DNF. What kind of a 30 year old, responsible woman would, after her apartment burned down, move in with two complete strangers who were men who had already made her uncomfortable by hitting on her repeatedly? As opposed to taking a hotel room paid for by Red Cross or her insurance company? I've recently had a house fire and can tell you the Red Cross and insurance people were there on the spot to make sure we all had places to stay, including our pets.

And then, right after getting out of the hospital, still in such bad condition that she collapses on the bathroom floor after a quick shower, she engages in crazy sex with these strange men. Ewww. I just can't suspend disbelief that much. I bailed around the 30% read mark and am only posting this review to remind myself to never touch anything by this author again.

A free flowing story….

Though, I’ve never been excited nor scared as the chapters unfold, but I think, it’s still a good read.

A triad love story between Caroline and the twins…

Have a nice day everyone 😊

Includes Spoilers (and I’ve never, in all my years of reviewing, ever written a spoiler before this one, but it needs it)

It was an ok storyline. Lots and lots of potential, but it severely missed its mark. It was my first experience of the reverse harem shifters genre. Not quite sure about it yet. I did love how she used the identical twin thing to explain as to why they can share her as their mate. A bit of a twist but believable. Good job!

Loved the contrast between the two guys, you definitely knew who was who, and they were very strong in the story, which is good since one is the Alpha of the pack. I loved how attentive, protective and caring they were to an undeserving mate. Devin and Damon rocked! You definitely get a feel for who they are. Caroline, on the other hand... flopped.

I hated Caroline throughout most of the book. So sad since she started off as such a strong, confident, and heroic character to wind up being nothing like it. You’d think the mate of an Alpha, and his twin, would have a backbone and be just as strong as they are, wrong. WRONG!! She was so wishy-washy. Undecisive. And very, very immature. As in having no grown up common sense at all. It was like she had multiple personalities or something. Very weird. I rolled my eyes and said, “Ugh. Here we go again” a lot. LOL She flip-flopped so much it made my head spin.

She would go from “I love you and can’t imagine living without both of you (of course, that was ONLY while getting down and dirty with 1 or both guys ~ at the same time) to “I cannot give you forever, I’m independent, I have my own life, and I need no one (this is just after that euphoric bliss those same two men gave her wore off and disappeared)” in an instant AND it was constant. *cringe* 😬

Let’s just say it got old fast. The only time she wasn’t thinking of running was when she was getting pleasure out of the twins. If they weren’t touching her or f*cking her, she was looking for the nearest door. Seriously? Ugh. 😩

Her indecisiveness and backstory as to why she was “afraid of forever” was very weak and did not make any sense. Then when it came for the “big reveal” as to why she was scared or whatever it was this author tried to use as her excuse to run (note: there didn’t seem to be a clear cut answer, and I even believe the author didn’t even know herself or started out with one reason, forgot and gave her a new reason mid book), it just didn’t make any sense whatsoever. Her parents died, but she was afraid she wasn’t good enough for them, and that they’d leave her when they figured it out. What? Her parents didn’t abandon her, they died. What’s the correlation here? Two completely different issues. 🙄

So she runs away. Finally. But of course there’s danger that she doesn’t even really acknowledge or care about (see the immaturity? She was told all about it and never left in the dark) and guess what? That’s right, the big bad wolf caught her. 🤦🏻‍♀️

So she “called out” to the two mates she had just broke it off with, rejected, and ran away from to come rescue her. Of course. But, if you can believe this, this part really didn’t make sense. Yes, she was in danger. Check. Yes, her mates showed up and killed her attacker. Check. And yes, it all ended happily ever after (check) BUT why???? 🤔

There’s no epiphany, no reason, no indication as to why she suddenly changed her mind. None. It’s like the big final climax and then the writer just gave up and BOOM, we have a wedding.

What made Caroline decide to stay and marry the twins? No one will ever know. Shoot, I don’t even think the author knows. Maybe she just got tired of writing such a weak character she just wanted the book to be over.

I wanted so much more out of her, especially with how she started out as in the book. She’s not a good character to be an Alpha’s mate.

All I know is that I’m not planning on buying anymore books from this author. I had a VERY hard time finishing this book but I kept the hope that Caroline would grow the f*ck up and come to her senses or finally figure out what the mating bond meant (note: she was told multiple times by numerous people but just didn’t understand, couldn’t comprehend or was just that immature and selfish, and that was weird and very painful to read over and over again).

When all I got was ~ dangerous scene ~ should I/shouldn’t I ~ s*x ~ should I/shouldn’t I ~ s*x ~ should I/shouldn’t I ~ s*x ~ should I/shouldn’t I ~ s*x ~ should I/shouldn’t I ~ s*x ~ should I/shouldn’t I ~ s*x ~ dangerous scene ~ rescue ~ wedding. Ta-da! Incomplete story. I knew I should’ve quit reading it long ago.

But... now you know.

Caroline Trainor's only thought when she braced the fire in her apartment was to save her neighbor and her little boy. Caroline has no family and although not related, they are the closest thing she has, protecting them is her only thought even if it costs her her life. Waking up to find Devin and Damon Gray in her hospital room, she is confused initially, until they make it clear they are not leaving. Caroline feels like she stepped into the twilight zone, she doesn't know these men and words like mate are flying through the air.

Devin and Damon never planned on having a mate, but even through the flames he knew who she was. Now that they found her they have to try and tame their temperamental mate who seems determined at pushing them away.

This was a lot of fun, discovered it accidentally but well worth the read. The twins are a hoot because one is the more gentile while the other is a hothead who is used to being Alpha and his word is final. Can't wait for the next one, could definitely be a series that you can't get enough of.

I'm not really sure what to say about this book. The author came recommended to me, but I'm not sure I'll read another book by her. The writing left a lot to be desired and there was a lot of tell instead of show and was really flat in areas. The concept was a good one, but the back and forth of Caroline was really annoying after a while and she never really seemed to delve through her issues, which it's reasonable to assume she'd have trauma based on her past.

I thought this one got better towards the end, but I just had to force myself to read through the first quarter of it... I didn't give up totally because others had given it good reviews.

Frankly, Caroline's backstory was my **major** problem with this book.

No one who died in the World Trade Center disaster was denied benefits (to the survivors) because their bodies weren't recovered. Also, people who worked for insurance companies like her parents, would be 99% likely to have some sort of life insurance, especially because coverage would be part of their benefits package.

For Caroline to have to pay off their debts in addition to her own school loans is just not believable, IMHO. This is aside from the fact that children are under no obligation to pay off their parents' bills if they die. The estate must, but once that money is gone, unpaid bills just don't get paid. Additionally, this wasn't a TSTL woman, having made it through nursing school, so how likely was it that she wouldn't get an attorney and settle this like everyone else did?

The probable scenario would have been that Caroline would have received enough to pay the debts and mostly put herself through college.

Because the above was a major reason for Caroline's lifestyle and angst, it made all of that invalid to me. I didn't have many problems with her character because she seemed good-hearted and kind. I can understand the problems with parents that are wrapped-up in only each other because mine were like that, especially my mother.

Also, it was difficult to tell exactly where this story takes place... I am assuming somewhere in the Midwest, even though Caroline's parents were in NYC.

I think this series might get better but it's important for an author to gets things straight when they write a book and this WTC scenario is just practically impossible to imagine. I really wanted to like this more...

Fire of the Wolf by Lori King is the first book in her The Gray Wolf pack series. Each book can be read as a stand alone but each book does feature recurring characters. I read the series out of order and had no problem understanding and enjoying the story line.

In Fire of the Wolf, firefighters and werewolves Devin and Damon Grey rescue Caroline Trainer from a building fire and discover she is their mate. With baggage in her past weighing her down, Caroline isn't quick to jump into mating with the brothers. Fire of the Wolf has an interesting plot with a bit of drama, a villain, and some very hot bedroom scenes. If you are a fan of paranormal romance, I highly recommend this series.

Two brothers, wolf shifters, and one lucky woman! The sexual tension is incredible throughout the story, and I couldn’t put it down. Very well written. Lori King is an amazing new talent. When twin werewolf brothers meet the woman they both know is their mate, they go after her, sensually and lovingly, but she’s carrying a lot of baggage from her past. The love scenes are hot and well written, and the romance between the three warmed my heart.

I bought this the first time it came out but didn't leave a review. Now that it has a new cover, I bought it again and the story is just as good as I remember it. If you love menage and paranormal, I highly recommend this book. The emotions just sucked me right into the story from the first page.

Idk that this deserves even 1 star, but I'm in a good mood I guess.

Heroine is dumb, TSTL at times. Her "bills" aren't ever explained, other than it's once mentioned that she has student loan debt. This is relevant because it seems like she has more and that's why she freaks out, because she needs to work and have a life so she can pay bills? Idk.

Also, this really shouldn't be a spoiler because when you have sex without condoms, well... She was so anxious about starting a family and waiting till she was settled but at no point did they talk BC or prevention. Very confusing.

Escaping a burning building is well done... Then the characters are inconsistent in their abilities to actually think and process information and make rational decisions.

Honestly, it started off okay. I started having issues with it about 1/3 of the way in. I believe I developed a strong hatred for all 3 of them not much further in, they're all so stupid, no common sense at all. From start to finish I think this book took place over 3 days. 3 DAYS! This was a dumpster fire.

Spoilers.

She's super flip-floppy. I swear to god she went back and forth like 20 times on I can't be with these people because they're super controlling to wanting to do nothing but fornicate with them like nothing else could possibly be on her mind.

She meets their friends/pack on day 2 and immediately starts thinking about how hot they all were and how she would like to bone them too.

The guys are also really stupid. 'Oh guuurl, we'll do anything for you. I can already imagine you riding my twin brother as i watch, cause I've never thought about that before but that's not weird at all' Right. There was like one point where temporarily decides that she's all in and wants to be a part of their lived (just after meeting their friends on day 2) where they casually start talking about murdering a dude. I mean sure, the dude deserved it in the end, but no reaction? Really? Wtf is wrong with this chick.

Another point where she calls up her one and only friend, (morning of day 3? Day 2 evening? I don't remember there was 100 events in the span of 3 days) tells her she's madly in love with both of them and is happier than she's ever been. Her friend barely even questions it! "Gurl, are you crazy? You've only known these dude for a couple of days, they could be serial killers. But they hot though, you do you! I have no thought in my head regarding you having a threesome long-term relationship with a couple of twins"

I had to skip over most of the sex scenes cause they were so bad. A lot of it towards the end just so I could end my suffering. The epilogue was trash.

Ughhhh this hurt to read. Why did I commit myself to finishing it. I wanted to burn my KOBO so I wouldn't have to deal with the cringefest of this stupid book. I thought I was going to lose my mind. Never in my life have I talked that much out loud while reading a book.

Phrases I've said while reading this (bitch referred to everyone. All's fair here):
"Bitch why you so dumb!"
"Biiitch, you stupid! Why you so stupid"
"I don't understaaand."
"Whyyy, Why are you doing this"
"what's wrong with this person? Who writes this!"
ect.

Sizzling Double Pleasure!

Woo! Talking about one Lucky Lady! Nurse Caroline Trainor experiences a thrilling life changing fate with twin werewolf brothers “Devin and Damon Grey” whom have claimed her as their mate.

The story grabs you immediately as Caroline puts her own life at risk while rescuing her neighbors (A Mom and young son) from their apartment fire. Caroline’s life is pretty dull and she never in her wildest dream thought that sexy men such as Devin and Damon would go for a girl such as her but when she comes too in the hospital her fate becomes a whirl wind when Devin and Damon confront her and explain that she is their mate.

All kinds of emotions unravel and Caroline’s fears unravel as she fights her past baggage. Devin and Damon ignite a fiery passion that not even a normal fire fighters hose could put out. Their erotic scenes sizzle off the page and will have your toes curling and bud’s perking as you seek your own relief (5 Flames).

Loving two men is one thing but loving two men that are were-wolves is another. The plot is full of excitement as Caroline makes her adjustment to a different lifestyle and Devin the Pack Alpha deals with a challenge to a fight with a risk of losing his Pack and his mate. With Damon as Devin’s second and the other Beta’s watching his back, the story becomes very entertaining with humorous bantering and flirting that keep you glued to the pages.

The writing is easy and fast flowing giving the reader a clear visual as if in a movie theater. I loved all the characters; of course I have a favorite out of the twins. Devin though the Alpha was the typical Alpha but I found Damon the more passionate one for my taste and I noticed he was the one who calmed Caroline down the most.

Overall, this is one sexy hot read and I highly recommend it to all Erotic Paranormal Romance Readers. I look forward to reading more of Lori King’s work.

Excellent Read!

Due to unresolved pain in her past, Caroline Trainor runs from the arms of the men she’s grown to love right into the arms of their enemy in this captivating paranormal romance.

Devin and Damon Gray want to give Caroline time to accept that she is their mate but with a lethal challenger gunning coming for Devin time is running out and the reader can’t help but get caught up in this topsy turvy romance as Caroline struggles with her fears. The chemistry between Caroline and her two wolves sizzle with some red hot heat and the sex scenes burn up the pages with scorching ménage sex scenes but Caroline has a lot thrown at her in a very short time period and along with her personal demons, she has hard time accepting the happily ever after part of the relationship. Theses strong, compelling characters grab the reader’s attention from the very beginning and the fast paced smooth flowing plot keeps readers on the edge with suspense, excitement and romance

A lethal alpha has decided he wants Devin’s pack and he couldn’t have come at a worse time because there is no doubt that he’ll do whatever it takes to win including endangering Devin and Damon’s new mate which has expectation and excitement building throughout the story right alongside all of Caroline’s emotional turbulence. Vivid imagery captures the imagination and draws the reader into the story while the intriguing events ensure that they can’t put the book down.

Can I just say, WOW! How lucky can Caroline get, she gets not one but two sexy werewolves that are also fire men. Oh my my! Where was I? Oh yeah, I was completely caught up in this introduction to the Gray Pack, the story started off with pulse-pounding action and kept me on pins and needles until the very end and what a nice ending it was too…yum!

Caroline’s life is thrown into the depths of hell when there is a fire in her apartment building. Her cherished friends also live there. The sexy angel who comes through the smoke to save their lives is the answer to all the questions she never dared ask.

Damon is shocked to find his mate in the middle of a fire, but not as shocked as when he discovers she is also the mate of another. Can he accept she belongs to another, or will he lose his mate before he can even claim her?

When Damon and Devin claim her as their own, will Caroline be able to accept the changes to come, or will she run? There is another who seeks revenge and believes Caroline is the perfect means to achieve it, and only trust provides the opportunity for the three to overcome.

The dynamics between Caroline, Damon, and Devin are ones to relish. From the beginning Caroline struggles with the changes, but her strength guides her. Fire of the Wolf is a buffet serving up a cocktail of emotions sure to drag the reader in and emerge them in the lives of the characters. I found the writing to be superb and the story moved smoothly along with no bumps to minimize the entertainment factor. Ms. King provides one sinfully sexy story of ménage paranormal story.

This is not the first shifter story or ménage that I have read, but combined it is one really hot story! Lori King does a wonderful job of introducing and making us get to know and live the Gray Pack. Did I mention that these already hot wolves are firefighters, can it get hotter?

Devin Gray is the Alpha or leader of the Gray Pack. He and his twin brother Damon meet and find their mate in Caroline Trainor. Yes, I said their mate. Caroline is rescued from her burning apartment by these hot shifters. Then wakes to find them taking care of her and being told that she is their mate. Trying to adjust to all of this new information, enter a rival Alpha wolf from another pack. Now to protect Caroline, while she tries to protect her mates.

Cannot wait to read the second book about Tina and Liam. Lori King set the stage or many new books as we get to meet more wolves in the Gray Pack.

I am so torn on how to rate this book. I’m torn because while I really wanted to love this book, I couldn’t find it in myself to do so. One MAJOR issue that I had with the book was Caroline’s backstory. According to the book Caroline was so broke that she barely could feed herself, yet she was a nurse. She was so broke because she was not only paying back her student loans, but she also had to pay back the debts that her parents had before they were killed in the attack on 9-11?

Caroline, Devin and Damon... Twin hot firefighter shifters and a damsel in distress! Dear Lord... this girl needs to be doused with a fire hose in more ways than one. I have to admit, menage is my very favorite genre to read, especially when there is a story to it, not just a short read. Give me some muscle packed twins, make them hot as hell firefighters and Alpha Males and the icings on those cupcakes... WOLF SHIFTERS! My Oh My... Caroline didn't stand a chance; Rescued, seduced and taken for a 5 alarm ride. I took this book away with me for a weekend of R&R down the beach, figuring I would read it here and there. Yeah Right! I read it in 24 hours! Could not put it down. Can't wait for book 2. Thank you Ms. Lori King... You sure do know how to write a girls fantasy~

DNF 50% Weak heroine - Caroline turned into a doormat. She said she was independent but did not walk her talk. She did not like Devon's controlling behavior but ended up giving in when he seduced her into having sex. He demanded without explanation. Being the Alpha wasn't an excuse. Caroline allowed Damon to take Devon's side and calm her down.

Illogical plot. Her parents died in a World Trade building on 9/11. Caroline was left paying their bills which would be incorrect because she would have received insurance money and a settlement.

Sex scenes weren't that erotic.

Not continuing with this series.

From the moment you start this wonderful novel, you are met with the fact that this story has depth of characters that make you want to stay up all night until it is finished. It was so good, in fact, that I stopped writing my own novel to finish up Ms King's! It is a must read for anyone with a penchant for the wolven genre and I highly recommend it to all who want a storyline that sweeps you away. Cannot wait to start book #2 in the series. This was a wonderful fast paced read that gives you an introduction to the Gray Pack Series by Lori King. It is a well balanced story with detailed characters, suspense and steamy sex. There is great dynamics between Devin, Damon and Caroline as they come to terms with their instant attraction. As Caroline tries to come to terms with her desire for both twins, they try to protect her from an evil enemy. Enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more in this series.

Unsure of thoughts

Because although the story line was funny, it is weak. Things didnt add up. The book is a mix of wer wolf and soft porn. All wild storys, NO wolf shares a mate. And the way Devin acted sooo worried about the fight as if he was going to face a powerful wer. It turned out the complete opposite. It was funny though.
