introduction to the practice of lucid dreaming—including instructions on how to do it yourself.
Lucid dreaming is, simply put, the realization that you are dreaming. It is to wake up inside a dream, and to know that everything you see before you is a product of your imagination and consciousness. It can be disorienting, but once you know that, you can actually take control of your dream. Cyrena Lee, a longtime expert on the topic, takes you through the history of lucid dreaming from ancient times to the present. She describes the therapeutic benefits of the practice, from its use in eliminating sleep issues and increasing your quality of sleep to its role in rewriting past traumas and promoting creativity. She coaches you through exercises to remember dreams, keep a dream journal, fall asleep while fully conscious, and practice dream meditation and dreaming yoga. She even includes some advanced techniques, such as moving objects in dreams and talking to dream characters who can help you achieve clarity in your waking life. This exciting and accessible look at a growing practice presents uncharted opportunities for personal and spiritual growth.
One of the most interesting points of A Little Bit of Lucid Dreaming, is that the author teaches some of the basics of Lucid Dreaming, while also letting us know the agency we have over our real life. Essentially, lucid dreaming can help someone live lucidly as well.
I've been very interested, as of late, in learning about different ways to heal without medicine. I was really intrigued to learn that Lucid Dreaming can actually help heal the physical and mental health.
This was a really useful little book. I like how bite sized it was, while still giving so much useful information. I will be starting a dream journal, and venturing on this path of Lucid Dreaming.
A Little Bit of Lucid Dreaming not only helps you take control of your dreams but in turn helps you see how much more agency you have in waking life. The feeling you have from waking from an incredible dream can become more frequent by using the techniques in this book. But most importantly, you'll learn how to live lucidly.
Very easy read while at work, with lots of great tips and tricks. The cover and illustration was beautiful. A type of book you wouldn't give away because you'll find yourself going back to it and using it as a reference guide especially since there are a lot of cited sources which would lead the reader to more books on lucid dreaming.
this books talks about every aspect and nuance about lucid dreaming, i love it! you can learn how to lucid dream, learn why one wants to lucid dream, and learn the scientific factors behind it. there isn’t anything to criticize about this book in my opinion.
I liked that this book was a quick read. At this point I'm not really learning much on the subject as I've read several other books but this book did teach me a couple of new things.
There are 5 levels to lucid dreaming:
1. You're aware that you're dreaming but you just observe and look around in the dream.
2. You're a bit more conscious of your experience but it's hard to really cement your experience and you pop back into unconscious sleep really easily.
3. You're able to manipulate your dream, make people appear, change your dream environment.
4. You are basically in control. You decide what you want to happen before you go to sleep.
5. You mediate and connect with sacred things in the dream level.
Aaaand mugwort makes your dreams more vivid and helps with getting lucid.
It was great, overall had a lot of good information about lucid dreaming and how it works, also dives into more advanced concepts like remote viewing, how life is but a dream that can be controlled, etc. which at all very interesting concepts. I wish she would have given more details about the results of some of the experiments discussed in the book, but overall it’s a great introduction guide to the concepts of lucid dreaming, would recommend to someone getting started in the world of LD ✨
I feel like books that tell you why you should believe them in the first few chapters BEFORE they tell you ABOUT the thing they want you to believe in.... Are a bit full of it. It is informative to an extent, but the brunt of it is: tell yourself to lucid dream before you go to sleep and you can do it, and to practice, constantly question whether or not you're in a dream right now.
I typically don’t read non-fiction books but, this held my attention the whole time! I’ve been so intrigued by dreams and the concepts of lucid dreaming & this just made me even more interested. Definitely a book that I’d recommend to anyone who is interested in dreams!
