The Fallen Cross Legion #2

Fallen Captive: A Fallen Cross Legion Novel

Rate this book
Held captive from birth for crimes ultimately committed by another, the Vampire, Nox, escapes the Primeval only to spend his first hundred years of liberty searching for somewhere to belong. The last place he imagined he'd call home is with the Fallen Cross Legion, a military faction serving the very entity responsible for his wrongful imprisonment. The only complication is the fire-haired female who saved his life, if not his eye. From the moment she laid eyes on him, Rachel found herself drawn to Nox. However, the loss of her human husband after a lifetime of devotion left her with no desire to put herself through that brand of heartbreak ever again. She doesn't need a male in her world to feel complete. When the Primeval demands an audience with Nox and the Legion Warriors, they find themselves far from home and at the mercy of a madman. Compelled by the Seer blood running through her veins, Rachel joins the Warriors on their journey to London, knowing full well they'll be lucky to escape with their lives. But her heart has betrayed her, and Rachel knows she must do whatever it takes to protect the male she loves.

I've made no secret of how much I love these books. Each one has touched my heart. Each book somehow gets better. Fallen Captive though...it reached another level entirely. There were some surprising deeply personal connections for me. I had to stop reading for a bit because it punched me in the heart and followed that up by stealing my breath. I can't explain without spoilers and I've never before been so tempted but...read Aliya DalRae's books. Heart, mind, and soul. They're all there spilled upon the pages like one of those huge mosaic puzzles. The pieces intrigue but hold their mystery right to the end.

Like comfort food in reading form. That’s what this story feels like to me. There’s plenty of angst, betrayals, intrigue, and danger but the characters feel like warm, comfortable companions. Fallen Cross feels like a second home and the legion’s warriors have become family. We want to cheer their triumphs and grieve their losses. I’m a huge fan of anything Author DalRae writes, and this volume is one of the best. Plenty of page-turning action along with hints and teases for future possibilities. Perfect pacing done with witty, sarcastic, endearing dialogue. Highly Recommended!!

I’ve fallen hard for all the characters from Fallen Cross. They’ve become very real with incredible heart and souls.

I love Rachel and Nox. Their attraction to one another, was apparent in the last book.

The author has a way with words, and her story telling keeps you on the edge of your seat, either smiling, laughing out loud, or biting your nails.
Another great read. I can’t wait for the next one.

Merlin, The Shade?

Another suspenseful story about the Vampire Legion with twins Nox and Raven but also the sorcerers involved with their mind control antics. When will Raven and Jessica’s be born and will it survive? Why must Merlin leave and what is the “Shade” and who is out to kill him. Never a dull moment in the entire book.

I love reading about all Aliya DalRae’s Fallen Cross Vampires. This book tells the backstory of Primeval's torture and enslavement of Raven's twin Nox. After he escapes to Fallen Cross and becomes a stabilizing force for his twin's monstrous edges he realizes he must return to solve other problems. There is love, adventure, danger, heartbreak and so much story you won't want to miss.
