Grounded in psychology research but with a practical focus on organizational behavior issues, Group Dynamics for Teams helps readers understand and participate in teams more effectively in day-to-day work. Best-selling author Daniel Levi and new co-author David A. Askay thoroughly examine basic group dynamics concepts, such as goals, norms, cooperation, and communication, as well as review the main challenges that teams face, such as conflict, decision making, problem solving, creativity, and valuing diversity. Throughout the book are discussions of the organizational context of teams, including the impacts of organizational culture, virtual teamwork, rewarding teams, and team building.
For a textbook, it really wasn’t that bad reading. 4 stars in the world of textbooks, 2.5 stars for actual enjoyment. Only wanted to rip my hair out like once
Really found this book well done and pragmatic. Shared it with a principal leader that is building professional learning communities in their school. Will use this book in the future in regards to frameworks and methods.
The only textbook from this semester that I'll buy to use for my own reference. Terrific compilation of terminology and research on teamwork and leadership dynamics. A must-read for anyone in workplace settings.
Unfortunately not a very in-depth textbook. Seems to skim over concepts with as minimal description as possible. Difficult to relate into real-world scenarios.
