Rate this book
Taryn of Vanir has spent her entire life fearing the dragons that rule the mountain ranges bordering her father's kingdom. They are vicious, cruel beasts who care only for gold and how much chaos they can cause.

When a knight discovers an heirloom that belonged to Taryn's mother, the king of Vanir finally has proof that the dragon responsible for her death is alive and well in the mountains. It's the tipping point in a war that's been brewing for years.

Niressa, the teal and rose dragon, comes for her stolen treasure, intent on forcing the kingdom to return what is hers. When the beast takes Taryn as penance, instead, Taryn knows she must fight for her life. The dragons of Lazeorat will defend their hoardes with their lives—and murder to build it—and Taryn has no intention of being another treasured piece of the hoarde.

But when the dragon transforms into a beautiful woman, the princess finds herself questioning everything she has ever been told.

Could the beasts in the mountains be more than the murderous creatures they've been painted as?

She thought she wanted to escape, but suddenly, being treasured doesnt sound so bad, after all . . .

Have you ever read a book you love so much that it sends you free falling into a reading slump after? This was a book that did that to me. What is not love? F/F romance. DRAGONS. Even a princess that didn’t piss me off. It seems that Princesses have the tendency of being to whiny a sort of Princess Peach figure if you will.

Now to set aside my gushing at least for a moment. This story is a retelling of Beauty and the Beast. A story that has been done to literal death then done some more… and some more. Yet this take feels fresh. This time the Beast is a funking magical pink dragon that doesn’t have to give up her badass form at the end. Beauty is a sweet princess but not lacking in a back bone. My favorite part was that the figure who I interpreted as being Gaston (I’ll let you figure out who) is super supportive of Taryn’s not being straight or in love with him. I am so glad he and his love got a happy ending as well.

The twists were great. I won’t reveal for obvious reasons. Though, I did see a few of them coming because of how they were structured but win some lose some. It didn’t take away from the experience. The writing of Poppy Woods is in a way I adore. It is very poetic and flowery and I think that fits this narrative perfectly. It kind of reminded me of an Elizabeth Barrett Browning poem which is a positive for me. Their chemistry of emotion worked perfectly in tandem with their inner monologues. I tend to not enjoy gushy inner monologues but somehow this worked for me.

Only drawback truly is that it is only 202 pages and I want more…. I could have read 404 pages of this couple but I digress.

I loved this book. It struck just the right balance with the alpha energy of the dragon shifter and the damsel who is sweet and brave. Neither one of them is perfect, which makes them more likable. Some might argue "insta-love" but it didn't feel like it to me. I love, love, love the dragon lore. I would jump at a chance to read a sequel if the author is ever so inclined. Seems like there are so many stories left to tell in this universe.

69% Ooooookay, I read the sexy bits, now this is where I'm going to stop. I'm not stopping because the book is unbearable, I just have better things to do with my time and know that the writing quality won't suddenly improve exponentially, so I'm out. 😅

THE GOOD:
* Dragon shifter + princess romance? Umm, yes please!
* Not actually insta-love, surprisingly. It was quick, for sure, but not instant.
* A premise with some potential.

THE BAD:
* A sex scene that starts out non-con. While those don't usually bother me, that really ought to come with a TW. No, Dragon, you don't get to fuck a girl just because she's having a wet dream.
* SO MUCH REPETITION! Words, phrases, concepts... This could be half the length and still maintain what depth it has (which ain't much)
* The writing feels like middle-grade level - very basic, overly simplistic
* Super needless first 25% or so (so slow, so boring, zero f*cks about those vapid, repetitive friends)

If you like super light, easy reads (with low writing level and quality), this one may work for you. It feels like an indie debut with plenty of errors and repetition that could be easily caught with a quick edit. More than all of that, the lack of substance was just boring as hell.

Obviously, I'm an outlier here, so read other reviews 🤷

Please give me more!! I need more. Another book, at least. This story is so interesting and awesome and also so sweet 🥰 I’m so happy they ended up together in the end, but I’d also love to see them rebuilding the castle and just seeing them live their life together. 100% recommend.

I want to cry in a corner!

You know when a book has a good beginning and you are full of hope that you have found a really great one... Then, you encounter some of your pet peeves and it slowly becomes very disappointing!

So, I know it is supposed to be a very fun and light read! Nothing very ambitious! That's pretty fine for me! But it doesn't mean that it doesn't have to meet some standards.

Like I said, I pretty enjoyed the beginning. I loved the characters. Dary and Mira, despite annoying me at first, began to grow on me. I was touched by Taryn's father and his pain at having losing his wife. Also, Niressa's introduction was very badass!

I loved the world building for its simplicity and creativity. The politics and the the antagonists were brought into the story in a very captivating way, enough to hook me.

Sadly, in the middle of the book, it began to loose me. Mainly because of the love story.

One of my biggest pet peeves is this one: when the physical attraction and lust take over the emotional connection. Sadly, this was the case here. Let me tell you that, in 200 pages, we got not one but three sex scenes (with one where consent is ambiguous since Taryn is asleep at the beginning.)

That means there is few time to develop a deep and emotive love story that could engage me. Sorry, finding someone attractive is not enough to call it love. Sorry, someone being kind to you is not enough to fall in love. Someone who saves you is not enough (but it can be a good beginning). Many people save others just because for them it is basic kindness!

I got hope when Niressa confessed her past. Still, after that, it went back to cliches and focus on physical compatibility. Don't get me wrong! I do love a good sex scene but if I am not invested in the relationship, I am skipping it.

Toward the end, I was also very disappointed by the plot. So many great ideas that could have been more developped. Some relationships more explored. More "Show, don't tell" would have been appreciated. The ending could have been more complexe but it felt too easy.

Like I said, it is supposed to be a very easy and light read but I saw many children movies better handled than that and considering how good the beginning was, I think I have the right to have expected better.

I will recommend this book to people who want a short f/f romance fairy tale story not complicated, just cute and who are not turned off by the pet peeves I have mentionned. Otherwise, if you are very picky like me, you may not like it.

I was excited to read a book about a love interest between Dragon AND a princess and i am really glad that it didn’t disappoint me
She is Dragon shifter in case anyone is confused 😂.

I loved this book so much! And i am really mad at the Author for writing only 1 book and 200 page at that!!!! The story is so intriguing and deserves so much more!!! The fighting scenes between the dragons in the ending was well written.

I loved both Niressa and Taryn so much! I really want more of them!! 😭😭😭

”Mmm, don’t think you can kiss your way out of this,”

Ugh so cute 😭.
And the sex scenes!!!!!! I don’t want to talk more about them so I don’t spoil anything 😂😂.

I expected Taryn father to disappoint me an so many occasions and force her to marry someone she doesn’t love (I guess i have trust issues because of the last book) but he never did and I liked him more for it!

“She can marry whom she wants, Aeron.”

My only complaint is the matchmaking between Mira and Dray
She could have written a book about them instead of writing about them here, more than 10% of the trying to get them together
That 10% could’ve been moments between Niressa and Taryn 🥲🥲.

But oh well, 4 stars read for me! And I would definitely check more books by the author

A dragon and a princess fall in love 😍.

What a fantastical delight! I adored the dragon lore presented.

Princess Taryn is funny and openly, confidently sapphic in this intriguing world of kingdoms. Nerissa is a brooding lonely outcast even amongst her own. Learning each of their backstories was moving.

Political intrigue create the tensions in this novel, but the connection these two had was pulsing off the pages! Steamy! Fiery! Dragon love!

This was exciting AF! I was just waiting for those golden buggers to get busted. Niressa and Taryn were smokin' together, pun intended... but seriously, their intimate scenes were so good... and Mira and Dary?! So cute! And the old dragons stepping up?! Bittersweet.

If Poppy Woods writes a sequel to this book, I'm definitely getting it... 'cause I want more of Taryn and Niressa!

Thanks for the recommendation, Annmaree.

The first half of the book really started strong. The world was interesting and the politics of the realm were interspersed with plot points in the story. I always hate when there are politics I can't follow.

The book lost it's appeal after the halfway point. This is where I had most of my issues. The pace slowed down, unnecessary drama was added, "just so happens" events existed to move the story along, character actions were loosely explained/justified, and a sexual encounter was introduced that lacked proper consent.

I love dragons, I really wanted to love this book.

A Dragon’s Tiny Treasure…

I really liked this book! I could hardly put it down. The romance was lovely and sweet and sexy. It was intriguing how a dragon and a princess could become mates. I loved their personalities and short backstories (short story so expected). IMO the romance seemed the focus and should have stayed the focus because I feel like there was something missing in the end, that we don’t truly see our MCs as mates. Either a longer story or an extended epilogue/novella would be very much desired and appreciated!!

The same goes for the political parts/conflict that just brought up so much and it seemed to kind of abruptly end. I mean it could have been more satisfying if we were able to see more of the mates and possibly some treaties to start peace between the dragons and humans. That’s where an epilogue would have been beneficial or a book 2 because so much could be done to expand.

I definitely recommend for the dragons and the romance and also for the story because I do like this author’s stories (this is my second one) and will read the next sapphic one as well!

There are majestic dragons in here! I think this book was written with me in mind because I adore all things dragon related. If you enjoy intriguing fantasies that have healthy doses of romance and humorous banter, then I know that you’ll definitely enjoy this story because it has all of those things and so much more. I just couldn’t get enough of the priceless and meaningful life lessons that were sprinkled throughout this novel and I must admit that my book dragon and I have become huge fans of this author’s writing! I will always be on the lookout for more entertaining novels from Poppy Woods.

• shifter
• fated mates
• ff
• touch her and I’ll kill you (literally)
• found family
• forced proximity

This was so quick (180 pgs) and easy, I’m not normally into fantasy but with it being a FF shifter mates story I gave it a try. I’m so happy I did! This book had such a good balance or sweetness and plot. Highly recommend for a quick read.

Might go up to 4. There are things I really enjoyed and few I didn't.

I loved the dragon lore here. I also really liked how it didn't matter that the princess and sole heir was into women.

This is definitely a light, easy read. Just what I was looking for. And I liked the writing style. Flowed well. Insta-love/lust but easy enough to look pass, knowing that I wanted a lighter read. First time I've read this author and I will be checking out more.

I didn't like the second sex scene that was initiated while one was asleep, regardless of an erotic dream or not. It was also at the very beginning of their time together. I know it's supposed to be a pleasant way to wake up or whatever but maybe after you've discussed if that's something that's wanted.

I also didn't like how we didn't get any info into their future. One's lifespan is very long and the other's isn't...

But overall I really enjoyed this and how it all came together. There is a lot of potential in their world and I would love to read more. Hm, might bring the rating up just cuz of that. Doesn't happen often where I want to read in the world and don't mind if it's different main characters...

TREASURED was a great fantasy romance featuring a dragon shapeshifter and the Princess she kidnaps. As Taryn and Niressa spend more time together they start to fall in love and Taryn realizes everything she thought she knew about dragons was wrong. I loved Niressa's possessive demeanor toward Taryn and the way she called Taryn her "Tiny Treasure"; these two were just so cute and sexy together.

Outside of the romance, I enjoyed the world building which wasn't overly complicated but just enough to paint the picture. I also really appreciated Taryn's friendships with Mira and Dary as well as her relationship with her father, the King. Overall, a very enjoyable sapphic romance.

Content Warning: references to Taryn's mother dying and the grief surrounding it

I’ve you love fantasy, Dragons, Princesses, and an incredible love story this is for you. I feel so much for Niressa. She lost so much and isolates herself with her treasure. Taryn is just what she needs. I couldn’t get enough of them together. I was so happy when the first kiss came. The ending made my heart happy. I would love another book on them.

Stockholm Syndrome'd princess falls for a lonely dragon shapeshifter. What's in it for the dragon? It comes off like the dragon's settling, idk. There's no action, drama, or politics, they just sit around in a cave doing nothing for most of the book.

I read another review comparing Treasured to Beauty and the Beast, so maybe that's my problem since I'm not a huge fan of that type of story

I enjoyed this well enough, the world-building was simple but intriguing with it's politics and the dragons' history (especially Niressa's) and the characters are well-cute. The romance was a bit insta-love but it wasn't bothersome to me at least.

Another especially big issue I had was a scene lacking the necessary consent. One of the characters is asleep when the scene starts and it's just... that's not great? Made worse by the fact that they are VERY early on in this growing relationship and it's what? Their second time together. Yikes.
Anyway, it wasn't bad, might read another of Woods' books? I don't know, but if you're looking for a simple fantasy f/f romance then it's probably what you're after!!

I did originally give this 4 stars but as i can't stop thinking about it I decided that it deserved 5. I enjoyed this. I like the pain and heart ache that was throughout the book and I almost screamed out when all the dragons came together in the end. yes parts were predictable and sappy but it really got to me. I really want to see a rose and topaz dragon now I think that would be amazing. I love the way that the dragon calling her little treasure became her pet name in the end.

Having recently finished Elemental Attraction, I needed another sapphic fantasy book featuring shapeshifting dragons. And here we are!

Princess Taryn's mother had been slain, years earlier, by a marauding dragon, and her special teal-rose crown had been snatched away. When Taryn's father's retainers invade a solitary dragon's lair and resnatch it, the teal and pink dragon Niressa comes in a rage to the royal jubilee and demands its return - and when her Treasure is not returned, she snatches and flies away with Taryn, her Tiny Treasure.

Intrigue, politics, a sapphic princess - and dragons!

Honestly, this was fluffy - but the world building was solid and I enjoyed every page of this story.

Nice twist on the classic tale

Instead of knight-saves-princess-from-dragon's-lair, it's princess-falls-in-love-with-dragon, and I love it for that. Characters felt real, and I could connect to them.

This is the most beautiful fairytale I have ever read. And it’s definitely in my top ten favorite books of all times. I don’t even how to express my feeling for this book when All I want to do is keep on repeating how much I loved it and how amazing it is. But I’ll try.
This book felt like as an interesting take on Beauty and the Beast, where Beast is a beautiful pink and teal girl dragon and Beauty is a princess who likes girls. Maybe I’m just seeing Beauty and the Beast in everything I like because that is my favourite fairytale of all times, and especially when Beast gets to keep the beastly form. And here, the Beast is a girl, how cool is that???
But coolness aside, this is also one of the most beautiful romances ever written. The emotions are off the charts, the chemistry between the characters is amazing and the slow build and then subsequent hotness, wow, masterfully done. The author has outdone herself again. Her skill in writing girlie romances is pure brilliance. Without comparison. She is the best, the Queen of Girlie Romance.
Then there is the authors writing. Not only that she gets better with each book I read, she add a poetic expression to some of them, and this book is probably the most poetic one of all. It is beautiful how the words flow and the rhythm they have and how they affect the pace of the story. I was kidnapped, I could not leave it, i could not stop reading, I was taken to the place and I was there in the story. So beautiful.
The characters are beautiful as well, even the villains are proud and beautiful and so well developed and interesting, and there might have been a point I felt a bit for them, which never happened before. And the two main characters Taryn and Nerissa are just absolutely wonderful and impossible not to love. Their inner monologues, their interactions, their chemistry, their love… pure perfection.
I could probably write pages and pages of how much I loved this story. As far as I am concerned, this is a must read whether you like this kind of romance or not, it is just too beautiful to miss out on.

Fun, sweet read

I was surprised by this book. It had popped up on my KU recommendations a few times and it looked a bit sappy-princess-stompy-foot, so I hesitated to read. I am glad I took the plunge. I liked it almost straight away, and the princesses was not stompy-foot at all. Her interaction with the Dragon was great, quick witted and also deep. The author wrote the chemistry between them well. I did find a few typos and grammar things, but there were not so many it spoiled the reading experience. I thought the King was a little too understanding at times towards the end, but it is supposed to finish on a high note. All up, I enjoyed this, I even teared up once or twice. A good read.

What an amazing story. Everything Poppy writes is amazing, but this one has a special place. And the cover is so damn pretty. I want to hoard it like a dragon.

The book tells the story of a princess and her kidnapper, yeah brutal start right! But its really necessary because with that ending nothing else made sense but this way. And who would have thought those people were actually .... nope not saying it. Read it! Its really worth all your time and devotion
