Goblin Slayer joins Cow Girl on what was supposed to be a typical delivery expedition only to be ambushed by a horde of goblins. And what's more, this ambush appears to be the work of the Unpraying!
Meanwhile, Goblin Slayer's party continues adventuring in his absence. Per a handout from Apprentice Cleric, they head for the snowy mountains to the north, a region locked in a perpetual winter under the control of an ice sorceress...
I always love how with every new volume of the Goblin Slayer story we get to see the party undergo very different adventure compared to the ones they face before. And this time, we get to see the party head to another quest without Goblin Slayer leading them while the man encountered his own goblin-related issue by himself.
It was a really interesting situation, after all, to see Priestess and the other trio go on a separate quest while teaming up with different people... and see how they handled the situation on their own. And it was interesting to see how the two separate incidents turned out to actually connect to each other.
Like during the attack on the training grounds, we get to see a glimpse of Priestess' leadership as she attempt to save a group of newbies from goblin. And now we got to see even more of Priestess' ability to lead as they help out on a quest given to Apprentice Cleric by the Supreme God.
It was really amusing, to be honest, to see the reaction of the other members of the party... especially when it started to become evident how much of Goblin Slayer's methods and thinking had influence Priestess and shape the way she tried to solve a problem they face. It was really funny to read as well!
It was also interesting to see a situation where Cow Girl end up in a middle of a goblin situation, which was quite unlike the time when they went to the elf village.

In this volume we see Priestess shining brighter than her miracles. The story is really good, the character growth is well developed by the author and we can see how Priestess is gaining experience and taking her own decisions while supported by the party. There were a couple of parts that didn't quite fit. This volume could have been a very good moment to expand on Cow Girl, but unfortunately she was treated like luggage, no charactrr development or any significant actions taken from her. The second was the end, as some characters meet in the mountain, it was just so confusing and hard to understand what was all about. This is a point were the lack of names, and the use of generic terms like warrior, wizard, etc, make a mess of the dialogues. Overall a good book.
Normally in tabletop roll playing, you should never split the party but here Goblin Slayer and Cow Girl take a delivery of supplies to a snowbound village while Priestess and the others face a ice vampire and giants, with plenty of goblin slaying along the way.
This volume mixes up the characters’ groupings and tries something new but with its slow start, the action only really starts in the last three chapters. For once Priestess got a chance to shine and some much needed character development, though being based on role playing archetypes, there’s only so much that can be done in that regard.
As usual, the goblin slaying and adventuring is good fun and I continue to enjoy the adventures of this ragtag band of adventurers so on to the next one! There’re plenty more goblins where those came from!
One of my fave Goblin Slayer books. The part splits up, or at least GS is out with Cow Girl for something routine that of course gets turned on its ear... the rest of the gang help out some newer adventurers for a rank up quest that at their level would never have been possible on their own. And of course eventually they meet up for the finale.
GS got to spend some time with CG. Priestess took the lead of the rest of the pack and did alright. Some good action, some crazy plans that you should expect from the series.
Another successfully completed read. An interesting story that differs from the previous ones, but still an enjoyable read. We get to see how the party has grown and developed and see Priestess take charge in a dangerous situation. However I just love the way the author ties his story into the previous ones, whether through characters, magical items or simply the lore. It was a great read and I heartily recommend for fans of the series.
Very slow start, but the last 3 chapters actually redeem this volume. It's good to see some growth and development, but sad there was no progress in the overarching story.
Priestess grows on still ! In this chapter she exhibits her lessons and experiences as goblin slayer protégé’s as she leads a party into goblin slaying expedition Cow girl gets more time with her childhood friend. I loved the epic ending ! Onto more goblin conquests into the next installments!
