Incubus #5

Freedom

Rate this book
Everyone lies.

They claim he is free, yet Ezra remains cuffed and watched every second. Ezra learned early in life that trust leads to pain and betrayal. He’s not about to fall for the sweet lies again. It’s time to finish what he started in the cellar.

Without the bond link, Finn wouldn’t recognise the hostile, scared, defensive incubus as the captivating demon who stole his heart and soul.

When they met, Ezra used his demonic abilities to push his way into Finn life, his heart and soul. Now it’s Finn’s turn to use as many dirty tricks as necessary to win his demon back. Like Ezra, Finn has no intention of letting his prey escape.

Final part of Incubus, an m/m series. Graphic material and laugh out loud moments.

Emma is the #1 Amazon Bestselling Author of m/m series such as Paint, Incubus, and Lies.

Known as the Queen of MM angst her books include Sci-fi, paranormal, and contemporary romance and always puts her characters through hell before giving them a HEA. She blames her rebellious muse (who looks like Chris from the Paint Series) for the erotic aspects tickling the angst, and the humor cuddling up with the erotic.

When not writing or reading she herds Birman cats and sons; Both groups argue that the other is too large.

Wow! Just wow! I've been on the journey that is Ezra and Finn from the beginning and have desperately wanted them to be able to finally have their HEA, they finally get it in book 5 of the Incubus Series. But Emma's writing is so good, that along the way I got invested in these characters. I need more! I want to know what happens with not only Ezra and Finn but also Silas, Milo and all the other supernatural men we meet along the way. The writing is great, and these are quick reads, but grab you and drag you into their world from the first line. This is one of those series, that is hard to see end and even harder to let go of.

Each book in this series just got better and better. Each book left me wanting another one quicker then the last. This book is no less then the others were. I REALLY, REALLY hope the Emma Jaye will decide to make another book. If there isn’t, then I hope to read about these in a book with them just as guest appearances. Maybe a book with Avery’s story that I feel needs to written.

This is the final book in this series and boy was it a dozy. All the questions, or most at least, was answered. I am not going to give anything away because I do not want to ruin the book for anyone. But I will say this, Finn really and truly captures my heart in this book all over again.

At times my heart broke for him and Ezra and other times I was upset and mad in Finn’s defense. In the end I fell in love with all the characters in this book. Especially and not limited to Finn, Ezra, Avery and Silvia’s. Milo and Jericho have really special places in my heart as well.

Emma Jaye did such an incredible job on this series. It turned out to be so much more then I expected it to be when I started reading book one and now that we are what is supposed to be the final book, I am sad that it is ending.

If I could say that there was one thing that I really wanted that I did not get and hope to in the future, then that would be how Silias is going to fit in with Ezra and Finn because to me he just fits them. That is my opinion though. Really hope to read more about this make shift pack in the future.

I loved this series and this book in particular. I'll admit that I didn't love all the other books in this series before this one, only because I hate cliffhangers. Read all of them and you'll love this as much as I do. Great writing, loveable characters and a good story.

Emma Jaye delivers a finale worthy of the first four installments of this character driven story

After sharing the memories of his nine-year imprisonment, Ezra emerges believing his ordeal only just happened. He completely forgets the intervening years between his escape from captivity and bonding with Finn. Armed with the hard heart those torturous years left him, and without the knowledge of his love for his vascellum, he attempts to kill himself, and therefore Finn. By doing so, he intends to spare the young human the pain of a life in which he must serve the incubus/succubus race by feeding them sufficient energy to propagate. Ezra views this as no different from the plans the vampires had for him.

Retreating to the Mediterranean resort island of his cousin, Avery, all those who care for him attempt to bring him back to the fun-loving, innuendo spouting, sexy beast they (and we) all love.

The beautiful island backdrop to this final installment proves a powerful contrast to the bleak cellar backdrop of the previous book. As with the rest of the series, the characters shine in every scene, whether desperate, funny or sexy. We come to learn more about Avery as well as Silas, Ezra’s keeper in prison.

Questions will abound for readers of this series: Are there more books on the horizon? Will Jericho ever discover another Atlas bear shifter or is he truly the last of his kind? Can anyone turn the head of the fae, Pixie? Will Avery ever recover from the loss of his own vascellum, Frederick? Will Milo forever stay with his unusual pack or he will search for his own love connection?

How about it Ms. Jaye?

This conclusion exceeded my expectations. The author continued her quest to twist me inside out emotionally. She succeeded in a way that seemed effortless. The best compliment I can give any author is when at the conclusion of a series or a book, that I want more. In this case, I not only want more but I need more. It is a complete conclusion, but I'll take anything else I can get in this world.

The character development continued to be on point. While I didn't think there was room for growth, the author managed it. Once again that was not just limited to main characters but to secondary as well. The world building at this point was so vivid that I felt like I could walk right into those pages.

I can't get past the storyline itself. It truly went above what I thought I wanted and gave me everything I needed. Emma Jaye kept it not only original, which is hard to do, but unpredictable. There was not a moment of hesitation or a moment that I wanted to put the book down. Instead it all came together in a way that completely satisfied me and addicted to the author even more.

5 stars for a flawless, addictive and unpredictable read.

This is the last book in the series and I have to say it was my favorite. This story was so heartbreaking at first wanting Ezra back to his normal self. The love between Fin and Ezra Is so fun to read. Emma really knows how to make you fall in love with each and every character

I think Emma (the author) hates poor Ezra, all the things he went through *crying emoji*
And finally Finn is back! But I miss Silas❤
Avery... I don't know where to put him.

This whole series was kind of cute. Little things exist I could niggle about, but overall I was really pulling for the protagonists to finally be able to have a somewhat happy ending. A fun, somewhat quick read.

Loved it. Hated it.

But mostly loved it.

I always had a thing for the incubi and now I think I will visit all the erotic shops in town. Thanks a bunch.

Even though I often did not see how feelings developed between the main characters, it was a hot read and I loved all the juicy, angsty, dramatic sh*t going on!

It feels a bit lonely now that I know the adventure is over... Think I got addicted.

Pack First

Oh man if I could be a fly on the wall in the prison, pretty please. I really love their new family and how they look out for Ezra and Finn. It makes me laugh so hard each time Ezra projects pheromones at Jericho.

I adore Finn and how possessive and protective he is of Ezra. He needs him in his life. “You’re different, so be different.” Very wise words and so appropriate for Finn. I’m enjoying the different connections that are developing between the pack members. It makes me happy to see them learning how to belong to each other.

“If you lined everyone on the island up, even if you had a bag on your head, I’d pick you. Every time.” ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ these words, sigh. Finn’s words about Ezra’s scars just made my entire year. I love it when Ezra calls Finn, Beautiful. Oh man the scene at the bar towards the end, had me in tears from laughing and what a fascinating skill Finn has. A wonderful ending to an amazing series!

The trial is over and everyone is dealing with the aftermath. I loved the book and I love this series so so much!!! This is an amazing group of characters. All of them are unique and interesting and I really love the dynamics between them. I don’t want to spoil anything but the ending really surprised me and the interaction between Avery and his mother was the best thing ever. The twins are hilarious and I still have a crush on Pixie.

This was my favorite so far. The angst on this one is so fascinating. I loved where the story went. It is impossible not to love Ezra. He is such an amazing character, very complex. I loved the way the thinks. The internal dialogue he keep all along the book was so intense and bittersweet. All of the characters have being so good, but none as amazing as Ezra. Definitely a recommended book.

The first few books, felt a bit shallow. But then it picked up...big time!

"Manipulate, wait, and don't trust, had been his most effective strategy to avoid pain. He didn't see a reason to change it."

The aftermath after a walk down memory lane gone wrong... Yet again, poor boys!

"...the different supernatural species don't trust each other. The way you've drawn diverse demons, shifters and a fae together in a common cause is unprecedented."

This author knows how to squeeze on the right heartstring, push on the right button and make you feel it all and then some.

"Finn's voice threatened heartache for them both and promised a life Ezra didn't dare hope for; the life everyone had been telling him was possible. The life he had so far denied. Could it happen?"

It cannot be over

The 5th book of the series, I find myself at a loss as this is made to be the last in the series other than a prequel of sorts. I am so very happy they all found their HEA but it cannot be the end. The author did a wonderful job with the storyline, transitions between books, and consistency of the characters. The writing was richly detailed and progressed nicely as the story continued. I do know there is a 6th book in the series that tells the story of Ezra and Pixie’s meeting and I look forward to reading that as well. This review is an honest and unbiased reflection of my thoughts after reading an advanced readers copy of the book.

3.5*

Almost there...

I say 3.5. This book had more errors grammatically. Plus, a lot of information thrown together too quickly in the end... A super strong storyline... To end up watered down when we find out about Finn's abilities... Sooo... Not in love with the story, but... I did feel the first 3/4 of the book was throughly entertaining..

Beautiful ending!
So many things had happened to Finn and Ezra, that everyone should agree – this couple deserves the happily ever after, and Emma Jaye gave it to them.
Mind games, fears, rejection and acceptance and huge amount of hilarious situation made me an Incubus junkie. I want more of Ezra, I want more of Finn, I want more of Milo and Silas, pleaseee!
threesome
And… I want more of bear pheromones XD That got me spitting my tea out!
Thank you for the beautiful read, Emma!
