Beings of myth and legend exist. I would know. My name is Jack.
It's been one thing after another. I met a Sidhe woman on a business trip. It turned out she was the Winter Lady. Then I met her female lover. Then I discovered that I’m not exactly human myself. I am something called the Green Lord.
I married Myra, the Winter Lady. Her lover, Trina, is now my ‘Chief Concubine.’ I have a collection of beautiful Sidhe rejects as my harem and the love of both a Dwarven and Elven beauty. When I travel for business, my beautiful Indian fiancé comforts me. My life sounds like heaven!
That lasts until the Summer Lady shows up at a party to accost my family! After that, my mother-in-law, the Winter Queen, goes crazy and abducts several of my ladies! Then the Goblin King comes after my friends!
Hopefully, the training I’ve been doing is enough to handle this fiasco. It’s time for me to visit the courts of Faerie to straighten this mess out!
WARNING: This story is an adult fantasy for mature folks. As such, this story includes unusual interpretations of myth and legends, faerie violence, descriptions of genitalia, descriptions of sexual activities, mixing of US, UK, and Indian idioms, panamorous relationships, harem relationships, romance, BDSM, BFFs, cursing, off-beat humor, eating food while naked or partially naked, drinking, going to the bathroom, the insurance industry, the IT consulting industry, and many other things that might possibly offend someone in our judgemental society.
If you are offended by any of those things, then go forth to enjoy life elsewhere. I wish you the best.
JG Jerome, like his namesake main character, is a Kansas farm boy, old soldier, and 'IT Guy.' He lives, works, makes music, and writes in Arizona with his wife Heather. He dabbles in martial arts, fitness training, cooking, bread baking, photography, drawing, singing, and playing multiple musical instruments.
I just couldn't finish this. I stopped by chapter 5 because I was bored to tears with the continued saturation of filler sex scenes.
Everyone insta-falls in love with Jack and I'm not seeing any consequences or character development. I'm pretty sure Jerome is using new ladies as growth points for Jack to world build but that's immensely lazy and lacking in cohesion.
Jack is perfect. He do almost anything he wants. He's happily "in love" with a dozen women who miraculously love each other too. Done.
Book 2 starts off with action and almost never lets up. It starts with a slight power and time jump from where book 1 ended, but once past that bump you grind right into the plot. Book 2 is also much more about the Green Lord than about Jack. This isn’t a bad thing (and actually needs to happen) but I do miss all the detailed actions Jack took as he went about his normal life. This book has less detail in it but far more action than book 1 (no matter how you define “action”!) So while different, it’s not bad.
The story revolves around Jack’s bid for recognition as the Green Lord, as well as recognizing who Myra is. The complexity around that stems from just how very many women Jack collects and with their respective relationships with Fae court members, with each other, and sometimes with Jack. The title says it all, and is a good pun to boot. The sex scenes are much more frequent too, and while well-written, for me the sheer number of scenes began to detract from the story. (Yes, you can have too much of a good thing.) Aside from that quibble, again the plot was excellent, the editing fantastic, and the characters rich and delightful. Once again the narrative joyously wandered all over the place, but due to the timing of events, we couldn’t rest anywhere for long. (I hope this means we see the house built soon, and find out what makes dryads happy.)
Altogether a good read, and recommended - primarily for (18+) harem fans.
Very creative interpretation of fae lore. Would like to have seen more from Supreen and Tiphany since they are badass Naga & Valkyrie warriors. Also am intruged that Eileen showed up at the end with a lead on the Dread Lord and her jaw dropped when she saw Jack's harem. I did find that after awhile l was skipping through the erotica in order to return to the flow of the storyline. I am looking forward to the conclusion of the trilogy and then reading some of the author's other series. I recommend his Accidental Necromancer series as a new take on old perceptions.
I didn't think the first book couldn't be equaled but, dang, this is a hell of a read. I will go back and read this series over and over, it's that good, going to start the next one....Now!
I am enjoying Jack's story. The book is well packed with action, adventure and enough spice to fill a rack! Now I am looking forward to the next book! The Dread Lord. Read this series as I am sure you will enjoy it!
I have to say that this series is just getting better. His second book in the series (and his second published book) is a great addition to the alternate world of fantasy mixed with modern day America. I am really loving this series and have re-read book one a couple of times so far. This is a new author that you need to follow and jump on if you haven't already.
This will apeal to read of Laurel K Hamiltion, M Tefler, Michael-Scott Earle and Jan Stryvant to name a few.
A Great continuation from the first book. The characters got more rounded and the plot definitely deepened.I loved the first and I really loved this one also.I can't wait for the next book!
In epic fashion the story grows and deepens. I'm glad I got in on the ground floor of Mr. Jeromes vision. I love the attention to all the myriad details that go into making a life like this work. And the saga only expands...... Can't wait for more!
I was hoping for more action than we got. But it was a good fun read. I will be checking out the third one. From the ending of this one the third one should be a bit more explosive.
Stumbled across the first book and loved it so much I had to buy it so buying the second one was a no brainer for me. Great read and definitely looking forward to book 3
