Yes, he was all kinds of fucked up, but there was someone worth saving inside. His heart was still warm and beating.

In the previous book, I was leaning towards Adie, but this one James captured more of my attention. I liked that he had a more difficult situation to overcome. Though it might not look like it, I thought Lois was quite a lucky girl lol!

I have more experience with fear than with happiness, and it’s starting to become a way of life.

Story-wise, I was hoping for something more. By book 4, I felt the torturing scenes needed something fresher and the plot could use a more rapid progression. Thankfully, The Tank intrigued me and has the potential to make the next book quite exciting.

Note: I’m starting to change allegiance to #TeamAlain. I can’t help being drawn the one with ambition and clear direction 😆.

Lois Reeves is well aware of the danger she now faces. Though she remains dedicated to her original mission of revenge, the likelihood of success is diminishing. Additionally, Lois must contend with her feelings for James and Adie, which further complicates their situation. Forced to adhere to the demands of a madman, they try to take steps to gain an advantage, but Alain Dumortier seems to always be steps ahead of them

“One of you will crack before long, or there won’t be much of Adie left. My money is on Lois. James has always been a fucking iceberg.”

In this fourth book, the character development continues to form layers revealing more vulnerabilities despite how hardened they are by their elite training. As the sexual chemistry continues to sizzle, there’s also some angst created by the push-pull dynamic between Lois and James.

“She can take everything I throw at her and then some. My lips and tongue continue to work her clit, while one finger becomes two in her ass.”

With a plot based in BDSM, the kinkery and darkness abounds due to the nature of these characters and how they are tested. I’ve always liked the tenacity Lois shows, yet she also isn’t infallible which is evidenced by some of her decisions. Though I was hoping for the plot to be propelled a bit more than it was, there were some hot scenes that sated my needs. Wanting to know what’s to come, the cliffy ending accelerates the need to read what happens next.

Fire is an erotic story full of action and intrigue. This series will appeal to those who like to play in the kinky playground. I look forward to reading what happens in Embers, the fifth book of this series.

Standing up, I put my gun back in my jeans, grabbed my plate and glass, and sighed. “Great. Pulling back for air a few minutes later, Adie murmured, "Ahh, Lois, you're such a sweetheart. You still don't understand this game we're playing, but you will soon enough."



We were neither friends nor enemies, and that left us somewhere in between - I just wasn’t sure exactly where.

This is turning into a well-done love triangle. In this book readers find out both Adie & James have one hell of a past. One thing I'm liking about this series is all the foreshadowing. Lois is in way over her head with these two guys. I'm enjoying the shifting dynamics between all three of these characters.

Alain comes into play in this book, in a major way.



A chess game is going on between all these characters. I'm on to the next book to see who comes out the winner.

Quick notes:

There were a few moments where I had to seriously work to suspend disbelief:

Lois healing very quickly from her wounds.

The "Sleep with one woman twice and she's dead" --> This did lead up to a couple really hot sex scenes, so that helped me suspend disbelief.

A couple other points that are helping me suspend disbelief:

The humour that's in this series! This series doesn't take itself too seriously. For instance, I chuckled when Alain said: “Oh, and don’t let them out of your sight. They’re supposedly trained assassins, but they’ve been trying to kill me for years, so I wouldn’t read too much into that.” lol.

I think with any book or tv show/movie that features assassins the viewer/reader has to suspend disbelief at some point just due to the nature of the material. This series has been a refreshing dark romance series to read because there's lots of action, I don't typically see spy/intrigue themes in dark romance, and it doesn't get too Over The Top when it comes to their missions/action scenes.

Warnings: A few graphic scenes depicting violence/torture (honestly, I've read worse, it's not that bad). Noncon & dubcon.

Fantastic!

I'm just loving this series more and more. The only problem with it is the cliff-hanger I've been left dangling on! The intrigue, the twists, the shenanigans and the scheming leave you reeling, just when one character seems to make some headway the other two are dragged into the pits of hell.

There are times when you don't know whether to kiss James and Adie or thump them, and in the middle of it all is Lois, trying to save her men and kill the bad guy. There are some disturbingly hot and kinky scenes, some quite dark scenes and one complete and utter incarnation of evil trying to control/destroy James, Adie and Lois.

The push and pull, the ups and downs, the highs and lows are amazing. The story had me on the edge of my seat, alternately full of anxiety, hot under the collar, angry, sad and just about everything in between. Ms Mandara has me utterly and totally hooked on this series, craving my next fix like a crack addict. All I can say is GET WRITING WOMAN, I need my next shot asap!

PS I'm also questioning her sanity or morality as surely no one should be able to dream up such a twisted story 😉 - but I love her for it and I'm glad she did!

She knows her mind, she knows her body, she knows her guns and she knows all kinds of martial arts, and she is not afraid to use them all.

What she didn’t know much about was the submissive/slave & BDSM lifestyle.
Her next job requires her to go undercover as a submissive slave in a very illegal and dangerous club filled with utter sick and cruel sociopathic cunts.

Five minutes with these guys as well as a pair of tweezers and a cheese grater...that’s all I’m asking!
Anyway, she needs to become a convincing sub who has at least 1 year of submissive training in order to get the highest bids in the illegal auction and then be shipped off to Carte Blanche (the slave club thingy) to find and assassinate the leader, Alain Dumortier.

So she goes to this company that specialises in training people in the BDSM lifestyle and that’s where she meets James.
Jesus-Fucking-Christ on a motorbike!

And...yup...I just jizzed in ma knickers...again.
From this point on her life got turned upside down and inside out.

SEX SCENES
Okay, if you’ve read any of my reviews, you know I like to pick my favourite sex scenes and post a wee excerpt.
But this series - every single book in this series - was packed FULL of the darkest, kinkiest and hottest sex!
I know it’s a lot to read but I’ve picked out two scenes that I kinda pulled a muscle reading…

Scene 1

“What do you think, Alain? Can we make her beg?” “Never had a problem making a woman beg before, and I don’t think tonight will be the exception.” Somehow, I had the awful feeling they were right. “Think she can take the two of us at once?” James asked. “Does she have a choice?” Adie raised his eyebrows. "No." James angled himself so he could slide his cock along my lips. Oh fuck. This was really happening. I let out an involuntary moan. "Okay, here's how it works, Alain. No cock goes inside my little whore until she begs for it first. Let's see how long the bitch lasts." Oh, God. Adie took James at his word, of course. With his cock pressed up tight against my entrance, he buried his fingers in my ass and pussy and began thrusting away happily. Although this series was chock-a-block with intensely sexy scenes and had no shortage of tongue in cheek humour, it also got extremely dark and fucked up. Which, of course, I loved!
I actually learned a lot while reading this series! Hahaha!
Absolutely loved it and will be adding all of C.P. Mandara’s books to my TBR mountain.

I loved this book!!!! It will make you downright uncomfortable and squirm-y in all its fucked up glory. Torture, pain, pleasure and manipulation....all mix up to give this heady mix of a book. The mind games were powerful enough to even make MY mind spin. Bravo Lois, that's all I can say.
Also, Can Ms Mandara please make Adrien real so I can take him home with me. He is a special kind of monster😈🔥

This was the best one of the series so far for me. James was more of a focal point in this one, so I'm guessing that helped some. While I like both Adie and James, James is my favorite. There is something about him I can't quite put my finger on. Maybe it's that even after Lois betrays him, he still wants to believe the best in her. He still has a soft spot for her and wants to protect her.

Lois is growing on me. Honestly, I think it's because her inner dialogue is so much less due to having multiple POV's. Her love for James comes through in this book. I love that she does some things she knows will upset him, but she really is trying to protect him.

These two are constantly fighting their attraction to each other. We do get some more answers as to why they don't/can't act on it in this book. I hate that she is free to do whatever she wants with Adie though. Although it's a love triangle, I think it's really clear with what man her heart truly loves.

Of course, the ending is yet another cliffhanger. Good thing the book is already out so I can continue on with the story.

I should preface this review by saying I haven't read the first three book of the series. I tried to start book 1 but the plot of this book got me hooked way more than the set up of how Lois, Adie and James got into this situation so I just briefly read what I needed to read to know what was kind of going on for book 4 and what I can say, I don't regret my decision. It was intense and hot reading this part of the series. The dynamic between James and Lois was something else and Alain is just pure evil when breaking down these three assassins. I loved Lois' strong personality and reading how Adie and James interact with her. CP Mandara does a very good job in bringing out ways to torture these assassins. AND it ended on a CLIFFHANGER that has me excited for the next book. (Now I should probably go back to books 1-3...)

I was so consumed with this book I forgot the world around me. It was overwhelming and painful, intense and scary. It can be quite out of comfort cone for the gentle heart. Luckily my deviant mind likes those kinds of things.
My mind was so messed up, I wanted to cry, scream and fuck or forget everything.
I hated the events and all the scheming, lies and trickery but still understood their decisions. There was so much torture, but still some stolen happy moments in between. The author is very inventive with sadism and pain. I really hope there is some light or at least more happy moments for them. Everybody is sacrificing everything in order to save others. But what will be the ultimate one? Can all three of them survive the monsters and mindfuck that is to come? I had such strong hate toward Alain, his ultimate power and ego, evilness and sadism are on the whole new level. He is also smart and not to be underestimated. I am not a sadist but I think I would enjoy hurting him and prolong the torture.
There is still so many secrets, unknown games I was wondering who is the pawn and who is pulling the strings?

I can’t wait for the next book, especially with the cliffhanger ending. I think it is time to slowly come to the finish line and count the casualties. It is time to end the games and complete the story.

This was a dark and violent story that was at times painful to read. Adie, James and Lois are held captive by Adie's sadistic psychopathic monster of a brother Alain. He takes pleasure in their pain and his brutal whipping of Adie leave him at death's door, while his evil mind plays mind games with their emotions. This is part of a series which I have not previously read but will definitely read to get more background information about this story. The drama builds throughout this story and ends with a climax which was an unpleasant ending that will keep me guessing until the next book in the series is released.

I love this action packed series and I couldn’t put Fire down this is so good! The brutal things that were done to both Lois and Adie is so twisted and is so graphic that you feel their pain. I can't wait to murder Alian myself! I don't know how much more Lois, James, and Adie can take of the torture Alain dishes out. Fire ends with another dreaded cliffhanger, the "torture" of these cliffhangers is killing me, I really want the three of them to have a happy ending. But I can’t wait until C.P. Mandara releases the next book "Embers". I am looking forward to find out what the next episode is going to bring these three.

What hell they have had to go through at the hands of dastardly Alain, I do hope he gets what he is due and there is a hea at the end. Who knows but what a story! Fabulous. This book contains every emotion possible, horror at the depravity, suspense, a terrific need for vengeance and we have to wait for the next instalment. Hope it comes quickly.

Wow...I did not think Lois's situation could get worse but the fourth installment in this fast paced, boundary pushing read has proven me wrong. What she, Adie and James have to endure is mind blowing. Alain is and evil, evil man who has not emotional depth at all. He is driven by his depravity. Lois is a extremely strong female protagonist who the mean should be grateful to have. The book on the whole takes you on this amazing roller coaster ride of shock, awe, frustration, hate and more, but it is oh so good! Can't wait for the next installment.

I cringed and almost couldn’t read some of the brutal things that were done to Lois and Adie, man’ Inhumanity to man has never been so graphically described. I really don't believe Lois really knew what she was getting into when she took this assignment. This is truly a crazy story...so imaginative that’s it’s been quite entertaining and I am waiting with bated breath for the next one...l don’t normally like stories with tough chicks, no safewords or love triangles, but I’m totally invested in this one! I also think I’ll read some of this author’s other work.
