Awesome!

The fastest and easiest book I’ve have ever read. I read it in 4 days! I can’t believe how ignorant I was of Viking history and Norse culture, its so huge, comparable to the British empire. The spread and influence of the Norse people, language and culture particularly to do with my country Britain was much much more than I thought. I am from County Durham and around here the attack on Lindisfarne (Holy Island) on 8th June 793 AD is common knowledge, but I did not know that it was the official start of the Viking age. My favourite part was the chapter on Norse religion, which is comparable to the Greek and Roman pagan religions and pantheons. This book is a must read for all, the British especially.

This read sucked for me. I had high hopes, but the literary aspect of it all was subpar. Repeated information, too many typos to count, historical facts (mixed in with some weird cursing) had me feeling odd. I honestly cried out of frustration trying to read this book, on different occasions, which is why it took me so long to read it. It was a gift, so I wanted to get through it. It was frustrating, but I still learned some things about the Norse, which was neat.
