Being immortal doesn’t mean you can’t die. It just means you’re damn hard to kill.

When Alexei Medvedev joined the Forgotten Brotherhood — paranormals hired to assassinate other paranormals — he knew it wouldn’t be a cake walk. But his next target is one of Death’s own Reapers gone rogue. For the first time since he started this gig, “damn hard to kill” feels more like “damn near impossible.”

Tracking Cassie Dobbs brings him to a remote bar in small-town Alaska, where this hot-as-hell Reaper is casually serving drinks, as if she doesn’t have a bounty on her head from Death himself. Alexei is dangerously intrigued. Everyone in the Brotherhood knows the first rule: don’t fall for your target.

But Alexei soon has bigger problems to face than an unexpected attraction. They only send assassins after those who deserve to die…or so he’s been made to believe. Now that he’s met Cassie, though, he’s not so sure.

What if everything he’s been told is a lie, and the person he’s been sent to kill is the only one who knows the truth?

Arctic Bite is book two in the Forgotten Brotherhood series by N.J. Walters. First, I need to mention the covers of both of the books in this series. They are gorgeous. It’s what first drew me in. Then, when I read the first book, I was in love. I’ve been anxiously waiting for the next book, Alexei’s story, and it was fantastic!

sexy mountain man in the snow

Alexei Medvedev is a polar bear shifter. Only, he’s not just an ordinary bear shifter. He is a bear with a little something extra. Shunned by his own kind at an early age, he was taken in by the Brotherhood, a band of paranormals for hire, assassins hired to kill other paranormals that needed to be taken out, put down, the worst of the worst. Before any contract is signed, they always investigated the mark, making sure it was truly someone that needed to be killed. Alexei was very glad of this detail, very glad he had not yet signed that contract, the night he walked into The Pit, the bar where his current mark worked, and first laid eyes on her.

Cassandra (Cassie) Dobbs is an ex-reaper. She’s been reaping souls since the dawn of time and she just couldn’t do it anymore. Now she’s in hiding, learning to live as a human, experiencing life for the first time. The night Alexei walked in to her bar, she knew he was something other, just not sure what. What she did know was that when they touched, it was electric. She was drawn to him like a moth to a flame.

“She belonged to him. Now all he had to do was convince her of that.”

man holding woman

Alexei knew this woman was innocent. So why did someone have a contract out on her? He also felt a need to protect her with his life. He could let no harm come to her. Together, these two are a force to be reckoned with. As they explore the attraction to each other, they are also forced to face danger, as they try to figure out what is going on.

death - Google Search

I loved this book. I read the entire book with the front cover image of Alexei in my head and that worked just fine! Alexei and Cassie’s chemistry burned up the pages. Not only were they both trying to stay alive, they were also forced to face shocking details of their own pasts. They also both discovered that the power of love, the power of loving someone else more than life, is the most powerful weapon of all.

I am so in love with this world the author has created. I have no idea what is next in this series but I can’t wait to find out! I can’t wait to meet the next member of The Forgotten Brotherhood.

This is an ARC Review- release date is 18 May 2020

This book put a smile on my face. I really enjoyed the main characters and their interactions with each other. The book had a great flow to it and that is really important in a Paranormal romance. The author really made an effort to make these characters likable as well as relatable. This was a fun and easy read that had a very satisfying ending. I highly recommend it to anyone who loves paranormal romance.

Alexei Medvedev was a member of the Forgotten Brotherhood, an assassin who took out other paranormals. His name and his deeds struck fear in others. He was massive and obviously intimidating, but who knew this male would end up being a gentle giant? At least he was when it came to Cassie. However, despite his immediate attraction to her, he had a job to do - someone wanted her dead and he needed to figure out if he'd be doing the killing.

One of the first things I fell in love with, aside from Alexei's incredibly palpable awesomeness, was the fact that he didn't jump before thinking. Yes, there was a contract out for Cassie, however, he did his own investigating. And what started out as determination to do his job and do it well, quickly turned into his determination to protect Cassie at all costs. His devotion to her (and hers to him) made my heart melt and caused me to swoon over this couple from the very start.

Everything about Alexei appealed to her. Not just his physical appearance, which was superb by any standards. He was thoughtful and patient, but when he decided to act, it was swift and brutal. He knew exactly who and what he was and accepted that.

There is something so poetic with the way that N.J. Walters writes. The magic she creates with her characters resonates with me in ways I never expect. After meeting Maccus and Morrigan, and falling so in love with their story, I knew I had to gobble up everything this author releases. Alexei and Cassie were everything I could ask for and I can't wait for everyone to fall in love with them too!

4.5 - "I’m here for you…" Stars!

We return to the Forgotten Brotherhood series with polar bear shifter/vampire Alexei Medvedev’s story. The cover for this book is my favourite of the year so far, and Alexei had my lady parts trembling from the first paragraph.

There was a lot more to him than the drool-worthy outer package…

I enjoyed the first book in this series but for me I found it a little unbalanced between sexy-times and story-line, N. J. nailed it this time, plenty of action and plenty of sex(ual tension) were delivered in a fast paced enjoyable story.

"No one else in the world probably gets me as well as you do…"

I loved Cass, sass, attitude and plenty of mettle, her pairing with Alexei and the revelations about her family in the latter stages of the book gave the author many options for future books.

The more I read from this author, the clearer it becomes that she’s an absolute expert in writing in the PNR genre, luckily she has a large back catalogue so I am not going to run out of reading material any time soon, I am also eager to see where the Forgotten Brotherhood series goes as well.

This can be read as a standalone even if the world is the same and it's loosely connected to the previous book.
I liked it better even if it has the same problems as the previous book: sex too soon and already used trope. It reminded me very much of Larissa Ione's Lords of Deliverance series where the supernatural beings get mixed together in the most unexcpected ways and where both have suffered very much in their life...
Still the idea of a vampire-polar bear mix getting in love with Death's daugther is good. I loked Alexei and his bear personality very much. This was told and shown very well with his behaviour and his way of thinking!
Just for that it deserves full 4 stars!

Where do I begin? Seriously, Arctic Bite is a perfect example of all things I love about paranormal romance!

1. Fun, engrossing storyline. Who doesn’t love the thought of a group of hot and sexy assassins taking out the baddest of the bad guys in the paranormal realm?
2. Speaking of hot and sexy assassins. Alexei Medvedev ticks off all the boxes. Strong, smart, loyal, and protective all wrapped up in a tall, blond, and handsome package. Count me in!
3. Plus a smart, snarky, strong leading female—Cassie Dobbs—who the hot and sexy assassin can’t help but fall for.
4. And a big hit of romantic suspense as to what will happen when the truth is revealed.
5. All equates to an “unputdownable” 5 star read.

Arctic Bite is a fantastic addition to the Forgotten Brotherhood series, but it truly does standalone! I one-clicked the first book, Fury Unleashed, though, and it’s at the top of my TBR because the series is just that fantastic! ~ Missy, 5 stars

Disclaimer: I received an Advance Reader Copy at no cost from the publisher/author. All opinions in my review are my own.

I loved getting a deeper look into the world of the Forgotten Brotherhood. I loved the first book and while this one wasn't nearly as good for me, I still enjoyed it very much.

The author has a very inviting writing style. Her writing really pulls you in and holds your attention. I thought that the pacing was a little hurried overall. I know that this is a fast-paced story but things sometimes felt too abrupt. I really enjoyed the plot twists that the author dished out in this book though I felt like things weren't happening in the story at times.

I really liked both Cassandra and Alexei. I liked the mystery of both of their pasts and how everything was revealed. They had some nice backstories. I felt that Alexei and Cassandra were both very relatable and likable characters. I really loved seeing Maccus from the first book of the series.

I loved everything about the romance except for the instalove. They had great chemistry with each other and the author wrote their connection very well.

Overall, this was a great addition to the Forgotten Brotherhood series. This is an interesting world and I love how each book gets a little bit deeper. This book had wonderful characters and surprising plot twists. If you enjoy fast-paced paranormal romance then you'll love this series.

Alexei is a diehard assassin and one of the members of the Forgotten Brotherhood: a group of paranormals that are contracted to exterminate other paranormals. He is a hybrid: a polar bear and a vampire, thereby making him one of the deadliest in his line of work.

Cassandra Dobbs is a reaper who has left her job to explore humanity and live her life. Alexei gets a contract to kill her, but he decides to investigate first before he signs it. He discovers that something doesn’t feel right and he couldn’t quite place a finger on what it is. He becomes attracted to Cassie, which violates the first rule of the Brotherhood. It turns out that he’s not the only one searching for Cassie and Alexei is determined to protect her till the end. He’s a bear on a mission.

this is a really solid addition to the forgotten brotherhood series. i love when a series is a collection of independent stories set within the same world that can be read as standalones. this compliments the first book nicely and effectively adds to the previous developments.

i liked the new setting and new set of MCs. both alexei and cassie are interesting characters and worth rooting for. my only slight problem would be the major case of insta-love present. i get that lust and attraction can be immediate, and thats fine, but its a personal pet-peeve when characters are saying i love you the day after meeting. its just a bit of an eye-roll.

but this installment is well-written and entertaining and im excited to see what story will come next for this series!

a massive thanks to entangled publishing for the ARC!!

Alexei Medvedev is part of the Forgotten Brotherhood — paranormals hired to assassinate other paranormals, but one thing they always take care to do before signing on the dotted line is investigating the potential job/target. When he meets Cassie Dobbs, he cannot understand why anyone would put a hit on her, his instincts scream for him to protect her from all harm, his desire for her instant.

Cassie Dobbs walked away from her eons old job of a Reaper, knowing that doing so would not be easy nor would it be stood for, but she's finally reached her limit, her heart cracking at the idea of taking another soul. When danger comes calling Alexei refuses to leave her side, and finds a woman/person who doesn't see him as a abomination/freak.

I liked both main characters, individually and together.

An enjoyable read just wish there had been a bit more.

My review :

Will her true nature be the end or the beginning of their blossoming relationship...

The first thing to say is I was hooked from the very first page, while I like paranormal romance, I read them from time to time. And this one caught me unaware, I needed to know what will come after each turn of page.
I missed the first book but it is no problem as this one is truly a standalone.
Alexei is not the usual shifter, he is much more than a changeling and it is why he was shunned by his kin and found his right place among the Forgotten Brotherhood group.
He is honorable and follows the rules, never would he accept a contract if he does not feel it is right. Why his investigation brings him in this deserted place.
And his target is nothing he expected and everything he never knew he needed.
Cassandra can’t stand her line of job any more, enough is enough, why she terminated her contract but no one revoke a job with Death himself. And now she has this stranger looming in her bar. While she should run, she is drawn to him. And with shadows lurking closer, whom to trust.
Yet their attraction is one only the fates mates encounter, from the first glance they were stuck with no way of going backward.
It was in some way fun to watch them trying to figure out who the other was and at the same time hiding their true nature, afraid to scare the other.
Alexei since his change has never known compassion, gentleness and empathy. And Cassandra is everything above and more. Together they figure out who they are and what they want even if it will be short lived as no one escapes Death.
This is a fast paced tale as everything moved in the span of time of a few days, theirs is an instant mating kind of love, without even knowing the other, they were destined to be together.
I enjoyed there is no big fight against their calling, but that it was not also smooth. They accept their attraction but need to believe in one another and trust is not something offered blindly.

5 stars for a very entertaining and page-turning read making me revisit the many paranormal beings under a very unusual light.

I was granted an advance copy by the publisher Entangled, here is my true and unbiased opinion.

Arctic Bite by N.J. Walters is book two in her Forgotten Brotherhood series. Though part of a series, it reads as a standalone.

Paranormal assassin, Alexei Medvedev, has been contracted to kill bartender, Cassandra Dobbs. Alexei’s organization, the Forgotten Brotherhood, exists to eliminate paranormal beings who have gone rogue. What has Cassandra done to warrant the contract taken out on her life?

Arctic Bite is the second book in this series, but the first I’ve read. I found it to be a great read. There is intriguing world building and the scenery is used to its advantage. The characters are vibrant with complete backstories. I like both the male and female leads. The plot is engaging. I truly enjoyed this novel. I rate it 4 out of 5 stars and recommend it to all readers of sci-fi/fantasy romance.

My thanks to Entangled Publishing, LLC and NetGalley for the opportunity to read an advance copy of this book. However, the opinions expressed in this review are 100% mine and mine alone.

This is the second book in the Forgotten Brotherhood series.

Alexei is an immortal and is sent to find Cassie who is his next target. He's an assassin for the Forgotten Brotherhood who is sent to kill immortals and he's only sent after those who deserve to die, or at least that's what he used to believe before meeting Cassie.

Cassie is in a bar as the bartender, hiding from her past when Alexei walks in and she realizes she's in trouble in more ways than one. Cassie is an ex reaper and her family didn't like the fact that she had left.

The contract out on her life wasn't exactly what it looked like since she couldn't be killed by normal ways. It was just a way for her family to find her and bring her back. But Alexei stops a vampire from trying to hurt her and let's her know that she's safe with him.

Alexei and Cassie are so good together and when they finally give into their feelings, it was so hot! Alexei might be a hired assassin but he's got a softer side with Cassie and I loved how much he cared for her. She's a kick ass heroine in her own right and even she didn't realize how tough she was at first which I loved.

But she's on the run from her family, who will stop at nothing to bring her back. While he goes on the run with her to keep her safe, a few twists are thrown in their way. But he's been keeping a secret from her and it scares him when it comes out. So much so that he was prepared to leave her so she would be safe from him. It was a great secret, a great twist and a great story.

Disclosure: I was given an ARC of this book via NetGally but all thoughts and opinions are my own.

Wow, where has N.J. Walters been all my life? Seriously, how am I just now discovering her? Needless to say, this was my first book by the author but also definitely going to be my first book in a long line of obsessive-based mainlining of her work. I get a little OCD like that.

I honestly didn't know what to expect when I picked requested this ARC but I was absolutely entertained. Forgotten Brotherhood of badass warriors of unimaginable skill and power that are assassins for paranormals? Vampire Bear shifters? Grim Reapers/Death's right-hand reaper?
description
Ummm, sign me up twice!

I, unfortunately, couldn't get my hands on the first in the series fast enough so I was a little, contextually, out of the loop but not in a major way. Regardless, Artic Bite was fun and entertaining with a little bit o' steam mixed in. I love all things paranormal and the world is really very interesting. I seriously am so on board for more. *Please reference aforementioned statement on OCD mainlining of other works by the author.*

I absolutely recommend for those looking for an entertaining and fun new paranormal series.

O wow I think this second book in this series even tops the first with its absolutely gorgeous cover art and such a well crafted story too. So what do you get if you pair a Polar Bear Shifter who has more than a little something extra with a sassy ex Reaper ? A serious amount and of chemistry and a fabulous, well paced story with a surprising twist is my answer ! Yes this book took this series in a whole new direction but there’s still more than a slight nod to the story arc from the first book. If like me you enjoy paranormal romance then this author should certainly go on your must read list and I can only say I’m very excited to find out what she has planned for the next book.

Alexei Medvedev is a hybrid shifter who is an assassin with the Forgotten Brotherhood. The Brotherhood are a group of immortals who take on contracts to kill other immortals who have gone rogue.

Cassie Dobbs is a bartender in Alaska who live a quiet life, going so far as to even reside above the bar that she keeps. She has no real friends, no family and no real connections other than taking care of her regular bar patrons.

Alexei always investigates marks before accepting the contracts on their lives to make sure they deserve to die. He cannot figure out why Cassie needs to die or what type of immortal she is for that matter. He does find himself drawn to her and Cassie in return finds herself drawn to him as well. Soon they find themselves on the run when someone else decided to take Cassies contract and Alexei decides he has to protect her. Their attraction is exciting and I found myself rooting for them. This story sucked me in and held on tight! There were a couple of plot twist that grabbed me. The ending left me satisfied but also left it open just enough for there to be another book in the series if the author so chooses.

I received an advanced copy of this book from Netgalley in return for my honest review.

Alexel Medvedev is an assassin and a part of the Forgotten Brotherhood. These members get the job done no matter what. But.... Alexel always does his own investigating before he strikes his kill. Good thing because this latest job to eliminate Cassie Dobbs proves to foreshadow a passion for him that he cannot resist. Great characters and action. This is a part of N.J. Walters' Forgotten Brotherhood series but reads fine as a stand-alone. " A copy of this book was provided by entangled via Netgalley with no requirements for a review. After reading the first book in the Forgotten Brotherhood series ‘Fury Unleashed’ I knew this was a book I also wanted to read. Although this is book two of the series, it can easily be read as a standalone. And don’t you just love that cover?

In ‘Arctic Bite’ we meet Alexei and Cassie. Alexei is part of the Forgotten Brotherhood, a group of paranormals hired to assassinate other paranormals. On his recent case he has to find and kill Cassie. But from the moment Alexei sees Cassie, he knows he isn’t going to kill her. There is something about her that makes him love her right from the start. But Cassie isn’t a regular woman. She has secrets of her own, and although they both feel an instant attraction maybe they aren’t meant to be more than strangers.

‘Arctic Bite’ was definitely a book I enjoyed. Although I rarely read fantasy/ paranormal books, this one was really fun. I loved the paranormal aspects just as much as in the first book. The setting of this book is unlike any other book I read. And I loved the world, and the different creatures. It sure is fun to learn about this world.

The romance between Alexei and Cassie was really fun to read. Their chemistry is flying of the pages. And although I found the ‘instant’ love a little too much at times, I definitely enjoyed reading about their story. I especially loved how Alexei was this big, tough as nails, badass.. but was really sweet to Cassie right from the start.

Their where also plenty of thrilling moments in this book. Their where definitely less than in the first book, but it still kept me sitting on the edge of my seat.

‘Arctic Bite’ was a very fun read and I can’t wait to read the next book in the series. If you’re looking for a fun, romantic, sexy, paranormal, thrilling read.. than this series is definitely for you.

Alexei always does his own investigating before we signs the contract to kill. Which is how he ends up in the middle of Alaska, sitting in a bar, wondering how a human wounded up on the Forgotten Brotherhood's radar. Between Alexei's bear scenes and his vampire abilities, Cassie's scent comes up human. However, there's no way she'd end up on a hit list if she were. As he continues to track her to see what she is, he soon realizes that there's a lot more to Cassie than meets the eye.

First off, I love that the sifter in this story is not only a polar bear, but a vampire. His hybrid nature really added some extra dimension to his character. They definitely did a good job on the cover because that's pretty much how I pictured him looking. Then you have Cassie's character who I didn't see coming. I honestly don't think I fully read the synopsis to know what Cassie was beforehand. I kind of wish they omitted what she was from the synopsis because it makes for one shocking moment when it's revealed.

Both of these characters are strong in their own right. Cassie hides it well behind her small frame and sweet disposition. Alexei's is kind of on full display, but what he hides underneath is a softer sweeter side. It was interesting seeing these two balance each other out. I will say that I wish that there was more romance building for them. They just sort of fell in bed together, and couldn't seem to keep their hands off of each other. Every time I turned around they were ripping each other's clothes off. I just kind of wish for more story building and character building for them. The sex scenes started to overshadow the story line.

Arctic Bite was an interesting paranormal romance. I loved the fact that this story revolves around a polar bear vampire, and a reaper. That's not a combo you see every day. However, I thing this story could have used more character development. I just didn't grow attached to the characters and as a result, found myself rolling my eyes at some of their actions/words. I will be interested to see what duo the author comes out with next, though.

Arctic Bite is the second book in the Forgotten Brotherhood series. The series follows the members of a elite and secretive assassin group, for supernatural and immortals alike. The characters in this book and plot are all very interesting and unique. I can 100% say that I have never read a book about a bear vamp and a reaper getting together while on the run from seemingly every supernatural there is (including death himself). And I don’t think I will ever have that chance again.

One of our main characters, Cassie, is a seemingly an average bartender at a small town in Alaska with a hit on her head. Our other main character, Alexei, is the person who has taken the assignment for the Forgotten Brotherhood. And as both characters soon find out neither of them is as simple as they seem.

I’ve read my fair share of paranormal/shifter books so I’ve come to notice there is two kind of categories, ones that only focus only on the sex and ones that actually have a good plot. I love reading both of them but when I can get two in one I always appreciate it. And this one is the best of both worlds, amazing plot and character development and a fair amount of amazing sex scenes. The plot follows Alexei and Cassie as the figure out who each other are and what they have gotten themselves into by falling into each other’s lives. With all kinds of supernatural after the bounty that is on Cassie’s head, Alexei doesn’t know why but he feels the need to protect her from them all, or at least die trying.

I love both the main character in this book, they are both supper interesting and unique but if I had to pick one it would be Alexei. Alexei is the cutest bear vamp assassin I have ever had the pleasure to read about. He is not your average everyday male love interest. Yes, obviously him being a 7 foot, bear vamp makes him interesting all on its own but it is so much more than that. His history, back story, insecurities, protectiveness, abilities, and love for Cassie all makes him one of my favorite male love interests I have ever read. Cassie is also an interesting character, I don’t love her as much as I do Alexei but she’s still pretty fricking awesome being a badass reaper and all.

In general, I really enjoyed reading this story and you might be wondering why I gave it 4 stars and not 5. Well, at about the 80% mark a certain scene went down and I literally had to put down the book and stop reading. It was as if a thirteen-year-old sprit took over the amazing author that had been writing up until this point and wrote out the Romeo and Juliet version of what this scene should have been. It was so over dramatic to the point of cringing even hours later when thinking about it. It was just so misplaced and uncomfortable to read. Completely and utterly unnecessary. I loved the book but it wasn’t perfect but I will definitely be going back and reading the first book in the series and any others that come out in the future.

I was given this ARC in exchange for a review but all thoughts and opinions are my own honest ones.

Arctic Bite
Forgotten Brotherhood #2
N.J. Walters
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Alexei Medvedev joined the Forgotten Brotherhood to be a hired assassin. He knew it wouldn't be easy, but being immortal made it all that much harder to really kill him. His next target is supposed to be one of Death's own Reapers. One that has gone rouge. But for the very first time since he started doing this job he's finding it impossible to kill his intended target.

Tracking down Cassie Dobbs brings him to small town Alaska, where this hot reaper is actually serving drinks, and behaving like she doesn't have a care in the world, never mind a hefty bounty on her pretty little head. For one Alexei is more then dangerously intrigued. Everyone in the Brotherhood knows the first rule: don't fall for your target. It's never good to form any kind of attachment to a target.

But before Alexei knows it he's got more then a case of distraction to deal with. They only send assassins after those who deserve to die, or so he's always been led to believe. Now that he has met Cassie, though, he's not so sure.

N.J. Walters just took my world and flipped it upside down. The heat level in this amazing paranormal novel is through the roof. Alexei and Cassie fit so perfectly together they are like a team who should never be separated. Cassie is sweet, but don't get on her bad side because she is hiding who she really can be, and when the truth comes out, it will astound you. It's not something I saw coming. This was an incredible read and I was pulled right into the book with in the first page. I just couldn't stop reading that's how good it was. I now have to read the other books in the series I have not read yet.

**I received a copy of Arctic Bite from Entangled Publishing and Net Galley in exchange for a voluntary review. My opinions are honest and not solicited in any way.**

Arctic Bite by N. J. Walters is the second book in her Forgotten Brotherhood and while I loved Maccus and Morrigan in the first book Cassie and Alexei grew on me as I got further in the book. It's a solid 4 stars and I can't wait for the next book. The plot twist at the final chapters was amazing and I sure didn't see that coming at all.

Alexei Medvedev is researching his next contract who happens to be the bartender in a Nome, AK pub. What he learns about watching Cassie Dobbs is that she cares and watched over her patrons so he's confused as why she needs to die. He's a polar bear-vampire hybrid and he hasn't figure out what Cassie is other than she smells like flowers (A Reaper). When they break up a fight she invites him upstairs to stay the night. They are soon on the run from vampires who want to collect the bounty on her head.

Cassie Dobbs walked away from her job and wants to just experience life. She didn't expect to have a bounty on her head or to meet Alexei who tells her there's a bounty on her head. When one of her own Reapers wants to collect the bounty its Alexei who'll hear the siren call of her scythe. When you add in their escape to Russia (his home is a cave) plus there's the big reveal at the end and you have a kick ass heroine.

I hadn't read the first book in this series but didn't feel like I'd missed anything to detract from my enjoyment of this story. It is an action packed paranormal adventure and romance featuring a wide array of different species.

Alexi Medvedev is a member of the Forgotten Brotherhood and he's been hired to find and kill Cassie Dobbs. Alexi never agrees to carry out an assassination until he has confirmed that the paranormal deserves to die so always checks the target out first. This time, however, his attraction to the intended target - and hers to him - makes this for a dilemma filled story! With others out to get her, him wanting to protector and both of them having secrets regarding their own nature, this is a very different romance.

The story has great characters, plenty of surprises, danger, threats, powerful beings and, of course, a very hot and steamy romance. Alexi is such a fierce and protective lead, his back story is very moving, too. As for Cassie, well she's on the run but just why and from whom you'll have to read it for yourself to find out!

I requested and was gifted a copy of this book via NetGalley and this is my honest review after choosing to read it and finding it to be a fascinating paranormal romance.

Shiters CHECK
Kick-ass Heroine CHECK
They meet at the bar where she works, She takes him home …. and there it will all set off.

If you like Shifter hybrid Vamps, Kick-ass heroines, and those around them, read this book. This was a different genre for me, but I loved it! I volunteered to review an ARC of this book through Entangled/NetGalley and it comes highly recommended.

P.s. although the cover is about a Polar bear in the snow and a sexy shifter. This will only be one of the smallest part of the book. Most take place in a city, A bar and her apartment.

Alexei is assigned a new job. It takes him a few months before he tracks down his “target”. He ALWAYS investigates before accepting a job and this time is no different. When he meets Cassie, aka Cassandra, he knows he’s not taking the job🤔

An interesting concept of who Alexei is, or I suppose I should say what he is. Cassie is a bit of a surprise, but definitely gives one a chance to think what it would be like to live as long as she has. Loved the conclusion and the “secret” which is revealed by Death himself😳

Alexei is a typical man when a pretty woman shows interest, "now her eyes did widen slightly, and she ran her gaze over his body. “I guess there’s a lot of you to fill.” He barely resisted the urge to puff out his chest" Alexei holds nothing back, “let’s have ***?” God, she loved how blunt he was." I liked this book, I loved Alexei.
