When humanity can travel to the space and no longer restrained by the gravity, what will the future of mankind be? It's been over 2 centuries since the league was established, with the economic inequality increasing. While the Eden system is more like a lie, and it exiles the citizens with ""brainless syndrome"" to the margin of the space. However, even the hypocrite peace is peace. For most people, even they live with stupidity, they can still survive. Until the missile of the interstellar pirates breaks the silence of the night sky, then everyone's fate is at risk.

There is only as much as death I can take and apparently 4 volumes is all I can take. I have become way to attached to the characters and by the looks of it that is all I can take. I know there’s much more betrayal and deaths happening thus I took this as a sign for me stop. Maybe in another few weeks/months I may come back and finish.
As I’ve mentioned earlier Priest is the queen of world building and the story itself is on another galaxy in terms of its characters and the world building. If anyone who does not mind long complex characters that may stretch along many volumes, this is the perfect novel. If you are looking for a simple novel to quickly pass time, this is definitely not it. Take time and slowly read it. At the end it would be worth it.

I loved this epic tale about space battles, galaxies, and our two MCs. Lu Bixing was such a sunshine of a person and he made me smile and laugh a lot. Lin Jingheng was the mysterious one and yet we got to know him well over time and together with Lu Bixing’s heart he also won me over (in a relatively small amount of time). So yes, I was routing for them most of this book which means, I squealed embarrassingly when they first kissed. When they finally managed to become a couple that shared more than a bed, I was about to throw them a party because Priest really put the slow in slow burn in this story.

Equally mesmerising to me were the space battles. Their descriptions were so cool and whenever a fight took place I was glued to the book. The whole synchronisation with the merch thingy with mental and technical issues was such a fun concept. I would have loved to give this full five stars but found the parts were the reader was flooded with history and info dumps about the whole society sometimes too much and too long-winded.

Priest is still one of my favourite danmei authors because her sense of humour is unparalleled. Yes, other authors are funny too but not in such a high frequency. Even at times of despair the reader still gets little bits to laugh about. I love her for that. She also writes the best wingmen: Shen Yi in ShaPoLang, Da Qing in Guardian and here Zhanlu - who was the bestest AI ever and whose love for reptiles was right up my alley.

For a modern sci-fi danmei novel the plot was much more complex and layered than anticipated. I read Can Ci Pin coincidentally at the same time when an MXTX fan on social media said bullshit like other danmei novels have no depth and, your Honor, I beg to differ. This was exactly as complicated as historical court intrigues, the books cast was equally huge, and on top of it all there were lots of scientific concepts one had to wrap their head around.

It was a joy and I’m really looking forward to reading an official translation of the story. Don’t get me wrong, this translation was fabulous (THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPERB WORK, DEAR TRANSLATOR!), but some scene breakers and other means of official publishing would have helped me to follow along more smoothly.

Priest's writing style is not for me lol in the end i mostly forced myself to finish bc I've already spent so long reading this and i just wanted the story to end.

Some of the worldbuilding was interesting like the rainbow virus etc and i thought the ruminations of how ppl change after long periods of separation were okay but overall this is Not My Book, Not My Vibe, no stars

I'm gonna miss them SO MUCH.

The plot is a chef kiss and the romance on point.

Long live to LuLin.
