything bad to happen to someone I cared about. On occasion my wishes came true, on others I had to just buckle up and cope with the ride that Sanders delivered.

I loved the descriptions of the two big parties, and how Hannah created the illusions needed to pull off a really memorable party. It was fun to catch up with fantastic Chef, Isaac, and most of all see Owen and Hannah get the very best HEA that they deserve.

The brothers may now all be spoken for but there are still two Wildflowers who deserve their HEA too ... so I am very much looking forward to future installments!

This is the third book in this series. Hannah and Owen's story. Hannah comes from very controlling parents. They are all business all the time. They want Hannah to marry someone that will further the business. Hannah wants to stay at the camp she helps run with her four best friends. Of course, Owen makes her swoon. They flirt, they stare until they finally get together. When things seem to be going well Owen has to leave with no reasons given. Hannah was crushed.
A great addition to the Wildflower series. I really like this series and hope it's not over. I highly recommend this book.

Summer Secrets is the third book in the Wildflowers by Jill Sanders. The book is not exactly a stand-alone since a part of the plot is the continuation of the story from the previous books and I would recommend reading at least one of the previous books to get the chance fully enjoy this one.

While reading this book I got the impression that the tone of the book is different from the other two. It's a little more serious and the mystery behind the Costa father has finally progressed much more than it did in the previous two books. And for me, this is the best part of the book. The mystery behind the disappearance of Leo. I was not a big fan of Hanna and Owen's relationship and I found their romance lacking.

One thing I found also lacking was the part where Hannah's parents use her for business reasons. It is mentioned early in the book, but later it was pushed aside and I honestly cannot remember if it was brought up again later in the book. You see, I was expecting more from the book and after some point when the book did not met my expectations, I sort of gave up on it, until the suspense aspect of the story progressed.

Looking in the series overall, I saw a decline in my ratings for each book and I really hope that I will like the next book, which will probably be Scarlett's, more than I liked this one.

Hannah and her best friends Zoey, Elle, Scarlett, and Aubrey have been friends since they were 11 when they met at a summer camp in Florida. They call themselves the 'wildflowers.' Each of them have wealthy parents who try to control their lives in one or more ways, and their friendship saves each of them in different ways. It also gives them the courage to stand on their own and forge this new business--a summer camp for adults, and out from under the control of their parents. It's the same place they all met at as pre-teens, only now it has been repurposed. The camp grounds are filled with private cabins and plenty of activities for guests, with an amazing chef to run the kitchen and incredible themed social events for guests. They hire the three Costa brothers to do work at the camp, only the Costas are there under false pretenses. When the truth comes out, there are some hurt feelings, but eventually they all work it out.

Owen is the oldest Costa brother, and he falls for Hannah, but leaves her in a lurch after he gets some delicate information about Hannah and a phone call regarding his father and his business on the same night. He high-tails it back to his business office without even saying goodbye to Hannah, which leaves her feeling vulnerable and hurt. A month later, she runs into him again at his office, and he tries to explain what happened, but she's not really open to hearing it. Needless to say, things finally work out, but not without a few major issues along the way.

This book was fun and a fairly quick read. The characters are well-thought out for the most part. Owen's motivation for leaving in the first place is somewhat skewed, as he runs scared. He glosses over this issue, without really dealing with it, and then he is suddenly ready to pursue a relationship with Hannah. This didn't ring true to this reader. Regardless, events conspire to bring these two together and they discover that they are a good team.

There is some intriguing suspense during the last half of the book that keeps the reader hooked on the story. The villain is fairly easy to spot, in spite of a red herring that is thrown into the mix. These protagonists are put in danger a time or two, but justice is served in the end. There are several references to additional storylines that flow out from this book. Apparently each of the 5 women get their own tale, as two of the wildflowers have already found their HEA within this book. This book can be read as a stand-alone, and there are definite references to events that have occurred regarding the wildflowers and the Costa brothers. It might be nice to read them in order, but the story still flows, regardless.

Hannah and Owen have become close but just when they are about to explore the relationship that they could have Hannah shares something with Owen that has him taking a step back. When Hannah finds out that he has returned to manage the family business and that he didn’t say anything to her she decides to try and forget about him and focus on the camp until a legal matter that affects them both brings them back into each other’s world.

Owen is struggling to show the Board of Directors that he can handle the company until his father returns and when Hannah returns he realizes that what he really needs is her. We learn more about what not only drove his father away but is keeping his father away as well.

The suspense part of the story was more prevalent in this book than in the other books in the series and although some questions are answered some still remain. Next up is Scarlett’s story which I am looking forward to.

Heavy on the romance with some romantic suspense!

Hannah Rodgers and of her friends called the Wallflowers inherited a dilapidation summer camp so they decided to fix up the space as a summer camp for adults. The reopening of the camp had been at a perfect time because she needed get away from her parents and the running of her life. Owen Costa and his brothers are still looking for their dad and the missing money from the family investment company with Owen named as president temporarily while still helping at the summer camp with his brothers occasionally.

Hannah liked Owen when she first met him and now that her friends were getting serious with his brothers, she realized that Owen was much more than she thought. Hannah and Owen start to fall in love and with everything else that is happening and their love isn’t smooth.

I liked where each of the books in the Wildflowers series adds more to the story when each of the Wildflowers falls in love and I’m looking forward to reading the next book about Scarlett.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book from NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Owen and Hannah were amazing! I couldn't wait to hear their story and the conclusion of the Leo Costa saga. After the tension build up between Owen and Hannah in the previous books, I was excited to see how their relationship would play out. But don't worry if you haven't read the previous books - I think you'll pick up the story without any troubles (I'd recommend reading them in order to meet everyone though!).
Owen has buried his head in the sand a bit when it comes to Hannah and is utterly clueless at the beginning of the book. I don't think he realized that walking away was not as noble as he intended. And Hannah certainly didn't see it that way! They definitely had some bumps at the beginning to work out but once they did, oofta! Where's the fire extinguisher when you need it!
The more we learn about Hannah's upbringing, my heart breaks for her a little more. I loved that Owen seemed to want to erase those bad memories even as he had trouble comprehending her parents' actions. Owen's constant struggle with his father missing, being trusted with the company, and being good at a career that he doesn't love was a realistic portrait of learning how to balance the responsibility of family with the desire to just be happy. As he spends more time with Hannah, who is genuinely happy with the life her and the Wildflowers have created, he starts to wonder what it would take to be happy.
This book has everything - passion, laughter, drama, family, friends, and chaos that requires some police help. So much happens! In some ways, book 3 is the end of the first phase of Wildflowers. Some of the loose ends from the first two books are wrapped up in Owen and Hannah's story. With two Wildflowers left, I can't wait to see where Jill Sanders takes us!

This is the third book in this wonderful series and I know this because I went and bought the other two after reading this one I loved it so much.

Hannah is a member of a group of girlfriends who call them selves the wilfdflower's they have all clubbed together to buy an old summer camp and turned it into a camp for adults. During this time they have had help from the hunky Costa brothers and each of her friends as fallen for a brother (the other two stories) now she is realising that Owen Costa is pretty special in his own right. As the two of them start to fall in love she will have to battle her controlling parents and he will need to try to solve the mystery of his missing father and the money from the company With sop much going on will they be able to give their love the time it deserves.

This is the third book in the series and while I haven't read book two yet, it was easy to follow the plot in this one.At the beginning of the series we are introduced to five girls who come together one summer at a camp owned by the grandfather of one of the campers .They form a bond that has lasted through the years and the changes in their individual lives. This story picks up where they all own shares of the camp and renovate it for adult campers. There is a mysterious twist in the saga of the missing father of three of their workers and I have to say that my suspicion meter started dinging loudly when a certain character entered the scene. This book centers around the romance between Owen and Hannah and while I wouldn't have given him a second chance at my heart, she did and the results of that action trod throughout the rest of the book.Danger lurks everywhere and no one is sure who is trustworthy as the motive changes depending on the person involved. There are a lot of characters in the story, possibly as a smokescreen to throw you off the scent of the real troublemaker, whose acting skills are on point. The author was able to strike a happy balance between the romance and the mystery and while I am not a fan of suspense, I really enjoyed this one, especially when I was proven right at the end. This is an enjoyable read that didn't lag or jump too far ahead to make it difficult to follow. Netgalley provided this ARC for my untutored review.

This book is the third in a series. I read it as a standalone and felt that it did not affect the story. However, there are references to other things that happened prior.

Hannah runs an adult summer camp with her four best friends. She loves her job, loves that she gets to work with her best friends that she considers her sisters, and can escape her controlling parents all at once. Hannah has met Owen and she is smitten. She wants to be with him, but he has finagled his way into camp as a way to find his father. As Hannah and Owen become more serious, Owen's father resurfaces and brings trouble with him.

This was a cute romance story. Each character has their own issues that they are currently facing. Hannah trying to escape her controlling parents. You can feel the control they try to hold over her now and how she deals with it. I wish Hannah was more assertive, but based on her personality I understand why she isn't. the trouble that Owen's father is facing is predictable and I found it hard to believe that the characters could not figure it out. Overall a great story that can be read in a couple of hours.

Book 3 in the Wildflowers series.

Hannah is trying to keep her camp/resort open on a shoestring budget. She and her friends have in vested everything they have into this venture. Thank goodness that she was able to hire the Costa brothers so cheap! But the brothers have a secret reason for being there...they are looking for their father, who disappeared months ago and hasn't resurfaced yet. Their only clue is a note on his calendar to meet with Hannah.

Owen Costa is in trouble. He is trying to find his father, run their family empire, and work at River Camp. Plus, he is fighting an attraction to the very woman that he is trying to investigate., Hannah Rodgers. Pulled in too many directions, he retreats from the camp just as Hannah is getting close to him. Will he and his brothers discover why his father was meeting with Hannah? And will they be able to bring him home safe?

Jill Sanders writes easy to read stories with some surprising plot twists that will keep you on your toes.

I truly enjoyed this book and read in a single day, if you are not familiar with Jill Sanders and her Wildflowers series what are you waiting for grab it. I fell in love with Dylan and Liam and know Owen (*swoon*). We have Hannah who is running an adult summer camp with her bestfriends Zoey and Elle. From the first book Owen and his brothers are on a secret mission to find their father, an eccentric billionaire prone to sudden disappearances.
At first Owen is suspicious of the new Camp Owners but over time his relationship deepens with Hannah and she learns about their secret and finally understands why Owen and his brother were lying about being workers at the adult camp. After that both of them cant deny their attraction for another but someone is targeting Owen and he has to preotect Hannah.

This time it is Hannah's story. As the story starts we go a little back in time to when Owen suddenly leaves Hannah feeling lost and wondering if it was something she said that put him off.

Hannah is determined to just keep going and concentrate on the camp and trying to win the case against Ryan who was trying to sue the camp after she was fired. It's when Hannah is meeting with the lawyers that she bumps into Owen again, and the chemistry is still there, as strong as ever.

Owen realised the mistake he made breaking things off with Hannah and decides he wants her back, but to take things slowly.

The mystery around Leo continues, so Owen has to continue running the family business, but more threats and twists in the story come up, dragging the rest of his family and the Wildflowers in. Plenty twists in the tale, mixed in with the love story and the fun of River Camp. Great story!

Summer Secrets is the 3rd book in the Wildflowers series, and it's Hannah and Owen's love story.

Hannah and Owen start to develop a connection when he is called away to help solve the ongoing mystery of why his father disappeared (an overall mystery unfolding across the series). His two brothers both found their HEAs while trying to solve the mystery, but for Owen, is appears that duty is going to get in the way of his relationship with Hannah.

While each book is a standalone, I recommend you read these books in order for the mystery unfolding. Part of the charm of this book is that we not only explore the relationship between Owen and Hannah, but we also get the relationship of the Wildflower Sisters (sisters by choice), and the brothers. The family dynamics give as much to the story as the main characters' relationship does.

This is book three in the Wildflower series. It’s the story of Hannah and Owen. Hannah, with her four friends, run a adult summer camp. Where Owen and his brothers came to work, under false last names. But soon they found out that the brothers were looking for their missing father. In this book, Hannah and Owen grow closer. With threats and dangerous things happening, they try to find out who is behind it all.
I really enjoyed this installment of this story. I read book two, Elle and Liams story but haven’t read book one. This book was written well, and kept you interested. The beginning was a little confusing as it was sort of recalling what the characters went through in the previous books, so a person might be confused if they’d not read them. But over all it was a really good story and the characters where likable, and believable.

This is a voluntary review of an advanced copy.

Finally, the brother's see their father and we get the whole story of why he disappeared! There is lots of drama and intrigue in this book as Owen and Hannah get closer in this book as there are multiple attempts on each of their lives.

It is so hard to hear about how Hannah is treated by her mother and the expectations she just can't meet. How sad to think that she was ready to run away when she got to the camp until she meet Grandpa Joe.

It is so much fun to get back to the Wildflowers we have already see matched with these brothers and I hope that we see the other two get their future books! This series is so much fun and don't want it to end.

What an awesome addition to the series. Time for Hannah and Owen's story which gives us some mystery, danger and some sizzling sex. This story shows us how the Camp continues to grow and we still get to see all the other characters from the previous books however this is more focused on the mystery of missing Leo Costas. As Hannah and Owen's romance grows and blossoms they both also face danger with receiving menacing threats. Leo suddenly arrives back in town and things quickly escalate with murder attempts. Even though I guessed who the "baddie" was it was still interesting seeing how everything unfolded. An entertaining read.

Summer Secrets is Book 3 in the Wildflowers series by Jill Sanders. I recommend reading these stories in order and if you can, back to back. Even though I read them in order, it had been some time since I read Book 2 and it took me a bit to get back in the swing of things as this story literally just picks up where the other books leave off with very little overlap.

This was an enjoyable romance with a dash of action and a touch of suspense. Even though I figured out early on who was guilty, it was certainly entertaining and kept me engaged throughout. There are still 2 more wildflowers so hopefully there is more to come.

Summer Secrets is the 3rd book in this series which can probably be read as a standalone but I'd suggest starting with Dylan and Zoey's book. Hannah and her 4 besties run an adult camp (sounds fun!) and Owen and his 2 younger brothers are trying to find out what is up with their father and how things connect to the Wildflowers (the girls). If you like campy at times drama and lovey dovey goo, this one fits. I enjoyed it, the writing is well done and I hope we get Scarlet and Aubrey's books too.

3rd book in the series. Can be read as a stand alone which is what I did.
Five friends from childhood camp return and set the camp up for adults.
Friendship, loyalty from the five females and the three brothers who are searching for their father.
Two romantic relationships already established the third gathering steam and a fourth beginning against a back drop of disgruntled and violent ex employee with family secrets thrown in.
Relaxing and enjoyable read.

Summer Secrets is the finale (i think) to the Wildflowers trilogy and it does not disappoint. This focuses on the last of the brothers- Owen and Hannah. Summer Secrets really finishes the story strong with plenty of romance and tons of mystery. Unfortunately, the whodunit was a little obvious but the reasons why and the sheer craziness of it all was not expected. I recommend this book and the series.

One final thought- what about the last two Wildflowers?

Yikes...I have to be honest. I didn't finish this book. In fact, I only got 15% of the way through. The premise of the book sounds interesting, but the writing is just stilted and awkward. For it being a romance, I didn't really feel any heat between characters. The prologue was way too short to just lay everything out like it did. There was too much explaining and not enough inference in the writing. Moving on...
