The Dry Fasting Miracle: From Deprive to Thrive

Rate this book
In the olden days, people ate early because there was hardly any light after sunset. Their next meal would only be after sunrise. This practice spread to all religions as a discipline due to its health and spiritual benefits. Today, it is called the dry fasting diet-the most superior form of fasting and cleansing for the body. Replicating it requires abstinence from all food and water for twelve hours or more.
Luke Coutinho and Sheikh Abdulaziz Bin Ali Bin Rashed Al Nuaimi teach us how this diet can stimulate the body, help one find the right balance between the 'elimination phase' and the 'building phase', aid weight loss and help avoid a number of diseases. From beauty to general well-being, discover the miracle of dry fasting and the route to a new you.

When Siddhi (@book_gobbler) told me that the book was related to health, I couldn't stop myself and accepted to read this and I feel blessed to have read this one.
.
Past two months have been tough for me since I have fallen sick alot of times and I just wanted to get over with it and make my body healthy. Back in June my friend did tell me about this intermittent fasting and I have even done this for somedays. I absolutely agree with whatever is written in the book, on the days when I did this fasting:
1) I felt light and fresh. My body felt active.
2) I did not sleep during the day instead my mind was alert.
3) Sometimes I get pain in my legs and that too had stopped.
.
With our increasing intake of junk food, we have started to mistreat our bodies. This book exactly tells us that our bodies are capable of cleansing itself if we give break to our digestive system for almost 14-16 hours.
Benefits of this fasting are:
1) Detoxification of body
2) Cures side effects of chemotherapy.
3) Cures PCOD
4) Cures body joint pains
5) Makes your skin glow and your hair strong and shiny.
This book also tells us from where this concept has been initiated and how it has helped people all over the world.
Real life experiences of people have been shared in the book.
This book has been a boon to me.

I will suggest this book to everyone. How we have lost the old rituals in the world of binge eating and eating nonstop to satisfy our taste buds. The age-old ritual of fasting was practised for health, spirituality and healing.
We all need a break from everything, we go out for weekends but how about giving a break to your body so that it will heal and make you stronger for coming years. Happy reading.

Fasting as a concept has been around from time immemorial; as its stated at the start of the book, during stone age, humans had to hunt for their next meal and had to fast till they found their next prey. Come to current times, the irony is the unlimited access to food and beverages round the clock which is resulting in humans consuming food at odd hours resulting in unexpected damage to human body. This book reiterates the known and proven advantages of fasting which are lost over the years.

It is popularly known how fasting is an integral part of religious rituals and is ingrained from early childhood as a practice. Similarly, we would have heard from our grandparents and elders that fasting, especially while sick, can help the body heal. This book explains in a scientific way why fasting was advised in both the above scenarios and the secret behind it. The basic concept of dead and sick cells thrown out of the body allowing for new cells to be generated during the fasting period is the reason for it to be believed as anti-inflammatory and hence help dealing with a multitude of issues faced by the body.

The book also has multiple testimonials of patients who have consulted with the author Luke and have seen remarkable improvement in their health conditions. There is a FAQ section as well as multiple references at the end which can be referred for further reading and research. If you are wondering what more can the book teach when fasting is a universally known concept, the book clears the myths about who should and shouldn’t resort to fasting and how and when to break a fast. I personally always mistook fasting to intentionally starving our body, but this book had been an eye opener. I have myself done a thirteen hour fast after completing this book and hope to keep doing it regularly henceforth. While it’s too early to comment on the personal improvements I have noticed, I have seen elders in my family vouching by fasts and made it as a part of their life.

To summarize, this book is a one-stop primer about dry fasting, especially for beginners contemplating on how to get started.

Our lifestyles are changing at a drastic rate everyday. With an increase in the consumption of different types of foods, the pace of deterioration of our health is quite alarming. With a lack of good nutritious food & quality supplements accompanied by a balanced diet is causing a fluctuation in the level of output we're supposed to render in today's world. Hence, it's quite necessary to take care of our health. It is as they say 'Health is wealth'.

Unlike how intermittent fasting usually goes where one avoids food but drinks as much water as one needs, dry fasting entails foregoing food & water for an extended period of time in order to make the body gain it's energy from toxins present in the body. Dry fasting is basically the phenomenon where we don't consume both water & food for a specific (not prolonged) period of time. It is promoted as a practice to cleanse our skin & detox the body, heal painful joints & reduce swelling. Researchers claim that our kidney function needs a break from time to time & practicing this will actually benefit us.

It has been practiced by our ancestors in the form of various rituals in different Indian cultures which has been often mocked as superstitious beliefs. However, science & research is evident to the fact that fasting has proved to be beneficial to mankind from time immemorial. It's essential for the body & thus adds an enhanced longevity to it.

The book lacks clarity in terms of distinction of fasting details. It also lacks the level of research required to make it adequate enough to deliver valid & relevant information to the readers. This in turn causes difficulties, dilemma & make it further motonous to read. Writing style is simple. Narration is okay. Language is simple. A one-time read.

I’ve always been such a great fan of knowing more about nutrition, eating the right kind of food, being mindful of when and what I’m putting inside my body, and just being generally aware of my own toxic food habits and working to improve them.

So when I came across an opportunity to review The Dry Fasting Miracle by Luke Coutinho, how could I not take it, right?

As the name suggests, the book focuses primarily on how dry fasting (spending prolonged periods of time without food or water) can have a miraculous effect on our body physically, mentally, and spiritually. Essentially it divides the process of fasting into to parts: building (wherein you consume food + water throughout the day) and elimination (wherein you give your digestive system and body a rest). It dives deeper into defining the importance of the latter phase by providing scientific research, proven studies, and even client testimonials to put forth its benefits.

The book even covers how you can integrate dry fasting to fit your schedule and make the decision that is best for your body. It goes without saying that modern medicine and genetic health conditions require us to live on a specific diet, but in a more generic sense, this book makes us understand how fasting can help us get rid of so many of our daily health problems.

Because of its limitless scope to help our food and lifestyle habits, I’d highly recommend this book to everyone! If you’ve been wanting to learn more about the benefits of fasting, don’t hesitate to pick this up!

Dry fasting by luke cutinho is a non fiction book aiming to inform and guide you through the process of dry fasting (not consuming water or food for prolonged periods of the day)
This book is divided into two parts, the 1st in which it guides you to and about intermittent fasting (having foods only after a specific period of time in a day) and the other half with dry fasting which is basically giving your digestive system a days rest.

The chapters move on explain the benefits of each type of fasting and also have some testimonials attached to them.

Since last year I've been quite cautious about my food intake and have crossed a really important milestone in my fitness journey,so when a book like a nutritional guide came to me how could I not pick it up!

To be very honest and speaking out of my personal experience fitness and health are extremely sensitive topics and you have to deal with them delicately. The problem adds further if one has been diagnosed with any sort of eating disorders.Hence one has to be very vigilant with the kind of fitness journey he chooses to walk on.

This book will simply cater as a very informative guide, giving you all the required knowledge about the kinds of fasting. Definitely you shall find your relationship with your food and fitness journey changed a bit after reading it,regardless of whether you choose to take up any form of fasting or not.

Overall, this is truly a very well researched book, perfect even for beginners if you want to gain insight and awareness into the world of fasting diets.

My Rating : 4/5

🍎Dry fasting miracle -The book discusses about the benefits if dry fasting and the miraculous impact it has on our overall metabolism and functioning of our body. Dry fasting basically refers to abstaining from eating for twelve hours or more.
.
🍎The concept of dry fasting in our country has always been classified under the religious tag. This concept of refraining from eating in the name of a religious ritual or festival has got a scientific perspective to it.Dry fasting helps in eliminating the toxicity and promotes better functioning of our system. It provides a path to a healthy lifestyle.
.
🍎The authot us a nutritionist and has very clearly explained the points .He seems to be well versed in dealing with acute illness We often take a break from social media or feel like doing nothing somedays reasoning that our mind needs a rest but we forget that our stomach too needs a rest.
.
🍎I was of the view that not eating food makes us weak and I always express my disgust when i hear my grandmother and mother fasting. But, after reading this ,it has definitely changed my perspective and has given me a reason to start practicing it too. It was such an informative read and it is really miraculous as the title describes.

The Dry fasting Miracle. This book simply written in an amazing way explains the benefits of dry fasting very well. It is a very helpful book if you want to understand about Dry fasting. This book is something which will help you in your health, maybe by applying it, but it depends from person to person. The way author has clarified things it seems author is well experienced in chronic illness. Author himself is a nutritionist and the way he has explained things, it makes the reader to hook in the book. This is a kind of informative book too where one can get information about Dry fasting , health. Although it doesn't go deep about the things. Health is very necessary thing which should be maintained.
This book also talks about benefits of health and dry fasting. So, here in the book stories has been written which are inspiring one. That will make you fall in power of dry fasting. Quotes in the book made me confused maybe due to repeated form. Overall its a useful read written beautifully... Book gives you positive vibes along with the information regarding Dry fasting.

Talking further about the book;

Book's cover - Book cover is simplest Just title written on it beautifully.

Book's title - Book's title is appropriate, totally relatabls to the concept.

Writing Style - Writing Style is fine, understandable.

🥂 The book discusses about the benefits of dry fasting and it's impacts on our mind, body and soul.
🥂Most of the illness and basic issues are created by overeating .
🥂People do fasting but not all gets the perfect results they expect as it depends on our body , each person's body reacts to fasting differently
🥂One thing I agree with author is 2 tyms having food in a day and not munching in between
🥂As author said we shld not compare our growth with others , as it makes our self esteem low.
🥂 Some religious like Jain and Christian and Isllam celebrates fasting .
🥂The writing style is simple and lucid vocubalary is strong .
🥂 Some people nowadays don't have professional advice and some times these can be one of many reasons of the adverse effects of fasting .
🥂 More than misunderstanding about fastings are cleared in these book . Idea of religious beliefs and technique of boosting immune system makes a person think about fasting before doing it.. properly
🥂 Some phrase from book I liked are " we must aimto make food our medicine and not medicine our food"
🥂 Fasting is designed to stimulate your mind, empower your body and nourish your soul
🥂 Allah says," believers, fasting has been prescribed for you, just as it was prescribed for those before you, so that you may guard yourselves against evil"

The dry fasting Miracle by Luke Coutinho and Sheikh Abdulaziz Bin Ali Bin Rashed Al Nuaimi
This lockdown period has been very hard on me and I turned to food to get a reprise from all the boredom and frustration. This behaviour not only made me more lethargic but also made me more prone to illness. Thats when this book came along and started me off on my fitness jorney.
We always hear ' You are what you eat' but, who knew you could also be what you don't eat! This book is an excellent guide to get you started on the dry fasting/ intermittent fasting journey. The authors have not only explained the actual method but backed it up with science and client stories. There is also a FAQ section which will clear most of your questions.
My experience with dry fasting
* I am a complete novice and had hardly ever fasted before so the first few days were brutal for me.
* Integrated fasting ( a mix of dry and intermittent fasting) works the best for me.
* It frees up a lot of time that I dedicate to meal prepping/ cooking/ eating cleaning up.
* My relationship with food has changed and I enjoy food more now.
Give this book a try if you are done with all the keto/ paleo and God knows what not diets out there. Thank me later

This book has explained the concept of dry fasting in a simple language along with its benefits and its overall impact on our lifestyle. Honestly i never thought that Dry fasting would do such miracle because I'm a foodie and for me the solution to every problem is food. But fasting is important as it gives your body a time to heal itslef. This book tells you how dry fasting would help you in fighting all the diseases including cancer plus it also talks about the changes taking place in your body when you're fasting. How our body heals itself and how it survives when we're fasting is explained in detail here. There's a difference between starving yourself and fasting which is very well explained here. There are reviews of a few people who've practiced it and found it helpful. Honestly i loved this and I'm sure going to try it.
Overall it's a must read.

This book would be very beneficial to those who don't have much or any knowledge of fasting and how it works. I would recommend it if you're interested in this subject. Being a member of the Dawoodi Bohra community, I have been doing Roza (fasting) ever since my childhood. So I knew about the benefits of fasting because of the teachings Prophet Muhammad (SAW).

I love to read or watch anything I can find on dry fasting that is more than a short on youtube. I listened to this on Audible and it wasn't good at all, perhaps actually reading the book would be better but I still appreciate that a book focused solely on dry fasting was written.
