FROM THE CURRENT KING OF THE FAST-MOVING, HARD-HITTING, SEXY WESTERN ADVENTURE! The Classic Sheriff Ben Stillman Series Continues... Sheriff Ben Stillman has enough of a hard time keeping the peace in the town of Clantick without having to worry about the likes of Matt Parrish. Since his father died, Matt has been responsible for the Circle P Ranch in the Two-Bear Mountains--and his hotheaded streak has been responsible for a lot of trouble with other ranchers...including his future father-in-law, Tom Suthern. Despite failing health and loss of profits, Tom refused to sell his spread to Matt, even with Matt about to marry old Tom's daughter. So when Matt is discovered in the presence of Tom's bullet-riddled corpse, people naturally assume he murdered the old man. Now, it's up to Ben Stillman to protect Matt from a trigger-happy posse and find the real killer--before it's too late and a powder keg of violence explodes in Three-Witch Valley… "Make room on your shelf of favorites; Peter Brandvold will be staking out a claim there.” —Spur Award Winning Author, Frank Roderus For fans of William W. Johnstone and George P. Cosmatos’s Tombstone, you’ll love this fourth novel in the epic, fast-paced Sheriff Ben Stillman series.

I have had the opportunity to read all of this series, this far and all stories have been outstandingly great. Ben Stillman is a man that considers justice as definitely the answer to end all major problems. Probably one of the most endearing series of outstanding western folklore adventures I have had the opportunity to read, as I never know what to expect next.

Definitely five stars worthy, as these very descriptive, and always heartwarming adventures, touches any reader's heartstrings with unending emotional connection. Each new book seems to touch me in anew and exciting family-friendly way, as each and every new character adds more colorful western atmosphere as the story develops. Mr. Brandvold's exceptionally outstanding storylines successfully portrays the individual's attitude towards their assigned tasks and their multitude of accomplishments throughout the entire story.
I enjoy the significant gunfights, encouraging romance and the compassionate camaraderie of the good guys, while the relationship of the bad guys is somewhat undetermined until the end of the book is very near. Too, in case you are interested, the relationships between the men and ladies can be a little descriptive at times and the language a little off color, but not excessive enough to be too demeaning, or offensive.
Definitely recommend this compassionately outstanding masterpiece of our old western folklore adventures too all readers, regardless of your reading preference, but especially to you lovers of endearing western excitement storytelling. Too, I am you will become as attached to Ben Stillman, and his entertaining entourage, as I have been. Most definitely worthy of you time!

A PB. Western Mystery Action Adventure (OLWA.38) (ASBSW - 4)

PB. has penned a western mystery action adventure titled "Once Late With A .38", which begins with a young rancher being framed for murder by his finance which puts him in jail. Sheriff Ben Stillman begins his investigation and finds he has no less than four mysteries on his hands. The first was the frame up of the young rancher. The second was cattle rustling. The third was the murder of a rancher and his lady friend. The fourth was one which killed one of the men involved in the mystery. The fifth were the rustlers and the final was the young lady who started it all. This is an excellent read for the genre.....DEHS

Reading Peter Brandvold for a lifetime !

I enjoyed every minute of the book. I couldn't read it in one sitting and I couldn't wait until I could continue! A mostly clean language while still creating a wonderful story of the days of the old west. Having all the thrilling, action, romance, danger, good guys and bad as well as beautiful women. Suspense until the end!!!!

Book 5 should be read before book 4

I just finished book 5 and everything came before book 4, Crystal was pregnant, the Doc and midwife were still fighting. In book 4 the doc and midwife were becoming a couple and crystal and Jody's son was 6 months old. Good books but Amazon or someone got the order wrong.

Good Book!

Though it is a good book it could have been edited better. A decent head doctor could have a ball analyzing the twisted characters in this story.

Great plot. This series has varying themes throughout. This one had a trashy start (which I hated) but things changed into a decent western mystery.

I've read several of these books in the Stillman saga and this is the best one yet. A surprise twist at the end (at least for me) brought it up to 5 stars. Well done Mr. B.
