It's Halloween night. If I can survive my first trial as a witch, I can stay alive. The problem is, I'm not even sure I am a witch. Luckily, I'm surrounded by hot guys with magical powers who might be able to help me figure it out.
When a very late 18th birthday present shows up on my doorstep, I have no idea that it's going to change my life forever. The gift, from my grandmother, grants me four years of paid tuition at Ironwood Academy, in a town called Love's Hollow, New York.
I've never heard of the school or the town, but I have nowhere else to go, and I'm determined to take what's mine. It turns out this place is full of non-human creatures. I really don't think I fit in here, and Headmaster Thorn seems to agree. He wants me gone. He may even want me dead.
I'm going to have to prove to him that I belong at a school for magic. Good thing the student body is made up of strong, handsome guys who all have special powers. From the alpha werewolf to the witch who can make you kill yourself with one look, they're all so dangerous they should be forbidden.
But I think I can use them to my advantage. Because my grandmother left me with one more present: a necklace with special powers. I'm beginning to wonder what will activate the spell, though.
As Halloween approaches, my time is running out to learn the secrets that will help me pass the test, and the guys all seem enamored with me. I can feel my power increasing each time one flirts with me.
Maybe losing my virginity is the key to my survival. And I'll gladly give it away. But I need to choose wisely about who takes it.

Ruby with no place to go, and up at Ironwood an Academy for witches. She never new she was a witch and with the headmaster bound and determined to expel her. She needs to find a way to pass the Halloween trials. Her necklace from her grandmother helps her just do that.
I was sent a copy of this book by the author in exchange for an honest review. I'm a huge fan of Casey Morgan so starting this book I knew I was in for a treat and I wasn't disappointed. The story centers around young Ruby who is given an opportunity to attend a prestigious magic school courtesy of her grandmother who died several years previously. Ruby isn't aware that Ironwood is a magic academy and on arrival it's obvious the head master isn't happy about her being there. He's going to make it hard for her to stay so sets a trial for her in two weeks time. Ruby is fortunate that the headmaster has ordered a young student, Angie to take her to their dorm and over the next few days their friendship is cemented. Ruby aces the trial but is then thrown into learning about magic and is really out of her comfort zone. Not knowing that there was magic in her family and then finding out that she has powers she wasn't even aware of - this promises to be a story full of surprises not only for the reader but for Ruby as well. Friendships are made, students are not impressed in having someone so hopeless in their midst, so it promises to be a challenge for Ruby. I loved reading this story and am looking forward to book 2 in the series. Highly recommend this story.
So I first want to say this was the first time I've ever read anything from this author.
Second I didn't realize when I downloaded it that it was a short story & not a full length one. If I had known that I probably would have been less likely to read it.
Third I have to say I liked the premise of this story. I love reverse harem stories. I will say I enjoyed this story up until about the 70% mark.
At the 70% mark Ruby really started to irritate me and I just started rolling my eyes at her.
I did really like Jasper. But can't really say anything about the other guys because it's NOT clear who she's going to include in her harem.
I want to find out what happens & who all is in the harem. But just Not sure I'll continue on why this series.
Ruby lives with her step father. He wants her out of his house, he doesn’t like her one bit. She find an old package on the table that looks like it might be covered in chocolate. She hopes that what it is. It is from the Grandmother Rose. There is a note that explains her Grandmother paid full tuition with room and board at Ironwood Academy. It’s in the town called Love’s Hallow, New York. She has never heard of the academy or the town. Her uncle wants her out of his house right now. So she spends all her money on a bus ticket. When she gets to school she finds that no one is human. So she thinks she does not fit in. This is a really cute short story. You will enjoy find out what this school means to her. If you like story’s about the non-humans you will like this one. It was fun to read. Enjoy!!!
I really enjoyed all the titles in this series. Our heroin is sassy from the get-go with a bite, as she discovers who she is and where she belongs. She's also a quick learner with seriously interesting appetites, which she indulges in quite often.
I personally am not a fan of the short novel, I love them descriptive and epic. This though was a jolly ride (having read all available trials in this series, thus far) through delightful hedonism and self discovery. The intimate scenes are descriptive and rather graphic in detail. One feels like a voyeur, but then, aren't all readers one for the duration of the journey.
This doesn't feel like the end, though the trip has been fun so far.
Ruby Thrushmore finds a birthday present from her grandmother one day at er stepfathers house. It gives a new home, since Jim, her stepfather wants her leave. Ruby has no idea what it will be like at Ron Wood Academy since she has never heard of it. Horrified to discover it is a magical school and her first test will be in two weeks, Ruby tries to catch up. She needs to pa's, can she get the help needs in this school of hot bloodied boys and catty girls? A must read for all lovers of the supernatural world.
There is nothing to like about the main character. She supposedly turned 18 but acts like she's in middle school. She's strangely attracted to everyone she sees even though she's been told they are bad news. Then instead of, I don't know, trying or asking questions she decides to cheat and end up with a weird underserved confidence out of nowhere. It was a strong start that quickly turned confusing then gross for no reason. The MFC is actually the villain but with no real motivation.
Ruby's life is anything but great. She finds a package meant for her birthday from her deceased grandmother. Full tuition to Ironwood. It turns out to be a school of magic. A whole new world opened up to her. But with the help of Angie and her ghost brother, Drew, they get her through the first trials. There is more to Ruby than meets the eye. Read to find out what other secrets are revealed.
Girl has crappy life until an endowment sends her to a mysterious academy. Once there, she discovers her roots are much more than she ever imagined and now she is under a time crunch to elevate her talents. This tale has a highly elevated sexual nature as well so mature readers only. Book one is interesting but does have me on the fence. All my reviews are always voluntarily written.
I really enjoyed this fast pasted book. Ruby is a fun loving character with no knowledge at all of the paranormal. She is given an opportunity to start at a school she knows nothing about. Let’s hope she’s able to learn quickly.
I really enjoyed this book, it moves at a fast pace. It’s got great main characters and a few more that I know will start to shine in future books. I loved the storyline, with the twists and suspense. Overall a great book, will definitely read more of this series
Witch's Trial, book one of the Ironwood Academy series, is an ebook I borrowed through Kindle Unlimited (KU). This story had too many plot holes and inconsistencies to keep my attention. I had originally downloaded the box set and realized I couldn't get past this first book in the series.
A bit too smutty for me. I hate it when the MC female is a virgin but has no problem having sex with the first guy that comes along as if it doesn't mean a damn thing.
ONE ENJOYABLE EXPERIENCE!!! Crank it up! Casey popped this bad boy out with such stunning wonder along all the hard knocks, snags, tweaks and jumbles that makes this baby sing loud and proud. A chaotic ride with a bounty of swirling emotions burst into play front and center. Trials and tribulations abound with sharp curves, clean lines and thrilling bumps fuse this bad boy together sleek, shiny and tight. A swirling throng of vexing contingents and a bevy of surprising events blaze this baby to life flawlessly. The chemistry is intense, sizzling and palpable. The characters are well developed, authentic and believable. Their personalities are unique with qualities and traits that balance out perfectly. The scenes are vividly detailed and descriptive it paints a fantastic backdrop that adds more realism and keeps it on point and life like. Wonderful job Casey, thanks for sharing this little guy with us.
Really quick read. Ruby has been living with her step father since her mother passed when a gift from her dead grandmother comes. She now has somewhere to go. A spot at an academy. But it’s for magic, and she knows none. With her new bff and her ghost brother she’s got to learn fast or face expulsion. When they say slow burn RH. They mean slow build up of the harem cuz the book isn’t that long and she’s already seduced Jasper. I already foresee her going down a power hungry path
I had to read it a second time! It was just as good as the first!
I enjoyed this book the first time around. I had forgotten a few things and had to re read now that the rest of the series is out. It was just as good as the first time! I was confused bc the title and cover are different but all the books match now!
Wasn't sure, when I started reading how, I was going to react to story. But I found, that I enjoyed it, ended to soon. I can't wait to find out ,what all Ruby can do. Glad she is a fullblooded witch. I look forward to reading the continuance of her learning about her powers, and her small circle of what have become her friends..
Ruby is living with her stepfather, when she finds a package sent by her grandmother. It includes a necklace and a letter telling her that her tuition is paid for Ironwood Academy. Turns out the Academy is for magic users and Ruby has to learn magic fast. Sex fantasies are prevalent with all the hot guys. It will be interesting to read more.
Not really my cup of tea, but it is a good read. It weird people changing into wild animals. I just had to keep telling myself that it was only a story.
